Buffy the Vampire Slayer
Video games based on TV franchises don't always live up to the shows that inspired them. Fortunately, Buffy the Vampire Slayer is an exception.

Graphically sharp and combined with gameplay that has been similarly honed, Buffy is one of those rare titles that does the Xbox justice. [Fall 2002, p.111]
I'd say there are about 15-20 hours of play here, but I'd probably double that just for me as I kept replaying so many of the boards due to the fights I got in (and that next to last mission that I so vehemently despise).

I think an 8 is pretty fair for 2025. The graphics are pretty decent for an earlier Xbox game especially. There is enough going on and short enough **** to keep you engaged to the end. The level designs are pretty cool and fans of the show will enjoy that. Unfortunately the platforming can be annoying because the jump is quite sensitive and I kept dying because of it. The frame rate on the original Xbox is nice too which helps.

Great game play and was a ton of fun. Reminded me a lot of the tv show. Highly recommend.

Its not a bad game. Once you get past the how to level. It becomes an ok game. I would say give it a try

You don't have to be a fan of the show to enjoy this action-packed game that, aside from looking really good, is both fun and highly addictive.

I missed Buffy. Every day, I watched the series on DVD and one of my favorite Buffy episodes was the pilot episode "Welcome to the Hellmouth." Reminds me of the good ol' days of the WB network. The XBOX version of the same name as the TV show or movie is incredible. Even though I don't have an XBOX for a long time, but it's like a hack and slash game where Buffy kicks, stakes, and slays demon after demon. It's one of the best TV adapted video games of all time.

It's a fun beat 'em up that perfectly captures the look and feel of the television show. [Sept 2002, p.34]

The combat system of Buffy the Vampire Slayer is just brilliant.

For some reason, I could not tear myself away from playing this game...I got through the game in about six hours under the normal mode.

This game's so obsessed with vampire-killing and ground-level puzzles, it doesn't seem to acknowledge - or care - that there's someone playing it for pleasure. [XGamer]

Played in 2020. I remember renting this game back in the day and I remembered it being fun so I added it to my collection. This game exceeded my expectations. The core action gameplay is excellent and (nearly) everything about it has aged gracefully. My playthrough took 8 hours so its a little short but that's not necessarily a bad thing as the game never overstays its welcome. I would give this a 10 out of 10 however late in the game there are some very annoying sections where you can fall into bottomless pits tp your death and you are required to restart the level from the beginning. However this did not prevent me from finishing the game. Recommended.
