LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is one of the best entries in the LEGO series in years. Visually striking and atmospheric, which makes all the difference when we're talking about Gotham City, with spectacular graphics, dynamic combat, sharp humor, and a genuine celebration of decades of Batman lore. Solo or in good company, it's a hard game to put down, whether for long-time fans or for those discovering the Dark Knight for the first time.
LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a lovingly crafted nostalgia trip that could do with a tighter focus to really spread its leathery wings.

When Legacy of the Dark Knight finds its focus, there's still plenty of zen-like charm to enjoy here. And if you crave the chaotic? Well, beanbag begins. [Issue#425, p.112]

An awesome LEGO game. Haven’t played one in a while but I enjoyed this one thoroughly & loved all the Batman film/video game references. There is perhaps too many collectibles to collect in the open world for me, but I am sure others will love this.

A fantastic and memorable experience. Very good story with moments of quality humor as well. Must play for any Batman fan and anyone wanting to have an enjoyable time. First Lego game I have played and couldn’t have asked for anything better.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight isn’t just another iterative entry in the franchise; it's a new vision defined by varied gameplay, gorgeous upgraded graphics and clever storytelling. Whether you’re gliding across Gotham's skyline, piecing together detective puzzles or laughing at a perfectly timed gag, the game delivers a rich, polished experience that honors the Dark Knight in a way only LEGO can.

Legacy of the Dark Knight goes beyond LEGO's classic lighthearted tone and nostalgia. It builds a vast Gotham City with meticulous attention to detail, celebrates the legacy of the Dark Knight, and expands on the foundations laid by a legendary video game trilogy. TT Games finally decided to push its formula to the limit, and the result could be the best LEGO Batman game yet—and the closest we’ll get to reliving the golden days of Rocksteady.

In a way, LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is easy to evaluate: if you're willing to be captivated by either LEGO or Batman, or even if you just want to enjoy the simple fun of playing together with a dear one, there are plenty of reasons to join in the romp of defending Gotham on the Bat's long life journey. On the other hand, those expecting in-depth character and gameplay development should look elsewhere.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a wonderful homage to the history of the franchise. Fans of Batman are in for a treat, as each moment references iconic elements from the movies, comics, video games, and television while piecing together its own story. While the difficulty is low, every aspect of the gameplay is delivered with care, making this an engaging adventure. Charming and confident, this tribute breathes new life into Gotham.

Lego Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight is a lovingly made, often hilarious take on both Batman’s movie and video game history alike. It remixes classic moments from almost every film, with deeper cuts from the Caped Crusader’s comic book beginnings, too. A largely successful attempt at sophisticating Lego combat that suffers a bit from repetitive, one-note encounter design, combined with a good mixture of puzzles, powers its homage-laden levels. But its open-world Gotham is where it truly comes to life, generously packing its gothic surroundings with hundreds of collectibles and pockets of opportunity. It might not tell a story that will sit alongside Batman’s best overall, but it delivers a fantastic plastic parody of his greatest hits.

One step forward in the Arkham saga. The gameplay is so beautiful and the general design brings players to the best Batman world ever made. The best: Levels, city, vehicles, skins, open world, batcave, durability, combat system, humor, upgrade system, 2 player mode. The bad: The end feels like a premature idea.

Its solid, the onboarding and prologue is rough to get through but there is a ton of charm and wit in its story and layout. I could see is if I was a kid that this may be the greatest game ever.

I paid €95 for this game (base game + DLC) expecting a true LEGO Batman experience. What I got was a Batman game with LEGO graphics. The first few hours were exciting because I genuinely thought I was only a third of the way through the story. Gotham looked promising and I had high expectations for everything that could be unlocked later. Then the credits rolled after around 12 hours and I realized most of what made classic LEGO games special is gone. No classic permanent stud multipliers. A very limited character roster compared to previous LEGO Batman games. Studs feel almost useless. Red bricks have lost much of their importance. Vehicle variety is disappointing, with little reason to experiment beyond cars and bikes. Most unlockables are cosmetic instead of meaningful gameplay rewards. The story itself was also a disappointment for me. I found it predictable, underwhelming and far less interesting than it could have been. Batman has one of the richest universes in gaming and entertainment, yet this game barely takes advantage of it. The LEGO formula is barely used either. It feels like the developers had endless possibilities with both Batman and LEGO, but chose to do very little with either. In older LEGO games, finishing the story was only the beginning. You still had dozens of characters, vehicles, cheats, red bricks and multipliers to unlock. Here, once the story is over, there is very little motivation to continue if you are not interested in free roam completion. The biggest problem is not that the game is short. The problem is that it abandons many of the features that defined LEGO games for years while still charging a premium launch price. This is not a terrible Batman game. But in my opinion, it is a disappointing LEGO game and absolutely not worth €95.
