A sci-fi masterpiece. As with other sci-fi fare, it takes some time for the story to take off... but once it does, the magic doesn't stop. Thrills from start to finish. Spielberg at his usual best.

The image of a nearly bald Samantha Morton shouting “Run!” is just one reason Steven Spielberg’s Philip K. **** adaptation is still haunting. In this dystopia, crime is stopped before it happens thanks to the foresight of human “precogs” like Morton’s character. Tom Cruise is appropriately on edge as this falsely accused police officer, infusing a deep sadness into his actions as he draws closer to the center of a huge conspiracy. A gnawing agony powers Spielberg’s noir in which color has almost been drained from the world in so memorable and impossible to forget.

Another standout in Spielberg's filmography and a shining example of smart, socially aware science fiction that continues to resonate today.Minority Report is a thought-provoking and masterful film, with themes that remain strikingly relevant in today's world. In an age of mass surveillance and diminishing privacy-especially in a post-9/11 and post-COVID-19 society-the film's questions about free will, determinism, and the human condition hit harder than ever.Based on the short story by Philip K. ****, Minority Report moves beyond the androids and replicants of earlier **** adaptations like Blade Runner. Instead, it turns the lens inward, asking whether we are the criminals-whether guilt can exist before a crime is committed, and if our choices are ever truly our own. It explores the tension between personal agency and a system that claims to know our future.Spielberg skillfully blends high-concept sci-fi with noir and moral drama, creating something that feels like a fusion of Blade Runner and Total Recall. While the pacing may be slower than expected at times, the payoff is well worth it. The film doesn't just entertain-it lingers in your ****'s easy to see why Minority Report ranks at #19 on Empire's list of the 50 Best Sci-Fi Movies. It's another standout in Spielberg's filmography and a shining example of smart, socially aware science fiction that continues to resonate today.,Amazing Score from John Williams(AI: Artificial Intelligence ) and, Cinematography By Janusz Kaminski(Amistad) Direction from Steven Spielberg(Jurassic Park) Another standout in Spielberg's filmography and a shining example of smart, socially aware science fiction that continues to resonate today. 9/10.

Steven Spielberg tackles a customarily big-brained Philip K. **** concept, discarding most of the novella’s story beats while retaining its core premise and tricky moral dilemmas. Set half a century in the future, Spielberg’s forecast depicts an America that’s more advanced, more heavily reliant upon its technology, but still socially familiar. The key talking point is pre-crime, an ethically dubious predictive technique that’s been employed by law enforcement to completely eliminate homicide in Washington DC, but the stage is sprinkled with all manner of cute, interesting and downright prescient bits of dreamy theoretical hardware. Nobody bats a thousand with this stuff, and while PD jetpacks and nausea-inducing cattle prods haven’t yet entered the the market, the film’s anticipation of self-driving electric cars seems on track and its widespread use of draggable touch screen interfaces predate iOS by a full three years. So, as a practical forecast / demo reel for smart, life-enhancing tech, Minority Report is a real wonderland. As a narrative, it’s frequently hamstrung by jerky pacing, significant plot holes and long-winded exposition. When high profile pre-crime detective Tom Cruise is framed by his own system, he goes on the lam in search of answers. That quest carries him to the doorstep of the retired geneticist who developed the prognostic network, and there we’re subjected to an obscenely fast-paced crash course on the concept’s ins and outs. In that five minute sequence, I don’t think she pauses for more than half a breath, brain dumping a hefty pile of dry elaboration as if she were reciting from a technical manual. Were that the only example, I might have raised an eyebrow, shrugged and moved on. Instead, it’s the first of many such brake-screeching halts, convenient excuses to drone on about ideas that would have been better-served by practical examples. Man, does this film know how to belabor its points. When their course is cleared, Spielberg and Cruise can be trusted to deliver some stirring slices of action and suspense. A fiery fight scene in the guts of an automated assembly plant, for example. A modified elevator escape on the edge of a towering residential complex. Recovering from a painful eye transplant to avoid detection by the vast network of face scanners (another bit of prophecy that now seems uncomfortably precise), Cruise fights detection in a losing battle that keeps us teetering on the edge of our seats. It’s all proficiently done, leveraging a wealth of dazzling sci-fi concepts into a string of thoughtful, exciting blockbuster scenes. Another of Minority Report’s strengths is its distrust of reckless advancement; constant reminders that (to paraphrase another Spielberg hit) just because we can do something, doesn’t mean we should. The storyline hinges on this point, both in the projected infallibility of the pre-crime apparatus and in the misuse of the three drugged, unwillingly captive “precogs” that power the whole system. These points are the film’s lifeblood, but too often they’re overshadowed by an excessively twisty narrative and a weird tendency to spell everything out. I loved this in theaters, wowed by all the big ideas and gray morality. Revisiting it now, two decades later, I was more impressed by its window dressings than by its cinematic execution. The story has a lot of oomph, but the script is wordy and overwrought, the special effects have seams showing and the third act drags on forever. Still good, but no longer great, this one’s best remembered for its high-minded speculative work than its dramatic chops.

Disheveled, buzzcut Cruise is kind of bringing it in this mostly silly, inconsistent, and ugly film. I do think, eventually, the desaturated lighting becomes too much of a headache to watch.

Spielberg at his finest, the film is a riveting thrill-ride that has not aged at all (certain CG-elements withstanding). Gets you in the heart, the gut, and the mind. Incredible performances all around. Cinematography is stunning. Ultimately, no one can do world-building quite like Spielberg, who consistently shines as a true master of his craft.

The sci-fi drama Minority Report is unusual and thought-provoking. It raises some really intriguing issues regarding free will vs. fate. But in my opinion, Steven Spielberg made this movie a touch too gritty for viewers to actually enjoy it. And the uncomfortable moments detract a little bit from the imaginative plot and strong acting. I really enjoy this movie, but I wish I enjoyed it more.

Spielberg can be such a blessing and a curse at the same time for a movie. I feel like "Minority Report" succeeds despite his tendencies. I have a theory that Spielberg intentionally hires actors who give quirky performances in an attempt to make the movie memorable, but it just ends up being distracting to an otherwise really good movie. Also, ILM, totally blew it here. The backgrounds look incredible, but any time the movie focuses in an a CGI element, it looks so bad that it takes me out of the experience. I give it a B, next time you’re in the mood for a movie, this one won’t disappoint.

Like so many Hollywood movies, this movie pairs stunning visuals and awesome techniques with a mediocre, unconvincing story. In this case the insistent flash-bang-whiz helps to make up the deficit, as the viewer has no time to reflect on how bizarre and silly much of the story is. So watch and enjoy the spectacle, but don't worry too much about holes in the plot or cookie-cutter characters. A few barely functioning psychics float in a pool at police headquarters, and occasionally they get a vision of a murder about to take place, which results in a wooden ball rolling down a chute and into the hands of detective John Anderton, who quickly tries to locate and then shut down the crime before it can happen. John has issues of his own, such as drug use, the disappearance of his young son, and the subsequent collapse of his marriage. Then one day Anderton himself is fingered by the "pre-cogs" and he has to go on the lam and try to figure out who is out to get him and why. This leads to a few plot twists and an unconvincing wrap-up. But there are enough memorable moments - such as Anderton being followed by video ads in a shopping mall, a scientist and her amazing, moving plants, and mechanical spiders that invade an area on behalf of the police and identify people by shining a beam into their eyes - to make this an exciting ride.

Minority Report is something that we've never seen before from Spielberg's, fills with an exciting yet depressing Action Packed, with everybody's incredible performance, brilliant story, directed by a perfect man to do it, Steven Spielberg's himself, Minority Report is so far the craziest Spielberg's film i've ever watch.

Spielberg hasn't quite nailed it here in his attempt to make a sophisticated, cerebral sci-fi. Having Cruise in this lead role doesn't help, as it requires talents as an actor he's incapable of achieving.

A construção do universo é ok. Recomendado!

There is a lot to like and love here. Visual appeal is at its highest and finest with this film. Special effects are one of a kind and second to none. A gripping story that goes for an absolute thrill ride. I can't put it down anytime I decide to watch it. It's an action-packed, crime mystery with twists and turns all the way through. I love the way it looks on the screen with all its technical glory. Tom Cruise shines as the Detective who won't be beat. Prepare for a futuristic eye scan

One of the best films of 2002, with moral issues and a good story behind it. What would happen if we could predict a crime with details and certainty before this same crime actually happened? This is the basic premise of this film, set in 2054, where a system was set up (Washington D.C. only) called "Pre-Crime" that allows the authorities to take precautionary action by arresting criminals in the act before committing the act. However, the entire system relies on three people with a knack for seeing crimes that have not yet happened, and which are held virtually captive and asleep, called "Pre-Cogs." However, doubts arise when Pre-Crime Division Chief John Anderton is spotted by the pre-cogs while committing a future assassination. Anderton will therefore try to understand how everything will happen and ensure that it does not happen. Directed by Steven Spielberg, the film is very well done. Set in the near future, there is much of the Orwellian universe here: people who are identified by the retina anywhere, as if a "big brother" watched over everything and everyone, a strong and controlling authority ... the movie, at this point, reminds a lot the works of this writer, famous for the pessimistic way in which he faced the future of humanity. The scene of the invasion of the condominium by the police spiders, in order to identify everything and everyone, is one of the moments that most reveals the controlling nature of the authorities, as if the ends justified all means, including the invasion of privacy and the home of each person. Of course, the weaknesses of the Pre-Crime system are exposed by the film and this raises complex moral and ethical questions. There is some poetic justice here, as it is someone in the system who tries to undermine the system to save itself. However, from a certain point in the movie, everything becomes increasingly clear and predictable, moving towards an ending that may, in fact, leave us wanting something more. Tom Cruise is an actor I don't particularly like, but I must admit that with this movie he got one of the best performances of his career so far. John Anderton is a good character, and Cruise was able to gradually destroy the character's confidence convincingly. The way he worked and brought to life the main character is one of the pillars that underpins the entire film, although he collaborates well with other good actors such as Max von Sydow and Colin Farrell. They never match Cruise, just giving you the support you need. On a technical level, and being a futuristic sci-fi movie, we should highlight the positive visual, special and CGI effects that Spielberg (who already has school at this point) has secured for the film. It was a job well done. Only those cars and airways didn't convince me, looking like something out of the Jetsons universe. Other than that, the focus is on realistic holograms, advanced computing, recreational 3D, robotics, etc. everything seems to be in line with the way humanity is developing. It is undoubtedly a good movie, one of the best in that distant year of 2002, and it still has room on the shelves and movie channels of our day.

Hence, Minority Report feels like the first headline you read in the morning newspaper. It's a good feeling. Minority Report Spielberg felt in a rush, to me. Maybe he was following Cruise. It is not the first time one of his films has been a victim of this phenomenon and it won't be the last if it will be dealt like this. The director Steven Spielberg occasionally does dip into the entertainment pool to expand his filmography. And as always we have left the screen satisfied and amazed at the spectacle that he puts enormous effort into. Those details pay off just like it does here. And while I am satisfied with the product, never for a second it convinced me that this is coming straight from Spielberg's vision. Don't get me wrong, there are few details added in the film regarding the futuristic materially rich world and the style and efficiency it comes with. But something doesn't add up. While the ambition is big, the reasoning felt short to me. For instance, I can understand the incompetence of the film to fully craft a nail biting chase sequence involving jet packs. But what I had issues with are cereal boxes that are animated. Sort of like, from the magical world of JK Rowling. These pictures animate and they endorse themselves perfectly. Just like the film does of Spielberg's sci-fi workshop. The emotional storage is empty, this time. In that sequence itself, Tom Cruise mourning over his son and the memories that he revisits feels misplaced and poorly choreographed. Yes, it could be argued that he is a stress eater and what not. But it then, doesn't communicate with us properly like it should have. The film in such ways repeatedly undermines what could have been heavy emotional moments. What we are left with is a highly paced entertaining action packed thriller which keeps changing the priorities and the headlines.

The reason I am giving 9/10 is because this movie is one of the best futuristic-type of movies that make you feel like it could happen one day (at least some aspects of it such as AI predicting people's actions (and murders) from behaviour of people). Movie also predicts some technology that is real today such as MR (mixed reality), Facetime and retina recognition. Mind you this movie is from 2002 but created way before that. Tom Cruise is amazing and all actors do good job overall. Steven Spielberg does great job with amazing camera shots and angles. Movie isn't perfect but pacing is very well done compared to movie length, which is a lot. Plot twists are real good but some things are not handled well (such as a character death) and some movie-lore-related paradoxes. Movie tries to handle them somehow but once you think deeper, it stops making sense. Overall, amazing movie. Cyberpunk (blade runner) vibes!

Extremely good! Very interesting sci-fi ideas with lots of action. The story is well-written and well paced. Also apart from the "seeing into the future thing" it's not a ridiculously non-realistic vision of the 2050s.

The whole movie contradicts itself constantly. It might have been a theme that the facts about the trio of pre-crime humans was falsified because of government being all government, but it wasn't conveyed well at all. At the beginning they say that only murder can be seen into the future, but then they have an advertisement saying that it could prevent other things like ****, and from then on they act as though the ad was true, but then at the end they say only murder can be detected again because it fits the movie's agenda. #Inconsistent

What a shame! Minority Report starts out with a cool premise, but it doesn't know how to explore its philosophy and ideas. The movie ends up turning into a kind of peculiar, non-sensical utopia with product placement and strange plot lines. Some of the movie is just so random it doesn't make an impact. Cruise, Farrell and von Sidow are fine as the leads, but they're trapped in a movie that Mr. Spielberg could've done much more with.

Overall, I definitely enjoyed this one. Tom Cruise does very well in this role and I also really enjoyed Colin Farrell here. The look and feel of the film is also really well done and the second half of the film is fantastic. In addition, the special effects are well done and the story, though slow forming, is very well put together and engrossing. However, on the negative side, the first half is iffy for me. As we are introduced to this futuristic world with no murders, the explanations and presentation of everything is spotty at best, leaving the viewer a tad confused and, at times, bored. However, once you finally wrap your head around everything, the film really takes off. I never really thought the "action" sequences were phenomenal, but otherwise, everything really began to click and the film had a very exciting and tense conclusion.

This has always been one of my favorite films. Coming right on the heels of A.I., it continues the blend of science fiction and a beautiful yet sad future, and it does it with a Blade Runner twist or two that loads it with action and testosterone. It's a good fit 10 years after it was made in today's sci-fi storylines and it gives you a lot to see and think about. Pay attention to as many details as you can, keep the popcorn handy, and be prepared to enjoy this amazing take on crime, love, and predestination. The first ten minutes tell you what to expect; the last ten minutes prove you were wrong. Wow! Cruise has never been better and Spielberg does it again. See it.
