Pokemon Legends: Z-A

Pokémon Legends: Z-A hits such an exceptional stride. An invigoratingly original combat system, an almost surprisingly good narrative that covers real and important themes, and the same charming monster designs and aesthetics that continue to define Pokémon as one of the biggest media properties in history. Excellent work, Game Freak.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A reinvents the series with bold real-time battles and an ambitious urban world. Though exploration feels limited, its combat depth and smooth performance make it a standout evolution for the saga.

Pokémon Legends: Z-A builds a brand-new framework for enjoying the franchise from a fresh perspective through its battle system — and in the long run, that could mark a game-changing shift for the series.

Playing Pokemon Legends: Z-A just felt good. I enjoyed exploring the city, collecting side missions, and gathering clothes to craft my ideal outfit. Not every mechanic is a win, and some of the platforming elements of exploring the city felt a bit clunky, but it’s a game that had me wanting to come back for more. I appreciated having a bit more of a straightforward story than in games like Pokemon Scarlet & Violet, while still having plenty of side content to immerse myself in. The main story is a good length, and with all those side missions and hidden areas to explore, I can easily see myself sinking many more hours into Legends: Z-A even after the credits roll.

If you’ve loved Pokémon but the latest releases have left you disappointed for various reasons, Pokémon Legends: Z-A won’t change your mind — yet it proves that Game Freak still has a ton of super-effective moves in its arsenal. Despite some rough edges in the story and balance, and a technical side hampered more by design choices than by execution, the new Pokémon Legends entry is fun, immediate, and engaging — though it could have been much, much more. The Japanese developer is still experimenting, adding and removing elements in search of the perfect formula, but continues to do so with the nonchalance of a studio that knows it can sell millions of copies with minimal effort. And that’s a shame, because Z-A is probably the best Pokémon game in years. With just a bit more effort — and the hardware potential of the Switch 2 — Game Freak could truly get back on track.

Where Legends: Arceus focused on collecting, Legends: Z-A does the same for the combat system. Complemented by a fantastic soundtrack and a wealth of customization options, you're completely free to choose your own path in Lumiose City. Except for the slow opening hours, where the story requires patience before you can truly explore Lumiose City to your heart's content.

If you took out the branding and populated it with generic creatures instead of marketable pocket monsters, Pokémon Legends: Z-A would be rightly seen as a sub-mediocre and sloppy RPG, the kind with 115 "mostly negative" user reviews on Steam. Game Freak knows how much grace the public affords Pokémon and has taken the absolute piss with it, churning out a cheap budget game with a premium price, expensive DLC, and a ten buck markup to get a decent framerate...The audacity of this exploitative cash-in is honestly quite disgusting. At least Ekans is in it.

Pokemon Legends: Z-A was a game that I was waiting with hope, because it is based on the Kalos region, which is one of my favorites. Then the game released and limited only in the capital of the region, which is also not looking good compared to the original. The streets feel empty and the mechanics are broken... However, the main drawback of this "game" is that, in 2025, there are games back from PS2 that look much better. The walls are flat, the physics are bad and the animations are awful, and that could be justified if they were a indie company, but they are the biggest franchise in the world. I will not buy another game of this company, since they have released not a single good game since the release of Pokemon Sun and Moon

It's a Pokémon game, which inherently means that its not gonna be bad. However was it great? I mean it was alright. Don't get me wrong I liked this game, the new battle mechanics were nice refresh to the series. A big complaint with the game was the small map size, being restricted to only Lumiose City. But I found that when exploring the world It never truely felt small, there was always someone to talk to and something to look at...even if it was a PNG balcony. I also liked the story and how it added onto Pokémon X & Y, however I felt it could of been fleshed out further. As time goes on Pokémon games have become easier and easier, which makes complete sense considering the demographic of the game but it only took me 20ish hours to complete the game. Surprisingly short considering others in the series. What I really liked was the key gameplay, the Battle Zones and Wild Zones. The Battle Zones each night were repetitive but also extremely fun, absolutely demolishing every NPC in the area brought me great joy. Additionally, the Wild Zones were great and I loved trying to catch every Pokémon to complete each one. It also made completing the Pokédex a lot less daunting for someone who has never done it before. Overall, like I said, it's a Pokémon game. You're probably going to like it.

Pokémon Legenden Z-A hat mir persönlich sehr viel Spaß gemacht und es läuft auf der Switch 2 flüssig. Optisch hätte man aber deutlich mehr daraus machen müssen - sowohl technisch, als auch von der Abwechslung her. Interessant hierbei ist, dass die Kanalisation deutlich besser aussieht als der Rest des Spiels. Das Gameplay macht Spaß, man muss sich aber auch bewusst sein, dass es ein sich wiederholender Loop ist. Der Onlinemodus funktioniert, ist aber weniger Spassig.

Complete lack of voice acting is just absurd, even low budget indie games have it today. Other then that game is not bad, tho graphics are still mediocre at best

Jogar em um único mapa circular tanto no jogo principal como na DLC baira o ridículo. Nem o novo modo de batalha salva a preguiça e falta de criatividade que isso aqui teve.
