This is probably the best of the franchise not to carry Raimi’s name as director (though he serves as a producer) because of how it locates its own sense of ingenuity and worthwhile homage.

This baby will scare the bejesus out of you, relentlessly and mercilessly, but that’s all there is.

People are saying that Rise (2023) is better than Burn. Don't believe a word they say! Vanicek and co. delivered exactly what we expect from the Evil Dead franchise without Ash in it. I absolutely enjoyed this gorefest with subtle touches of humor that perfectly fit this series!

Vanicek delivers the pain, the brutality, and the technical craftsmanship. What he doesn't quite recapture is the mischievous spirit that made audiences grin even as they watched through their fingers.

This latest instalment of the long-running franchise makes less of an impact than its predecessors. Nevertheless, this tale of a troubled family battling a demonic infestation has some inventively schlocky setpieces and a strong central performance from Souheila Yacoub, and will undoubtedly prove a winner with horror fans looking for a fun time.

Evil Dead Burn throws a bunch of guts against the wall to see what sticks. Filmmakers want the audience to laugh and cover their eyes in disgust. They want to deliver pathos when Alice reckons with her husband’s true nature. The movie ends up falling flat on all fronts.

Evil Dead Burn may just be the most gruesome Evil Dead movie yet… but that’s about where its heat begins to cool off.

As a fan of the series, this one was fantastic. Some great camera work that really set it apart from most horror films I’ve seen. Over the top gore, which is to be expected from Evil Dead, but I felt the director did it true to the series, adding that Raimi-esque charm and humor as a counter balance. Highly recommended for those that enjoyed previous iterations of Evil Dead.

To understand what Evil Dead Burn gets wrong, you have to understand what made this franchise worth caring about in the first place. Sam Raimi's original trilogy constantly reinvented itself. The 1981 original was raw guerrilla horror, Evil Dead 2 became horror comedy, and Army of Darkness transformed the series into medieval fantasy. Three films, three completely different identities, all united by a refusal to repeat themselves. That chaos is what made Evil Dead special.Fede Álvarez's 2013 reboot worked because it committed to a brutal, serious vision without relying on Bruce Campbell or nostalgia. Rise moved the action to a Los Angeles apartment building and gave us Alyssa Sutherland's unforgettable Ellie, one of the best Deadites the franchise has ever produced. It wasn't flawless, but it expanded the series in a meaningful way.Evil Dead Burn feels like it simply asks, what if we did it again?Alice, played by Souheila Yacoub (Dune: Part Two), mourns her abusive husband Will alongside the family who ignored his violence for years. It is a genuinely compelling setup. A woman trapped inside a house with the people who protected the man who hurt her could have become the franchise's most psychologically complex story. From the moment the possession begins at Will's funeral, however, the story follows a very familiar **** gore is undeniably effective. Burn delivers some of the nastiest practical effects the series has produced, with several sequences leaving my entire cinema silent. Vaniček stages the violence with confidence, and moments like Joseph briefly returning to humanity after being stabbed with the Kandarian dagger provide the film's strongest emotional moment.Unfortunately, everything surrounding those highlights is far less effective.Burn is easily the most predictable Evil Dead film yet. You know who survives almost immediately. You know the false victories, the escalation, and exactly how the climax will unfold. Three films into this modern era, every entry ends with a woman walking away from the wreckage. That is not the problem by itself. The problem is repetition. Horror depends on uncertainty, and Burn rarely offers any. That makes the choice of director particularly frustrating. Sébastien Vaniček's Infested was one of the most distinctive horror debuts in recent years, full of visual personality and relentless tension. Burn rarely feels like it was directed by the same filmmaker. Whether because of studio oversight or franchise expectations, much of that identity has disappeared, leaving behind a technically polished but creatively safe film.Rise certainly had flaws, especially its oversized final monster, but it explored family trauma beneath the carnage. Burn introduces themes of domestic abuse before abandoning them in favor of the next violent set piece.Ironically, the post credits scene is the most interesting part of the ending. Seeing Ellie from Rise return through a mirror is a genuinely intriguing tease for the future of the franchise. I only wish it followed a stronger film.**Evil Dead Burn earns a 6/10.**Souheila Yacoub is excellent, the gore is memorable, and Vaniček proves he understands the series visually. But technical competence is not enough. Evil Dead became iconic because it embraced chaos, experimentation, and creative risk. Burn executes a familiar formula well, but for a franchise built on unpredictability, that may be its biggest failure.

Me gustó el gore, los efectos especiales y varias escenas muy memorables. Sin embargo, no logré conectar con los personajes porque eran desagradables, y el guion está lleno de decisiones cuestionables y situaciones demasiado exageradas.

A terrible movie, both in terms of direction and screenwriting. A complete waste of time. The acting is downright embarrassing, and the script offers very little to redeem the film.
It’s genuinely disappointing to see a franchise with so much potential reduced to something like this. This movie simply does not represent what the Evil Dead brand has to offer.

The movie is a pathetic attempt to cash in on the Evil Dead name. I don't mind a new vision or reinventing the franchise, but this is sooo bad. Bad, bad, bad—obnoxiously bad. Everything is pure, unrefined trash except for the gore
