I may not be a Dynasty Warriors aficionado, but I’m confident enough to say that Origins may just be what the hardcore fans were waiting for. It also serves as a friendly beginner’s point if you’re getting into the series from playing all of its spinoffs. While it may have some minor issues, they’re all addressable with a patch, and I hope that Omega Force can take all the positives from this game and provide the much-needed boost in recognition that the series deserves.

It offers a refresh for the Dynasty Warriors series by adding several technical and gameplay layers, such as parrying, counterattacks, and RPG elements, all without sacrificing the core Musou feel of frenetic and tactical arcade action. It's a modern take on the classic Musou formula; while its graphics aren't top-tier or aiming to be a benchmark, that's clearly not the focus. Its greatest strength lies in its gameplay: battling hundreds of enemies on fields where the slightest decision can make the difference between victory and defeat.

Ultimately I’m of two minds about Dynasty Warriors: Origins. On one hand, it’s a re-evaluation of the Musou formula that’s persisted, and in many ways stagnated, over the years. The changes made to how Omega Force’s winning action formula are presented and executed are stunning. On the other hand, sacrificing multiplayer and a character roster are dramatic compromises for this series, and are impossible to just brush aside. It feels like, in the pursuit of trying something different, something crucial was sacrificed. Origins is a fantastic action game by almost any measure, which will soak up dozens of gameplay hours with ease. But if multiplayer is part of your core concept of what Dynasty Warriors is, or the reason you show up, then you’re going to have to sit this one out. Or try it anyway, because it’s really good.

This is the God of War 2018 moment of the Dynasty Warriors series. brilliant battlefield depiction, an excellent action system, and while there are some odd aspects to the character portrayal, that doesn't stop this game from being a great new beginning.

This is not a good warriors game, and I don't care if the whole world praises it. Koei made a huge mistake for thinking the system needed more complexity. They added sub-menu with r1 button in previous games, and now even timed-parry with this game. That's not even a warriors game anymore.
Warriors has always been satisfying games, which means less thinking, less learning, and more satisfaction from killing. However submenu gave me more to think, and parry made timing a necessity. It's no longer fun. The more my brain works when playing, the less satisfying. That's not supposed to happen in a brainless slaying game.
It's strange cuz they seemed to have realized that the complicated system is wrong, and corrected it in Samurai 5, but now with origin they went double down on the wrong path. Bottomline, only older games are the true warriors game for me, that means samurai 1-3 and 5, Dynasty up to 8 (7 in Asia), and orichi up to 3 (2 in Asia). Peace out

I've thought the DW franchise is mid, and the last DW game I enjoyed was DW2 in PS2, but man this one kinda surprised me. Probably my only con is not able to fully control famous officers

Overall, Dynasty Warriors Origins is a big, explosive, and massively entertaining action game, and true to its title, a conscious effort by Koei Tecmo to get back to the qualities that so many people have enjoyed from the series over the years. Lu Bu is terrifying, Sun Shangxiang is history’s greatest tomboy, Zhuge Liang is brilliant, and watching all these stories play out with such energy is just utterly brilliant.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins doesn’t just have the largest amount of enemies the series has thrown on screen at once, it also deepens its combat, improves its storytelling, and provides a healthy amount of replayability.

My whole army: Chargeeeee! To victory! This is the first time I play this series and I am definitely amazed! It’s just so fun and epic to play. I am not familiar with the characters but there are a few generals that are very interesting.

Dynasty Warriors Origins is a new formula that dares to take risks, and we think it's going to pay off! To reach a wider audience, it was certainly necessary to break with the codes that kept the series somewhat stuck in the past. Here, new players will have the opportunity to discover the world of the 3 Kingdoms and the advantages of a “Musou”-style game, while fans will rediscover what made the series so strong: its story, its satisfying gameplay and its generosity. Technically, the title is very solid, packed with content, beautiful at times and, above all, generous. We regret the absence of the free mode, which didn't cost much to install, and the uneven graphics. Origins is a great new departure for Koei Tecmo, and 2025 is off to a great start with a game that's sure to be one of the best action games of the year!

In many ways, Dynasty Warriors: Origins is the series at its best. The gigantic, jaw-dropping battles, the tense wartime drama, the player-driven power trip — it's a thoroughly impressive return to form for a franchise that came so close to dismantling itself seven years ago. Origins isn't just some water-testing spin-off — this is both an evolution of the formula and a fantastic realisation of what Dynasty Warriors has always strived to be.

Dynasty Warriors: Origins revitalizes the series by returning to its roots with modernized graphics, enhanced combat mechanics, and a richer narrative, delivering the ultimate power fantasy on the battlefield. While the lack of co-op mode and occasional mission repetitiveness may be drawbacks, the game remains a must-play for hack-and-slash enthusiasts.

Some very minor improvements to the Dynasty Warriors formula but this is just as vapid and repetitive as it was back in the PlayStation 2 era, only now with relatively modern graphics.

I’ve been playing “Dynasty Warriors” since I was a Kid. They brought all the characters to “LIFE” like Liu Bei, Guan Yu, Zhao Yun, Zhuge Liang, LuBu, Etc, My New Favorite Character Guardian Of Peace - Ziluan, such a masterpiece. Honestly, I can’t stop playing the game I need more of the GAME!

Dynasty Warriors has been around since 1997. At first, Tecmo Koei made it a 1v1 fighting game. Then, the game changed style to become a massive hack'n'slash. Over time, the game got richer: more characters, more weapons, more historical content. And then, there was Dynasty Warriors 9.
The developers decided to make the game more open world.
Less cutscenes, more cloned weapons (so less weapon diversity) and more characters.
The game was a commercial failure.
Technically outdated, suffering from texture bugs, too repetitive because of the weapons, not gripping enough. Five years later, Tecmo Koei is releasing a kind of reboot.
No more 20-30-40 playable characters, here you will only control one, mute moreover.
No more 20-30-40 different weapons here, you will only be able to play 10 ...
Just like the number of officers who can help you in combat.
Besides, the game emphasizes the creation of links with the different non-playable characters of the game.
Too bad, really.
Too bad because in the game there are more than 10 modeled weapons. Finally, the big problem of this game or rather the 2 big problems are:- The emotional non-involvement of the player in this opus. I totally detached myself from the game, from the story. The story of the hero, that you find everywhere in any Japanese game: the taciturn brown, you know, well this story is common and not interesting.- And then the game stops at the battle of Chibi. Far too much suppression in my opinion to accept and make a Dynasty Warriors. Despite this, the game displays honest graphics. It benefits from a remarkable fluidity that you will notice during your fights.
The game, when you want to do it completely, is more than 50 hours of play. But is it really ok compared to other dynasty warriors, I don't think so. Finally, DWO does not deserve this title. If it had had another title it would have gone better, I think. As it is, it is not a real dynasty **** you are a fan of franchise the game is not worth its price. f you want to discover the franchise, opt for Dynasty Warriors 8 Complete Edition.Cheaper much more complete

No playing as other characters except for briefly playing as one of 9 companion characters during the campaign, no free mode (only ability to replay campaign missions), and NO MULTIPLAYER are all insane choices that ruin what would otherwise be the best Dynasty Warriors game to date.
SummaryExperience an unrivaled sense of realism on the battlefield, fueled by exhilarating 1 vs. 1,000 action and the rush of massive armies! A nameless hero conquers the turbulent and chaotic Three Kingdoms in this latest DYNASTY WARRIORS series entry.
