The Warriors is near perfection. It offers a compelling single player action adventure game that can become a two-player affair at the push of a button.
Visually, The Warriors does not impress. But as a film tie-in, as a classic brawler, as a game that offers excellent multiplayer modes, quality bonus content and a unique style all of its own, it excels.
Rockstar takes the classic 80's movie and turns it into the most bone-crunching brawler on then console. Controversial at times, but a solid choice for fans.

This game is super fun and violent, every hit has weight, the blood is realistic, the bruises too… playing in co-op is insane. The only flaw is the horrible frame rate and the FPS drops, a PS2 game with terrible performance.

A beat 'em up that is both a prequel AND adaptation of the cult movie. The game mixes brawling with side-activities like graffiti tagging and stealing car radios. You could compare it to "Def Jam: Fight For NY" and Rockstar's own "Manhunt". It includes a cool unlockable arcade mode that plays like the classic "Final Fight". While not perfect, "The Warriors" is terrific fun. I would rate it with an 8.6 out of 10.

Gaming Age
It takes strong foundations from both the genre and the source material, then layers things on top that make the entire game a solid, intense experience throughout. It's amazingly fun, amazingly wrong in that Rockstar kinda way, and amazingly right in every fundamental design choice. In short, Rockstar has made a modern classic with The Warriors.

It's amazingly fun, amazingly wrong in that Rockstar kinda way we all know (and love), and amazingly right in every fundamental design choice. In short, Rockstar has pulled off a great feat by recreating a landmark movie into a modern classic video-game.

One of the best beat em ups of all time this game was really ahead of its time.

Gaming Nexus
A surprising game, not just because it's one of the best games based on a movie, but because it manages to raise the bar on a genre that has been stuck in mud for over a decade.

The missions are plentiful, and thankfully they never become repetitive.

Although it's certainly not a masterpiece, The Warriors gets by on style, flair, variety, and simple fun. [Nov 2005, p.144]

It's really faithful to the film too, but you don't have to be a fan to appreciate it - this is basically Rockstar's take on "Streets of Rage," a jolly ghetto romp where the streets are paved with smashed-in faces. And it really works too! [Official UK Xbox Magazine]

Edge Magazine
It's when the game is at its most GTA-like that it comes alive, conjuring up scenarios that take in whole city boroughs and throwing at you groups of adversaries and challenges you have to juggle on the fly… and then you get to a tediously engineered boss encounter and it all begins to get tiresome again. [Christmas 2005, p.109]
