This was a really fun game. I played through the main story in a little under 10 hours. It’s the perfect embodiment of creativity in video games. Do you like trains? Do you like trains that do skateboard tricks? Do you like jrpg/anime style games set in a world torn apart by climate change? Then this is the game for you. The music is very well done as well and I really like the art style of this game. The story is decent although I will admit it’s not something I was overly invested in. Of the things I’d like to see modified are the controls as they are a bit convoluted. There were multiple times where i hit the wrong button because the controls are not very intuitive. Also the screen can get a little too busy at times and with how fast you are moving it can be really hard to see what’s coming. Also they need to adjust the coloring of the “horn” and “air trick” speed boosters as they look way too similar and make it hard to determine which is which. Overall I’d give this game an 8/10 and I’m really happy I played it. I miss when you saw games this unique more regularly as it is tons of fun.

MARVEL Cosmic Invasion8

Really fun game that reminds me of the x-men arcade games from the 90s. This is an excellent couch co-op game. My wife doesn’t play video games often but she had a great time playing through this with me. The controls are straightforward but the abilities for different characters offer a lot of good diversity from a move set perspective. The last boss was a good challenge and it took us 3 attempts to beat them. If you enjoy beat em ups you’ll love this game. If you don’t like beat em ups this is one of the better games in the genre and I highly recommend it.

LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight8
Jul 13, 2026
This was my first Lego game and I couldn’t be happier that I played it. It’s a fantastic game. I’m absolutely shocked with how good this game looks. I did not think a game based on legos could look this good. The lighting really stood out. My biggest complaint with this game was that it was far too easy. I played this on dark knight and I’m a bit surprised with how easy it was. I only died a handful of times and the majority of times I did die were due to me just screwing around. I would have enjoyed this game if it was harder. Also, the puzzles (if you can call them that) were not challenging in any way. The yellow paint in this game was also very overdone and definitely detracted from the game. The combat was a blast though. I did run into a couple bugs where I couldn’t interact with things or my character got stuck but nothing too bad. Overall I’m really happy I played this and I’ll definitely be checking out other Lego games now.

Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe8
Jul 6, 2026
Played with my wife. We both had a really good time playing this. It was a really good looking game. All of the different abilities were really well done. The level design was awesome. Kirby is probably one of our favorite Nintendo characters and this game did not disappoint. It’s a fairly easy game but that’s not a bad thing as it’s a great couch co-op game to just sit down and relax with. If you like Kirby games then you’ll love this.

Kirby: Planet Robobot9

Really fun game. The 3D looks great. I loved the incorporation of the mechs (or robot suits?) in this game. It added a really fun element. I only wished they were used more! I absolutely loved the flying elements in the game. It felt like a real throwback to the 90s and the movement when flying was superb. The game length was excellent and the level designs were super well thought out. I really liked that you moved into the background of levels as it added space to the game. The final boss encounter was awesome because they incorporated all of the different gameplay styles into it. If you haven’t played this I really recommend it.

Yoshi and the Mysterious Book10
Jun 27, 2026
Easy 10/10 and my favorite, and I think the best, switch 2 exclusive as of now. It’s so creative and unlike anything I’ve played. In 2026 that is beyond impressive and I give Nintendo a ton of credit for taking such a risk. People will say this game won’t be for everyone but I disagree. I think if you approach it with an open mind you will have fun. Onto the specifics. Music was fantastic. The music starts light and is fairly muted when you first start a level and builds as you progress. It’s such a small touch but adds so much. Especially considering the music throughout the whole game is great. It’s done so well. This game is not really a platformer in my eyes. You don’t “die” and there isn’t a time limit. You can essentially fail a level, although there is not true game over. This game is all about experimentation. You’re given a creature to investigate and then you are tasked with figuring out what abilities that creature has or makes available to you. Each world is different and each level within that world is different as each level focuses on a specific creature. You will then use that creature to solve puzzles. It’s sooooooo fun and perfectly put together. I bought this game rather reluctantly and figured it be something I would eventually get to. However during a rainy week I decided to boot it up and I’m beyond happy that I did. Before playing it I figured I’d pick this game up for about an hour, confirm it was for kids and not my style and move on. But after the first few levels I was hooked and could not put it down. It’s that good. For reference I tend to favor souls-likes, RPGs, action adventures and metroidvanias. I’m beyond happy that I gave it a shot. It’s wonderfully weird and experimental in all the right ways. For me it never got repetitive or boring. There was always something new and interesting to try. This is the true example of “Nintendo magic” that people are always talking about. If you think this game isn’t for to, I would encourage you to put your preconceptions notions aside and give it a shot. Enter with an open mind and at least go through the first world. This is easily in the top 3 games for me in 2026 as of June 2026. The others being RE9 and Saros. This is also my favorite switch 2 exclusive as of right now. This is an easy 10/10 and one of my new favorites. I’m so happy I gave this a shot. The only negative I have about the game itself is that it is on unreal engine 5 and there are a few instances where it has that UE5 stutter. It’s not pervasive but there were a few spots early on where it was there. It was few and far between but I wanted to mention it. One last thing, the credits will roll after the 6th world. However, 4 more open up after the credits roll.

Star Fox9
Jun 27, 2026
I had a ton of fun playing through this. I played through this on the 3DS last October and really enjoyed that too but this is far superior to that version. I am definitely biased when it comes to starfox because fox is one of my favorite Nintendo characters. I have fond memories of playing through the N64 version when it came out when I was a wee lad. This new version absolutely does the original justice and is superior in almost every way. I’m really happy this turned out so great considering the N64 version was so good. At first I was a bit disappointed that they were remaking the same game yet again. However, I am really happy a whole new audience will get to experience this story for the first time. The game is beautiful and is probably the best looking game on the switch 2 that I’ve played. It’s definitely the best looking first party game release on the switch 2 as of its release. The music is fantastic. The gameplay is a joy. I played through the campaign once but I’ll definitely be playing through it multiple times to play all the missions. I really hope this is the start of a revival for starfox and that this leads to a brand new starfox game and story. I’m so happy they made this and I really really want more starfox.

Savant - Ascent REMIX7

A really fun game and a good time all around. The controls are very straight forward but definitely took a little to get use to. You point your right joystick in a direction and it auto shoots. There’s some power ups where you use the bumpers and triggers. And you move and jump with the left joystick. My biggest complaint with the game is that the movement isn’t the most precise and there were multiple times (especially on the last part) where the game did not register my controls or moved me in a direction I did not point. If this issue wasn’t present this would be a 9 out of 10. The gameplay is very addicting and I find myself wanting to do run after run. The music is also great. This isn’t a long game but it’s definitely fun and I’m really happy I played it.

Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon7
Jun 22, 2026
This game could be great but there are a number of things that were incredibly frustrating and I found myself being more aggravated than enjoyable. The controls really detracted from the experience. I found myself trying to point in a different direction to vacuum stuff up but the controls were not very responsive which would really slow things down and led to getting hit. They could have left the dog out of this entirely and it would have drastically improved it. It felt like they were trying to pad the game by having the dog steal things from you on a regular basis. The second to last mission was just tedious and adding a timed element to it felt forced. On the good side, the 3D was amazing. The game ran great. And most of the missions were very enjoyable. It’s unfortunate that the controls and other elements were present as this could have easily been a 10/10. Overall, I’m happy I played through the main story but I don’t think I’ll be playing this again.

SAROS10
Jun 16, 2026
This is a fantastic game that thoroughly kicked my ass. This was the first time I’ve played through a roguelite game and my inexperience showed. I played the first 20 hours Without any training wheels, by accident. Meaning I went through the first 4 biomes with using modifiers. Not because I didn’t want to but because I didn’t know about them to make it easier for myself. I also didn’t do myself any favors by just starting right back in the biome in last died in. This had me severally under-leveled and those first four biomes were rough because of it. I just assumed this game was brutally tough and accepted that because the gameplay was so much fun. Once I started a couple runs from the first biome and kept going from there the game became sooooo much ch more manageable and I started having even more fun. I had so much fun that I’m actually going for the platinum, which I’ve only ever done 2 other times. I’m usually ready to move on to the next game after completing the main story but the gameplay is so great that I’m not ready to put it down yet. The gunplay is fantastic in this game, each fun has great weight and action. The movement is addicting. You basically fly through the air like a super hero. The game is visually stunning. The soundtrack is great. I highly recommend playing this game, even if you’re new to the genre like me. It’s a great game.

Super Mario Advance8
Jun 13, 2026
This game frustrated me so much when I was a kid playing it on the NES. Great news it still frustrates me today. But that’s not a bad thing. I still like this game but it definitely lacks something that other Mario titles have. This game is just so different from other Mario’s. I still don’t like that you can’t jump on enemies to beat them. The throwing mechanic is alright. There is plenty of jank in this game but that’s jank from a time that has passed us by but is still fun. This is probably my least favorite of all side scrolling Mario games that I’ve played. Overall I’m happy I played this again and I recommend playing it. Beat on 6/13/26. 37th game beaten in 2026.

Grandpa High on Retro9
Jun 9, 2026
I had a great time with this game. It’s funny but knows it’s over the top. The gunplay is great but clunky at times. The story is straightforward, grandpa wants some strange and he GoneGetIt. I’d give this a 10/10 if some of the following bugs were fixed: there are runs where enemies take no damage, some dead bodies will not allow you to loot them for no apparent reason, and the guns stop shooting. I played this on my legion go S (steam os) and it became very clear the the “Y” button does too much. It loots, it selects weapons, it drops weapons (in the inventory screen), and it’s the action button as well. There were multiple times where I accidentally used med packs when I thought I was selecting a body to loot. Also, inventory management is a pain in the ass. With all that said the game is just a damn good time because it’s gunplay is fun and its story is ridiculous. Overall, 9/10. I will be playing the DLC. Oh, one last thing. Please add steam achievements.

Kirby: Nightmare in Dream Land10
Jun 6, 2026
Loved the different abilities. Very approachable for people of all skill levels. Brings me back to playing Kirby games with my friends where we would pass the controller around. This game was such a joy to play. Sure it’s short but man is it just a good time. This brought me back to when I was younger playing Kirby on the SNES with my buddy and we would pass the controller back and forth. Is it the greatestgame ever made? No, absolutely not. But is it just an all around great game that still holds up in 2026? Absolutely. I loved my whole playthrough of this game and I had a smile on my face the whole time. I’ll definitely come back to it in the future.

I had this on the NES growing up but I never beat it. Well today that changed. I beat it on my analogue pocket. It was so much fun playing this again. The game is just as good now as it was 40 years ago. It’s amazing that a game can stand the test of time. I was quickly reminded why I never beat this when I was younger, it’s hard! I had a blast with this though and I will be revisiting it again in the future.

May 30, 2026
This game caught me by surprise. I thought it was going to be meh but I really enjoyed this. The platforming is well done. The characters are pretty goofy. And overall it’s well put together. My biggest complaint is that I wanted there to be more game. This is a short game but I was aware of that going in. The game ran well overall. There was some pop in on the final planet but technically it ran really well. There is a little bit of jank in the controls but it doesn’t get in the way. This is a very short game but it’s a very good 3d platformer. I definitely recommend this and hopefully there will be more Bubsy in the future!

Nioh 38
May 27, 2026
I’ve played through all of the previous Niohs and I struggled with this one the most. The kusarigama has been my go to in all of them. Not having high medium or low stance in ninja stance did not help me and significantly affected how I played. That’s not to say this is a bad thing, I just wanted expecting it to impact me as much. The one thing that was just awful was the input delay or the game just ignored. It was pervasive with ignoring the elixir. I tried multiple controls, different consoles. Nothing worked. This was present in previous games but is very bad in this game. This caused significant frustration on multiple occasions. I would have rated this higher if this wasn’t present. Overall it was more Nioh, which is great! I had fun overall and I enjoyed it. Nioh 2 is still probably my favorite but this one is not far behind at all.

This was a very nice time. This game is very straightforward which isn’t a bad thing because it’s done right. The art style is beautiful. I would recommend playing on an OLED monitor/tv if you have the option. While this game doesn’t do anything that is earth **** it is very well put together. I beat this game in around 4ish hours. Tomodachi Life: Living the Dream7
May 18, 2026
To be fully transparent, I don’t often play games in this genre. However, the goofiness and over the top dialogue intrigued me. I just rolled credits on this in about 23 hours. I unlocked most things except some renovations. Overall I had a lot of fun. It started off great but in the back half of my playthrough it started to get a bit repetitive from a dialogue perspective and after I unlocked most things it got repetitive as there wasn’t much new to add. I’m not sure if I played this correctly or not but it felt like a good chunk of my playthrough was spent feeding everyone. I played this in chunks so whenever I would fire up the game I’d spend about 30 min feeding the population and then adjusting things on the island and it went like this for most of my playthrough. It feels like this is very much a game that will get better over time as there is a ton of room for them to add things. Overall I’m happy I played it but I don’t know if I’ll be returning. I’d give it a 7.5 out of 10.

Mixtape9
May 10, 2026
I really enjoyed my playthrough of this. Took me about 3.5 hours to finish. This is a much different “game” than I’ve played as it’s very much an interactive movie. There are no choices. There is no action, combat or anything resembling that. And that’s not a bad thing but you should know going into this that you are very much not playing a game but watching a movie where you can move the character around at predetermined times. I had a really good time with this game. I started off not thinking this was my type of game but after I just let myself enjoy it for what it was, I started having a really good time. The soundtrack is pretty good. I liked the music in the second half over the first. The main reason I’m not saying the music is great is due it feeling a little to low energy at parts and it didn’t necessarily fit at times. Overall, this was a really fun time and I’m happy I played it. It’s the perfect length for what it is, if it was any longer I think I wouldn’t have enjoyed it as much.

I’m between and 7/10 and an 8/10 on this. While there are a lot of elements that make this a good game there were a decent amount of times where I was not having fun. There were parts that were just tedious. The overall level design is fantastic. The combat is decent enough but nothing more than average. I just finished this today and I can’t tell you much at all about the story of that says anything. The bosses were tough but mostly fair. Overall, I’m happy I played it but it’s nothing that I have the urge to revisit anytime soon.

Apr 25, 2026
This was a fun game. Visually, it’s amazing. The gameplay is very addictive. Especially the hacking ability. It’s really innovative and really intuitive. It’s the perfect balance of adding an element of difficulty without getting in the way. Also, I love Capcom’s approach with how long games like this and resident evil are. Every year it gets a little harder for me to find time to be able to finish a game without it taking months. This is the perfect length where it doesn’t feel too short but it’s long enough where it’s not a deterrence to **** story is decent but it’s the relationship between Hugh and Diana is the real standout. It’s done really well and was clearly made by people with kids. I highly recommend this game and I hope Capcom takes more risks like this. More studios need to get back to making new IPs. This was such a breath of fresh air and I hope it kicks off a trend.

REPLACED6
Apr 21, 2026
I'm conflicted with this game. It's a fun game. However it is significantly held back by a couple things:- The play time of this game could have been cut in half (easily) which would have improved SO MUCH. The amount of time you spend walking with nothing going on is not small. Also, PLEASE let us be able to move the dialogue along. They kept each line of dialogue up for an extended, and unnecessary, amount of time. Let us move the dialogue along because it was just agonizing to sit there so often and wait for it to move itself. The hub felt unnecessary and padded the game a lot. And even when there was something you needed to do in the hub. it wasn't designed in way that made things quick, it was painfully tedious.- The controls are sometimes just not responsive. It got very aggravating on multiple occasions. Especially in parts where timing is key.- The amount of yellow paint in this game is wild. What makes things worse is that there are many parts of this game where the level design doesn't help because things blend into each other so much. There were multiple parts where something in the foreground was blocking the view when you needed every last inch of runway to be able to clear a jump but they put something obstructing your view making things very **** good- This game is beautiful. It is really really well done.- The music is awesome. This is a tough one for me because there is a really really good game here. However, this game would have improved greatly from removing a lot of the padding because it felt like it dragged on far too often

I had a lot of fun playing this game. It reminded me of how first person shooters (and games in general) back in the 00s were designed to just be fun. This is not a game that is doing anything groundbreaking. But it is a game that is a ton of fun. I love how the incorporated the snow runner mechanics into this game and combined it with the shooter genre. The campaign was the perfect length for what this games is. If the campaign was any longer the game would have started to drag. The primary reason is that from a gameplay loop perspective this game is pretty simple 1) Find a car 2) Gather Parts and Resources and get the things needed for the main mission 3) Defend an area from hordes of zombies. That is pretty much how every mission goes which was fun. However, if the game were longer this would have needed significant adjustments or it would have gotten boring. But it didn’t and it was an awesome time. The music in this game is solid too. The one thing I do not like was the characters. They were empty and there was nothing done to make you feel attached to them or even care about them. Overall I’m really happy I played this game, it was a great time.

Starship Troopers: Ultimate Bug War!9
Mar 30, 2026
A really fun game that reminds me of a different time. A time when FPS actually had decent single player campaigns. I love the art direction of this game. It’s really unique and I haven’t experience a game that looks like this. It’s got 2D sprites for your teammates and full 3D for the bugs. It’s really interesting because even the 3D bugs look 2d-ish (but still 3d ) up close but from a distance they look beautiful from a distance. The pink trees half way through the campaign stick out because the are really eye catching from a distance. The things they could improve in this game are the ammo and health. There are sooooo many bugs at times and you just churn through ammo. There were many times where I ran out and I was just sprinting around looking for ammo which got old. The same thing with health. This game can get pretty difficult as well, it’s a fun challenge but the ammo and health are a bit too infrequent for some of the hordes of bugs you have to take down. This is also a very funny game and I’m really happy they leaned into that. Overall, I really enjoyed this game. It was a lot of fun and I miss when games like these were more frequent because its sole focus is to have fun without dragging the rest of the game out.
