The world is incredibly detailed, so instead of rushing to the next quest objective, make sure to take your time and let it all soak in. [Issue#264,p.58]
Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is the first game in the series in a long time that I enjoyed. It expands the classic JRPG and FF VII Remake. And there is no doubt that Square Enix saved all the most interesting and exciting things for the final part of the trilogy.

FFVII Rebirth ends up a messy game, then, but its ambitious swings pay off more often than not. Make no mistake, this is an absolutely epic journey that sends you out to explore a huge world, with real-time combat that makes your party feel like one great big team in a way few other games have ever managed to accomplish. The story in this middle entry doesn’t quite stick the landing, but the game built around it absolutely does, raising the bar significantly for RPGs of this scope. While taking a swing at fate’s threads feels narratively underserved, Rebirth still presents a planet and people worth fighting for right through to the bitter end. [Issue#39, p.68]

Luxurious is how I would describe the feeling of playing FFVII Rebirth. It’s borderline elitist to experience it in its entirety. It’s a carnival of fun, fresh ideas that are oftentimes a little too shy to take center stage owing to outdated open world mechanics and mundane, Ubisoft-style checklists. Everything good about it is when it embraces the Japanese philosophy of game design (in other words: capturing the original FFVII’s spirit), and everything bad about it is when it complies with western tropes and gimmicks, and practically bows down to market-tested AAA trends. It’s an overall great title with sadly too much filler content in the end, and I would’ve enjoyed it more had it been a fully linear game instead. The story takes some steep turns here and there, but it’s all a moot point.

Wow, what an adventure! After completing a game that took over 200 hours, seeing the credits roll is simply amazing. Looking back and remembering the feats accomplished within the game and appreciating a world design capable of captivating and holding your attention is incredible. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth takes on the difficult task of succeeding the acclaimed 2020 title (my personal Game of the Year). Historically, the specialized press has shown a certain shortsightedness or lack of perspective in appreciating the complexity and scope of this franchise's installments upon release. Despite this, the longevity and emotional impact on those of us who love the franchise ultimately grant the game its rightful **** transition from the oppressive walls of Midgar to the vastness of the outside world is executed masterfully. Rebirth doesn't simply replicate the map of the 1997 PS1 game; it expands its world. Each continent introduces unique mechanics, regional tasks, and an environmental narrative that gives meaning to exploration. The journey across continents doesn't feel repetitive; on the contrary, it's like a profound reconstruction of the planet's geography, where each area concludes with a well-justified narrative and gameplay **** battle system represents the definitive evolution of the Action-RPG genre. It far surpasses its predecessor, delivering absolute fluidity that eliminates any sense of pause or rigidity, achieving constant dynamism. The strategic depth also generates a new framework of materia, allowing for superior synergies. This transforms pre-battle preparation into a fascinating tactical puzzle, where a single boss can demand hours of customization. And last but not least, there's synchronization, which adds synchronized attacks with companions, creating visual spectacle and developing essential mechanical tools that reward team management and strengthen party **** main Achilles' heel of Rebirth lies in the overexploitation of its minigames. While quests like Blood of the Queen and Fort Condor are brilliant, addictive, and of exceptional quality (with side quests that enrich the lore), their overall integration becomes overwhelming. The design makes the mistake of making the discovery of secret areas and the expansion of the story contingent on the mandatory completion of these activities. Investing 10 to 15 consecutive hours in side quests dilutes the urgency of the main plot and completely halts the flow of an epic adventure.Chadley's simulation ecosystem and the summoning challenges impose a significant barrier of frustration. By raising the difficulty to the series' highest level, the game abandons flexibility and demands ultra-specific character and materia compositions for each enemy. This rigidity, coupled with an unavoidable element of luck in later battles, breaks the organic connection with the game and punishes the player with hours of trial and error. Likewise, Hard Mode redefines the challenge to an extreme degree compared to the scaling seen in the **** conclusion, and despite its mechanical excesses, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth stands as an unforgettable experience that stays with you. The beauty of its soundtrack, which respects the original nostalgia through monumental arrangements, and the impact of chapters like the Gold Saucer or the Loveless scene are so virtuosic that they manage to erase the moments of frustration caused by Chadley or the minigames. This RPG boasts a high level of production quality, AAA budget, and graphical ambition that are very rare in Japanese RPGs. The ending, by intertwining the destinies and worlds of Zack, Cloud, and Sephiroth, is a surprising stroke of genius that perfectly sets the stage for the eagerly awaited conclusion in the third installment. RATING 9.5/10

I played Final Fantasy VII Rebirth right after finishing Remake, and I was really looking forward to it. In between, I tried getting into the original because I'd heard it could help understand the story better, but I ended up dropping it — and that worried me. I thought maybe Rebirth wouldn't hook me as much. It was the complete opposite. I loved it. It's a brilliant game. They've improved so many things that didn't quite work for me in Remake: the fluidity of movement, the exploration, that more open and visually stunning world. Everything is executed beautifully, and it reminds me a lot of Kingdom Hearts, especially in that group dynamic and the sense of friendship that builds up gradually. The story has a lot of Nomura in it: it invites you to question things, leaves loose ends, plays with time jumps and multiple realities. It's a bit convoluted, yes, but in the same intentional way Kingdom Hearts is. You can tell it's all part of the plan. The soundtrack is outstanding. The open world is enormous — it took me around 70 hours and could have been more, but at some point I felt I needed to close this chapter. I'd love to be able to 100% it on a portable version someday, because it's exactly the kind of world that asks you to explore it at your own pace. The combat is another highlight: a perfect hybrid between strategy and action that takes the best of Final Fantasy XV, the classic VII, and the turn-based system, and pushes it further. And the characters — their stories go so much deeper this time, which I really appreciated. The ending left me with a knot in my stomach. But I get it. That's exactly what it's going for. And now I can't wait for Part 3.

It will be nearly impossible to evaluate Final Fantasy VII Rebirth outside of the trilogy as a whole in the years to come. But right now nothing is stopping us from doing so. To put it succinctly, Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is one of the finest games in Square Enix's entire history.

What Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth does is challenge the idea that FF7 can't be topped within its own in-game universe; in my eyes, that's already been done, in the middle game of a trilogy no less, and now we'll just have to wait and see if Square Enix can stick the landing on what's been an incredible, must-play two-parter thus far.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is, in my opinion, the perfect example of how to create an unforgettable gaming experience. From its story and world design to its gameplay, it feels as though every aspect of the game was crafted with passion and extraordinary attention to **** story is emotionally engaging and expands upon the events of the original in exciting and meaningful ways. The characters are incredibly well written, and their relationships develop naturally throughout the adventure, making every major story moment feel **** world itself is breathtaking. Every region feels distinct, alive, and worth exploring. The amount of care that went into building this world is evident in every environment, from bustling settlements to vast open landscapes filled with secrets and **** gameplay is where Rebirth truly shines. The combat system builds upon the foundation established in Remake and refines it into something exceptional. Battles are fast-paced, strategic, and consistently rewarding, offering a level of variety that keeps the experience fresh from beginning to end.Even the minigames deserve special praise. Rather than feeling like simple distractions, they are lovingly designed and surprisingly polished. Each one has its own charm and personality, adding even more depth and variety to an already outstanding experience. It's clear that an incredible amount of effort went into making every piece of content feel meaningful and enjoyable.Simply put, it's hard to imagine how this game could have been designed any better. Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is a remarkable achievement that combines an engaging story, an incredible world, outstanding gameplay, and an unmatched level of craftsmanship.

There is a new contender for the "which Final Fantasy game is the best?" debates now. But if you ask me "which is the best Final Fantasy VII?", them we have a clear winner.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth expands upon the 2020 Remake by offering a more captivating story, enhanced gameplay mechanics, and a more expansive world. However, some players might find themselves slightly impeded by pacing issues and Square Enix's overly ambitious endeavors.

Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth is a loving recreation of the original’s second act, elevated by an impressive level of commitment and confidence and only held back by the occasional wobble.

I don’t regret the 100 hours (or was it more?) that I spent in Final Fantasy VII Rebirth. In fact, I loved so much about the game. I loved the expanded party of characters. Vincent's my boy and he shows up in style, Yuffie's my girl and she brings much-needed energy into the main cast. I also loved visiting iconic locations like Costa del Sol and the Gold Saucer for the first time in their remade form. Most of all, I love and adore the work that Kazushige Nojima has done with the narrative (especially the ending that, once again, challenges everything we assumed about the FFVII plot), and he further entrenches himself as arguably the most innovative and creative writer in JRPGs with Rebirth. I just really wish that Square Enix had resisted putting so much padding and pointless distractions between all that good stuff. Why undermine the things you do best like that?

Square Enix has built a world that really is beautiful, filled with pleasurable diversions. But the contrast between the pleasure of playing Final Fantasy VII Rebirth and the dourness of its plot often ends up confusing things. It’s less apocalypse now than apocalypse later.

Another beautiful entry in this trilogy, Rebirth does everything right and improves on the fantastic combat system in place in Remake. Characters new and familiar have fantastic depth. Music is absolutely peak as it was in remake. There is huge maps to explore and tons of side content to complete. If you're a completionist you better set a lot of time aside before you start this entry. This is the right way to do the middle entry in the trilogy and sets up what's going to be an amazing finale.

Final Fantasy VII Rebirth is just an overrated game.Sustained by a heavy dose of fanservice to blind the nostalgic and emotional audience while thinking it can dictate what is right or wrong for the current game and acting as if it could be better than the original.

First off, this game is about 40 hours of main story, and 80 hours of side content. The 40 hours of main story are a 9/10, but the 80 hours of side content are a 1/10, a complete chore, and an entire waste of the player's time. I can not recommend buying this game based on the amount of pointless and tedious filler they put into it. Every map is filled with repetitive and boring tasks that will take up much more of your time than the main story will for that particular map. Additionally, Chadley has a new set of "challenges" (chores) for you to complete with every new map that you unlock, and the most unique and desirable materia in the game are locked behind those chores. While the game has a good main story (hence the 4/10 score), the amount of pointless filler content in it makes it an absolute grind to play through. If you value your time, play something else.

Just an ok action game, if you want a meh adventure with cloud going: huh, meh, yeah, ok to everything then its a decent play through. Its watch cut scene, fight grindy battles, be annoyed you missed a scan, do annoying mini games that add nothing to the story or character development, just more yeah, ok's from cloud that pad the play time. Remove about half the game and it'd be a decent play through.
