Marvel’s Wolverine… what a ride! Insomniac has successfully honoured the core of Wolverine and translated it into one of the best games of 2026. From the very first moments of the game, you are taken on a jaw-dropping and adrenaline-pumping adventure as you slice and dice your way through an army of enemies as you try to save the world from those seeking to control it. From its flawless gameplay to its realistic graphics, Marvel’s Wolverine undeniably boasts one of the best narratives of the year, which is enhanced by its stellar cast who successfully make you feel the emotions of these characters from Earth 1048. Brilliant and I can’t wait for the sequel!

In terms of gameplay, the combat is just as visceral and fun as we expected. Admittedly, other aspects of the experience didn't quite hit the mark—such as the chase sequences, the desire for a slightly more open design, and the choreographed nature of the quick-time events. After all, it is 2026, and some of these elements could benefit from a bit more depth or a greater element of surprise.

Great story, don't pay attention to reviews from people who don't even own the game.

Marvel's Wolverine captures the vibe of the PS2 and PS3 era—the kind of game people often complain isn't made anymore—featuring solid combat and a good story. However, it holds the player's hand too much with guides and moments where failure is impossible, and it offers virtually no post-campaign content. Consequently, it is far better to wait for a sale than to pay full price for the game.

Marvel’s Wolverine ends the open world streak at Insomniac for an intentional and linear superhuman title that revels in its gory, intense combat system. The campaign structured around it can be overly restrictive and the story quite dull, but as a mission guides you from one fight to the next, it lets the bloodshed do the talking. With superb visuals, amazing character performances, and nice location variety, Marvel’s Wolverine sheds its flaws for an endlessly enjoyable superhero experience.

Marvel’s Wolverine combines a dark and dramatic narrative with bloody combat and outstanding visuals. Insomniac Games crafts a story centered on the past, rage, and personal conflicts of Marvel’s most solitary mutant, accompanied by familiar faces. However, its linear world and story structure, repetitive gameplay and simplistic mechanics leave the feeling that it could have offered much more. Although it stands out for its atmosphere, Marvel’s Wolverine never quite reaches its full potential as a natural evolution of the Spider-Man formula. It is a proposition that can win over Logan’s fans, although some of its narrative liberties may not appeal to more traditional comic book followers.

This is a turn-your-brain-off-and-go-for-a-ride spectacle that occasionally punches above its weight. That works to some extent, but Marvel's Wolverine doesn't live up to the creative standard Insomniac Games is known for, and Logan has never been known for playing it safe.

Marvel's Wolverine is a frustrating mess. The narrative is ruined by poor pacing and character writing, even with the brilliant voice-over for those characters. As for the gameplay, while it is one of the best parts of the overall experience, the lifeless combat and overt handholding made for a title that was more obnoxious than fun. This is an undeniable blemish on Insomniac's time with the Marvel license and one that I have no intention of replaying anytime soon.

Marvel’s Wolverine is a game that I think deserves more credit than it gets. It is far from perfect, but I don’t think the criticism around it reflects what the game actually does well. With around 15 hours of playtime, the game offers a solid story experience without feeling unnecessarily stretched. The story moves at a good pace and gives you enough time to get familiar with Wolverine and the world around him without turning the game into a 40-hour experience. The combat is probably one of the biggest strengths. Playing as Wolverine actually feels brutal and powerful, and the game does a good job of making his abilities feel different from those of a normal action-game protagonist. There are definitely things that could have been better. It isn’t a perfect game, and some parts can feel repetitive or lack the depth you might expect from a bigger AAA title. It also doesn’t completely reinvent the superhero **** I think that’s fine.Marvel’s Wolverine doesn’t need to be one of the greatest games ever made to be enjoyable. For Marvel and especially X-Men fans, it is a solid and entertaining experience that gives you the chance to finally play as Wolverine in a proper single-player action game. Overall, I think Marvel’s Wolverine is better than the critics sometimes make it seem. It has its flaws, but if you’re a Marvel or X-Men fan, there’s a lot here to enjoy. It’s not perfect, but it’s a good and perfectly acceptable Wolverine experience.

The Wolverine game sits at a mediocre 4/10 because Insomniac played it far too safe, stripping away the grit, weight, and essence expected of the character. Combat feels light and repetitive, progression suffers from heavy hand-holding, and noticeable bugs combined with subpar character models make the full price tag difficult to justify. While the narrative picks up slightly in the final quarter, it takes far too long to gain momentum, leaving behind a dragged-out, emotionally flat experience that falls well short of top-tier AAA standards.

As weak as the story was, I actually don't think it was terrible. The handholding elements to the game are also frustrating but to me, the biggest complaint I have is the combat and gameplay. I found the overall experience infuriating and boring. Combat is repetitive and way too defensive/reactive to be a wolverine game. You spend the majority of your time dodging and parrying instead of going berserk as wolverine. Performances were fantastic and the technical presentation was astounding but unfortunately, that's where praise for the game ends. By the end of my 15 hours when credits rolled, I was relieved to be done.
