In an era of copy-paste open-world festivals, this game delivers a strong linear experience that isn’t afraid to take risks. Despite somewhat clunky combat, it offers a compelling package that no fan of quality cyberpunk storytelling and aesthetics should miss.

Replaced is a breathtakingly beautiful and narratively riveting game that has engrossing world-building while also delivering solid combat. However, it’s held back by fickle platforming and dull side quests. Still, the memorable music helps elevate the entire experience, making this dystopian adventure worth playing.

Rather than a spectacular journey across a ruined America, Replaced delivers an incredibly beautiful yet overly stretched story saddled with several poorly implemented gameplay mechanics.

Audiovisually is one of the best things I've ever witnessed. Now imagine how dull, unimaginative and repetitive is the gameplay. Platforming feels bad and design is most of the time annoying. Combat could have been so cool, but ends up being messy due to the fact they put 4 overlapping enemies in 3 inches of space. Then the story is meh, full of cliches, most fo the time towards the end I found myself skipping cutsecenes.

Nota: 8/10. Compra inmediata para los amantes del cyberpunk.

Pros : - The Art / Fusion of 3D and Pixel Art is perfectly done / you can take time to observe it almost always during the game - Story is well written, deep and memorable, the concept of A.I into a human body works great into this **** gives us thoughts about our own modern era for the best and the worst... - Music is nice ( specially during combat and poursuit and boss ) and perfectly synchonised with the context - Animation works correctly for the 2D/3D concept - Sounds effects are very precise // Cons : - Plateform mechanics lacks precision and distance are mis-calculate for the level **** you miss some jump and fall for exemple you have to restart often the whole zone (frustrating) - Auto-save is not always script at the best moments, specially during "big plateform zone" - Combat is nice but too simple ( lack of animations and precisions ), enemies are all on the same line (can be visually confusing ) // Really good indie game in general

Replaced is a seamless experience that grabs your attention from the outset and doesn’t let go. The seamless platforming and combat make you feel like an action star in one of your favorite blockbusters, a sensation enhanced by the excellent 2.5D visual style, which sometimes uses camera angles inspired by movies to heighten the action. There’s no doubt that REPLACED will become a go-to reference for anyone wanting to show that pixel graphics can be just as beautiful as realistic 3D. This modern-day classic has already made its way to the top of my Game of the Year list, and it will be hard to dethrone.

Replaced is a visually stunning 2D platformer that ambitiously strives to give a thrilling and emotional experience in the still relatively exclusive cyberpunk niche. Alongside its numerous incredibly detailed, hand-crafted backdrops, its splendidly fluid combat system feels dynamic and addictingly fun to play from one encounter to the next. That said, the game evidently still needs some polishing in terms of combat balance, along with notably disjointed character movement when traversing through each zone's platform mechanics. However, that doesn't diminish what the game has accomplished from its years of development and clear commitment to detail. It's a truly memorable indie experience that you shouldn't miss out on this year.

Bloody hell, what a blast ! I don't remember playing such an amazing cinematic platformer since Flashback in 1992. Obviously, the game is absolutely gor-geous, but that's only the tip of the iceberg : the story is good, the combats are dynamic and the atmosphere is amazing. They found a way to conjure the feeling we had 30 years ago, with modern day technology. I can't even imagine how the reviews could be so love... An absolute must play !

REPLACED offers gameplay that alternates between exploration, environmental puzzles, stealth, and combat—with the latter standing out as the most successful component. The combat system, simple and intuitive, evokes old-school arcade games: few commands, satisfying hit feedback, and encounters against multiple enemies that remain manageable and frustration-free. The platforming and stealth sections are less convincing, often feeling slow and lacking impact. The overall pacing suffers as a result, partly due to a certain "walking simulator" quality. Elevating the entire experience is the extraordinary graphics—among the finest 2.5D pixel art seen to date. It is a solid experience that shines brightest when it gives way to action.

Sad Cat Studios’ debut is an atmospherically powerful tour de force that only occasionally runs out of steam.

Replaced proves its visual and narrative artistry through an unprecedented blend of 2D and 3D graphics, alongside a profound story that explores the true meaning of humanity. However, it ultimately misses out on the essential fun of a video game, dragged down by glaring flaws such as an empty map design, excessively slow pacing, and exhausting combat. While it boasts a dazzling exterior, its lack of gameplay depth makes the overall experience feel more like a tedious chore than an enjoyable adventure.

A captivating universe and lore for those willing to read its codex and accept an imperfect gameplay.

More "cinematic" than "platformer", Replaced is visually scrumptious but simply feels bad to control. Ultimately, it does feel like the gameplay was conceived backwards from the visuals. As mean as it sounds (and I don't like beating on indies), the experience might genuinely be best enjoyed on YouTube for less jank-tolerant folks.

This game is so beautiful it's hard to describe; it's worth every penny. Its only downside is that it's a bit short, but what I can say is that it exceeded all expectations.

Fantastic debut and a must-play for all retro-sci-fi and cyberpunk lovers! It's soundtrach and quotes from this story definately **** me!

Well, it was certainly one of the games of all time. Art is very interesting, but plot is one big deus ex machina where things happen because they happen and writing is quite bad in general, I had hard time to get immersed. At first I thought plot is some kind of parody of 80s action movies (because some lab rat nerd becomes Bruce Lee x Terminator x Spider Man only because AI took a free ride in his head), but it's actually not. And if we take it seriously, then it's not too good plot-wise. Many things in plot are so far-fetched that I would laugh if it was actually a parody. It's certainly a game worth playing, but it certainly won't change your life and won't stay in your head for long.

I'm sorry but this game is pretty bad tbh. Repetitive, uninteresting, gameplay loop is pretty much braindead. I gave up when I got stuck on a minigame. If you're into old arcades then maybe this is for you.

The visuals are genuinely stunning. The kind of work you want to just sit and stare at, and that’s exactly the problem: this game is infinitely better to look at than to play. Every action feels hollow and unrewarding. The platforming is plagued by unresponsive controls, and when it does demand precision, it punishes harshly — tight scripted sequences where you either nail the exact input or restart. No flow, no satisfaction, just you and your damaged ego staring at a loading screen. Checkpoints are badly placed, often forcing you to replay long, uneventful walking stretches just to get back to where you died. What’s worst is that the game constantly contradicts its own rules: sometimes leaving an area asks for confirmation, sometimes it just yeets you into a cutscene with no warning and locks you out of the previous zone forever. Timings and combat aren’t about understanding the flow — they’re pure muscle memory drills. Every new situation demands you die first, memorize the exact sequence, then reproduce it on autopilot. There’s no reading the game. There’s only repetition. I desperately wanted to keep playing. The world is that gorgeous. But the gameplay kept reminding me why I put the controller down in the first place. A stunning shell with nothing inside.
