This movie is really great, now one of my all time favorites, the action is so well directed, clean, and smart, Gun Fights are awesome, the twists, I thought this movie was straight outta a superhit novel but its apparently not, the movie is well written. I wish they make more parts after The Accountant 2 - maybe atleast 2 more movies? The setting is good "The Accountant" was hands down one of the best action-thrillers of its year. With a unique storyline, sharp direction, and standout performances—especially by Ben Affleck—it delivered both intensity and depth. The mix of high-stakes action, smart plot twists, and a lead character with complexity made it a refreshing break from the typical action formula.Movies like this are becoming harder to come by these days. Too often, we see recycled plots or overdone franchises. The Accountant stood out because it offered something different—intelligent storytelling, real suspense, and satisfying action. I really enjoyed this. Not sure why it hasn't gotten better views. For what it is, action/thriller, it had an interesting plot, good production values and I thought both Afleck and Berenthal were great.

A well-made film with a solid story, decent suspense, and — surprisingly — Ben Affleck actually pulls off playing an autistic character. Even though I know it’s not some cinematic masterpiece, I keep coming back to it. It just has a certain charm.

One thing I seemed to recall, even though I never watched the film, was the public reception to the main character, Christian Wolff (Ben Affleck), having autism and the portrayal of this. Personally, I didn’t find the portrayal to be disrespectful, or wholly inaccurate, in any way. Autism is of course a spectrum and different people will fall in different places. In fact, there were a handful of moments that felt sincere and even recognisable. I liked how The Accountant worked to shine a light on particular traits of autism such as struggling to cope and/or adhere to “normal” social situations. To have the main character in an action flick use his autism as a super power was definitely very cool and inspiring. Likewise, it was refreshing to have an action film that centred around a normal, non-hero character. The Accountant, in many ways, plays out like a comic book movie, but Wolff is still your everyday guy which was nice to see. More generally speaking, The Accountant had some moments of true, effortless humour which made for an entertaining watch if nothing else. Affleck is known for his low-key approach so this suited him well. I think that Affleck was the perfect choice for the lead, he kept me engaged for the entire film which is a tough feat when you don’t actually have too much dialogue. Every movement or expression was calculated and said what it needed to. The cast as a whole was pretty great in my opinion. Jon Bernthal had just the right amount of charm, heart, and hopefulness for a character who could’ve very easily been your generic assassin. His shared scenes with Affleck showed off their natural chemistry so I’m excited for this to be explored more in the sequel. I also thought Anna Kendrick was great in the smaller role she had as well. All in all, I am glad I watched The Accountant and I am very excited for the sequel which comes out today (25th April). Ben Affleck delivers an effortless performance and shines a light on how tough being an accountant really is (yes, I can confirm this is what my day job looks like).

This is a film where every actor finds their place perfectly. The Accountant offers plenty of appeal and impact for fans of intense, brooding action thrillers.

good acting and a measured plot that unfolds gradually, the ending is not the usual "only one of us will survive" series, the main enemy is not the main villain and I am happy with the ending, there is not enough romance, but it is logical in the movie, I recommend it to everyone who likes action movies and unusual main characters, in this case with a psological disease

Ben Affleck plays a highly-functioning autistic man who cracks books by day and skulls by night, squashing threats of both a physical and financial nature for a wide range of criminal enterprises. I appreciate the basic concept, of a man with zero social capabilities who finds rhythm and peace in his very precise, specific line(s) of work, but the surrounding story is so worried about pulling one over on the viewer that it often feels too clever for its own good. Character motivations are a major issue, for example, with many players making an absurd, nonsensical about-face at crunch time. Even the anti-hero protagonist isn't immune to this, having less than no time for his female counterpart (Anna Kendrick) one day, then suddenly risking life and limb for her the next. That disconnect badly affects their on-screen relationship, far more than the abundant personality quirks brought about by his disorder. Affleck is great in the leading role, delivering precisely the mix of nerdy intellect and rough physical wherewithal necessary to bridge the two core aspects of his character. He works very well as both an antisocial genius and a ruthless, methodical, cold-blooded killer, and makes us forget about how unlikely a pairing that really is. That makes me think there's potential for more films in this franchise, even if its gimmicky, over-twisted first plot was a letdown.

It doesn't make much sense, but has enough thrills to carry you through the thing.

Couldn't ask for more. A solid action film with enough plot twists to keep you guessing until the end. Affleck also does a superb job at playing a character with autism. Definitely a diamond in the rough film looking at these other reviews.

It's always fun to meet new characters in a Hollywood world riddled with remakes and sequels. This movie is simply brilliant, with fantastic performances from JK Simmons, Anna Kendrick, and Ben Affleck. Great story, great plot twists, and great characters. Highly recommend.

I enjoyed this film - the plot seemed quite well thought out, its relatively thought provoking and not just full of action scenes, although there are some quite good action scenes as well. Its by no means a stuffy film, although you could be excused for assuming it might be given the title - I think its fair to say that accountants aren't generally expected to have esp. interesting lives but this one in particular certainly does. Its not entirely original, as there have been a particularly high number of films out in the last 5-10 years about greed incl. corporate greed. It features a decent cast with Ben Affleck, Anna Kendrick and John Lithgow - the stand out performance in my eyes being from Anna Kendrick - her character, Dana Cummings, intrigued me. I enjoyed the plot development and thought it was one of the better action/thriller films I've seen recently, so I'd recommend it on that basis.

An example that should not be doubted of the power of an autistic or an Asperger. It will not be one of Ben Affleck's best roles but the role plays it as it should be, without exaggeration. As an action film it takes one to assimilate it but in the end the viewer, as long as he is not demanding, will be satisfied.

Not bad, not great. The movie should of gone harder on the nerdier aspects of this flick, rather than go down the shoot'em up path of the final 1/3.

Fica bem claro, no primeiro arco do filme, que o intuito do diretor é alcançar um publico amplo, no sentido de que mesmo abordando temas complexos como distúrbios mentais, o mesmo perde a oportunidade de apresentar uma direção autoral - buscando um ponto de vista mais único da cabeça do personagem, por exemplo. Muito pelo contrario: aqui tudo é explicado, fazendo com que ninguém se perca no filme, mesmo que não esteja prestando atenção. O problema mesmo é que essas explicações não se limitam apenas a trama, mas também ao próprio protagonista. Considero um fracasso que se force tanto uma personalidade autista, como nos primeiros minutos de tela do Ben Affleck, e depois venha nos explicar que ele é autista. Oras, já não estava bem na cara?! O enredo demora um pouco para "decolar", mas prende até o fim. O relacionamento com alguns personagens é meio estranho, como Wolf e Dana. O filme não parece se preocupar muito em construir uma base solida para a relação. Uma coincidência por parte dos pais e uma historia de vida já pareceram suficiente para um antissocial arriscar a vida por ela. Não achei que Affleck lidou bem com o papel - Claro que o roteiro não ajudou muito, mas ele não é carismático ou profundo o suficiente para levar o personagem nos seus momentos de tensão. Fora que seu semblante é muito... morto. J. K. Simmons realmente chamou minha atenção aqui, lindando muito bem com seu papel. Jon Bernthal não foge do seu padrão, mas nisso ele é excelente e é inegável.

C'est un petit génie des mathématiques (?) mais qui a fini expert-comptable (?)... ne devrait-il pas finir plutôt à la Nasa ou au Pentagone ou bosser pour Jack Ryan afin de contribuer à sauver le monde libre ?... en tant que super-agent euh... du Renseignement et... Attendez, Wolffie est aussi une burne euh... je veux dire une bournerie, un super-agent qui sait tout faire, mieux que ce ringard de James Bond et tout ça ! et tout ça, c'est parce qu'il était autiste quand il était petit. Alors, adulte, il l'est un peu moins mais il le reste quand même : c'est un grand timide à timidité variable mais surtout un putain de génie de sa mère qui sait tout faire, on te dit ! En, tout cas, Ben Affleck l'affligeant ou pas (ils auraient pu y caser Matt Damon le consternant, peu importe) cette grosse merdasse est en effet aussi stupide qu'elle en a bien l'air, aussi grotesque qu'elle l'est -vraiment- mais également aussi lente et mal faite qu'il est possible de (mal) faire, à son insu ou pas. C'est-à-dire donc qu'en dehors de la stupidité, ça n'avance pas et que la moindre scène d'action est filmée n'importe comment et ne ressemble qu'à un gros tas de merde. Comme tout le reste du film, de toute façon.

Way better than I thought, well written and well acted. The fight scenes looked semi real and well done. Plot was good. Characters were believable, story draws you in. Very entertaining. Will not disappoint

I love a good movie, especially one with a good story. I am not relegated to a particular genre, but I tend to lean more towards action/suspense. Nothing better than being **** into a different world and keeping you wondering, what is going to happen next. The movie; The Accountant, does not disappoint! Written by Bill Dobuque, directed by Gavin O’Connor and starring Ben Affleck as Christian Wolf, Anna Kenndrick as Dana Cummings, Jk Simmons as Raymond King, Jon Bernthal as Braxton, Cynthia Addai-R.obinson as Marybeth Medina, Jeffrey Tambor as Francis, and John Lithgow as Lamar Blackburn. I personally enjoyed the story line of The Accountant, it takes you on a journey of two young boys raised by a single military father who’s mother leaves when the father refuses help for their autistic son, simply stating “He doesn’t need a sensory environment safe place, he needs to learn to adapt and function as the real world is not sensory environmentally safe”, Christians Father. Christian and Braxton grow up with a variety of special training, which is told in a series of strategically placed flash backs woven into the story line to bring it all together. Leading two completely different lives Christian Wolf (Ben Affleck) becomes a forensic accountant usually hired to find financial deceptions and embezzlement for criminal organizations. While Braxton (Jon Bernthal) becomes a gun for hire. I was somewhat skeptical when the trailers were first released about "The Accountant", but it did not disappoint. There is sufficient character development and the story has a good amount of twists and turns. There are several intersecting story lines in this film and one branch of that is the federal department tracking The Accountant. There is ample amount of action, both gun firing and hand to hand combat. The headshots are brutal, the body count is high. Every question raised in this movie was answered by its conclusion. It was so entertaining and creative. the movie ended well leaving room for a much needed sequel. But it is not your typical action like John wick or The Equalizer. The movie is engaging and entertaining. The suspense and tension was maintained throughout. The slow moving scenes are carefully crafted with the right sound, camera, and flash backs designed to help us feel how deliberate both Christian’s need for routine and isolation are. Director O'Connor succeeded in normalizing autism and showing that behavioral conditions should not get in the way of anyone's life. For those of you that are not a big fan of Ben Affleck as an actor, I can say that, that does not take away from the story at all, in fact the movie cast him perfectly with his wooden, emotionless, intellectual yet tough look. Ben nailed the behavior and mannerisms of someone with high-functioning autism. The turning point for the movie; Christian took on an accounting job for Living Robotics, when the accountant Dana Cummings (Anna Kendrick) finds an embezzlement of 61 million- dollars within the company, Christian is hired to audit the company by the owner Lamar Blackburn (John Lithgow) and his sister Rita Blackburn (Jean Smart). During the night, Chilton the financial director of Living Robotics is murdered as if he had committed suicide and Lamar finishes the audit affecting Christian since he has not completed his job to his satisfaction. Rattled by this, Christian heads out to a farm where he is goes to shoot his guns. In the middle of a flash back of his childhood, two guns for hire show up and take the older farm couple hostage. In the process of the farmer’s wife (gun to her head) is trying to call Christian back to the house, bad guy one’s head explodes causing bad guy two to take the couple around back and try to escape in the old farm truck. Christian shoots the radiator and proceeds to engage bad guy two in a hand to knife combat. Right before Christian kills bad guy number two, he learns that more men where hired to go after the other accountant, Dana Cummings (Anna Kenndrick). Christian’s moral code has been broken so he continues to search and take out the people involved. The Accountant proceeds to add on more intrigue as the movie progresses. Though relatively predictable there are a few twist and surprises right up to the end. I really enjoyed how the last scene ties back into the beginning of the movie. It is a movie that will leave you with just enough questions to make you want to go back and watch it again.

The Accountant has good performances, action, and a cool twist at the end. Otherwise I found the plot to be pretty bland and uninteresting.

Ok. It wasn't in tears, but I felt surprised about how sweet the movie ends up being. The movie is not complicated at all. Its pretty straight. A simple action/crime story (with an insane amount of suspension of disbelief needed). What makes it better than mediocre for me is the cinematography and the editing. A simple story like this one could've dragged without a proper editing helping to entertain in the more mundane parts. Don't expect complicated storytelling and you'll be satisfied

A solid thriller spear-headed by an excellent Affleck. A little predictable at times and a great supporting cast. Really well paced and totally plausible. Recommended.

I'm frankly stunned by how critics treat this gem of a movie. What have these people been smoking?? This is a fantastic piece of filmmaking, with many fresh ideas, excellent acting on all parts, and one of the most a wonderful and deeply emotional twists near the end that I've seen in a long time. And for the most part, I never guessed what would happen next, which is not what one can say of most movies these days. How on earth is this movie scoffed at with such disdain by critics? Do yourself a favor, forget the critics, and just enjoy the ride. Implausible premise? Hell yes, but who cared about that in the last 50 thrillers and action flicks that got better ratings, if its wonderfully entertaining? Exactly.

Really not sure why this only has a 51 critic review. Its probably one of the best afleck movies I've seen. Great action, good story, good acting. Sorry, I'm being lazy with my review, but I really enjoyed this movie.

The usual thriller in which everything is blurted out at the average level. The plot is boring, but it is tried to be given most seriously and thoughtfully. Also the story is kept asynchronously. Screenwriters have obviously changed in Christopher Nolan. In general the movie would turn out much worse if the leading role wasn't played by Ben Affleck. He pulls on himself all movie. What is strange, the cast isn't bad. The plot just turns rubbish when the rat in the company becomes clear. Totally ludicrous. Cinema on once.

I wasn't sure what this movie was about going in. I wasn't sure if Ben Affleck's character was going to be a good guy or a bad guy. After seeing it he is mostly a good guy, but with some pretty dark shades. Overall I really enjoyed the movie. Some people may not like the fact that Affleck's character has Aspergers and a number of psychological traits that are not always consistently written. Still, I liked all of the actors and thought they did a good job with the material.

The Accountant is not that bad actually. The story is pretty good maybe more a family story and inquiry. It has some holes and unresolved mysteries. The actions scenes are pretty good. You can see that Affleck tried something different, and it works better at times then others. He got good actors around him. One of those rare movies that depict and show a sickness in children. If it is true in that sens is for you to judge but the film is watchable and interesting. I would say it's more influence by John Wick then the Bourne movies in terms of actions. I give it a 65%

Found this movie pretty good. There were some problems with the film but not much to hurt the film. The film was surprisingly funny. Ben Affleck gives another spectacular performance and proves that he is just as good if not better than Matt Damon as an action star. The hand to hand fighting was superb. Anna Kendrick's character on the other hand didn't really give anything to the film. She is a feat actress but she wasn't needed. Jon Beenthal was also fantastic and was a badass as well. Overall I think the majority will have a great time with this movie.

Enjoyable film perfect for a nowadays very toned Ben Affleck and his not so great acting skills. The film is more appealing and feels fresher than expected. Very nice action and shooting scenes. It kind of keeps the mistery for the entire film. A good secondary cast makes the film have enough punch. It´s not a crazy good or innovative piece of cinema so I give it a good 6/10. Definitely enjoyable.

Ben Affleck is fine. But Anna Kendrick can't act at all, which makes watching this movie very difficult. She's just so poorly suited for a lead role. All she can do is support. This could have been a much better movie with someone else in her role.

Su reparto es magnífico JK Simmons, John Berthal, Jeffrey Tambors, Anna Kendrick y su protagonista, un buen Ben Affleck. Personalmente, me han interesado más los personajes de JK y Berthal. En conclusión, el contable es una buena película para pasar el rato y entretenida, buena visualmente con un buen guión, magníficos actores... Notable.

He's not the same man inside out! The film was powerful, one of the best of the year I have seen. From the director of 'Warrior'. The story of a freelance accountant who was hired by a company to find the financial frauds. But when he's on the verge to uncover the names, the company rolls back over one of its member's death in the following day. It does not stop there, the life threat tails him and all who were involved with him. Now the film reveals his real identity going back to disclose his childhood days, like how he grew up. In the meantime, he has to find those people who are after him before they do and so with a twist the film comes to an end. Coming from a DC film, now Ben Affleck proved he can be like any other top actors from the industry. His physique was great for the role he played. Thanks to Batman role. This is like his version of 'John Wick' or 'Jack Reacher'. Definitely we can expect a sequel here. Anna Kedrick was great in the recent time with all her films, particularly the box office wise. In this she did not get bigger role, but one of the main and in the follow-up, she might get more opportunity. The film was almost perfect for a crime-thriller. Especially the characters make the finest film of its kind. An outstanding film, so recommended for those who seek entertainment fullest. 9/10

If I were Gavin O'Connor, I would get down on my knees everyday and thank the good Lord that He allowed me to make Warrior. For if it were not for Warrior, he would be one of the most bland and consistently average directors working in Hollywood today. His resume is also bolstered when viewed alongside that of Peter Berg or David Ayer. That said, The Accountant is just fine. It is a modern day action thriller that screams of O'Connor having finished a viewing of Nicolas Winding Refn's Drive and thought to himself, "What if the whole movie had the level of tension of the opening heist in that film and my autistic assassin actually talked a bit?" The end result is The Accountant, a film that passes the test and delivers good entertainment, but is hardly brilliant and is maligned by major problems. In essence, this is not a film requiring a forensic accountant. Anybody can plainly see the faults lying beneath the heart of this film. To the film's credit, however, it is incredibly thrilling. The action is modern and stylish. It is silent, precise, and well-choreographed. Ben Affleck's Christian Wolff is autistic and a savant when it comes to accounting and putting a bullet between a man's eyes. As a result, the kills are thrilling and simply cool. For action junkies or the general public that is merely looking for a good action thriller, The Accountant more than delivers. It is no surprise it has become a champion of the people and made a lot of money at the box office. For a bloody action thriller, it is palatable and easy to digest. It does not entertain a higher purpose beyond advocating for people with autism. It is smart, well-plotted, and delivers the goods when it comes to action and thrills. O'Connor may not be a good director, but he knows his way around an action sequence and shows it here. With constant one-liners and a distant hero that is against the system, comparisons to old school 1980s action movies are incredibly fair. Wolff goes about his business professionally and without fanfare. It is all a matter of fact. He is an easy killer to support because he kills bad men out for themselves, while seeking revenge for those they harm. In essence, he fights for the common man, real salt of the Earth people, and loves his family. The only thing separating him from the average American is he has autism and kills people with precision. Sadly, the film is maligned with odd transactions. To the film's debit, it is incredibly contrived. Introducing us to federal agent Medina (Cynthia Addai-Robinson), she is threatened with being thrown into jail for lying on her applicatio if she does not find the accountant's true identity within a month by boss Raymond King (J.K. Simmons). Throughout the film, we see her figure out information on Wolff, following mere plot coincidences and contrivances. The most egregious being when she is searching for men that fit her suspect's description and randomly selects a man who does not meet the description, looks into his business, and all the businesses in the same plaza. Slowly, she realizes it is her man: the accountant. How convenient. With no evidence pointing to that fact until the hand of God guides her down the right path, Medina find her man. But oh wait, she did not need to. King knew it all because he had been in contact with the accountant forever, tracked him before, and could seemingly care less who he is and what he does, in spite of pretending to care earlier in the film. It is as if O'Connor changed his mind halfway through and decided that King should work with Wolff, not against him. Ignoring how cliche that is, it is a convenient way to avoid conflict between the government and Wolff, which would make him a bad guy in the eyes of the same general public audience the film was trying to appeal to throughout. Sadly, the fact that the investigation by Medina was pointless, all of the treasury department scenes are useless. Neither King nor Medina add anything to the film beyond another character and supposed depth. In reality, it is bloat, highlighting how overlong this mindless action thriller truly is. The film punishes the audience further with useless melodrama and backstory on Christian. Used to show how good of a person he is and how important family is to him, the scenes honestly go nowhere. From his mother's funeral, training, and reuniting with his brother, the whole thing is so contrived and oddly manipulative. Once more, it contributes to the film's bloat, not adding depth. The scenes feel useless and exposition heavy for a film that demonstrates its willingness to use its typically silent protagonist as an exposition machine when the plot demands some explanation. Sadly, despite all the bloat, O'Connor never found a use for Dana Cummings (Anna Kendrick). Why get Anna Kendrick if all she is there for is to look good and say some bad lines that are going to be used in the trailer? She never even kisses Affleck in the film.

It's rare to see a movie succeed so fully because of it's main character. Ben Affleck's "Christian Wolff" serves as a pretty great portrait of how autistic people operate. Affleck himself gives such a great performance that viewers are able to sympathize and like Wolff almost immediately. The movie also handles itself well in it's depiction of spectrum disorders. It shows that those of us with them are not helpless or freaks. Just that their minds work differently. This gives the movie a warm and good-natured feel. It's also a solid thriller. One punctuated by good action scenes. The plot is a tad muddled early on. Things seem to be moving without any focus. We are introduced to quite a few characters, all with different angles. The movie is so slow with it's reveals that for a significant portion of it's running time we have no idea who most of these people are or why we are watching them. The eventual reveals are satisfying and do a great job of tying everything together. It's just up until that point things can be confusing and as a result a tad frustrating. Particularly where Wolff's backstory is concerned. The character interactions are the biggest highlight of the movie. Affleck's excellent portrayal and well-written character lead to memorable, often humorous, and occasionally touching moments with whoever is lucky enough to have screen-time with him. The most notable being his scenes with the seemingly always charming Anna Kendrick, who is just as likable as ever. There's a sweetness and genuine humor whenever these two are onscreen together that's just a treat. Wolff is front, center, and by far the best part of the movie. Affleck is fantastic and the depiction of autism is handled very well. Although it might not be best if every movie depicts their autistic characters as elite, methodical, and almost emotional killers. The movie manages to overcome it's plot missteps and proves to be a very enjoyable experience.

The story is poorly told and the twist at the end is ridiculous. I would much prefer to have my time back, as well as the $5 rental fee. Even if you are a fan of Ben Affleck or a fan of thrillers, give this a pass.

A well-acted and well-directed film that has great set up. The writing is kind of cliché, though, and the momentary editing is quite choppy. The structural editing is fine even though there is a ton of exposition in one scene of the movie.

The Accountant gets a 10 on story line alone. Great script. Deadpan acting by Affleck is a good portrayal of the main character, given his affliction, support roles are well done, and the movie keeps surprising you til the end. Really well done and worth every minute.

Just like the Bourne identity when it was first released, but this with a clever idea, this film is a classic, it's Ben afflecks best film, the action is brilliantly done, the script is top notch, and it's the best film I've seen this year. I won't spoil the story. Excellent film.

Most vigilante, hired gun, black ops and/or hero type movies are ok in my book. And this movie is no exception. Only thing is... its a bit convoluted . Meaning... whats his deal? Is he really a real-live accountant... or a hit man/vigilante type. Or a hit man that needs order as an accountant to remain sane? Oh well.. it was entertaining and great John Wick type action. You wont be disappointed

Awesome, awesome movie! Definitely one of Ben Afflecks best! I absolutely loved the story and found the ending to be utterly surprising and perfect! This really shows Bens maturity as an actor and how much he has grown. Every bit of the story was a delightful surprise due to the fact that I don't watch previews or trailers! Very well done! Awesome!

This movies story was original. It's about a high functioning man with autism, who through his psyops army trained father gains military skills. Along with his gift in math, he uses his martial skills to perform audit accounting jobs for various illicit enterprises. Ben Affleck does an excellent job of showing the quirks and difficulties of a man with autism. This movies pacing can be a bit slow in some parts, but makes up for it by developing the main character. The draw for me are the scenes where the main character takes decisive action, and his relationship with others. He is a sympathetic and likable character, and therefore a pleasure to watch. By the end, you really want Christian to succeed, get justice for others, and rout for his social development.

Such a groovy little flick, star performances from all involved, noir done right, more of this and less of all the other things please, if you've got the two hours this is a joy.

The Accountant kind of fumbles through many of its overarching intentions. It's a Bourne-level action film with some heart at its best, a bit of a ho-hum thriller at its worst. That being said, I don't think this is a waste of time for most people. The film tries to build out some elaborate plot that comes together toward the end but the "big reveal" ends up being so underwhelming that you might question whether there was supposed to be one in the first place. Unfortunately, that softer climax ends up making a lot of the fragment-style narrative that you'll spend 90 minutes diving into not as fun. All of the story angles told are relevant and in some ways important, you'll just wonder why the writers decided to bother with some of it (or, at the very least, bother spending as much time on those angles). I found myself enjoying The Accountant, it just wasn't quite the thriller it was billed to be.
