Being able to raise and lower your hood at any time is cool, and the removal of those god-awful tailing missions with the immediate fail states is a blessing. But unless I'm missing something, Resynced might be adding as many problems to Black Flag as it's addressing. [Hands-On Impressions]

After a handful of hours playing this remake of one of the best Assassin’s Creed games, I’m pretty sold on replaying through it in its entirety when it comes out later this year. [Hands-On Impressions]

The overall gameplay experience, with its reworked action, vibrant, updated visuals, and re-recorded voice lines, is a treat and an excellent proof of concept for Ubisoft’s first-ever remake. I’m cautiously optimistic about the complete package, as tweaks to the modern-day story and the new endgame missions that add to Edward’s already-complete narrative remain to be seen. Still, I’m already confident Black Flag Resynced will replace the original game’s icon on my desktop this July. [Hands-On Impressions]

The world is stunning; bigger and fuller with things to do than ever before. The gameplay is polished and so smooth. And for players accustomed to either the original or the recent franchise entries, the remake does an incredible job of merging the feel of playing both to create the ideal version of what Black Flag can be. This is going to be a game very well worth raising your flag and singing sea shanties along to. [Hands-On Impressions]

Assassin’s Creed Black Flag is arguably the best entry in the entire franchise, so a remake makes the most sense. But if you’ve played the title already, it really comes down to your affinity for Kenway’s adventures and your curiosity about the new content that will dictate whether this remake is appealing. If you haven’t played Black Flag, though, this feels like the definitive Assassin’s Creed experience, and one that has been handled with love and care. [4-Hour Hands-On Impressions]

Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced is a game to look out for, whether you played the original or want to give this relatively standalone instalment a go when it launches in just under two months. It flirts with the past, adds new elements and is packaged in a style that has been almost synonymous with Capcom in recent years when it comes to lavish remakes. [Hands-On Impressions]

What struck me most is that while this isn’t just a new game, totally rewritten and re-presented, all of the small improvements in Resynced — better movement here, more intuitive controls there, enhanced art and environments over here, and improved exploration there — genuinely add up to the game being greater than the sum of its parts. It's a remake of a classic 13-year-old game, yes, but it feels like, and plays like, something bigger and better. [Hands-On Impressions]

Resynced is a remake that is overflowing with love for the original. From the brief time we spent playing, it’s clear that Ubisoft has approached it with a focus on capturing all that made the original so iconic. Not content to just recreate, they’ve taken things further by knocking off some of the original’s rough edges while simultaneously building upon it further. [Hands-On Impressions]

I had a great time with this return to Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced. This, to me, could go down as one of the very best game remakes, from the graphical upgrades to the gameplay and progression tweaks and the smattering of new missions. [Hands-On Impressions]

This is a remake, then, that justifies itself the more you dig into it. And because of the depth that becomes more apparent the deeper you dive, I can forgive the graphical peculiarities and engine quirks that crop up here and there. I went into Black Flag Resynced dubious, but left charmed by Ubisoft's clear understanding of what makes this one of the most enduring entries in the Assassin's Creed oeuvre. [Hands-On Impressions]
