Who knows how much longer this version of Hyrule (that started in Breath of the Wild) will continue? If this is the end, it goes out on a high note, especially when enjoyed cooperatively. Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is an entertaining entry that will keep you busy during the first holiday season of the Switch 2. Heck, packed with content and surprises, it’s one you’ll likely return to when the mood strikes as well.

When I first played this game, I had decent expectations. However, this game took those expectations and completely blew them out of the water. The graphics look great, The gameplay, while potentially repetitive at times, is still fun the whole way through. Even in the very end, the game still introduces new mechanics, yet the gameplay never feels too complicated or too simple. The sound design is great too, both the music and the sound effects. And the STORY. This game might genuinely have the best story out of any game I’ve played. This was my game of the year for 2025, which is saying something, since SILKSONG released that year.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is a great crossover that combines the best aspects of Tecmo Koei's Dynasty Warriors and Nintendo's Legend of Zelda series. The mass battles are varied and spectacular, while the well directed story sequences deliver an exciting atmosphere and a deeper look into Hyrule's origins.

It shows the power of Switch 2, it's canon, and overflows with love and emotion for the main saga. It doesn’t matter that it’s a musou and a spin-off. Tt’s essential for Zelda fans and serves as the perfect grand finale to Tears of the Kingdom.

Hyrule Warriors: Age of Imprisonment is an excellent spinoff and action game. In its niche — that of the musou-games — it's even among the best of all time. But what a total letdown of a story. Seriously, how did they manage to drop the ball on plot and world building?

Insanely repetitive, horribly shallow, and pointlessly easy – this is the absolute least interesting thing to do with Zelda on the Switch 2 and bad even by the low standards of the Dynasty Warrior franchise.

My first real game that I played on switch 2. After beating story I’m still completing the side missions to achieve 100% and completing levels on maximum hard difficulty.

A decent game with a good story, but it just isn’t Hyrule Warriors. It is repetitive and boring after a while. The combat isn’t up to par, either. Nothing will compare to the original game.

The game is average or worse. The graphics are average, as is the story. The gameplay is poor. The game only has positive reviews because Zelda players don't have a taste for games.
