If you’re a fan of the Warriors series and rougelite genre, and you want to try out Omega Force’s own rendition of both, you’ll definitely get your money’s worth here. After all, Warriors: Abyss only costs $24.99, which isn’t as expensive as many would expect. Personally, though, I feel your time could be better spent playing other, much more fleshed-out rougelites that exist in this day and age.
Warriors Abyss is a fun, no-frills game perfect for relaxing after heavier titles, but its high price tag makes it hard to recommend. Best to wait for a sale or subscription drop.
Warriors: Abyss is a fun spin-off that brings some good ideas to the marriage between musou and roguelite. Unfortunately, its limitations prevent it from delivering more, but it should satisfy fans of the franchise for a few hours.

Pros - - Easy to learn - No BS, can just jump in and fight - Plenty of builds and move sets to choose from Cons - Balancing is ABYSSmal, struggled to kill the first boss 8-9 times and then finished the run 4 times in a row. The difficulty makes no sense considering it's a genre that promotes replayablity

After the gameplay really sunk in, I ended up having a blast with WARRIORS: Abyss but it definitely won't be everyone's cup of tea.

Warriors: Abyss may be what many would call a “small game,” but that doesn’t take away from its quality or fun factor. The game prioritizes efficiency and fluidity over sheer visual impact. These technical choices make for a fast-paced and chaotic, yet consistently smooth experience; no small feat given the overwhelming number of models on screen. The run-to-run progression keeps the gameplay fresh and engaging, ensuring that every new game is always different and scheming. In its genre, Warriors: Abyss can be defined a success.

As far as rogue lites go, Warriors Abyss is a high-tier game that's thoroughly entertaining and provides a lot of replay value at a price cut. The game becomes even more enjoyable for people who are already familiar with the characters of the Dynasty Warriors series. However, I can't help but think that the game could have been significantly better with more, overall content and perhaps, the price and quality of a full-price game. People who are already fans of the rogue lite genre will enjoy this game, and yet even for those people, it's hard to ignore the lack of proper tutorials for the game's many features. The story is non-existent. A character needs help defeating someone. That's the story in a nutshell. This game is all about gameplay, and that's not everyone's cup of tea. It can be perceived as quite repetitive for people who aren't familiar with this genre of games, but what's there is very polished and very promising for a potential, future series. For me, Warriors Abyss was a positive surprise that has provided great bang for buck, but I wish it was a full-fledged franchise, and not a spin-off that seems to be testing the waters rather than carving it's name to the top of it's genre.

Something of a lovechild between Hades and Dynasty Warriors, Warriors: Abyss is fun while it lasts but doesn't have the staying power of the best roguelikes. Still, with over 100 characters to play as and some neat ideas up its sleeve, it's well worth a try, particularly if you're a Warriors or a roguelike fan. Even better if you're both.

Dive into Warriors: Abyss and you'll be met with a huge playable roster, frenetic action and a wealth of replayability value. The sights may not be as pleasant and the story is non-existent, but shifting the Warriors franchises into a rogue-like works surprisingly well.

Warriors: Abyss can provide a fun experience for the Warriors die-hards, but could be skipped by everyone else.

WARRIORS: Abyss wants to be a Warriors game and a Hades game at once. The best way of doing that is not to duct tape the disparate elements together and hope it all works in the end. That’s what this thing does though, and the result is a visually stressful, mechanically conflicted mess...It can be enjoyable at times, but only in two cases - when a run starts and it feels like a Musou game, or when the thing’s nearly over and you have a power rating in the millions so the chaos becomes hilarious. Even then, however, the sheer tedium and frustration that characterizes the majority of the experience makes those fun bits simply not worth the effort.

Vote would probably be more 7.5 than 8. Roguelite elements are chaotic. Except for the base elements the game has no deepness whatsoever. You go, fight the same bosses, reach the final, repeat. Build and custimization can be maximized in 4 or 5 complete runs, after that is just about achievements and random fun. I think that the game can be the framework base for a way bigger production that i hope they will do. Hack n' slash combo action is lot of fun (back to Orochi origins) and the character combos are quite nice. The game needs way more deepness in roguelite elements, customization and possible outcomes. Most characters are clearly support characters despite being playable, and i would start from this point: instead of such a big roster, reduce the pool of 3/4 and give insanely more deepness to the roguelite components. Add more bosses, difficulty multipliers, hazards and such.

Warriors: Abyss is the game I didn’t know I wanted until I saw the trailer. While some compare it to Vampire Survivors, I think the better comparison is to Hades. You‘re fighting your way out of hell, you choose which room/upgrades you want after each battle, you have tough boss fights, and there’s regular injections of bits of story the further you progress in the game, with the ultimate goal of defeating the big bad. I’m about 8 hours and maybe 12-15 runs deep into the game (made it to the 4th boss) and I absolutely love it. The only things keeping this from a 10/10 for me is the audio is only in Japanese (which would be fine if all of the little occasional quips from the 81 playable characters were subtitled) and the frame rate drops pretty consistently the further you progress and more enemies appear on the screen. I’m playing on PS5 so I’m not sure if you can avoid the frame rate drops on a beefy PC. That said, it’s a very easy recommendation and for $25 it’s definitely worth every penny. I haven’t rolled credits yet but I don’t plan on stopping until I do.

Warriors: Abyss is an excellent choice for fans of the Warriors franchise looking for a hack-and-slash action experience with roguelike elements. While it has issues with the camera and a steep difficulty curve, the intense combat and replayability are highly satisfying. For players seeking a thrilling action experience, this game is a solid choice.
