Thanks to a simple but sensible approach that prioritizes giving each Mii a little push on their way to happiness with a myriad customization options, there’s plenty to do here in a comedic fashion that inevitably can start feeling a tad too repetitive at moments, even when keeping in mind this is an experience best enjoyed in shorter sessions, but the game's formula and incentives are well tuned and the interaction is simple and welcoming for everyone, especially those with a creative eye.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is a solid entry for both fans and newcomers. The new relationship and personalization options are very welcome, but the lack of sharing features and online play is a major flaw, as is the absence of Portuguese as a language option.

Tomodachi Life - Living the Dream is an incredibly enjoyable cozy game that celebrates friendship in a humorous way. The depth of the customisation is quite overwhelming and may feel inaccessible to some players, but the sheer amount of options makes the game an experience that has something to offer for everyone.

This game has great music that fits the vibes. The Mii Maker is simple to use and has lots of variety for creating Miis. I could only find one "glitch" when playing where Miis would talk in word salad to each other. Your Miis can be given little quirks and expressions, although I wish there were ones that could change their accents. This game is funny through its unexpected event, news report, and dreams. Your Miis can get acquainted and become friends and even fall in love. Although, two Miis of the same gender can marry each other, which isn't the case in real life. This game is very fun, but Miis will ask you to play the same games over and over, lowering replayability. This game is a must-buy for Nintendo Switch. ****/watch?v=NwBn1p_71vc

I love this game with my all my heart. From the creation software to the interactions with your miis this game is cozy and fun however the games does have some issues with the biggest one being it's lack of content. My first few weeks I had with the game were AMAZING seeing everything new in the game but after a month and a half I barley had motive to log back on because there's nothing new to see. Leveling up happens way to fast and there just isn't enough events to keep me playing for longer than 30 minutes

Kick back, relax, and get completely stupid, wacky, and weird, because the best game of 2026 is here. I can’t put this game down, and if you’re a fan of life simulators, I just know the same will be true for you, too.

If attempting to describe what Tomodachi Life: A Life of Dreams actually is proves complicated, venturing to evaluate it feels like an almost subversive act. It can be one of those games that ends up sneaking its way into the routine of daily life, or an experience that feels immediately off-putting. I found it both adorable and challenging—challenging in the sense that its particular brand of humor would put anyone to the test—though I happen to be the kind of person who enjoys being destabilized by a bit of culture shock.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream delivers exactly what fans want: a chaotic, creative, and relaxing life sim full of charming, unpredictable Mii moments. The expanded creator and island customization make it a strong return for the series. While it still thrives on its unique charm, missing features like the concert hall and limited distinction between child and adult Miis hold it back slightly. Even so, it remains incredibly fun, the kind of game you pick up for minutes and end up playing for hours, making it an easy recommendation for fans.

Tomodachi Life: Living The Dream is a bizarre delight with unlimited potential, but you must be willing to unearth that brilliance for yourself instead of expecting the game to guide you. It surrenders to repetition far sooner than I’d like, but the sheer amount of things you can make your Miis do, say, and the relationships they gradually develop are so wonderful that it’s easy to overlook some otherwise notable flaws. The more you put into this game, the more you’re going to get out of it. For me, it already feels like it has all the ingredients to become another cult classic masterpiece that will go down in history.

What is arguably the most absurd and funniest game of the year doesn't always manage to strike a balance between creative freedom and gameplay motivation.

Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream is an enjoyable simulator of managing society from the advantage of an overlord who can play with the characters as if they were dolls, but never fully control the unhinged nature of human interaction. The dialogue and events are full of silly whims and this funny mood gives form to its comfortable experience. It’s important to keep in mind, however, that much of what it offers depends on how much the player dedicates to it and the repetition may boggle it down.

Tomodachi Life proves beguiling and boring in equal measure. [Issue#424, p.110]

I don't get what's so exciting about this game.
The game is all about creating Miis, chosing their clothes and decorating a flat island with 0.1 % of them items you get in Animal Crossing.
There's absolutly nothing else to do. No farming, no fishing, no collection, no craft, no gameplay.
If you watch some livestreams you will see that every island looks the same and that people spend 99.99% of their play time in the Mii editor.
And yes, it's fun to create Mario or Shrek but if you want something else than a Mii editor, it gets boring really fast.

This game is absurdly hostile to anyone with a normal work schedule. One of the three active window of the market is 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM, which is great if you’re a student or otherwise free during the day, but terrible if you work full time. It basically expects you to bring your Switch with you, sneak time for it during the day, or miss out. That is not “immersive,” it’s just bad design. And the time-travel penalties make it even worse. Instead of respecting that players have different schedules, the game punishes you for trying to work around them. So rather than feeling like a relaxed life sim, it starts feeling like a game that actively resents adults with jobs. I wanted to enjoy this, but at this point it feels less like a life sim and more like a schedule enforcement simulator. I’m probably done with it.
SummaryThe Tomodachi Life series is back with its first brand new entry in over ten years. Create your own Mii characters based on yourself, friends, family - anyone! - and watch them live their lives on an island out at sea. Get involved with their relationships and experience all the weird and wonderful ways these Mii characters interact.... Read More
