Scary Movie

Mileage seriously varies in terms of the funny here. If you don’t laugh at one bit, don’t worry, because another dozen or two will come flyin’ atcha in a minute. But every time Faris and Hall are onscreen together, Scary Movie comes the closest to hitting a groove.

Do you like Scary Movie!?… Well, there’s a new one and it’s got some funny stuff in it, but just not enough in terms of how many jokes land and how many are duds.

It feels good to have the Wayans brothers back where they belong, even if Scary Movie isn’t quite up to the level of the first film in the franchise. While it maintains that film’s strengths, the humor doesn’t feel as fresh as it once did. For all their willingness to offend, the Wayanses don’t have anything to say with their jokes, rendering them toothless.

Most of its gags require not surprise but surrender. Because while some dumb jokes are (as noted) funny the first time and never again, on the opposite end of spectrum lie those bits that are funny only after the fifth or sixth or 11th time, at which point the comedy comes not from any inherent wit but from the doggedness of the teller. We laugh because we’re defeated.

It’s an unchallenging stinky old sweater of a movie, which might be deeply unfashionable and unappealing but reminds you of the days when you could smoke inside pubs and people used landlines.

The only welcome and consistent source of delight is whenever Hall gets to pop up onscreen, to squeal or beam in a way that is always funny, and enough to briefly take you out of the bit she’s trapped in.

Watching seasoned older comedians target the young for caring too much is bad enough, but seeing them miss even their softest targets makes Scary Movie the most embarrassing movie spoof since Scary Movie.

Me pareció muy divertida, aunque irregular. Empieza bastante bien y me gustó que mantiene ese humor pesado y absurdo de siempre. Sin embargo, el acto final se siente sin sentido y termina siendo un desastre. Tampoco conecté mucho con los nuevos personajes.

Vale pela nostalgia, temos um elenco interesante aqui, mas o amontoado de piadas desfuncionais assustam mais do que certos filmes homenageados, e estranhamente tem um apego em bater no "politicamente correto" que retira certa naturalidade. De fato é uma edição pavoroza, com certos quadros que poderiam ser retirados no meio do filme que não alterariam em nada a mensagem. Ainda funciona pelas referências aos filmes do ano, logo, por tudo que lhe é externo.

The whole movie was made out of jokes from the old movies, there where some good jokes but the whole movie was like a overstimulated malcolm in the middle episode
