Fresh setting and vibrant locations belie some serious gameplay issues, like very uneven difficulty and sluggish movement of the main character. [Issue#265, p.66]

In just three days, 10 million copies were sold, making it one of the fastest-selling games ever. A game about Chinese mythology may not be so accessible in Western countries, but Black myth: Wukong is simply a rock-solid action game. So flashy and simply beautiful that you'll happily forgive its minor shortcomings.

Black Myth: Wukong is a mediocre game in a shiny wrapper. Reading descriptions of enemies is much more interesting than fighting them.

Хорошая развлекательная игра. Из минусов последняя глава не понравилась, локация просто мимо пролетает...

combat is a disaster, no pleasure even after beating the deliberately unintuitive design of enemy's attack.

Mucho hype con este juego, no está mal pero me esperaba más. Apretar el botón de golpear hasta que lo desgastes. Ambientación y gráficos muy buenos.

To look at Black Myth: Wukong purely through the lens of market sizes and tastes is a disservice that obscures the most critical fact of all: it’s a fantastic game.

Statistically Black Myth: Wukon is a phenomenon of 2024. The game breaks online records and demonstrates the power of Chinese game development. The main thing is not to expect something brilliant from it and forgive the flaws - then you will have a great time.

Black Myth: Wukong uses the wonderful canvas of Chinese mythology to draw you into its world that is both beautiful and dangerous. Struggling at times to fully tell its story, its narrative mostly gives the game structure while leaving out a lot of detailed substance hoping for you to somehow make it make sense. Sure, the game’s emphasis is combat, but for a soulslike game that looks this beautiful and has so much lore attached to it, you would hope it also spent more time focusing on its story. Its combat offers you plenty of ways to experiment what works for you, but it also offers you enough difficulty to keep you on your toes and adapting to each new situation. These elements make for a game that rewards you with the thrill of a battle and doesn’t punish you too much for making mistakes. While its world is not the easiest to explore or to comprehend, Wukong’s rewards are worth it and make for a thrilling journey of discovery.

After a complicated first approach, Black Myth Wukong opened its doors to us (literally) and we have to say that we would have been disappointed to miss out on its adventure. Supported by one of the most exhilarating gameplays of recent years, Game Science's game offers us a skillfully measured challenge that makes us want to discover more each time. Not so linear after all, the journey of the Predestined would have gained from being more concise and erasing its most extensive portions to focus on the essentials. In any case, for this grand premiere, the game honors its promise in terms of immersion, game system and entertainment, even if we regret the lack of rhythm, the redundancy of the level design and a few slight flaws. The creators of Black Myth Wukong have made their science speak: the formula is not perfect but the alchemy works!

This is an action RPG whose focus is less on punishing, labyrinthine environments and more on delivering precise, melee-based combat encounters that put the Destined One’s agility to the test.

Black Myth: Wukong’s combat system doesn’t have anything that makes it truly unique. The variety in ways to tackle combat is often lacking, and it doesn’t feel all that good to play either. That said, the concept of creating openings for the enemy rather than exploiting them is interesting, and by rewarding players who take full advantage of the few chances the game gives you, it makes its boss encounters worthwhile despite its lacking combat system. Character customization and exploration is on the thin side too, and the story is hard to follow if you haven’t read Journey to the West. However, the impressive graphics make every moment of the game look like a painting. Experiencing this world based on classic Chinese literature through the game’s unique vision is still worth your time.

Black Myth: Wukong is a stunning game to look at, but the exploration is lacking, and the fighting is just sort of fine for the most part. It's just a bit uninspiring, and isn't a game that I'm expecting to stick with me for any length of time now that I'm done with it.

Best game I've played in a long time, enjoyable gameplay, I only encountered 2 bugs in 70 hours of play, fantastic graphics, Ubisoft should do an internship there.

Black Myth Wukong has high highs and, unfortunately, low lows. The setting, story/characters, and art design are truly one of a kind and I could not get enough of them. The music videos at the end of each chapter were my favorite part of the game. The staff stances and free re-specs made for easy, on the fly build variety. Chapters 1 and 6, and most of 5, provided fun and challenging fights that I genuinely had to learn the boss movesets to beat. Chapters 2-4 were so easy that I did not die in combat more than a handful of times across all THREE of these chapters. The bosses did not do enough damage and their attacks never punished you for healing or spamming attacks. I nearly gave up on the game after chapter 3 due to the combat's stagnation but I am glad I persevered because chapters 5 and 6 had some incredible fights. Overall, a fun experience in a novel setting. Hoping for more thoughtful combat and boss OSTs in the sequel.

An absolute dumbsterfire. Not only it has horrible performance problems, the gameplay is a slog, maps are empty, filled with STORE ASSETS and graphically uninspired and boring looking game. There's no redeeming qualities, an average at best story fused with unreal garbage graphics and ripetitive damage spunge bosses. An assetflip with a pricetag of a AAA game is a joke

The worst combat system of the decade. Animations are far too long and too often limit control of the character: you press Y but nothing happens because the dodge animation is still finishing; you press B to dodge but it doesn’t work because the character is still completing the get-up animation, and so on.Aside from the breathtaking, truly excellent graphics, there’s basically nothing left. The worst combat system ever — compared to this, Dark Souls 1’s combat system is pure gold.
SummaryBlack Myth: Wukong is an action RPG rooted in Chinese mythology. The story is based on Journey to the West, one of the Four Great Classical Novels of Chinese literature. You shall set out as the Destined One to venture into the challenges and marvels ahead, to uncover the obscured truth beneath the veil of a glorious legend from the past... Read More
