A solid rail shooter game which holds up to this day. However the price does't match with the scope of the title. As a new comer to the genre, I was impressed by the unliniar nature of the story campaign. It took me 4 playthoughs, 7 hours in total, to see all the missions, scenes and alternative routes. That what makes this game so special to deserve a 7/10 rating for me. What I like is shooting, visuals and cinematic feel. But I don't like that it's so short and limited.

I was pretty skeptical about this game at first, because I would have prefered a brand new game instead of a remake, but as soon as the cinematic of the first main mission launched, with its music, it was an instant chills of pure nostalgia. Can we really ask for more?

Wow! As a fan of the Starfox series who grew up on Starfox64, I'm thoroughly impressed with what Velan studios accomplished with this remake. In the month that it has been out, I have played this version of Starfox more than any other to date. This game screams repayability, from the many different paths and alternate routes throughout the campaign, to the challenge mode, and addictive multi-player battle mode. Starfox for the Switch 2 is a top game for the system and easily one of the best looking/feeling Nintendo has to offer. Highly recommend giving this arcade style rail shooter a try!

How could they not add more new levels? Looks nice and sounds good, but - After one playthrough of each level, you get max. 3 hours of gameplay for 50/60$. Audacious! Replaying the same short levels over and over and trying to get all the achievements gets boring and repetitive fast and exclusive for players with OCD. Even the multiplayer/online mode is half-baked. It is indeed 2026. How could Nintendo have such a low bar for such a beloved classic? I really wished they would finally make something new and fresh with the franchise... It's looking grim for the Ocarina of Time remake, if this is their standart.

6- Good My thoughts on Star Fox 64 are already written out on that review and all translate over, so I’ll quickly jot my thoughts on things unique to this remake. The character designs are all good except for Falco, and there is a small problem where their bipedal animal legs don’t look good in motion so they go out of their way to cut them out of frame when characters move. All the new voicing and writing is great. The levels all hold up well, though between all the challenges and badges to get they milk these 15 levels for ALL their worth. Unfortunately they did not expand the scope or depth at all from 64. That’s why this game reviews identically even though it plays slightly better and is technically superior. 64 was very simple and there’s no reason they couldn’t have added new character interactions, routes to take, hidden secrets, etc. Fun surprises for 64 vets. And this was a problem in 64 but I don’t think I wrote it anywhere, I do not like the button mashing needed for rapid laser fire. Hurts the hand and should be done away with.

A wonderful game if you like rail shooters, arcade games, the star fox franchise or are looking for a game to play a few quick rounds, then come back to it later. The graphics are absolutely stunning for an early-life Switch 2 title, the orchestrated soundtrack is amazing and the voice acting is by far not as bad as some people make you think. Yes, it's inferior to the original, but that's a very high bar. A decent multiplayer mode and new challenges that, especially the expert ones, can be pretty tough add replayability and push the time to complete around the 40 hours mark. Pro: + Graphics + Soundtrack + Gameplay + Actually new playable content + Fun new gimmicks and lore Cons: - Voice acting of the original was better, with exceptions (e.g. Rob64 is better here) - It's Star Fox, if you played one of the originals, you know all the content except the new challenges by heart - Multiplayer mode has the usual Nintendo limitations - No cute fox on foot mode

A fantastic game that harkens back to the good old days of arcades. A playthrough doesn't take long; there's no time-wasting nonsense—just a game that aims to be fun rather than simply keep you occupied.

If instead of Star Fox this game were called 'The Fox and His Friends,' people would take to the streets with torches because of its price for how short it is, and I didn't think it was anything special either. Oh well.

I hate having to give this game a bad review. It looks amazing and the gameplay principle is great... But the fact that they sell a 2h long game at full price is a joke. The game can't be labeled as anything but bad. I had high hopes for it and was utterly disapointed

My first experience with Star Fox was as a kid, playing the SNES version. I did not enjoy it very much, so that ended up being both my first and last encounter with the series for a long time. With this remake, however, I can honestly say that it is a great game, even though it is far too short. There is some replay value thanks to the different routes and endings, and the inclusion of an online mode is a nice **** main issue is the lack of depth and content. It works well as a short game to play in between larger titles, but it does not offer enough to feel truly substantial. The additional story cutscenes and more cinematic presentation were welcome improvements, and I personally enjoyed them a lot, but unfortunately, they are not enough to make up for the limited amount of content. For me, it is around a 7.5 to 8.0 out of 10. What the game lacks in content, it makes up for with strong quality, polished gameplay, and overall playability.

Star Fox is a faithful remake, but at the end of the day, it’s just Star Fox. It’s fun for a bit, then it will probably sit on the shelf for a long time. I think a remake of an F-Zero game would have been a better choice.

Obviously, the visuals are an upgrade over Star Fox 64. Controls are very smooth and responsive. The cutscenes add more to the story and the characters. I'm hoping this sets the stage for a new series of Star Fox games, because (no spoilers) but the game definitely leaves itself open to there being some new adventures for the team. I can remember playing the original Star Fox back when walmart was doing an in-store contest and promotion, so I'm happy to see that Nintendo hasn't forgotten about it. Hopefully there's more to come.

If you are looking for a 1 for 1 Starfox 64 remake, you just hit the jackpot, its phenomenal. It's fun, controls like butter, offers a good challenge and is probably the best looking game on Switch 2 as of right now. However, I'm a bit disappointed that we didn't get ANY new content. If we would've gotten 1 or 2 new levels, I would've rated this a 9 or 10... cmon Nintendo!

What an incredible job by Velan Studios! They somehow brought the iconic Star Fox team back through a wormhole, perfectly capturing the magic the series had on the Nintendo 64. The game still delivers that fast-paced arcade feeling while elevating every mission with cinematic moments that make the adventure even more epic and emotional. Veteran fans will get an incredible nostalgia boost and will enjoy the challenge of collecting every medal and completing all Expert challenges across every level. At the same time, the door is also wide open for newcomers who want to discover Fox McCloud outside The Super Mario Galaxy Movie. Can't let you not play this game! I truly hope Nintendo keeps bringing back more of its classic gems with today's technology. Maybe F-Zero is next?

This game is so close to being perfect but I just wish they added another map or two to multiplayer. It’s a lot of fun, but playing the same 3 maps over and over kinda gets stale. The single player campaign is as fun as I remembered from the N64, and the cutscenes expand these characters a bit, but I do wish there was a tad more? Maybe from Star Wolf’s point of view? Overall, a fantastic experience with so much replayability. Challenge modes are fun, too!

For me it’s an 8. It’s great, it’s Star Fox on switch 2 and the graphical touch ups are awesome. Worth playing it, but to be totally honest with this review my nostalgia and joy in playing this game was higher when I was a kid playing star fox 64. Nice to return to it though but it just doesn’t have the same spark it had when I was a kid playing it. I guess the gameplay shows it was made back in the day. Still was worth visiting and I enjoyed my time with the remake.

(8.7/10) This is just about the best a Star Fox 64 remake could be. The graphics, orchestration, aesthetic (albeit a bit of uncanny valley on Falco and Fox), and UI are all crisp and engaging. The controls are the same, but the responsiveness is a bit more organic, so there is additional fluidity in maneuvering an Arwing, Landmaster, or Blue-Marine. The score, in particular, gets the emphasis it deserves with a full complement of re-recorded instruments. The narrative is more immersive because of the mid-mission cutscenes, which help contextualize the choices you make in veering from one planet to another as well as making the banter more integrated into the ongoing camaraderie. I don't think the voice acting is superb, but nevertheless good enough that you get a reasonable feel for the characters. I think they lost a bit of Falco's begrudging respect for Fox and made him more of a flat out jerk. This really does feel like a full-blown space opera, where the stakes are salient and the political tensions are palpable; when I played the Nintendo 64 predecessor, I didn't really have a sense of that urgency. With the remake, you do get the sense that the Lylat System is actually on the brink and the balance of power is on the line--where Star Fox just might be able to eek out a win. The new prologue adds a lot of narrative momentum, and helps introduce you to the convincing cinematic production value. The already great Koji Kondo and Hajime Hirasawa music is to this game what John Williams was to Star Wars, and goes extremely hard in its remastered high fidelity. The levels look like actual places and the paths into them are plausibly emergent as opposed to an arbitrary artifice for the sake of a video game. By modern standards, the game is way too short--while it has very good replayability due to branching paths and succinct objectives, the game can be beaten wholesale in a few hours and the challenges are mainly for enthusiasts. The multiplayer is a nice diversion I can see a bunch of people keeping up with, though it is relatively limited in scale and may become repetitive. I like that Nintendo went with the lower end of variable pricing here and the price lends itself to an easy win for a largely mismanaged franchise. The biggest weakness of the game is that it effectively adds nothing other than optimization. Nevertheless, I think it is an excellent foundation for what will hopefully turn into a more ambitious and expansive original sequel down the road in the campaign and the multiplayer. There's so much potential for epic boss battles, co-op, and fragile alliances in remote sectors of the galaxy with unforeseen enemies and iniquitous conspiracies. If you were a fan of Star Fox 64, this is a no-brainer. If you're new to Fox through the Super Mario Galaxy Movie, this is easily worth checking out. If you're into rail shooters, this is one of the best (even though it is relatively simple and obviously abbreviated). If you're looking for a fully-featured 2026 experience, this is not even attempting to offer that kind of value. Ultimately, this is a really good sign for future remakes, like Ocarina of Time, though I hope they are a little less conservative with the scope of the latter.

Pros: Graphics look great. Gameplay is mostly the same with slight button layout, which makes somersault and u turns easier than on a 64 controller. Multi-player surprisingly is fun online. The new cutscenes in between levels are mostly good and give more chacter in story. Cons: The character design to me is very ugly and uncanny. This goes for enemy looks too, probably the worst redesign is one of the lizard generals who looks like a abomination in area 6. Falco looks the worst out of the main characters, I don't know if it's the uncanny human eyeballs or his head is too small it's just unsettling for me. Katt is also butchered in this new hyper realistic mode, where she somehow looks like she smokes. I think if they went for a more cartoon style, and or added like frog eyes to sloppy they could make this style work. It just doesn't work for me compared to the original. Probably the worst thing overall is the voice acting. Compared to 64 the voice acting is far worse. Two examples is the shogun general and the train general. The shogun general in the remake is completely changed, probably to make it more kid friendly. Where when you defeat him he just says "that was a honorable defeat" and awkwardly explodes like it was inconvenient. Then the train general in the original would panic if you hit all the locks and yell "stop! Hit the brakes! I can't stop it aghhh!", because he literally about to crash and explode. In the new one he also just awkwardly yells "stop. Hit the brakes.", he doesn't yell or act panic and he awkwardly explodes too. Those two and many other enemy units just sound rushed or unfinished, because most don't sound scared or taughting. They all sound almost bored. Other side chacters like bill and Katt have completely different style of talking. Bill and Katt almost sounds generic, like if you played their voice compared to most the other cast you probably wouldn't know who it was. The main cast I think did well however. This game doesn't add much compared to 64. So it left me wishing there was more new content added. Like more planets or routes. Or even fights with star wolf. And I wish they added content that was added to star fox zero with a more accessible control scheme. One small con I have is the enemies do not flash red now when they are damaged. Which if your brand new to the game might be hard to know if your hitting the weak points. Overall: I think the game graphics and environment are very good. I liked most of the cutscenes they added, although some millennial humor is in some, overall I liked seeing the outcomes and the differenent paths. Multi-player isn't something I like or play often, but my time with star fox online mode was fun. However, the design of most characters and their voice acting ruin most scenes. Lack of new content also makes it hard to recommend it at its current price tag. Tldr: if you love star fox 64, you probably will like this too. I don't think it's superior, but makes it a worthy entry.

Yes, this game is incredibly short clocking in and around 2 to 3 hours, but the game is meant to be played over a long period of time. Basically once you beat the first mission you get to pick and choose which direction you want to take and some areas will offer you different paths and options making replayability the whole reason to buy the game just like the original Starfox 64, most of the meat and potatoes of the game are in the cut scenes and each time you complete a certain level you see a different cut scene a different video place to show how your actions and choices affect the games story This is the reason I’m giving the game a 9/10

The Star Fox remake has turned out exactly as many fans expected: a technically modern update of a nearly timeless Nintendo classic. The graphics, sound, and presentation have been sensibly modernized without altering the original's character. The flight mechanics remain impressive—even nearly 30 years after the initial release—and continue to be one of the game's greatest strengths. Yet, a lingering reservation remains. In terms of gameplay, the remake offers few genuine innovations. The campaign is still very short, the story has been told multiple times before, and owners of the Nintendo 64 or 3DS versions will rarely encounter any real surprises. While the new multiplayer modes provide added incentive, they cannot fully mask the game's overall conservative approach. For newcomers, the Star Fox remake is a superbly playable arcade shooter with high replay value and polished presentation. Veterans get the best version of the classic to date—though they should carefully consider whether the technical improvements and new modes justify the full price.

This game is the remaster that we've deserved after 30 years and multiple prior "remakes" that really did not push the envelope from the original. Fully redesigned visuals, voice acting, and music creates an atmosphere that the N64 version could only have dreamed of. The added cutscenes and logs add a ton of story and background, which again, was mostly left to the imagination in the earlier iterations. Not only that, but the added challenge mode and multiplayer battle modes add entirely new elements to the game, including a ton of unlockable player banners, icons, and avatars to use with a camera during co-op or multiplayer. The addition of alternate camera and control modes should not be overlooked either. They really filled in all of the gaps around the core gameplay of the original, which was virtually untouched. And for only $50, this is a fair price and an awesome way to experience the masterpiece either for the first time, or in a glorious new light. Yes, the game itself is very short, but the replay value and additional content makes up for it.

Its perfect. Levels are now visually distinct. Vertical and horizontal draw distance increased so much making it feel more open world. Graphics are stunning. Character design just work. Cutscenes flesh out the universe and make sense of the path branching. Music is unbelievable. Multiplayer is top tier and has potential to become a staple if nintendo supports it.

starfox to taki shmup bez jakiejkolwiek energii arcade bez klimatu retro i wydmuszka sci-fi.

Short but still awesome! Also a missed opportunity, especially the multiplayer with the lack of 4 player split-screen. The expert mode could have been way harder, with higher lifebars of the bosses for example. But still: Starfox is a blast to play!

This game is practically 100% faithful to Star Fox 64, featuring almost identical mechanics and movements, and cinematic graphics, my goodness, what a great game. The only downside is the character models, which are *so* realistic they look like actual talking animals in real live. Even so, it’s one of Nintendo's best remakes!.

Nintendo, for the love of Iwata, PLEASE bring back Krystal! It's been 20 years of not having her in a non-Smash game, which is ridiculous. We either need an Adventures remake or a post-Assault story, even more now than before we got this completely unnecessary FIFTH Lylat Wars telling.

Star Fox is exactly what it says on the box. This is Star Fox....Again. In particular this is yet another remake of Star Fox 64, one of the best on rails shooters of all time. It's the 2nd remake, officially, by Nintendo, and possibly the 5th remake/remaster of the Star Fox franchise since it the original came out. For this one, it's still a 1:1 remake of the original Star Fox 64. There's no differences in terms of gameplay between flying, fighting, level design, and how to unlock harder levels and get higher scores. This game comes down to the upgraded visuals and presentation. As far as environments, this is the best looking Nintendo game I've seen on the Switch 2 so far. It's frankly beautiful and I never noticed any drops in FPS or graphical glitches throughout my various playthroughs. The new characters designs are pretty divisive, with all the characters being given new, hyper-realistic animal designs. It's not great but I started to warm up to it recently after having them in action so much. The updated lore though is probably the biggest change. There's a new cutscene between each mission now actually explaining why each level is important and gives each character a chance to really hone in on their new personality quirks that seem to come with their new designs. It really does work in my book but definitely not enough to seal the deal. Overall, for long time fans of the series, and 64 in particular, it feels like this is a no-brainer. Especially during the summer drought here for games. For new players to the series, I'd recommend getting Nintendo Online and trying out the original Star Fox 64 on there for the same price first before making the decision here. If you like that version of the game, especially one made 30 years ago, you'll definitely enjoy this. But I'm not sure how much the newer gaming crowd will like this, even with it being one of the best of it's genre of all time.
