Pokemon Pokopia9

A wonderful cozy game for Pokemon fans. You could probably still enjoy it even if you aren't a Pokemon fan, but I'd recommend at least checking out either Pokemon Red, Pokemon Blue, Pokemon Yellow, Pokemon Fire Red, Pokemon Leaf Green, Let's Go Pikachu or Let's Go Eevee first as this game's lore does tie directly to the generation 1 Pokemon games' story.

Star Wars Jedi: Survivor9
Feb 3, 2026
A very fun game with great platforming and combat. It's almost perfectly how I'd want to feel playing as a jedi. I have a few minor complaints. The story isn't quite as good as the first and it does have some generally minor (and sometimes even funny) technical issues, but overall, I can not recommend this game enough.

Life is Strange: Double Exposure8
Jan 25, 2026
I have played all of the Life is Strange games and loved most of them. I had some doubts going into Double Exposure due to the reviews, both from critics and fans alike and I am glad to say, that those reviews did not match how I felt about the game. I finally gave it a chance, seeing how the new one might relate to it and I'm quite glad I did. The biggest issue really isn't the game itself but fan expectations. Fans wanted a continuation of Max and Chloe's story, but this is really only a continuation and exploration of Max's character and story, the same way Before the Storm was for Chloe. While it isn't perfect and there certainly are things that could have been done better, I think this was very good for the story they were wanting to tell. Max had to make a big, terrible decision at the end of the first Life is Strange game and that decision had no good choices. This game is all about Max living with that decision. As for the game itself, I enjoyed the story and enjoyed most of the characters. The story of what happened to Safi that lead to these events was actually pretty interesting and about what I expected for the Life is Strange series and I love how it ends with greater implications for the series. My only complaint is who the main protagonist of the game ended up being. This is the first game in this series where I was able to predict most of what happened before it happened. There was only really one big surprise and while that surprise was a very big and good surprise, it wasn't enough to make up for how predictable everything else was. The music and sounds of the game are great and the voice acting is top notch as usual. The animations and graphics are great and I love the different environments. All in all, while this game is not as good as something like Life is Strange 1 or True Colors, I do think it was better than something like Life is Strange 2 or Before the Storm. It's about what I expect for the Life is Strange series in all the best and worst ways. If you enjoy the previous games, you'd probably enjoy this one. If you haven't enjoyed previous Life is Strange games, this won't be the one to change your mind.

Star Wars Outlaws8
Dec 21, 2025
Star Wars Outlaws has a pretty steep learning curve, but once you get a hang of what's going on and understand the various menu screens and the at times odd control layout, Star Wars Outlaws is a very solid stealth game with some solid action sequences. The story is about what you'd expect out of Star Wars (I enjoyed it) and the scenery and environments are also very Star Wars. Kay Vess was a fun protagonist to follow even if not always a super believable one for the actions that are taking place. She's a character I'd love to see again, even if it's in other Star Wars media. The open worlds are fun to explore and have lots to see. The speeder is a bit slow for how large the worlds are, but the space ship sections are extremely fun. Truth be told, I wasn't so sure at first when this game was first announced. I've always preferred the Star Wars games that let you play as a jedi with a lightsaber, but Star Wars Outlaws blew away my expectations for the type of game it is and I found myself really enjoying it.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A9
Nov 7, 2025
My new favorite Pokemon game, Pokemon Legends ZA is an all time great game. There's still a few, mostly minor, issues, but the game overall is very good. First off, some of my small issues. The wall textures are a bit odd sometimes and I wish there were ride Pokemon. The lack of ride Pokemon makes this feel like one of the slowest Pokemon games as far as movement speed goes. I also wish the wild zones were a bit bigger and more diverse. The lack of mass outbreaks from Legends Arceus is also slightly disappointing. My last minor complaint is the trainer customization. They clearly prioritized quantity over quality. It's a lot of choices, but most of them are a bit fancy and not what I'd expect to see people wearing in an every day setting. Everything else about this game is great. I love the catching mechanics. I love the new megas. I enjoy the new style of battling, although I don't think I'd want it to completely replace turn based battles in future games. I love the selection of Pokemon available to catch. I wish the selection was maybe a bit bigger, but I do think the selection itself is very good. I enjoy the story quite a bit. I enjoy the city and environments. I love all the new characters and the returning characters were treated quite well. I love the alpha pokemon the large amount of content within the game. The game is just very addictive and very fun and a perfect follow up to the Gen 6 Pokemon Games (X and Y) which were two of my absolute favorites leading up to this release. I can not say enough good things about Pokemon Legends ZA. It is not perfect, but I think it's about as close to perfect as Pokemon game might be able to get.

Donkey Kong Bananza9
Oct 14, 2025
Donkey Kong Bananza is a masterpiece with a great sound track and even greater gameplay. This game was made by the 3D Mario team and it shows. Many elements of Mario Odyssey can be found within this game and if you've played both games, you can tell they were created by the same people in the same team. It's of course not as good as a 3D Mario game would be, but it's still a game that's had a lot of love and passion put into it. The level design is great. The power ups are fun to play as. It's extremely fun to just dig around and explore the various areas, looking for whatever treasure you might find. I enjoyed the Donkey Kong Country games, but I was not a huge DK fan going into this. This game turned me into a DK fan. I can not recommend it enough.

Viewfinder8
Sep 15, 2025
This game makes you go "Boy, that's clever!" a lot and that's what I like about it. You could tell the developers put a lot of thought into this game and it's puzzles. The graphics are nice. I like the music. I think the beginning of the story needs a bit of work in introducing you to the characters and it's plot. It feels like it throws you into the middle of the story instead of the beginning, but the payoff for that story is very good. The game is a bit short and doesn't contain a huge amount of content, but I do think it's enough content for the relatively cheap asking price. If you aren't into puzzle games at all, I don't think this game will change your mind on them, but if you do enjoy puzzle games, I think you'll really, really love this game and the innovation it brings to the puzzle genre.

Shadows of Doubt9
Jan 13, 2025
This game is fantastic. It's a bit glitchy with some clear technical issues. Once it's been patched up a bit though, this could be a big thing. The gameplay loop is very addictive and fun. You can do a lot and there's always multiple ways to solve each case. The game lets you play how you want to play and I like that. It's the perfect murder mystery game and I'd recommend it to anyone who's a fan of true crime or any sort of murder mystery fan. You just have to get past the technical issues.

The Stanley Parable: Ultra Deluxe9
Jan 3, 2025
There isn't a whole lot you can say about Stanley Parable without outright spoiling it and even less you can say about the new content. The game is hilarious with great voice acting and that's all I can really put here besides that it performs perfectly well on Switch. If you played the original, this is worth checking out for the extra content. If you've never played the game at all before, this is worth checking out for all the content. It's a short and sweet title, probably 5 hours or less long, but very much worth trying out, especially if you are the type of person to read video game user reviews on a website like this one.

Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita's Rewind9
Dec 31, 2024
Power Ranger's Rita's Rewind is a very good video game. The music is excellent. The gameplay is fun and exciting. The graphics are exactly what I'd want from this type of game. My only real complaint is that the movement is a bit slow and the individual zord segments, while not complete trash, certainly aren't great either. I could easily recommend this to any Power Rangers fan, and probably a lot of people who aren't huge Power Rangers fans as well!

Digimon Survive8
Aug 28, 2024
Digimon Survive is a fun blend of visual novel with a tactics game and some RPG like elements thrown in for flavor. The amount of time you spend doing the tactics stuff and the visual novel stuff is going to depend a bit on your playstyle, as it is possible do some grinding as you desire and on the tougher difficulties, that may even be required. Regardless of what type of gameplay you prefer, I think most Digimon fans will find a lot to enjoy here. The tactics gameplay is fun. I'm not usually a bit tactics guy, but I found it quite enjoyable here. It's basic enough that you don't need to think too hard about it but there are advanced mechanics you can get into if you want to depending on the difficulty level. Speaking of the difficulty level, I really like how this game handles difficulty levels. You can change the difficulty of combat and make it easier or more difficult at any point during any battle. The story itself is interesting enough. There's characters you'll love and probably just as many characters you'll hate, both from the good guys and from the bad guys. These are complicated characters with motivations and back stories that you can tell a lot of thought went into and there are no unimportant characters. To me, this is peak characterization. Unfortunately, the story itself of what's going on in the game is where the storytelling feels a bit weak in comparison. Graphically, this is a great looking game, and I really couldn't ask for much more, especially at the price I usually see it at, around 20-30 dollars. Between that and the length of the game itself, I think this game is worth that price and I probably would have felt fine paying even more than that. As far as sound design goes, there's not much to say. The music is nice, but there's no English voiceovers or dubbing. There's English subtitles and that's it. This was a bit jarring at first, but I've gotten used to it as I've played. Really, I only have two major complaints. One has to do with the way digivolving works with your "free" Digimon. As you progress through the game, you are allowed to add non partner Digimon into your team of Digimon, but you have to collect special items to Digivolve them AND they stay digivolved. I feel like if they could de-digivolve and you can just re-digivolve them during battle for free after giving them the item for the first time, it could add to the strategy of the technical battles. Also, they can be a bit scare with the items to digivolve Digimon into the champion level. You can more than enough for Ultimates, but the Champion level item can be a bit spare, making the whole process quite annoying. My other big issue with Digimon Survive was the load times. I played on Switch, so that's probably the big factor in this, but this game isn't exactly pushing technical boundaries, so I'm not sure why it requires so many load screens and why they sometimes take so long to load. All in all, I think Digimon Survive is a great game, but if I had to make the choice to buy it again, I think I'd buy it on PC. If you have an SSD it would help with the load times and I think a mouse and keyboard would be a much easier way of playing this in comparison to a controller. A controller isn't bad by any means, but a mouse and keyboard would make more sense. If you only have a Switch or a console, it's still very playable there, but I think the PC version is probably superior. While this isn't a game that I would introduce someone to the Digimon franchise with, I think long time Digimon fans will find plenty to enjoy here. The characters are interesting, the tactics gameplay is fun and the RPG like elements can sometimes be a bit addicting. If you can find it for 40 dollars or under, I'd stay it's probably worth it. Right now, the steam version is 60 and I probably wouldn't feel bad buying it at that price, but I do think waiting for a sale would be preferable. This isn't a game that you have to run out and play right this second but I would recommend it to any Digimon fan.

Princess Peach: Showtime!5
Jun 7, 2024
A good concept that isn't well executed. While many of the levels in Princess Peach Showtime are quite fun, there's just as many, if not more that aren't that fun at all. They are also too short and too linear. This game had a lot of potential and as a huge Nintendo fan, I was disappointed to see that potential wasted to a point where I had trouble even finishing the game.

Firewatch7
Mar 22, 2024
Firewatch is pretty nice graphically with great environments and scenery and the story has the potential to be really good. Unfortunately, because of how short the game is, that story ultimately doesn't really feel like it matters much and the core gameplay loop is mostly just a walking simulator. I'd say it's worth trying if you can pick it up really cheap like I did, or play it through a service like Playstation Plus or Xbox Gamepass. I wouldn't spend more than a few dollars on it though. There's just not enough there and what is there, isn't satisfying enough. The game really just feels like a small tease of a bigger game and maybe that's how it should be treated.

Apollo Justice: Ace Attorney Trilogy8
Mar 19, 2024
I spent 100 hours playing through all these games for the first time. I've been a huge fan of the original trilogy for a very long time, but wasn't able to keep up as this trilogy originally released due to my financial situation at the time. Now that things are a bit better for me, I'm glad these games released on modern platforms to give people like me a chance to try them for a first time. I loved all three games. While not as good as the original trilogy and clearly written and translated by a different group of people, it's nice to catch up and find out where all these different characters are now and discover all sorts of new characters as well. The music is great, as all Ace Attorney music should be and I enjoyed the various animation through out the games. There's a certain charm of the original trilogy that seems to be missing here, but these are still great games that I highly recommend.

Ghost Trick: Phantom Detective8
Jan 2, 2024
Ghost Trick Phantom Detective is a very good game. The story doesn't really get good until you are through a good chunk of the game, but the puzzles are interesting enough until that point to keep you going. Once the story does start to get really good is also around when the puzzles start to get a bit more difficult and it all just works really well. The music is good. The graphics are good by 2010 standards on the DS. If you are playing the Switch, Playstation or Xbox version (I played the Switch) they haven't really been upgraded much, so don't expect anything too special, but the graphics and animations are charming none the less. The characters are all interesting and likable. The story has lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes and there's a lot of unpredictable moments that will leave you smiling, wondering how they thought of that. Between the story moments and the puzzles themselves, I was constantly thinking to myself how clever this game is and how smart the developers and writers behind it must be. I'd highly recommend Ghost Trick Phantom Detective to anyone who is a fan of puzzle games or story based games.

Nickelodeon All-Star Brawl 28
Dec 10, 2023
Nickelodeon All Star Brawl 2 is pretty fun. I wish it was better optimized for Switch (the load times are horrible), but the roster is pretty good, the new story mode/campaign is fun, and personally, my favorite characters are mostly pretty fun to play as. My only other real complaint is that they need to fix recovery a bit, as it's a bit rough with all characters. Besides that, it controls and plays much better than the first with much more content. If you have a decent PC or a PS5/Xbox Series S/X, I would buy this there before getting the Switch version. If you only have a Switch, this works well enough but be prepared for lots of loading.

Dec 6, 2023
As a big Nintendo and Mario fan (as my username might suggest) I was very excited to try this game out and it met my expectations exactly. It is just 2D Mario, but it's 2D Mario at it's best with lots of new wacky ideas to try. The game is pretty slow to start though and almost kind of boring at the beginning, but once you get past the first world or so, it gets pretty great.

Marvel's Spider-Man 210
Nov 14, 2023
Spider-Man 2 is a bit slow to start, but ends as a gaming masterpiece. It has very few flaws although the ones that are there are worth talking about. I played most of the game in performance mode and I think I'd have trouble going back to 30 FPS for this type of game after this experience. 60 FPS is how this game is meant to be played and I found it a bit odd that they didn't let you choose that option from the very beginning of the game. The gameplay is fun. As a HUGE fan of the first Insomniac Spider-Man game, I wasn't so sure how I'd feel about the new web gadgets at first, but through out the game they did grow on me quite a bit. One of my few problems with the game is the various suits within it. Insomniac does a great job with suits they didn't design, but most of the suits that are Insomniac's original ideas are pretty horrible. Peter's main red and blue Insomniac suit and Mile's ending suit are two prime examples of this. Peter's suit has grown on me a bit over time, but the big white spider is still horrible and quite frankly there's nothing to like about Mile's ending suit. I do like the capes on some of the suits they brought in from the comics as they wave around in the wind as you web spin around New York. Traversing this world is one of the most fun parts of the game. Gliding helps a lot, but just web slinging around feels perfectly good. They give you a LOT of different options during transversal and combat and to be honest, it can sometimes be a bit difficult to remember everything you can do at times. More than once, I had to look at the button combinations in the menu to figure out how to do something because it was a bit too much to keep track of. Lots of options are good though and I'd rather have too many than not enough. Speaking of options, this game goes hard on accessibility. It seems like no matter how you want to play, they have an option or method of accommodating you. I found this extremely helpful. The graphics of the game are fantastic and as are all the sounds and music and it makes great use of the different features of the Dual Sense controller and SSD in the PS5. I did seem like a game that would not be able to function on a PS4 at all. The story was also great. I'm a long time Spider-Man fan and this might be my favorite story for many of the villains within the game and certainly my favorite Miles Morales story by far. The people who wrote this game (and everyone else involved in making it for that matter) are clearly big Spider-Man fans and understand all the individual characters perfectly. Peter, Miles and MJ all had great story arcs, but I was particularly fond of the story arcs for Mr. Negative, Black Cat, Mysterio and Sand Man. For the heroes, this story was about learning how to handle and balance the different aspects of their lives, but for a lot of the villains, this story was about redemption and the way they handled that with Kraven the Hunter and Wraith was perfect, showing how every life matters and how every villain can be redeemed. One of the things that makes Spider-Man so successful in pop culture is his villains and it was good to see most of them handled so well here. I was a bit bummed out by Scorpion's story, but it is what it is. Over all, Insomniac clearly understands these characters very well and is great at writing stories about them, getting me excited for potential DLC or even Spider-Man 3 in the future. All of this really sums up this entire game. It's a bit slow to start, but the high points are really high. I went in a bit apprehensive, as the first game in the series is one of my absolute favorite games and I thought there was no way they could do better than that, but Insomniac pulled it off in a way I thought wasn't possible, leaving me excited for the future of this series and wanting more.

The Last of Us Part II8
Nov 1, 2023
The Last of Us Part 2 has a story that is purposely trying to make everyone miserable. Abby, Ellie and especially you, the player. Unfortunately, behind all the miserable events that take place in this game are some lovable characters and fantastic gameplay that makes up for the game's flaws when it comes to a poorly paced story that isn't sure how to tell the story it wants to tell. The first Last of Us game is primarily enjoyed due to the story of the game, but if you can let that go and really focus on the gameplay and individual characters instead of the story and actions they are taking and really bad ending, this game is a fun play through full of addictive gun play, somewhat challenging puzzles and lots of fun collectibles and crafting. My only complaint as far as the gameplay itself goes is that it can sometimes be easy to get lost and unsure where to go. Besides that, the guns all feel fun to shoot and the AI is really good and fun to go up against. I don't think I'll be revisiting it anytime soon, but I am glad I played it.

Pikmin 49
Jul 26, 2023
Pikmin 4 is a fantastic game with great visuals and fun, relaxing and addictive gameplay. I just got into Pikmin this year and this game made me quite happy I did. To start, the graphics are very good. Nintendo should use this graphical engine on more of their games, probably even most of them. The items you are collecting look extremely realistic and the lighting is very good. The gameplay is also quite fun and they added a lot compared to previous games. I enjoyed how they brought back all the previous Pikmin from the previous games instead of picking and choosing which ones to bring back. It was great to see the Pikmin from both Pikmin 2 and Pikmin 3, some of which have never been seen together before. The ice Pikmin are also a nice addition. But I think the best new addition is Oatchi. When I first saw the dog in the trailers, I wasn't completely sold. It made it seem like some of the Pikmin might even be useless completely, but he really does add a lot and make the game better. The ability to sniff out treasures, survivors and onions was a huge addition that made the game much better. They also made the game VERY beginner friendly and I think this might be the best starting point in the series. I don't care much for how they changed the number of Pikmin you can have. In previous games, you could always just have 100, but here they make you start with a much lower number and collect garlic to increase the number of Pikmin you can have. They also made it so you can only have 3 different types of Pikmin at a time. I think this was kind of dumb, especially given how they let you have access to so many types of Pikmin in one game, it's a real shame you can't just have them all at once. I really liked the additional characters in this game and the upgrade system added quite a bit. I was surprised by how much content is in this game. There's almost as much new stuff post game as there is before you roll the credits. In fact, I was slightly annoyed by some of the stuff they held for the post credits. Without spoiling anything, there were a few things I think should have been just a part of the main game instead. I really like all the new options as far as how you can play the game. The auto targeting makes this game much more accessible. I do wish the camera controls were a bit better, as they can sometimes get a bit funky when fighting certain enemies, but outside of that the different control options are very good. I love the upgrade system. It gives me even more to collect and makes me want to keep collecting everything. All in all, this is a very fun, very addictive, very relaxing game that was clearly designed with new players in mind. If you've never played a Pikmin game before, this is a great starting point. And if you were already a fan of Pikmin, you'll especially love this one.

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga8
Jul 3, 2023
Much higher quality than what I'd typically expect out of a lego game. Shooting and combat feels very good and the visuals are great. It's good at making jokes throughout the game that show how much the creators really enjoy and care about Star Wars. The main campaigns of the game follow the movies pretty closely, but there really isn't too much to them. In fact, one of my complaints about this game is that as you play through the campaign it doesn't really let you play often enough. There were quite a few cut scenes that I felt like could have been actual gameplay and let me play through them instead of showing them through cut scene, including some combat related cut scenes even. A majority of the game's content is in the side missions, which is a LOT of content and can be fun, but I don't think it's what most people would pick this game up for. I did really enjoy the game and had a lot of fun playing it. It felt less like a lego game and more like a big budget video game in graphics, sound and gameplay. I just wish they'd show me less and let me play more.

This game looks great graphically and I do really enjoy the story itself. Unfortunately, I just do not find the gameplay itself fun. In particular, shooting feels really horrible in this game. It made me quit the game about half way because it just doesn't feel good and given that's what most of the game is, that's one of the most important aspects to get right. I really wish I could give this game a higher score because I do really enjoy the story itself, but I think this is a better game to go watch on youtube than it is to play.

Street Fighter 69
Jun 4, 2023
So before I get too far into writing this review, I should make it clear where I'm coming from. I'm a fighting game noob. I enjoy Super Smash Brothers pretty casually and I occasionally pick up fighting games when they are themed around other things I enjoy (Injustice, Marvel VS Capcom, Power Rangers Battle for the Grid, etc) but I haven't really played a Street Fighter game since SF2 and I've certainly never been good at them. I caught interest in Street Fighter 6 after seeing all the trailers showing off World Tour mode and goddamn am I glad that I did. This game is absolutely fantastic and everything I'd ever want out of a fighting game. I honestly hope every fighting game takes this example and includes something like World Tour Mode because I need more of this. First off, the modern controls are exactly what I needed. They aren't perfect as it can be difficult to control exactly what move you are using, but for someone like me who doesn't usually play a whole lot of fighting games, they are good enough to learn the combos with. This was another good inclusion that I think more fighting games should learn from. World Tour Mode is what got me to pick this up and that was a good decision on my part as it is VERY fun. I enjoy exploring the world as my custom fighter and learning the different fighting styles of the different characters and combining their special moves to make something my own. I wish you could customize the different fighting styles a bit more. Being locked into one character's moves outside of the special moves is a bit annoying. I'm sure it would be difficult to program, but if I could customize all of the moves exactly, it would make this game that much better and make my character a lot more personal. I also spent a bit of time in practice mode and can appreciate all the different settings you can set up. While I'm sure this is even more useful for someone who takes this game super seriously and plays competitively, it was helpful enough for a beginner like myself. I was a bit annoyed by the forced tutorial though at the beginning of the game and even more annoyed that everything in it is just taught in World Tour Mode anyway. From a graphics and performance standpoint, there's nothing particular special but nothing bad either. It runs at a smooth 60 fps, although not by default. I forget if there was a setting when I first started playing (as that was nearly 20 hours of gameplay ago) but I had to look up if the game was 60 FPS and then go turn it on. My only real complaint is the starting roster. I know there's plans for DLC and all that, but it's still disappointing to see that the roster is a bit small. While I know I've missed out on a few Street Fighter games, but I know there's LOTS of more characters to choose from to include, and the 18 available characters just doesn't feel like enough, especially given how World Tour Mode works. 30 feels like it would have been the right number from the start. I do hope that as they introduce the new DLC characters, they also show up in World Tour Mode and add more story and gameplay to that as well. It's easily been my favorite part of this game. Bringing in some characters from Final Fight would also be neat as that's a series I also enjoy and was happy to see so many references to. All in all, I hope every other fighting game learns from this and this because the default way of putting fighting games together. There's always plenty to do as far as multiplayer goes in most fighting games, but most fighting games can't seem to get the single player right. Street Fighter 6 on the other hand does and if the next Mortal Kombat game or Tekken game or anything along those lines also has a mode similar to World Tour Mode, they too would be a day one purchase for me. Capcom hit it out of the park with this and it's certainly the most fun I've had with a fighting game in years. Would recommend to just about anyone..

Star Trek: Resurgence7
May 28, 2023
This is an awesome Star Trek game with a great story and story telling methods that makes you feel like you are participating in an episode of Star Trek The Next Generation. Unfortunately, it's a pretty average video game full of technical glitches that seem to take place at the worse possible times most of the time. Graphically, the game is fine. It's not particularly impressive, but it's not bad looking either. It's exactly what I expect out of an indie game like this. Framerate is fine and doesn't usually relate directly to the glitchiness. The sound however glitches in and out and repeats sometimes when it's supposed to be saying something else, making it difficult to follow elements of the story when this happens. This is particularly irritating given how important the story is in this type of game. It doesn't happen super often, but it happens often enough to be noticable, maybe once every few chapters. I've gotten one or two graphical glitches as well, but those usually aren't as distracting or noticable. The story is VERY good and the characters are enjoyable. If you've played a Telltale game before, this should be quite familiar to you as that's where the developers used to work. However, while I personally had trouble getting into Telltale games like Batman and The Walking Dead, I had no issues really diving into Star Trek Resurgence. The story was very good, engaging and kept me wanting to keep playing to find out more about what was going on. The characters are well developed with interesting relationships and dynamics. I think any fan of Star Trek will REALLY enjoy this game and I did find myself losing track of time as I played as the game had me hooked. As far as gameplay goes, I really only have one complaint and that's the use of the R2 trigger as a primary button for selecting things when exploring. It seems like a bit of an odd choice and it doesn't make it clear that is the button to use for that. Given that literally no other game does this, a prompt to let you know would have been appreciated. All in all, I'm just slightly disappointed. There is the makings of a very good game here and I think if they delayed it a few more months, they could have polished it into something really special that Star Trek fans would consider to be essential to the franchise. It's sad that I'm giving such a low score to a game that really did have me hooked, but I can not ignore the at times odd controls, constant bugs and technical glitches. The story is very good and I think most big fans of Star Trek like myself would be willing to power through to enjoy what's there, but the more casual Star Trek fan who also enjoys video games will probably want to skip this one, at least for now. Perhaps in the future there will be patches that can help fix this game and really make it great, but until then it's got the makings of something great, held back by a lack of polish.

Road 96: Mile 07
May 15, 2023
I loved Road 96 and it might be one of my absolute favorite indie games. So, when they announced a prequel, I was pretty excited. Unfortunately, this game does not capture the magic of the first game. The story is very good, but the gameplay is simply not as interesting. The skating sections are a bit boring and this game misses out on a lot of the environments and story details that made the first game great. I do find the characters interesting, but the story they are going through simply isn't as interesting and the method of story telling isn't as interesting as the first game either. If you are a big fan of Road 96, this game might be worth checking out but you shouldn't expect it to be as good as the first one. If you have not played Road 96 before, just skip this game and go play that one instead.

Marvel's Avengers7
May 5, 2023
Full disclosure that I played this in May of 2023, after the service end date. So a lot of the problems a lot of other reviews and people in general have with this game, I didn't personally deal with. I had everything unlocked from the beginning and basically just played through the story plus a few additional missions so I could fully try every character. Most characters feel pretty similar, fitting one of several archetypes. The story is good and the developers clearly knew the source material very well. The voice acting is great and the game itself, while sometimes a bit repetitive, is generally quite fun. There's some good humor, as you'd expect out of these types of Marvel games. However, a big weak point is still a lot of the games as as service stuff, even after the service end date. The different stats and menus and gear systems is an interesting idea but poorly implemented and can be VERY confusing and barely matters anyway. It can be confusing to figure out what you are supposed to do next in the story and there is certainly a bit of dialogue that needs work. There's a lot of simple fun to be had with this game. I think Marvel fans will enjoy it for what it is, but most people should probably stay away. It's not a horrible game, but it's also far from great. If you can pick it up for twenty dollars or less, you'd probably be happy with the purchase.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut8
Apr 3, 2023
The Director's Cut is my first time playing Ghost of Tsushima as I wanted to wait until I could play it on a PS5 and I do not regret it. The Dual Sense controller really does increase the experience **** game. To start, the game is graphically very beautiful. There's lots to see and the landscape is generally quite diverse. It really does show off the graphical capabilities of the PS5 and I do enjoy how realistic most of the textures are. Everything sounds good and the voice acting is very average. The story itself is absolutely fantastic with lots of good lore in both the main missions and side missions with lots of good and important messages contained within. With all that said, the game isn't perfect. While combat and gameplay is mostly good, the lack of decent crafting options is a bit disappointing. There's all the makings of what could be a good crafting system that isn't followed through on nearly enough and in fact isn't even ever actually called crafting. It certainly should be crafting, since a lot of the game is collecting crafting materials and there's enough materials in the game for a full crafting system, but a lot of the materials just end up feeling useless. While Jin's (your main character) move set is very diverse, it's almost too diverse as there were clearly not enough buttons on the controller for them to do everything with this game that they wanted to, ending up with a lot of switching between weapons and sword forms while in combat. It doesn't always feel super smooth for that reason. However, the different ways you can play the game and either go straight into combat or use stealth or a mixture of both even makes the game feel like there's a lot of variety in how you can approach each mission. I think my biggest issue with the game however is that it's simply too long. While this may be to how I decided to play, completing the side missions while also playing through the main story, the game felt like it was going on forever. I enjoyed most of my time with it, but as someone who likes to play a lot of games, I wouldn't have minded if it was just a bit shorter so I can move on to the next game. 25-35 hours including side content should be about the right length and this game is about twice that amount of time. While I did enjoy Ghost of Tsushima, I do find it to be a bit overhyped when you hear people talking about it or read other people's reviews. While the game is high quality, there's nothing super innovative here, at least not innovative enough that I would expect other games to try it too. It's a fun game that is very much worth playing for the story and gameplay, but I don't see myself revisiting anytime soon.

Control7
Apr 3, 2023
Control has a great story, an interesting setting and is generally a very pretty game, but that's really all it has going for it. The ability to levitate items and use the environment can be fun at times but generally feels a bit clunky. The shooting also feels very clunky. The difficulty is also a bit weird, varying at different parts of the game in ways that it doesn't feel like it should. This is most notable in the boss fights, but even at other parts of the game, the difficult simply doesn't always make sense, sometimes being too easy and at other times being too difficult and never being super consistent. The game has an interesting story although there is certainly a lot of filler. All in all, it's certainly far from a bad game, but also not a great game. If they could tighten up the shooting and combat and make the powers more fun to use, we could be on to something here.

A fun, open world experience with a great crafting system. The game is a bit too long but offers a lot in story and gameplay. It feels a bit like it should be a Walking Dead game in both good ways and bad. There's not a whole lot to see in the open world, but defeating hoards is quite fun. Very much worth the twenty dollars I paid for it.

Pikmin 3 Deluxe9
Mar 16, 2023
This game is very fun. It controls very well and looks nice. The story is good for what it is. My only real complaint is that it feels like it was very specifically built for multiplayer in a way that almost makes it more difficult to play single player. It's still a great game that I had a lot of fun with. Was particularly fond of the extra missions outside the main story which are very fun themselves. If you are a fun of puzzle games or time/resource type games, Pikmin is probably right up your alley and Pikmin 3 Deluxe is the best in the series.

No Man's Sky8
Feb 5, 2023
A super addictive game that's fun to explore and build. I wish there were a bit better enemies as it seems weird to have these weapons and nothing to really take advantage of them with and collecting resources can be a bit repetitive, but there's always more to do and if you don't like one aspect of the game, there's guaranteed to be something else that you can go do that you might enjoy instead. There's a story, but it's pretty subpar to be honest and there isn't a whole lot special about the graphics. I wish there was a bit more diversity in the planets, as there's really only a few different biomes and any two planets of the same biome pretty much look identical. Still, there's lots of fun to be had and I would recommend this game to anyone looking for a space exploration type game.

Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite5
Feb 4, 2023
A lot of what the quality of this game is comes down less to what it has and more about what it doesn't have. While it's very pretty graphically has decent enough gameplay, it all falls apart when you look at everything around that and for me personally, I couldn't even get the dlc to work on ps5. To start, the voice acting, needs work. They got some of the best voice acting talents in the industry, so I know they are all capable of doing better than this. I can't help but think that whoever was directing the voice acting here was the real problem and/or perhaps the voice actors weren't able to watch the scenes as they did the voice acting? I'm not sure what it was, but something clearly went wrong in this department. The graphics are great though. You can see the individual hairs on each fighter's head and everyone looks exactly as I'd expect them to. Performance also seems to be pretty good without any major technical issues within the game itself. My biggest complaint about technical issues was actually the dlc. Full disclosure, I'm playing this game on PS5 and can not get the dlc to work at all on ps5. I paid money for the dlc and am unable to download it or use it. While this game was not made for ps5 so I really shouldn't hold this against the game too much, the ps5 is supposed to be fully backwards compatible. There really is no excuse why the dlc shouldn't work when the game itself does. The story mode is kinda weird. I like how it does let you use every character a good deal through out, but the story itself needs more backstory in the game. You can tell that in the eighty or ninety days leading up to the events of the game, a lot did happen but none of it is actually explained. Instead of starting the game several months after the convergence, the game perhaps should have started during, or even slightly before, so that the player can experience the entire story instead of just part of it. Another big weak point for the game is the roster. This is the fourth game in the series and yet it's missing many, many characters who have appeared in previous games. The roster is relatively small for a game that could make use of any Marvel or Capcom character. The Marvel side in particular feels weird as it's missing the XMen entirely. The Marvel side of this roster feels like an advertisement for the upcoming movies of the time and the Capcom side feels like an advertisement of the upcoming games. It does not feel like a love letter to the two companies or a passion project of someone who enjoyed their content. The most disappointing part though is that even with all the flaws, the gameplay itself feels good. This does feel like a solid fighting game when you are playing the fights and combos mostly come natural with room for improvement if you keep practicing and learn the combos. It feels like how most fighting games should feel. Ultimately, Marvel VS Capcom Infinite is the fourth game in the Marvel Vs Capcom series, but at times feels like the first, with a much weaker roster than the third or second games and doesn't hold up to those games in the value presented and even the story is not worth getting this game for. My own personal biggest disappointment is simply not being able to get the dlc to work at all, even though I paid for it although I tried to not let that affect the score itself.

Kena: Bridge of Spirits7
Feb 3, 2023
Kena is a beautiful game with a wonderful story but unfortunately full of poor game design choices. It's a combination of The Legend of Zelda with Pikmin and Tomb Raider and uses elements of game mechanics from all of those games, leaving the player a bit unsure at times what this game is actually trying to be, made even worse by the elements of old school game design which just feel outdated by modern standards. First off, the graphics are beautiful. The game runs perfectly smoothly and everything looks crystal clear. The lush environments make the world more appealing and make you want to explore it. The sound design is also really good with wonderful music and atmospheric sounds. The voice acting is also top notch. I really liked the story of the game. Kena is a wonderful character and helps make the game more interesting when they are exploring her story. Unfortunately, you don't actually explore her story often and it is almost confusing that they named the game after her when she realistically has every little to do with the story of the game outside of being the character you experience that story though . The rest of the stories are also very good, but it would have been nice to have a slightly more story related to the main character herself. They left her story a bit open and they could have easily explored it more towards the end of the game and for some reason chose not to. The stories of the other characters are also quite good and quite emotional. This is a game that clearly wants you to be attached to each and every character and does so quite successfully. The game's big weak point is the gameplay itself. Combat isn't entirely satisfying and doesn't really have a whole lot of complexity to it. There's an upgrade system within the game but it is almost useful as the rewards don't actually feel like they offer much. The world itself can be fun to explore, but trying to complete the game objectives isn't always fun as you struggle to figure out what you are supposed to do from moment to moment. It feels a bit like an older Gamecube or PS2 type game, in all of the good ways but also all of the bad ways, making the game design feel a bit out dated. There's a map in the game that's supposed to help, but without any method of setting up waypoints, feels quite useless at times. There is a lot to like within Kena, but at the end of the day it feels quite obvious that this game was made by an animation studio, not a game studio. I feel like the developers could take the experience they learned from this and hopefully make something a bit better, but the wonderful story and graphics here do not make up for the poor game design choices nearly enough, leaving me upset as the character of Kena herself feels like she deserves better.

Jan 13, 2023
There's not a whole lot to say here. This is exactly what you'd expect out of Kirby in 3D. You get the power ups and you get the mouthful mode and it's all quite fun. It gets a bit repetitive in the middle as you get closer to the end, but this is ultimately a good game.

Doctor Who: The Edge of Reality2
Jan 9, 2023
This game is a glitchy mess with all sorts of frame rate related issues and doesn't even know what type of game it wants to be. There's a lot of wandering around, trying to figure out what the game is supposed to do and sometimes you can't even actually do what it's trying to get you to do, so you are stuck there listening to the advice of the NPC trying to tell you what to do, while struggling to do it. The story of the game itself is good and I think most Doctor Who fans would enjoy that aspect of it, BUT that's the only enjoyable aspect of this game. Do not buy this game. Do not play this game. If you have any interest, just go watch a youtube play through. This game is absolutely horrible.

This is an extremely charming Doctor Who game that could be considered a direct sequel to the fan favorite episode Blink from the series. It's a found phone game that takes probably about 2-5 hours depending on your skill level. It's a good game and a must play for any fan of the Doctor Who series. That being said, there are some small issues, specifically with the pricing. I know the company has employees to pay and a license that cost money, but 12 dollars for what you get here seems like a bit much given the length of the game and how simply the gameplay is. If you can get this on sale, it would probably be a smart idea.

Spider-Man Miles Morales is a great game! It has great graphics and plays really well on the PS5. This feels like how Spider-Man was meant to be played. I legitimately only have two complaints and they are both in comparison to the first game. I felt like the first game had better gadgets and upgrades and I also liked the button mapping a bit better in the first game. However, the venom powers here make for some interesting gameplay and I do find this particular version of Miles Morales to be quite relatable and I find the villain of this game to be more interesting. All in all, this game is very much worth buying, but make sure you play the first game in the series before hand. I still think it's a just slightly better game.

Life is Strange: True Colors8
Dec 11, 2022
This is a great game. The gameplay itself is fun (if you are into telltale like games) and there's also plenty to explore between making dialogue choices. The characters are interesting and I find myself attached to nearly all of them in some way or another. The story is also good and leaves enough mystery and suspense to keep you going. It is a bit like a telltale type game and those certainly aren't for everyone, making this game difficult to recommend to just anyone and while the game is fun, there's nothing particular special about it in comparison to others of these types of games. The new power for this installment of Life is Strange is certainly more interesting than LiS2 but not quite as interesting as the time travel stuff in LiS1. Personally, if this is your first Life is Strange game, I think you would be better off picking up the Remastered Collection of the first two games that is available on Playstation, Switch, Xbox and PC. The first game is 100 percent better than this one. That being said, if you did enjoy that one, you'll probably enjoy this one and this would be very much worth picking up at that point.

Life is Strange: Arcadia Bay Collection8

I loved the Life is Strange games before this port and originally played them on Playstation. This collection is a good port. The games function fine on Switch. I imagine most people would probably like the playstation version better due to the better graphics, but if all you own is the Switch, then this is a fine port of some great games. If you already own it elsewhere, there's nothing particular special about these ports that would make them worth double dipping unless you just really want a portable version. As for the games themselves, I've always been a fan of these games. Great story and great decision making and the choices you make in the game do feel like they actually affect the story up until the ending which is mostly unaffected by your choices. Could be better, but still one of the better of these story based games that have been a bit popular in the last decade or so.

Pokemon Scarlet8
Nov 23, 2022
I have been a Pokemon fan since nearly day 1 and Pokemon Scarlet and Violet are the games that give me the closest feeling to playing Pokemon Red for the first time in all of the right ways, but also in all the bad ways as well. First the new Pokemon designs are great. There are a lot of new Pokemon that I really enjoy and there's a lot of new favorites for me. Palafin, Greavard, Scovillain, Revavroom, Baxcalibur, Nacli, Iron Thorns, Armarouge, Ceruledge, Tinkaton are all personal favorites of mine. That being said, for a Pokemon that's based on time travel, it's kind of weird that we don't have new fossil Pokemon, nor a new version of Porygon, in fact Porygon isn't even in the game. That being said, the selection of returning Pokemon is quite good and I think most people will find at least a few of their favorites have returned. I do like the music and sounds. The sound track is one of the best of any game on the Switch and the sounds all come out perfectly clear. The environments are also generally quite nice, but we should probably mention the elephant in the room. The performance of these games are not great. There are FPS dips. There are graphical glitches. Pokemon is a game series that became popular due to glitches from the very start. Things like Missingno in Red and Blue and the clone glitch in Gold and Silver are part of what made those games so easy to talk about and there are glitches like that here, like one that allows you to make your character run faster. However, the overwhelming amount of glitches and performance issues in this game are bad and can be distracting at times. As for exploring the world, I also have mixed feelings here. If you are just exploring the world, looking for whatever as you wander around you'll have quite a bit of fun. There's LOTS of pokemon to see and catch and there's lots of other sights to see and things to do. It's just plain and simple fun. The problem comes in if you are looking for a specific location to go to. The map AI in this game is horrible. When you first open it up, it sometimes rotates around until you realize there's a setting to turn that off. They do not make it super clear that you can turn it off however and the button that shows you can could mean a lot of different things. Even besides that though, the map still isn't good. There's no way to toggle icons off, making it difficult to find the specific one you want to put a waypoint on it and it doesn't make it easy to figure out how to get from one location to the next. Towns barely feel like they matter anyway with the open world being built the way it is. Each town you'll beat the gym and possibly never care to visit again. Speaking of gyms, the gym leaders and characters of this game are quite impressive. I find all of them to be unique and interesting. The story is also very good. I would say it's not quite as good as Black and White, but that's the games that it closest compares to. Certainly better than most Pokemon games. Outside of world exploration, the story is probably the strongest part of the game. There's also a new mechanic called the Terastal phenomenon. I think casual players will quite enjoy this and I generally found it fun but competitive pokemon battlers will probably hate it. Raiding is also quite fun and the random raid battles is one of the best new quality of life features. Speaking of quality of life features, I'm a big fan of the EXP ALL and I'm glad it's in the game, but it is disappointing that once again there's no option to turn it off. It's always better to have more options and it's disappointing that again and again, this is something the Pokemon Company keeps getting wrong. I'm a big fan of it, but I do understand why some people don't like it and this is something that needs to be fixed. Character customization is also not great here. It's weird that they chose to advertise that everyone could wear anything but then take out most of the clothing options. In fact, there's also a bunch of other small issues. The beginning is tedious due to the handholding and due to the lack of transversal options at the start. Given how huge of a factor that is to this game, it probably shouldn't even be something you have to unlock. Lacking signs on certain buildings is also an issue as you have to keep going inside to figure out what each building is. The difficulty is also kind of weird. Boss battles are too easy at times but catching Pokemon is too difficult. It shouldn't take 10-15 ultra balls to catch a level 30 or so Pokemon. All that being said, once you really get playing, this is a VERY fun game. You should not let the performance issues get in the way of your enjoyment of this game and there's so much to enjoy. The open world is very fun to explore and this is what I think most people want Pokemon to be. If you've been waiting for the big Breath of the Wild moment for Pokemon, simply put, this is indeed it

There are performance issues. The gameplay can be difficult to adjust to if you've played the Arkham games and in fact plays a lot closer to the Spider-Man game on PS4. There are things you have to unlock in the game that you should just start the game with. However, once you've played for a few hours and gotten used to everything, the game is actually quite fun. The characters are enjoyable, the story is somewhat predictable but still good and the world building is perfect. I enjoy the sights and sounds of this Gotham City and I get some real early Animated Series vibes from many of the characters. This is not a perfect game, but if you can find it for relatively cheap you should certainly pick it up and give it a try! I do not regret my purchase and neither would you.

This is simply a fun game that's easy to put a bunch of hours into. If you are into rogue like games or animal crossing like games, this game has elements of both and does both quite well. Its a ten to fifteen hour game that I personally put nearly fifty hours into and I don't regret a single one. This could even be my game of the year. It fixed nearly every issue I had with the original game. The combat feels very good and the graphics are great. The 60 FPS performance mode makes me happy. The open world is fun to explore and feels rewarding. Everything about the game feels better than the first and the story is very good at pulling you along. I love all the characters and I love just exploring the world of this game.

Star Wars: The Force Unleashed9
Apr 23, 2022
If you played the original Wii version of the Force Unleashed, this is a fine port. The Switch Joy Cons don't work as well at motion control as the Wii controllers did, but they do have an optional button layout if you'd rather play without motion controls. If you did not play the Force Unleashed on Wii but have played the game before, this is in my humble opinion, the best version of the game. The motion controls do add a lot to the game if you are into them, and if you are not there are still button controls as an option. There's also a multiplayer duel mode, which isn't anything too impressive but can be fun for a good fifteen or twenty minutes with friends to see who can put out more force lighting than the other. If you have never played the Force Unleashed at all before, I strongly recommend this game. It is my favorite Star Wars game. You get to play as a Sith with a strong emphasis on force abilities. You also get to use the lightsaber and it is important to the game, but the focus is clearly the force abilities. Force lighting, force choking, force levitation, it's all here and it feels very good. The story is good for the time period it originally released, although hasn't aged incredibly well. The game is also quite short by today's standards. However, none of that really matters as the focus is the gameplay and if you are a fan of hack and slash style games, you'll probably absolutely love this. The game is exactly what you'd expect out **** of that time period and if you weren't gaming in that time period, you might not particularly enjoy this. However, if you are into late PS2/Gamecube/Xbox or early PS3/Wii/360 type games and didn't get a chance to check this out the first time around, I strongly recommend it!

Pokemon Legends: Arceus9
Feb 4, 2022
I've been playing Pokemon games since gen 1. I've enjoyed every Pokemon game since then. Pokemon Legends Arceus is a great video game, perhaps one of the best on Switch if not the absolute best, but it is not the best Pokemon game per say. First off, graphically, it looks fine. Pokemon games have never been visually impressive and I personally don't see a whole lot of difference between this game graphically and something like Breath of the Wild. The sounds are great. The music sound track hits hard and the game itself makes good use of sound effects. Sometimes you can kind of tell where a Pokemon might be just by listening. It helped me a lot as it was much easier to tell when a Pokemon was about to attack. Performance is fine. The game is 30 FPS, but it's a consistent 30 FPS. Personally, while I do prefer 60 FPS, I don't actually mind 30 FPS as long as it's consistent and the framerate here is good enough for me. Of course though, this is a Pokemon game, so gameplay is what really matters. This game is very fun and very addictive. It's relaxing to go out looking for Pokemon. The boss battles need a bit of work, but generally I've had fun with this game. It's very addictive. I don't have a whole lot of free time due to work and stuff, so the fact that I've played about 50 hours of this game in just the last week that it's been out says a lot. The crafting system is a nice idea, but it needs a bit of work to be really good. A lot of the resources you gather are only good for one or two specific items and that seems like a bit of a waste. It would be a nice if you had to think about which resources you wanted to use for which items and if each resource had a few different uses. As it is, you have resources that are very specifically for certain types of pokeballs, resources that are very specific for certain types of medicine, etc. It gets to a point where you simply just don't collect certain resources because you simply have no good use for them. The Pokemon themselves however is what really matters. Battling them is fun and switching between the overworld and the battles themselves has never been better. I do think the move pool is lacking. I noticed a lot of moves seem to have been taken out of the game and while in some ways that helps balance the battles, it makes it difficult to get the right moves for certain Pokemon and type coverage becomes difficult. Speaking of variety, Pokemon is where this game needs a LOT of work. The Pokedex is only about 250 Pokemon, the smallest we've ever had outside of remakes. Most of those Pokemon are from Sinnoh, which makes sense given the story. However, it's a bit disappointing to see such a limited number of Pokemon in this type of enviornment. There was about 10-12 Pokemon that seem to be available in every area and with as many Pokemon are there are, this simply shouldn't be the case. I know people have complaints about Sword and Shield, but this is something they really got right with the wild area in Sword and Shield, so it's disappointing to see how limited the selection of Pokemon is here. A 400-500 pokemon size of Pokedex would make a lot more sense here. The story is very good. It's not the absolute best story we've ever gotten in Pokemon, but it easily makes the top 5. My only real complaint is that there is much too much handholding through the story. In other Pokemon games, this makes sense, given how linear the games are in the first place. Here however, it makes a lot less sense given the open world enviornments. All I really want to do is explore the enviornment and they almost seem to force the story upon you instead. I do like the rewards for Pokedex completion and completion of the game itself as you go. This game gives the most insentive to keep going out of all the Pokemon games and easily gives the best rewards. You get money for pokedex completion and I find myself continuing to catch as many Pokemon as I can so I can get more money to get more items and clothes. I do wish there were more clothing options, but the ones that are there are good. There's also way more shiny hunting options than usual, which is nice for people who enjoy that sort of thing. All in all, Pokemon Legends Arceus is a very good game, but if you are looking to pick up your first Pokemon game, I'd recommend Sword and Shield first and then checking this out afterwards. This is easily the better game, but Sword and Shield is the better Pokemon experience where you get to see and do more Pokemon related stuff. I'd say both games are 100 percent must plays for anyone interested in Pokemon. Pokemon Legends Arceus is very good groundwork for future games and I certainly plan on following to see what they continue to do with the Pokemon Legends series. I think with a bit of refinement and just generally taking everything a bit farther, this very well could be the future of main line Pokemon games and that excites me.

Gnosia8
Jan 18, 2022
Gnosia is advertised as a werewolf or mafia style game and indeed that's the main aspect of the gameplay, however this game is quite a bit more than that. It's actually a scifi, time traveling adventure. It's a visual novel, disguised with slight gameplay elements to make what starts as an addictive way to play werewolf by yourself into a wonderful story that becomes difficult to put down as you wait to find out what will happen next. So, the main gameplay loop is quite simple. You are with a group of people and two of those people are essentially bad guys. Your role as a group is to figure out who the bad guys is and attempt to vote them out. If you don't, they'll kill another person in the night and then it repeats the next day. At night, you get to interact with the rest of the crew and that's where a lot of the real story actually is. The game has an art style that reminds me a bit of an anime like art style. The sounds are fine. The music is fine. The aesthetics are good and I like the scifi theme of it all. My only real issue is the gameplay itself. Since there's relatively limited dialogue options, it gets repetitive over several loops and part of the time you'll find yourself wanting to rush through the voting and the debate to get straight to the story afterwards. Ultimately, this is not a game for everyone and if you are only wanting a single player mafia or werewolf like experience, you may actually be in for a disappointment, but if you are a fan of the anime art style, the scifi aesthetic, or just deep storying telling in a visual novel like experience then you'll probably want to pick this up.

Phoenix Wright: Ace Attorney Trilogy8
Jan 8, 2022
First off, I want to start by saying that the Ace Attorney games are not for everyone. If you are not a fan of visual novels, this probably isn't the collection for you. However, if you enjoy heavy story based games, point and click type games or puzzle solving games, you'll probably really enjoy the ace attorney games. These games are graphically beautiful with fantastic music. I want to get special props to the music in the first game, which was so good that I almost had trouble getting through the second game because it didn't have the music from the first. I didn't notice any issues with frame rate or performance however this isn't exactly the type of game where that sort of thing would matter anyway. The story is what really matters here and while each game has it's own overall story, there's also a bit of an over arcing story between the three games that really shows the evolution of the characters over all. The characters are the other thing that really matters here. Someone deserves an award for the design of these characters. There's a lot of wacky personalities most of which are quite lovable. The game is really good at making you hate the bad guys, love the good guys and feel bad for the victims. There's also a few different redemption type arcs through out the games that work REALLY well. I can not recommend this collection enough to anyone who is a fan of visual novel type games and it honestly feels perfect for the Switch specifically. This collection is semi regularly on sale though, so I wouldn't buy it at full price and would instead wait for the next big event to cause it to go on sale.

Super Smash Bros. Ultimate9
Jan 8, 2022
Smash Ultimate was clearly a labor of love, not just for Sakurai but for everyone involved in the making of this wonderful game. It's great to see such a large variety of characters here, the controls are smooth and feel right. The music is great and they have a large representation from a large selection of games. My only real complaint is that it would be nice to maybe have a bit more singe player content and more of an actual story mode, not just a board game. Besides that, it is a nearly perfect game.

Road 969
Jan 8, 2022
Road 96 is a fantastic game with a fantastic story. If you are a fan of games story driven games where you make a lot of choices like Life is Strange and Telltale games, this game may be for you. And if you have had trouble getting into those types of games, this one may still be worth giving a try as it's much more interactive than those types of games usually are. Each segment usually has you making a few choices, interacting with a different character and playing a few "minigames," as one might call them. At one point this involves playing air hockey against one of the other characters and another one of them has you helping a character find the right broadcast signals for their TV by moving the antenna around. These types of interactions really help liven up the game a bit, making it more interactive than your typical "interactive movie" style game. In fact, even though it's a choice driven game, I'd have trouble referring to it as an "interactive movie," because there is so much actual gameplay involved. The characters are easy to connect to, with a lot of strange personalities and humor. You take several trips across the country that the game takes place in and each trip is completely random. You'll never take the same trip twice. This sounds more impressive than it actually is however, as it's mostly pulling from the same 80 or so scenes and putting them in a random order, however the randomness of that order can affect how those scenes progress, giving more reason to come back and replay the game. There's also several endings and I have at this point replayed the story of this game four times trying to get every ending. There is a lot of replay ability here. The story itself is also quite interesting and I find myself intrigued by the political aspects, which are quite heavy within the story. And it would be wrong of me to not mention the soundtrack. I'm not usually one to notice sound tracks in video games but this one is particularly good. I find myself humming the tunes in every day life, even when I'm not playing the game. However, when it comes to the graphics, there's not much particularly impressive. Some of the environments are pretty and nice to look at, but there's a lot of pop-in and the textures, while certainly not horrible, aren't particularly impressive either. Graphically, this almost looks like something out of the Wii/PS3/360 era. I however did not notice any issues with frame rate or performance and it seemed to do quite well on the Switch. All in all, I was impressed that such an amazing game could have been made by such a small team and this game is the perfect example of how good an indie game can be. The main story is probably about 10-15 hours, but there's so many reasons to go back and at this point I've probably spent closer to 30-40 hours on the game. Would strongly recommend to almost anyone.
