Terminator: Dark Fate - Defiance8

Awesome strategy game. I really like the setting, modern and guerrilla warfare mixed with in a post-apocalyptic world. Aesthetically, it is pleasing and clear (missing HDR support). Gameplay-wise, I really like the units roster, its abilities/upgrades and the synergies between them. I thoroughly enjoy the resource-management throughout the campaign. From obtaining as much loot as possible from the battles you fight to earn money, to managing your army and setups as well as buying improvements and planning ahead. You need to keep consumed supplies in check as growing your army is not free, and you need to consider travel requirements. The duality between combat and campaign management reminded me of XCOM, which is quite a praise. I think it is really well executed within its AA scope. A top strategy RTS game, among my favourites.

Squad8
Feb 28, 2025
Most likely one of the best shooters out there. It is the mid point between battlefield and Arma. It is not arcade but at the same time it is not too slow for my liking. It is a deep tactical game where coop is a must. Players are expected to fit into squads and follow the squad leader's orders, who is in contact with all other squads to achieve the set objectives. Use of the microphone is key and expected, as well as heavy usage of the map. Communication is, in summary, paramount. It is unlike any other game I've played in this regard, and at such a scale. Gameplay is quite unique due to this, both being infantry and vehicle crewman is fun if you play with friends. It tries to be quite realistic, and it does well in this regard. There are some roles I don't like that much, like mortars and logistics, since they are quite boring. Playing frontline infantry, spec-ops and vehicles is where I have the most fun, since it brings you closer to the action.Give it a try if you have friends to play with, otherwise it might be frustrating and/or boring.

Fun with friends, specially if you are playing seriously. Visually good, with interesting tactical coop gameplay. I feel like you end up relying on mostly the same gadgets all the time, and through playing various situations it gets a bit repetitive soon. It is though, a fun game to try out.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth8
Feb 28, 2025
FF7 Remake being among my favorite games, I had high expectations for Rebirth. The gameplay is an improvement over the first game, but it feels almost too similar. "RPG" progression and inventory are as awful as usual (learning weapon abilities through weapons that are just handed to you, materia that progresses at an abysmal rate, etc), I don't see the point in making any of these apart from trying to buy more time, which the game tries its hardest at. For every half an hour of main story, it will try to give you double that of half baked secondary content, with mission types like those you see in every single AAA game these days and lots of mini games. At first, I enjoyed playing these, but the game proceeds to fill every section with them and it gets tedious and repetitive. The open world is, well, everything you would expect, in the bad way. It's just bloat, completely unnecessary. Very early in the game, I decided I would skip everything I mentioned after giving it a try through clearing a whole area, which saved the game for me. Instead of wasting time, I just went through the main storyline like I had done in Remake. About gameplay, this game gets better over time, as you get access to more tools. I ask myself, is it okay to start in such a lackluster manner to get good at the very end? I'm sorry, but the game should be interesting gameplay wise from the start, it just takes too long to pick up the pace.About the story and characters, I liked it and I'm really attached to them. I like the lore and world, and the soundtrack is as good as is usual in Final Fantasy. I think it went a bit overboard with goofiness and childish behavior/mechanics/tips. It also makes abundant use of non-argumented plot twists and has many plot holes, which doesn't bother to cover. About the ending, well, SEPHIROTH! I'm sure you all read that with the track in your ears. It's the same old ending from remake. Characters defy fate, fight an ever-appearing sephiroth after going after him for the whole game, and he just flies away at the end. "Don't worry cloud, we'll have yet another reunion in part 3, I'll throw you a meteorite and Aerith will be just fine". It was just, expected. I honestly just went with the flow, but didn't feel nearly as impressed as in remake.Note: Bring Reno Back, also the main fight tracks carry fights so hard. Let's see how part 3 plays out.

Dragon Ball: Sparking! Zero8
Jan 4, 2025
The ultimate Dragon Ball game in regards to combat and feel. As a successor to Budokai Tenkaichi 3, it boasts a deep combo system and a huge roster to play with. Visuals, audio, animation are amazing, feels like the anime in this regard. I play sparking when I feel like going through a few combats with my favorite characters, but I really miss a hook that keeps you playing, or coop stuff to do. It's like there is nothing that keeps me playing continuously, and I end up relegating the game to a second line. With such a complete combo system, this is tough because you end up forgetting most things between sessions. In this regard, Xenoverse 2 is the best we've had. You had your own character to level up, customize both visually and combat-wise. You had an original single player story and lots of coop missions to play with friends. It felt more alive. Definitely give this game a go but consider it a "play sometimes for short bursts" kind of game.

Total War: WARHAMMER III7
Jan 4, 2025
It's a fun game for some time, if you like CA's RTS games then you'll like this one. The thing is the formula has not changed at all ever since the first Total War. Combat is refreshed with leaders and magic, but campaign map stuff is too simple. It's basically a game of building big armies fast and keep on conquering settlements, there are almost no strategic layers unlike civilization. Coop campaign mode is appreciated, but I wish they revamp the campaign mode to add more depth.

A different take than Overcooked. I really like how building the restaurant is completely on you, it adds such a cool strategic layer to the game, along the improvements, the upgrades they can get, its roguelike elements (augments)... When the clients start rolling in, it does feels challenging and chaotic. Compared to Overcooked, it has some pretty nice new ideas for you to try out. Definitely a game you need to play with friends.

Great and polished action game. Fun in coop. It does not feel like anything innovative or new, but since it's really polished it feels good to play. Definitely give it a go if you are a 40k fan. Visuals are impressive, audio is on point and the executions feel nice. The Dualsense's haptics are quite a nice touch too. Recommended.

A perfect finale for the Norse saga. I love the fact that they kept it down to two games, and decided not to overextend. As usual, masterfully crafted, world, story and characters are top notch. The gameplay has been improved with the addition of a revisited skill tree and a new weapon. I really liked awakening the weapons and swapping between them depending on the situation. The game starts with a bang, perfect hook. I really like how the story unfolds, and I absolutely love the character's progression as they face the inevitable. Kratos's arc ends beautifully in the Valhalla DLC. As it is a sequel, there are many nods to the original, and the bases are the same, which is not a bad thing at all as the original was already very good. Don't worry, you'll get your fill of epic moments :).Excited about where this goes next!

Final Fantasy XVI10
Oct 5, 2024
The greatest Final Fantasy I've played so far. A visual marvel, pure and absolute epicness. Visually, it's really impressive, and it has some of the best cinematics I've seen in games, like taken out of FF15's "Kingslaive". Square, make more films/animes! Sound-wise it's a playlist-maker. As other FF games, this one packs a punch too. There are tracks for everything, and coupled with really good SFX they make this feel even better. Shout-out to the VAs, I honestly liked the voice acting and how the characters spoke similar to a medieval setting. I love the world/story/characters. Final Fantasy has a license to make any possible eccentricity imaginable, and I love it. Hooked by the underlying plot and the fates of the Dominants. In love with the Eikon's representations and the lore behind them. Gameplay, at the very top of my list of Action-RPGs. I absolutely loved the combat system, it's super fluid. It feels so good, you honestly feel like a god on earth. The keys are the usage of the Eikon's abilities in succession with one another and previewing/reacting properly to the opponent's strategy. I also really like perfect dodges and the ability to counter when done properly. Dodging well is an opportunity to attack better. The Eikon's abilities are super cool and each have its perks, I enjoyed playing around with them and the profiles. One other really good thing is that I used all of them! Over the course of the game I kept obtaining cool gameplay mechanics that I adopted and mixed with my previous ones. I would have loved to be able to use more Eikon abilities at the same time, like having a second wheel of 3 swappable in combat, just like in Scarlet Nexus. Last, this game has some of the best boos-fights ever done. In its whole package, from the visuals to effects to boss mechanics to boss stages... The epicness meter surpasses the limits early and then keeps rising somehow. At some point, you're in Dragon Ball levels of epicness. And it feels good! It really feels good to play! You would think that since the boss fights seem to be really cinematic it would take the gameplay element away, but nope! I really want to praise how well it felt to play, even when fighting with the Eikon. You would think that when being Ifrit it would all amount to a couple punches but It was honestly well done (would have liked to have another ability maybe?). The only bad side of this game are the secondary quests, as the other FF's I've played. I just skipped most so that's solved but they managed to put some secondary quest-like content in some primary missions. Won't forget buying garlic. Pacing was sometimes predictable (blocked gate classic, intermission quests).Overall, this is a masterpiece in every single area that mattered to me, so it goes straight to the hall of fame. A final Fantasy to remember.

Black Myth: Wukong8
Sep 13, 2024
Honestly good. You may think it's a souls-like but it has its own unique flavor that makes it stand out. It's really polished and cared for. From the visuals to the sound design to the boss fights. The story/narrative and how it is told is remarkable. I really liked the gameplay, from the basic light combo to dodging to using spells and reading the enemy. It improves and changes as you progress through the skill tree. I didn't see the point in using the other stances (apart from smash) and anyway, I didn't have the points to improve them either, so that was sad. Between this, the relics and the equipment you could tailor the gameplay to your playstyle. I think the inventory progression could have been a bit more gradual, as I felt I only got new things from chapter to chapter. As other hard, boss fight based games, it is tough, sometimes too much. You get frustrated and consider dropping it altogether. I always dislike this part, but there ca be joy in the challenge. Same thought as with Souls, I think a difficulty option doesn't hurt anyone, even though true chosen fans will blast me into oblivion for this opinion. A step forward for chinese-based games, and a really nice portray of sun wukong's story. I thoroughly enjoyed getting to know the lore and understanding the narrative.Congrats to the devs, an dlooking forward to where this goes next :)

The definitive RTS, specially if you are a fan of the Wargame series. This one centers itself around an earlier cold war as compared to Red Dragon. It takes both from the former and Steel Division series, with lots of Quality of Life improvements, advanced traits, better infantry combat and upgraded coop army general. Honestly, Eugen did an amazing job here and it will only get better. I hardly have any complaints. The game also features mod support through the workshop, which is super cool given we were using community custom tools to mod campaigns back in Red Dragon. I enjoy the slower pace, way better QoL, and downscaled battles you can experience in this one. Props to Eugen for making the game I dreamt about, and for taking it forward with regular updates and planned expansions.

One of the best coops out there. In love with the thematic and feel. Unbelievable community. It looks and plays good, although there are some major frustrations in it too.I want to praise the immersion, it's really thought out from the menu to the game. Your ship is the menu, and going to a mission requires to hop into a hellpod to get launched into oblivion. The music when helldiving is super catchy. I really enjoy running around with friends using all sorts of tools/gadgets/stratagems to take on the enemy. Now, I dislike the big difference between the bots and the bugs. I mostly only play bugs because bots just feel unfair to me. You may get blasted from a long distance by a low tier enemy and get instakilled. The range makes a world of difference between the two enemy types. It should be more **** for weak points, how come the charger has an enormous weakpoint in the back which is stronger than the armored front or legs?Balancing has been all over the place since day 1. But, as per the CEO's words, "we need to stay relevant", so they kept pushing untested updates to the players that kept changing the meta and breaking the game, killing the fun. Most players have dropped it by now. When you release a live service game, you are not done on day one, that's the start of hell. You need to prepare months in advance, this was this game's major flaw. I dropped it a while ago because every time I got into the game I would get a new game breaking bug, end up in the bottom of the map or watch as my old fun to play tools got nerfed to the ground (good job with the mech, the rockets were fun to use and challenging to hit the charger's legs, now they are useless and no one uses the stratagem anymore...). For weeks and since the start "damage over time" as featured in flame weapons, was not working if you were not the host. They released a warbond with an armour that had X passive, I bought it considering that and days after they adjusted the passive. Most new cool things have to be paid for, so if you want to stay relevant buy... I could go on and on about these things, but I think i made my point clear by now.I opened the game to have fun but the chaotic updates killed it for me. Will be back if good new content is pushed in and the game is successfully stabilized. Still, I recommend you give it a try only if you have friends to play with.

Awesome game. One of the best coops I've played. The different roles really add up, it's best to combine them to properly play the game and face the challenges presented. It's also highly replayable and has a remarkable procedural level generator. Levels feel unique each time and I love how you traverse the environment with the pickaxe and operator tools. I liked the mission variety.I loved the tone and fantasy of the game. You really feel like a dumb miner constantly spamming "Rock & Stone!" and other catchy phrases. Attack on Titan 2: Final Battle6
Aug 1, 2024
The sequel to the other only game in the franchise. Gameplay is really simple and killing titans is based on a lock+directed movement, so it's not really what I would have liked. ODM movement feels nice though, it's also mostly automatic unfortunately, but it is cool to watch. The animations and cinematics are cool, but I don't think there is anything that really stands out. I dislike playing as my own nerfed character, I preferred the "Another mode" in which you play against original characters such as Levi. If you are not doing a great character customization and progression system that makes you love creating your own character I'd rather stick to the originals. That said, If you want to play something okayish to relive AOT this is your game (and only option).

A disaster at launch, getting rid of classes in favor of turning the game into a monetizable hero-shooter of some kind. Wasting time on an extraction mode, a tornado, doubling the player count... The development and launch version of this game were horrible. Too many things were wrong. Special mentions to the ultra fast player controlled missile that makes the AA missile obsolete. Also to having the same icons for different vehicles and the same warning sound when you are being tracked in a vehicle (marked with a missile launcher, incoming sundance grenades...). Difficult to decide if flares are needed. The devs managed to refloat it over time, adding classes back, more and better/reworked maps, new tools, forgetting about the extraction mode... At its current state, it is a solid game, but it all comes too late. I had fun and played it for lots of hours with friends and was able to relive some of those long-sought battlefield moments of the past. I enjoyed the vehicles and some of the new maps, specially the infantry based map in a snowy research complex (Redacted). Overall, it's a shame that it launched in such a state and I hope the next one doesn't make the same mistakes

Dark Souls IV open world. The keys of the Souls saga are there: Greatly built bosses, enormous challenges, intriguing and dark plot, and RPG mechanics. It is great. I really like the gameplay, building my character the way I want and improving on the go. Constantly learning and immersed in this beautiful and sad world. Visuals and sound are spot on, the game feels great to play. I'm mostly always intrigued by what and who I will find and to see the semi-opaque plot develop.I don't like: It is too damn long, my full playthrough took 93 hours, and I was looking at the clock speedrunning a bit for the last 10. I also think it loses part of the souls charm in its massive open world, giving in to excessive repetition of challenges (damn you catacombs) and bosses. The greatest parts are its close spaces, the main areas where the big bosses are (similar case to the last metro game). Also, if I find a character and its sole response when I talk to him is "hmmm" I eventually give up on all of them. This is a major weakness of souls, obfuscating too much the story and quests to the point in which you either give in to the online wikis or completely ignore questlines. I've had a bit of both in this game. I'm okay with consulting a wiki from time to time to better make my decisions, but this is just too much.Summary: I'd rather have a semi open-world, featuring half the length of this one with the more trascendental and impactful moments and putting more thought in accessibility and better informing the players to help them take their decisions regarding build and quests. Great game even with the mentioned flaws!Shadow of the erdtree: More of the same, so if you liked the base game you'll like this. Same problems as the base game too. What I liked the most were the last two bosses and area, and Bayle's domain. The key in these is that I got emotionally invested in the fight, specially because of the NPCs, dialogue, transcendency and in the last boss case the fight itself too. I forgot how rewarding it felt to win a fight like that and I'm glad I could part ways with the game in that specific mood.

One of my favorite JRPGs. Everything stands out, from its polished anime-like graphics to the gameplay to the eccentric world and setting. The music and SFX are catchy, the graphics are outstanding and the animations are remarkable. The gameplay feels really well. Dynamic, without loss of momentum, eccentric and over the top at times. Honestly, this game’s combat is remarkable and quite better than that of FFVII remake to compare it to another king in the genre. I really like the power system and the combos/decisions available. You might think you are constantly spamming buttons, which I can’t deny completely, but unlike others, you are constantly changing between powers and adapting to the enemies. I really enjoy the game’s **** form a bond with these characters, each with its own power, design, strengths and weaknesses. I played this game when it launched, through Yuito’s POV, and they really stuck in my mind. I’ve seen the anime adaptation and came back to play the game from Kasane’s POV, and it’s been its own experience and fun to play again. It’s a new IP, and I really like how eccentric the world/setting and storyline are. To some, it may be too much, but I really like new takes into fantasy worlds like this. Special mention to the art direction/style, it’s really unique. It feels it has its own vibe like Persona 5. Forget about secondaries as they are just challenges, one thing I didn’t like was that I needed to grind to watch the last EX bond episodes. I decided to watch Yuito’s last and Karen’s episodes on YouTube as I don’t like grinding. I dislike having this paid content behind a grind wall.Apart from that, the game’s a blast to play. I've played it twice from the different POV’s and watched the anime, so I guess that speaks for itself. One of my favorite games without a doubt.

It's cool to play with your beloved characters and use your favourite moves. I only bought it for all of this above, focusing on the single player mode. Gameplay wise, it's nothing out of the ordinary, but I guess it is good enough. Uses tracks and voiceovers from the anime which is a nice touch. I liked it, it's a solid way of reliving the first part of the series.

Graphically breathtaking, truly a sight to behold. I rarely take so many screenshots, this game is filled with beautiful vistas everywhere you go. Having played Zero Dawn though, this feels like a 1.5, with not much innovation over the previous entry. The grapple is useful to avoid wasting time.I don’t dislike the story, I like Aloy and Sylens. My main problem with it is that it feels childish, superficial. The story of the brave hero and a couple allies who save the world of impending danger where most of the population is childish and lives in the stone age. I feel like I’m treated like a child many times, and it gets boring and very repetitive. Aloy, just let me think about the puzzles, don’t make obvious unnecessary comments at every step of the way (this should be an accessibility option if needed). Ratchet & Clank may have similar vibes, but that is targeted at younger audiences so I’m fine with it. I’m sorry, but it is full of forgettable quests and characters. The main villains have barely any development if at all. You know you are going to fight them and that’s mostly it. I haven’t grown attached to any character, even Aloy feels more of the same.Gameplay/Combat feels like the first game, which is fine as I really liked it. I like identifying machines and countering them appropriately, using my bow to tear down components. My problem is that everything has grown bigger. One thing I don’t like is that some machines feel like sponges. Even if you destroy all of a Clawstrider’s components, it doesn’t die. Hell, it might even have half of its HP remaining. This goes against the game’s design intention imho and feels frustrating. We got many more elementals and weapon types, an enormous skill tree, weapon type specific special abilities that use stamina, special abilities… I have an issue with this (and many others) open world RPG progression. I’m happy buying a couple bows early, with different elementals that help me against the different machines I face. Then I like spending some time improving them on the go, until I go to the next trader and see that my weapons are already obsolete, even when upgraded. This is a slap in the face, it is so frustrating and disheartening. Am I wasting my time? Should I just go with whatever I find until late game weapons and then improve them? Why do I need 5 different bows? To cover the elementals? I haven’t found almost any purgewater bow, hell I don’t remember having even seen one. It's a horrible design, and the industry is plagued by it. I’d rather have Aloy’s bow, and be able to improve/modify it on the go. Here, I added a shock module. Here, I improved the string and now I can draw it faster…I hate it when a game tries to stretch itself, less but higher quality time is better! Nothing really stands out, it’s just good enough.

Sid Meier's Civilization VI9
Mar 23, 2024
The legendary simulation/strategy game. Civ 6 is surprisingly deep if you want it to be. Easy to play, very hard to master. Made of many small building blocks that align together in many different ways. Settling is a mini game of its own, managing your territory and beyond to place the cities in the best possible positions. If you master this game, you’re even seeing where your districts will be placed, and how you’ll benefit from adjacency to others. Where you’ll put your wonders, which city will handle what, etc. Technologies and civics are key and varied. It is brutally important to keep short/mid and long term goals in mind when deciding what to research. One moment too late and you’ll be left with a low tier unit against a fierce opponent. One moment too late and someone else will build the wonder you were dreaming of. I absolutely love how the map is built, procedurally from a varied set of presets. The map is built out of hexagons, and every unit pathfinds through them. Each tile may have special features, it can be made of water, dry land, forest… It can contain a specific resource or be ideal for a certain **** you advance in the game, you’ll discover more of the map, and unlock more of its resources to exploit. You’ll witness how your civilization grows from the stone age to the future age, and be instrumental in how it all plays out. Playing online is advised as the AI is limited, so if you have some friends that are up to it play with them. It’s much better online. The game suffers from the classical simulation game issue in late game, where your civ has grown too much and you have too much to micro-manage, so take that into account. I think it lacks more complex endings to decide who wins a game, the default ones are just too straightforward. If you amass science and production you’ll win first, that’s how it is. If you don’t like the other paths, you’ll end up playing similarly unless your opponents force you to adapt.Overall, this is most probably the greatest simulation/strategy game in the market as of now.

Red Dragon is one of the best RTS I’ve ever played and almost a dream come true. It’s set in the cold war era with access to several prototype units from later on, which is my favorite setting for this kind of game. There is a huge amount of units available, and many different countries to choose from. You can make your own decks and focus on your own strategy. The game features ground, air and naval combat. It’s complex, fast and unforgivable. Mistakes may cost you dearly and that makes you think harder about your moves. Playing online or versus AI is fun on its own, but what I absolutely loved about this game was the campaign mode. Several campaigns are available featuring different conflicts with many countries involved. They present you a short narrative around a newly developed conflict that you’ll need to sort out. You act as general, and you command your battalions from a region map divided in sectors. You have certain objectives and get points for holding strategic areas, advancing on your objectives. These allow you to call in more battalions with different capabilities. You need to plan short/mid and long term strategies and invest your resources properly. You’ll also need to decide when to move forward, backwards or defend a position. Apart from the whole campaign strategy, you’ll need to fight your battles.Overall, it’s a nice simulation/RTS, which only lacks the ability to play the campaign in co-op as well as some QOL upgrades that its brother Steel division has. Warno is coming out of early access soon, and I’m jumping to it with the promise of addressing Red Dragon’s flaws.

One of the best strategy/simulation games out there. If you like growing and managing your civilization, discovering new stuff, and building an army to take on the galaxy this is it. It’s deep, complex and rewarding when played right. It may have a steep learning curve, and have an improvable base UI, but that’s where the workshop comes in. This game supports the Steam Workshop and is full of great mods, so be sure to give it a shot. As many other simulation games like Civ, it grows more tiresome as the game advances and your civilization grows, so If you don’t love to micro-manage a lot, do not expand too much or give a try to automatization. I really like managing short-mid and long term plans, and advancing steadily in those. The game will require you to have an eye on each one. I really like the lore built into the many different questlines. The endgame crisis is ok for me. What’s not ok and I’d rather have disabled is the fallen empires setting. Spawn 1, or none. If 2 are present, chances are a “holy war” will break out late in the game and screw the galaxy, having the endgame crisis just around the corner.I absolutely love creating my own empire, race. I can define how the species is and how it behaves through lots of characteristics, and also define how its government works. With mods, you can expand further the customization options and add a shipset from Mass Effect, for example. Roleplaying is fun and advised. You can also create your own ship designs, and build fleets using many of each. RTS battles are fine but not the focus. That’s fine, as building up your fleet and planning is the important part, not the battle per se (although there are many booms and flashes for you to **** game has improved a lot over the years, and is still being supported with new expansions/DLCs. And mods keep coming up. A must play if you’re intro strategy games.

Coming from almost 500 hours of playtime in Coh2, this felt like a punch in the gut. It seems relic completely forgot about its previous entry, and launched a game in a horrendous state on all fronts. No name tag on top of units when pressing a key, so you don’t know who controls each unit, a key to collaboration. Team colors were all over the place, confusing an enemy for a teammate because you got a complimentary color in the other team. These two are ridiculous, such a simple thing done wrong which greatly affects gameplay. A legion of UI/UX issues like this, accompanied by horrible balancing and a meta that changes hotfix after hotfix. From overpowered Guastatoris to a legion of medium british MBTs storming tigers as if they were nothing more than a pile of junk. Practically no progression, worse sound design than Coh2, the addition of an in-game store in one of the first updates with a broken game… The list is ever-growing, it was a disaster of a launch and a disaster ****. It is sad because I was really looking forward to it, but this was not it. The campaign was cool, even though it suffered from balancing and other problems when I played it. A sad death for a legend of the genre.

One of the best RTS games I’ve ever played, maybe the one I’ve played the most. Brutal and unforgivable, but extremely rewarding when successful. It is similar to XCOM in that regard. It’s not uncommon to get a unit obliterated in an instant, be it for an artillery shell, a tank shot or a blob of infantry around the corner. You must be fully concentrated to play this online, and can’t afford to make many mistakes. If you leave a unit unattended for a second it might get blown up by a grenade. If you look elsewhere for a couple seconds, your enemy might flank your MG and trigger a counterattack. There are a variety of nations to play with, and each is unique in its gameplay, units and abilities. Lots of commanders to choose from with their own abilities and toys that deepen your personal strategy. Depending on your allies and your own choices you will need to deploy a strategy or another. Covering each other’s weaknesses is key. It is true that newer factions like the OBK West and British Forces have some advantage in larger maps due to forward bases. It is true the allies need more micro-management, and the axis have more elite troops that require less attention. It is true that the axis rocket launchers are busted when compared to the allies. It is also true that stormtroopers are too good of a starting unit and the Wehrmacht’s mg42s are just vastly superior to any other alternative and cover almost a 180 degrees radius with absolute efficiency. I could go on and on about balance problems and inconsistencies but the point is the game is still fun, unique and different in how each faction plays and how each side plays. Each has its strengths and weaknesses which prevents a boring “on equal footing” combat. Ardennes Assault campaign is really cool to play, I’ve done it twice. Apart from that, I’ve mostly played the online mode with friends, suffering together late at night. It may very well be very frustrating to play and ruin your day if you play it competitively. It is epic, exhilarating, frustrating and a source of good and bad memories, but it will remain one of my favorite games of all time, that much I know.

Tense, spectacular, epic, exhilarating. A playable anime with the main pilot (yourself) as the hero/protagonist. Story/characters are not extremely deep but you get attached to them. It’s quite cinematic. Gameplay is outstanding, if you like fighters and a more arcade/fantasy setting, give this a try. There is a wide range of models from US/EU/RU mimicking their real counterparts. Each has their own weapons of choice. As you progress through the story you unlock the more advanced models. It’s graphically beautiful, really appealing on an HDR display. The jets are really well modeled and the effects are awesome. There is a nice attention to detail in wind, flaps and so on. Flying feels good, dogfighting and chasing objectives in record time feels good, just looking at the beautiful sky feels good, dark blue… If you want to become an ace pilot worthy of legend, this is it!

Bland, basic. Feels old to play, combat is really disappointing and the AI doesn't feel intelligent at all. The rest of the gameplay is just average, nothing to highlight. Worlds feel empty. It is full of loading screens, that immersive next gen experience they tried to sell is a lie. We are still stuck in Skyrim. Planets are divided in areas, and you must go through multiple loading screens to go to orbit and from orbit to another area or another planet. Ship combat feels worse than that of a PS2 game (I preferred Ratchet’s ship combat). Almost no reference environment props, so you don’t even feel like moving but rather stuck in a little sphere with an average skybox. The ship movement/combat dogfighting is less interesting than that of Battlefield/AceCombat. Graphically it also feels like a previous gen game. Debatable color palette choice, with a big presence of browns and grays that make everything look washed out and severely hurt the HDR experience. UI/UX is also at a loss. UI navigation is based on lots of “click holds” that slow your ability to enter certain movements and greatly frustrate you. UX wise, you can only see your active weapon downright, and you’re not even told you have a weapon wheel. So until you realize that by yourself, you’re stuck playing with the borderline sleepy UI swapping from one weapon to another when running out of ammo. Facials remind me of ME Andromeda when it launched, so there is no way to get immersed in a conversation. No character stood out during the time I played, and was uninterested by the story. Overall, my biggest complaint is the abysmal difference between what they were trying to sell and what the game actually is, as portrayed by last year’s game awards. No hard feelings towards the devs, just being honest and transparent.

The reference sci-fi survival horror. If you like horror games but want to trade blows with your nightmares this is it. One of the best remakes out there. Motive really nailed the first game’s feeling while tailoring it to current audiences and adapting everything that needed extra care. Graphics are amazing, sound design is deeply cared for and it shows. I absolutely love the vibes and feel this game gives, it’s a blast to play. The UI and animations are to be praised. This and Metro are top-tier references for integrated diegetic UI. It really helps at immersion, which this game is too good at. Managing your resources, paying attention to every single corner and sound, becoming paranoid every few seconds… The plasma cutter is back! I love this game’s toys, the weapons/gadgets are each unique and useful for certain enemies/situations and can be upgraded. Stasis and kinesis are really cool to use, combined with your weapons you'll create your own strategy. CUT OFF THEIR LIMBS! I honestly love this aspect of Dead Space, it makes combat much more interesting. You need to target the enemy’s weakness, not spray them. The plot is that of a horror movie. It’s mysterious and has some good twists. Isaac is given a voice here and I think it’s a cool improvement. The Ishimura and the levels/game progression are a marvel. No loading screens, just you and the ship. Levels are amazing in all possible ways, and incentivize you to play with kinesis throws. Abundant use of back-tracking, but still manages to feel different. Even if you go back to an area you know, be ready to get surprised. If you liked the original Dead Space, or if you are into Resident Evil, give it a go. One of the best games of 2023.

Simple "co-op" game in which you could just spam the same class and it would be mostly okay. It’s one of those horde-based games to play with friends to kill time. If you want some frenetic action without much planning it’s good. It’s visually really good. Progression is ok and each class has its own mechanics and weapons of choice, but it still does not go the extra co-op mile and create real needs between them in most cases. There is only one campaign mission, which makes clear that the game was planned to be long-term but then was abandoned after poor initial reception. Buy it at a discount to kill time with friends for a while, but I’d rather recommend something like Helldivers 2 for that.

A playable anime. Coming from Persona 5 Royal, it still feels like its own game. Both games are so eccentric and edgy. The UI and animations are to be praised, it's just so unique. I absolutely love the graphics and how they play with color (strong blue presence, stylized). A joy to watch, especially in HDR. Got super attached to the characters, the music is a banger and the plot is mysterious and interesting. I love the persona-style combat, the only downside in this one compared to P5 is that the baton pass is not upgraded, which incentivized its use a lot. It's sad because I prefer this game's transitions. Persona fusions and progression are simpler but similar, without the alarms of P5. The city is small, there is not much to explore. The secondary links are ok, with few of them catching my interest. Links with your colleagues come too late in the game, and only the girls have an actual link/arcana.Where this game fails is at its level design. Tartarus is P5’s Mementos V2 (or v0.5). It was the worst part of P5, and here it basically constitutes the majority of levels you’re gonna play. 250+ floors of small, procedurally-like levels that feel frustratingly boring and repetitive, even in the visual department. I just rushed through it as much as I could. Night time lacks stuff to do. Overall, it’s a great game, must-play if you like P5 Royal. Tartarus will be tough, but you will likely stay for the characters/plot/music and great combat/visuals.

Early-Access review: UNIQUE. One of the best co-op games I've ever played. It's complex and very deep mechanically. The submarine editor is an astonishing feat, I feel like I'm programming. There are many different systems, from submarine sections, air and water propagation, ballasts, electricity and circuitry, logic doors... The amount of possibilities in building your submarine seems endless. I've personnaly spent countless hours building a sub to use it on a campaign, and it is so rewarding. You're building your ship to your liking, and need to foul test it to detect design issues or bugs until you get it right. You even have wifi nodes, and you can actually build a drone ship which may attach to the sub and you may control from a PC in the main one (how cool is that?).Gameplay-wise, it's amazing. After building your sub, you need to assemble a crew and take advantage of its possibilities, manage it efficiently. Apart from that, you get your own character class, inventory management, resource-management, future-planning... Exploring the world is super fun, but it's also a horror experience. Tension is always palpable, and it is so immersive. Putting on your dive suit to go out and explore a cave, fighting with monsters or people alike, underwater or in interiors. Story/Plot was mostly superficial in EA, as well as factions and skill trees, so I'm not reviewing that. (No need, the rest is just so good ****'s a must play with at least a colleague.

Great survival horror. Great sound design. Both main characters are super likeable and well developed. I enjoyed controlling both characters and enjoying a bit different gameplay. Gorgeous to look at, great and to the point level design. I love the setting and the movie-like presentation (just like with RE2, Raccoon city). Resource-management, strategy and good timing are key to make it out alive. Sometimes a fight is not worth the bullets, other times you won't be given a choice. Starts with a great hook, was immediately immersed. The nemesis is a good improvement on RE2's tyrant. It simplifies stuff like the herbs as compared to 2, which I think is fine.I really like Jill :D.

Amazing game, mixing horror with gore similarly to Dead Space. Actually, there are many other similarities between the two that are cool to spot. I don't really love pure horror games, I find this mix really enjoyable, since you are given a chance to trade blows with the enemy. Both main characters are so likeable and well portrayed even for a short game like this one. Gorgeous to look at, outstanding levels with abundant use of backtracking. I love the setting and the movie-like presentation. Gameplay-wise, it is super interesting and demanding, always keeping you on your toes. Resource-management and strategy are key to make it out alive. Sometimes a fight is not worth the bullets, other times you won't be given a choice. Brutal initial cinematics, was immediately immersed and that is key for players to keep playing a game. Seems obvious, but so many (yes even AAAs) fail at this to this day.A classic and must-play, now time for 3 and 4 :).

Cool and mysterious concept, but it just didn't click with me and got unbearable to play. Gameplay is mostly about smashing buttons and I really don't like the combos. I just evade and hit and maintain shooting continuously and that does it. Initially, I liked the sequences mimicking other old genres like side-scrollers with the flying unit, but these genere and camera changes are a bit abused and I got bored quickly. I hate running around the map with no fast travel in sight (i checked and it is given mid game, but I just don't have it in me to make it there). Characters feel repetitive and a bit bland, and so does the game per se. If you check online, you'll see that it is based on multiple playthroughs with you repeating a lot of stuff and doing some new things. No way I would go through that when I'm already feeling it repetitive 3 hours **** thing I have to praise is the score. I'll remember getting to the machine village with everyone waving a white flag while that cute music is playing. I feel like it would take me too much time to maybe get to a point in which I actually enjoy playing, so I'm leaving it early.

The general loop concept is cool, I like the cart traversal, the paths and the thematic. Placing trinkets and combat items as well as planning at every moment is key. As for the combat, I like the mechanics and positioning rules. The amount of character abilities and combinations possible is very big and invites you to think a lot about composition. You'll die a lot, if you don't like that or thinking stuff a bit too much this is not your game. Otherwise, it is a fun run. The stress events almost always end up in meltdown so I feel they are pointless. Progression relies on rerunning the level, getting candles and buying upgrades, as well as visiting shrines to unlock caracter abilities. It may be a bit grindy and gets a bit repetitive. I only completed the Denial chapter and took 10+ hours, and feel I've had enough.

An experience to remember. A playable anime. A benchmark for JRPGs and turn-based games. A 100+ hours journey into changing the hearts of the wicked and yourselves.Takes place over a bit more than a full school year, and lets you mostly decide what you do with your free time. Will you bond with a certain character, work a part-time job, fulfill people's requests, improve your social stats... It may seem repetitive at first and I can say that it is after a long time playing, but the game makes sure to relieve you of it with story beats and events. It also lets you move forward quite fast if you so desire. I fancy that the game lets you choose and asks you to put time into planning what you want to do, who you want to focus on... This is the best school-anime out **** story and the characters are one in the same, and the central pillar of the game. The characters are all so charismatic and unique. You grow very attached to them over such a long exposure time. The game has such fantastic vibes to it. The UI and its transitions are splendid (it's cool to navigate the menus and the in-game UI is amazing too), the game is full of colour and personality. This eccentric personality is present in everything you see and do, from the story to the characters to the gameplay to the UI to the music...Special mention to the music too, deserves an award. Jazz-voiced tracks make the game feel so much better and are truly key in creating unforgettable moments. I can't stop listening to the OST. It's unreal how good the music and SFX are.Gameplay-wise, I love the staging. 4 characters with their personas, with proper animations, camera angles and voiceover to accompany their actions. Hell, just hearing Ryuji shout "PERSONAAAAA" during one of the main boss fights with amazing background music is already a treat to my senses. The weakness, technical, ailments and stats system is broad but simple to understand. I love the inclusion of many support skills and specially the baton pass, it's such a great mechanic and hypes you up. The showtimes are such a nice treat too, I loved Ann/Morgana, Ryuji/Yusuke and Joker/Akechi showtimes. There are also a bunch of chance-based events that help break **** idea of Joker having multiple personas and being able to fuse them to obtain more powerful ones with shared abilities is super cool. I really enjoyed gathering personas to see what I could obtain. Having multiple personas allows you to plan your deck and make sure you have abilities for all situations. Feels like Pokemon in that **** story is super interesting and mysterious. The moment of truth is so good it reminds me of Detective Conan's "The Clash of Red and Black" arc. It was most likely the best and most intricate arc in the whole series. The sheer amount of details was mind-blowing, and the same can be said for this game. From that point forward, it is a non-stop rollercoaster. Full of memorable moments and charged with **** was sad to let go and say goodbye to the characters. The game is super long (100 hours) and this is both a liability and a strength. It amplifies emotions and exposure which helps bonding with the world/story/characters but at the same time it took me a month to play. Could it be trimmed somehow? Would it lose part of its charm? Maybe, guess I'll never know.Such a long review and I still think I'm missing stuff. This is a must-play, take it easy and don't try to rush it, it will make for one hell of an experience.Sayonara Kokoro no Kaitou-dan

Final Fantasy XV: Royal Edition8
Feb 24, 2024
I dislike the first part of the game, focused on spending time on a rail-roaded car in a simple open world with slow pacing and boring secondary missions. Gameplay wise it is not too fun and it depends completely on warping and AI aggressiveness doesn't let you act very freely. The skill tree requires too much grinding and if you focus on primaries you end up with very few abilities. As other FF, sponges everywhere (god I hate infinite health bars). I'd recommend playing on easy if you want to focus on primaries/main story and avoid excessive difficulty due to lack of grinding secondaries and facing even more ominous sponges. After this first open world part, the game falls back to a more typical rail roaded experience, which I actually prefer and think makes the game shine more. Story and character development get a boost and become the main focus. The game improves a lot in this second part though it is still tied to the same gameplay and some repetition. Music is amazing, cinematics are top tier and visuals/facials help transmit emotions properly. I'd give a good review to the base **** problem with FF15 comes down to its dependency on other content, including transmedia. First, the DLCS (Episode of...) add a lot of story and background to the characters which really improve on the base game. Each episode has special gameplay for the character you control. For me, the ideal FF15 base game would have had this DLCS from the start, placed chronologically in the main story. Also, I would have followed the FF7 remake gameplay idea of swapping between the different characters in combat and combining the different gameplay of the characters. Then we have the Kingslaive film, which is amazing and a true gift to fans. It acts as a prologue to the game and helps complete the **** story and further develop other characters. The game was also accompanied by a 5 episode short anime series which shines some light on the 4 main friends background. When considering FF15 as the combination of base game + DLCS + Film + Anime it turns out into an amazing piece of entertainment. The story/characters/lore/cinematics/music of all these combined are a feat to reckon. So I'd recommend anyone to give the universe a chance and not stick to the base game. If you go for the whole product, it is great!

Over time, you'll start to unveil the mysteries of this particular reality and have a clearer purpose. It's full of magical moments, and since you are not handolded it is very rewarding to progress forward. A memorable space adventure pieced together by the player itself. The good: Barely anything, combat gets better once you have multiple spell sets and swap between them in comnbat, so you can cast spells **** bad: Assignments are tedious and boring. They might ask you to grind money to buy a potion and drink it so you can obtain a spell. I have not used potions or plants due to how tedious or expensive they are to obtain. The enormous open world is as always filled with bandit camps and disgusting secondary missions which may include the famed and super fun delivery missions. Just like the hogwarts we all imagines, tenebrous and mysterious, with characters full of charismatic characters with their own agendas and backstori... Well nope, it is none of that. Characters are simple and lack any kind of emotion, mostly due to how bad the facial animation is. I've even hated my own character due to how goofy it always is, even in serious moments. I won't remember any character from this game, the professors barely have any meaningful interaction with you (You will be presented with the headmaster at the beginning and then proceed to forget about him until the end of the game). The hogwarts of the films feels bigger and deeper than this one. The open world doesn't help! All the contrary to be honest. Would have preferred a carefully crafted railroaded experience closer to the harry potter era, maybe before him as a prequel. Hell, you could reuse many of the characters that are already so carefully crafted instead of making these. Many feel like portraits just like the keepers, and I'm sorry to say it like this.Just like AC Origins, forces you to do painfully boring secondary missions in order to progress with the story. In this game they just block the primaries until you've reached the required level. Brilliant idea so the players are forced to go over content they don't care about. If you make an open world, you must be ready to let the player decide which content they want to play and which to miss. I haven't been able to see the final feast of the term as the required level is 34 and I, after finishing the story, I'm level 25 (only way I'm completing the field guide and secondaries to reach that is having someone cast imperio on me).Would only recommend as a time killer and if you really like the wizarding world, but even then you might be extremely disappointed. Even so the list of bad things is too big for me to recommend this.

The good: Visually impressive, a really polished mix of anime/real aesthetic. The animations are stunning. These game's cinematics invite to think of an animated series due to how damn good many of them are. The music is just as good, so catchy and is key in creating memorable moments. In love with the characters and plot, which to me are the main strength of the game. They are all so likeable in their own way, while very different from each other. Not only the main characters are good, but the antagonists are too. Well represented by their japanese VAs. The plot is mysterious and difficult to understand due to its fantasy nature. The ending is specially unique, but for me this is a strength too, I'm more hyped to see how it develops in the future.Gameplay wise, the game went from normal to great. I think I didn't get the idea right from the start, and the combinations of materia and tactics are not so straightforward to get. It took me more than half of the game to start swapping between characters super fast to charge their ATB bars faster and attract the enemies attention, making it easier for you to go back to a character which is close and take a few hits. Constant swapping and combining abilities when possible is the best part of it. I really liked the idea of combined attacks from Intermission, hopefully they keep and improve it.I liked the motorbike sections and absolutely loved the feel and cinematics from the last one (Cloud is such a **** bad: The subtitles are horrible, like out of this world. How can you translate "I'll be your opponent" to "Come here, bitc..." among other very obvious examples (A simple "yes" translated into "Go Team!"). This is a catastrophic kind of error, to say the least. It changes the meanings of some scenes, making characters feel how they shouldn't. They add words and expressions that harm the game. Hell, they even translate a simple "Haaah" into a complete sentence which you absolutely cannot hear. Translation is not always exact, but it should be faithful, and this one is clearly not. They took as much freedom as they wanted or just translated from another language. So please Square find another team to do the translation next time, because this one is borderline a lie. I have not studied japanese, but thankfully after so much time exposed to it I'm able to catch a lot of expressions/words and make sense out of sentences. I'd recommend considering the English dub to anyone who can't understand anything so you don't get the wrong **** secondaries are horrible. Can't believe we still have the typical delivery guy ones, gathering the kids so they come back home. Won't even elaborate, but I'd suggest skipping most and checking online what they unlock (the first ones unlock a scene with Tifa for example). Also, sponges (god how much I hate infinite health **** excessive level interaction animations (stairs up and down, passing slowly through a gap, etc). Gets me real bored. The section with the robotic arms is horribly dull.Dialogue wise, I think they could avoid some excessive repetition. I felt like too many "Cmon we can do it" were used in certain sections of the game, diminishing how the difficulties impact the characters (after 5 of them it turns into a ****'t get the wrong idea by the length of the bad things. I loved the game and I'm all into the franchise now, and so hyped for the next game. I'd recommend anyone to watch or play "Crisis Core" which is a prequel to this and will help you understand some things.

Nostalgy. Charismatic characters, goofiness, friendship, adventure, unique and action packed gameplay. Always liked the amount of weapons/gadgets available for you to express yourself in battle. It is targeted at kids, as the saga has always been, but still proves to be fun to grown ups. The port is fantastic on high end hardware, visually amazing with almost unnoticeable delays due to the rift jumps (changing scenario rifts). DualSense is a nice touch but sometimes I just forget about it. The characters are so lovable, Dr Nefarious never gets old :D. I loved the introduction of Rivet and would have liked to further develop the main characters relationship. It is short but straightforward/ rail roaded, which I really like. It focuses on the story and what matters, with very few secondary missions. I miss giving more importance to the starship (in a past game it was playable) and to races (maybe with the hoverboots?). Great! Best graphics in the industry, path tracing with a good HDR monitor is stunning. I really liked the characters. I grew to really like having Johnny around, and was invested in the story. Many decisions to take and shape your V (I really like creating my V) I love the separation between aesthetics and equipment, so I can wear whatever I like without stats penalty.Shooting is simple, gets better with double jumps, hacks and the Sandevistan but could be improved. I completely ignored melee combat, not sure if I did well or not. Driving feels nice. Quests and companion questlines were nice, but other quests can be ignored. Some things feel half-baked or without much purpose. Having a laptop at home, with no major function in it, being able to buy apartments just for the sake of it, the same goes for cars. Bad launch! The world could be more immersive, there is not much to do outside missions.Question: Would this have worked better as a third person shooter?Overall, really nice game! Looking forward to Phantom Liberty!UPDATE 2.0 + Phantom Liberty:Graphics are even better, no artifacts in path tracing. The DLC is analogous to Blood & Wine, it really adds a lot. The spy story/plot keeps you interested at all times and is quite mysterious and brutal. The new characters are so cool (especially Reed). They really have those secret agent vibes one would expect, while keeping them grounded to the cyberpunk reality. The new courier and loot drop mini missions are a welcome addition and invite you to move around the map a bit more than in the original. I even did some of the new gigs in Dogtown and they were entertaining. Dogtown per se is small but deeper, what I like the **** 2.0 changes turn the game around. The new skill tree is much better and is interesting to develop. This time I went with a cyberware/melee build with huge mobility (completely opposed to what I did in OG except for the sandy) and it proved to be much more interesting, I actually enjoyed the gameplay. Stats and gear are more straightforward. Vehicle combat is a cool addition but rather unused (should have been used in a couple missions at least).I was a bit sad to not have another version of the final mission (playable) to put all my deeply caredfor build to work.Overall, cyberpunk is now one of the best games out there, finally!

Unique. The Metro saga is super special for its grounded shooting mechanics and diegetic UI, like gas masks and bullet count on weapons. The story and characters are great, and grow nicely over time. The weapons and inventory system are one of the best out there, so grounded! In love with the Tikhar!Exodus takes one major leap in respect the past two games, it is a semi open world, with different big areas to explore along with more rail roaded areas. Metro still shines brighter in the Metro/ closed areas though. The environments are not too big which makes them not get too boring. The game looks, feels and sounds amazingly. It has a simple decisions system based on morality, but it could be **** world is so immersive and sometimes scary.

The Last of Us Part I10

My favourite game. Totally in love with the characters, Joel and Ellie and its relationship. Immersive, grounded world, exhilarating story full of love, terrific OST. Level design is to be praised. Beautiful environments. Stealth, combat and resource management are very grounded and may feel too simple for some. Simple and few abilities/weapons. Bad release on PC with lots of bugs but hopefully will get fixed over **** game is a rollercoaster of emotions, a must play.

God of War10

An experience to remember. In love with the characters, the story, the music, the world... Nothing feels out of place. The sheer quality of the animations and effects... gorgeous to look at. An exhilarating adventure, always so excited to discover what's next, to see how the character's relationship progresses, how the story unveils. The music is terrific, spot on.Combat is fun and not too difficult. Doesn't move away from the hit+evade paradigm, I wish it was more brutal/visceral and we had less sponges as enemies. It would feel much more like **** thing I disliked is the equipment progression, I spent way too much time with some pieces and really didn't look forward to obtaining anything. Also, I have the tendency of saving resources in case I need them to upgrade future gear that might be more future-proof, and this hurts early stages. I'd rather have a clearer path in this regard, so you could take decisions early on and plan ahead, manage resources accordingly. This is not a problem that is unique to this game but to most RPGs. Even after grinding ivalid's workshop for an endgame setup I could barely scratch the last valkyrie, too much of a difficulty gap there, had to lower difficulty for that fight.A must play, glad that PS is bringing their best games to PC so other players can enjoy them.Looking forward to Ragnarok when it comes around :).
