The film forges ahead, in vivid 3-D, with such energy, expertise and thunderous conviction that you readily accept its basic premise — the pell-mell emergence of great intelligence, plus moral awareness, in primitive bodies — and find yourself exactly where the filmmakers want you to be, swinging giddily between sympathy for the apes and the humans in what threatens to become all-out war.

“Dawn” is more than a bunch of occasionally thrilling action sequences, emotional gut punches and throwaway jokes arranged in predictable sequence. It is technically impressive and viscerally exciting, for sure, but it also gives you a lot to think, and even to care, about.

"Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" (2014) is a hands down one of the best sequels ever made. This movie has everything to keep you entertained for 2 hours from start till finish. Good acting, superb storyline, great settings, amazing special effects - it's all there and it all clicks. I was a huge fan of "Rise of the Planet of the Apes", and "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" was perfect follow up, it's bigger and better in every possible way. The best moments in this movie are the one without action actually, it's when apes (especially Caesar) and people starts to communicate. And for Andy Serkis, give this man an Oscar for god sake, we all know he deserves it.Overall, if you still haven't see "Dawn of the Planet of the Apes" then do yourself a favor and see it ASAP, if you liked the first one, this one will blow you away.

What’s striking about this new film is that it lays out the message-mongering in such a way that you can enjoy the movie equally well on a purely action level.

Eschewing a tidy wrap-up, Reeves doesn't leave us feeling manipulated, as so often happens in films like this. Instead, we want to know where the story goes from here, and that's no small accomplishment.

Any film that begins with one of those fake-news montages, where snippets of genuine CNN footage are stitched together to concoct a feeling of semi-urgency around its hackneyed apocalypse, already sucks even before it gets started.

Its one of the best movies ever made. The apes are terrifying and badass, and the humans are... well at least Gary Oldman was really good.

Another action Planet of the Apes movie, that means low story, boring characters and movie for the mainstream with a lot of logic mistakes. The Characters are so one sided, and behave so dumb, that it was even ridiculous. Only the beginning is very interesting, but the 2nd half is so disappointing, that I was asking myself, when does it end?

I cannot believe this got so well noted. The movie is a compilation of the genre's cliches: the **** that behaves like an **** because he is an **** I mean come on, shooting the ape, then hiding the shotgun+almost kicking baby ape. This is poorly written, instead of trying to find a believable story where apes/humans actually try to trust each other but fail, let's just create an **** character that behaves with no logic at all. I had to stop mid movie because the ropes were too big. It felt like a 1995 movie, where you can tell what's going to happen 20 minutes before it does. Not fun, boring, uncreative. This movie is a shame for its writters.
