The Martian7
Oct 4, 2015
If you see the theme behind it, it follows the exact same base as "Gravity": someone lost in space... alone. It gets to be something repetitive, and it is not an Oscar winning movie such as they way in which, in my opinion, its predecessor did, but the thing that makes this movie unique is its originality. It reaches a whole new different level of feeling through the action of survival, and even though there some mistakes if looked through the point of science, the drama and intricate emotion behind each situation transforms it, in maybe not an unforgettable film, but one of the best space films from the last years.

The Face of an Angel5

Melanie represents the unique fun that is left inside the life of a ruined director who tries to restructure his career through the filming of a renown murder case, but the problem is that he is already profoundly deep inside a hole from which he is not able to escape: incoherence. It is a reflection of the film, and such as in the story, Delevingne's character gets to be the only enjoyable role that avoids the film falling even deeper into that metaphoric hole.

Inside Llewyn Davis7
Jul 31, 2015
The movie is not bad. It is all about Isaac's recreation of a single folk artist who wants to start again a successful career. The problem is that the singer is "stuck", same as the movie at some point. It is a vicious circle; and for me, limits its potential for what could be a great film.

We Are What We Are5

It is not at the level of poetry and it never will, but in this case there is a poesy by Philip Larkin called "This Be The Verse" that explains it perfectly: They **** you up, your mum and dad. They may not mean to, but they do. They fill you with the faults they had And add some extra, just for you.

The Babadook8
Jul 28, 2015
It innovates what public understands as horror movies. It encourages a new kind of cinema that lies its roots in horror aspects. Here, Kent provides a film that, as I understood it, gives a significance to the pain and difficulties that exist across human life; but, in this case, with a major focus and impact over the life of a single mother who already fought enough for the well-being of her son. "The Babadook" becomes the representation of that pain and struggle that she has to face in order to protect her son (but not the dog), who was raised up without a father. What makes the film unique is not related to the horror part, but that through suspense it creates a message that gives significance to one of the many aspects of life (in this case for women): motherhood.

Still Alice8
Jul 28, 2015
We all deteriorate one way or another. What we call "normal people" do it through age; we get older. Others do it by injuries [emotional or physical] but one of the most painful ones is through disease. Alzheimer is one of them, and what Julianne Moore teaches us here is the recreation of an almost-real, but definitely sharp, strong and emotional representation of what it is about.

Let Me In9
Jul 25, 2015
Let Me In presents us a mature and elaborated relationship where both of the actors (and characters) that are involved in it go up to scratch on their performance. It is worth the 9, and Moretz does not stands back when acting as an "evil", but at last cute and lovely vampire.

Ex Machina9
Jul 23, 2015
We [as human beings] seek for AI, and during the next decades it will become a matter of who develops it first. But our biggest fear, but it can also become a reality, is for it to overpass us; to overpass human race. That's what the movie reflects perfectly, and it is worth a 9. That fact is something that has not happened, and it is possible for it to never happen. We have the control; it is just a matter of time.

The Fault in Our Stars8
Jul 23, 2015
Inhibited by both of their illnesses, they manage to create a solid and entertaining relationship that stands from the beginning of the film. "You don't get to choose if you get hurt in this world but you do have a say in who hurts you... And I like my choices": what you learn is the possibility of having someone at your side no matter what, and it is obviously cliché, but that is how relationships work and develop. There will be always the hope of finding the right person. At last, it was okay... Okay.

It Follows7
Jul 17, 2015
It Follows doesn't work as the formal horror movie that will take viewers to scare constantly and jumps out of their seats, but the film as a whole creates a suspense slow-development essence that works perfectly as its foundation. The interesting thing is that it all gets constructed around "It".

A Girl Walks Home Alone at Night7
Jul 16, 2015
In terms of aesthetic and artistic elements, the movie works perfectly and endorses a really unique environment. In terms of behavior, "The Girl" acts as the best vampire I have ever seen on screen. The film is worth it.

A Pigeon Sat on a Branch Reflecting on Existence4
Jul 15, 2015
Different. Funny in a certain level; not the events that occur inside it but the movie itself. It is definitely not for all the public but at least is worth a try because of what it tries to represent: human nature, by focusing on the behavior and how melancholically each subject interacts with the humans around him/her. I repeat, it is not a movie for everyone; it is just dry.

Inside Out8
Jul 13, 2015
It resembles what Pixar is about and what Disney is about. This one particularly refers to emotions and feelings, and it integrates them in a children's movie with original characters that were never seen before in animated movies. The importance of the film lies on yourself, the way of how you construct yourself emotionally through a personality that identifies you; if you know who you are then you know who do you want to be, and there is always going to be a family in there to support you. It's all about the message, and in this case, it present a really valuable teaching for the kids that watch it.

Drag Me to Hell3
Jul 13, 2015
You can always try to overthink stuff, and in this case, a movie. Then, the real problem lies on why do critics think this as a horror movie deserves an 83. Sometimes I think about it and I kind of understand the reason, because the majority of them say it is funny, or comedic, or hilarious, etc... And yes! It gets to be funny, but I just don't see it as a "Thriller, Horror" film worth 83 over 100. I just don't get it.

Insidious: Chapter 34
Jul 13, 2015
"The man who can't breathe" gets to be the only enjoyable character from the hole film and the "trama" that surrounds him; the rest tends to remain as mediocre enough for a Chapter 4 that would only exist if the franchise wants to apologize to the public. *Actually, if you think about it, it can also become a "suspense"-comedic movie.

Whiplash8
Apr 5, 2015
Great movie that at last gives a simple, but clear message: If you truly and deeply love something, you have to fight for it; so is music, so is the world.
Apr 5, 2015
The LEGO Movie8
Apr 5, 2015
It's LEGO itself: it shows vivid and creatively the meaning of it for both adults and children; it is a little overrated but the 8 goes for the great representation and meaning of the brand LEGO it offers. Great movie.

The Call6
Mar 27, 2015
6 heading to 5 just because of one thing: the ending. This movie, at least for me, its worth 7 or 8, but the ending, the useless, nonsense ending, almost destroys all the work and, lets call "progress", that was built before it. Why didn't they just finished the traditional way where they escape and call for help? I don't know; but sometimes you just have accept it the way it is: **** happens.

You're watching a life develop inside of that screen and everything it carries and accompanies along its development is what you get to learn from it.

Annabelle5
Oct 4, 2014
It has its moments, but when you get to compare it with The Conjuring, its just the same regular horror movie with a "ruins everything" ending, regardless it is cute; but that is something that the movie shouldn't do, it has to be "supposedly" scary. Go and see it under your own responsibility.

Dawn of the Planet of the Apes7
Aug 10, 2014
In an alternative way of life for humans, inside a movie that is entertaining and neat, the Ape's society show the deficiencies of human kind and the consequences they include.

Transformers: Age Of Extinction4
Aug 10, 2014
It is interesting and shows a nice plot but when watching the movie it comes to something as simple as this; You can sleep during one hour of the movie and when you wake up, it'll be in the exact same scene: vileness and useless violence.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier7
Apr 19, 2014
Entertaining film such as other Marvel movies. It shows a great plot with interesting action scenes and great special effects, but at last it just shows a new fraction of Captain America's story with not really memorable situations.

It becomes a matter of feelings, emotions, thoughts and real situations that create an actual life experience; and I think this movie does that pretty well.
Apr 12, 2014
The Hunger Games7
Apr 12, 2014
Nice film. It makes a nice discourse based on the book's message with an awesome performance from Jennifer Lawrence and a direction and production that worth it.
Apr 12, 2014
The Hunger Games: Catching Fire7
Apr 12, 2014
A young-adult franchise movie that reflects concretely the message from the book with an almost prefect performance from Jennifer Lawrence as Katniss Everdeen.
Apr 12, 2014
Divergent7
Apr 12, 2014
Another young-adult franchise with a really interesting discourse based on the film, creating an entertaining movie to watch. The performances are mostly nice, but the majority of the time they become inefficient to represent the real story and characters that the book wants to transmit. However, its a nice movie at the end, with several social and political messages that are expressed all over the film.

300: Rise of an Empire6
Mar 17, 2014
Interesting movie. It just shows what 300 is all about in a movie with non-significant mistakes in the development, showing a nice background and a story with some problems at the moment of showing the meanness gore during the majority of the movie with unnecessary slow motion and fake blood effects, but at last its saved by Eva Green's performance, with a deep and complete character that is enjoyable to watch.
Mar 12, 2014
Evil Dead5
Mar 12, 2014
Good movie to pass the time. It is scary in some aspects but the high inclusion of blood and masochist situations gives the movie a lack of approach to suspense and therefore, the aspects that people want to see in a real horror movie, but at last, it is entertaining and funny in certain way, regardless it is a thriller/horror film.
Mar 12, 2014
American Hustle9
Mar 12, 2014
Great Movie, amazing direction and production. Great performances, most notably from Jennifer Lawrence and Christian Bale. Sometimes it gets slow and boring but at last it leads to an incredible plot and an unexpected end. Highly recommended.
Mar 12, 2014
The Conjuring6
Mar 12, 2014
It is a nice movie with a great theme and background work. It is terrifying in several aspects, including the fact that it is based on a true story, but I believed it would have ended with a more interesting and surprising situation. However, its a nice movie.

Frozen9
Jan 9, 2014
Lovely, funny and solid. Includes animation and songs that combined make this movie one of the greatest in animation. Personally, I really appreciated Elsa's paper during the film. It just shows what Disney is all about.

Oz the Great and Powerful2
Dec 16, 2013
At the beginning normal, then slow and boring and at the end poisonous, there's nothing good to say about this movie besides its good for kids to watch, but as a movie, it is just a film that takes away time of your life. I thought it would be a better representation of the meaning of "Oz, the great and powerful", as its title says. Hopefully, there are other millions of films in the world.
Dec 16, 2013
The Beaver5
Dec 16, 2013
Normal movie. Its interesting besides sometimes it gets confusing, weird and unclear, but at the end it leaves a nice message to the viewer. As always, I really liked Jennifer Lawrence's performance.
Dec 16, 2013
X-Men: First Class7
Dec 16, 2013
Surprising movie, I thought it would be worst. It gives a fresh start to the X-men zaga. The majority of the performances were great and created an interesting, but sometimes unclear movie.
Dec 16, 2013
Winter's Bone8
Dec 16, 2013
Great movie with a gentle and liable development. It has a labored background that makes it interesting and complete in all aspects. It is necessary to highlight Jennifer Lawrence's performance as a brilliant one.
Dec 15, 2013
House at the End of the Street4
Dec 15, 2013
It's a good movie with a nice background talking about production, and I consider Jennifer Lawrence's performance is great. However, it is "supposed" to be a horror movie and the film is principally focused on a teenager's relationship instead of scary and suspense aspects, fact that lowers movie's rating notably and creates a film unsure about its general genre.
Dec 7, 2013
Like Crazy6
Dec 7, 2013
It is a cute movie. Felicity Jones and Anton Yelchin create an interesting couple in a lovely movie that starts to get slow and predictable some times, but the complementation with Jennifer Lawrence as Samantha reborn the film to a more accurate and neat one.

Silver Linings Playbook10
Dec 7, 2013
It is a really interesting movie. It makes you to be attached to the screen from the first minute. I really appreciated Jennifer Lawrence's performance, her character's emotional changes were sensational during the film.
