It’s feels intuitive and looks amazingly smooth on-screen as you button bash and combine skills to take down armies of starships. A great addition to the Switch 2 library and a must-buy for gamers.

A faithful remake that pays tribute to a timeless classic without taking creative liberties, serving as proof that arcade-style design can still thrive in the modern AAA landscape. Recommended to longtime fans who still cherish their N64 cartridge, as well as anyone who enjoyed the original and wouldn't mind a modern visual overhaul. Let's just hope we won't have to revisit Lylat once again a few decades from now on Switch 4.

Though safe and familiar, Star Fox is now the definitive way to play the game seen by many as the peak of its genre, and the changes it does make are all for the better. The new cutscenes, though brief, further ground Fox and the squad in the world they live in, while the spotless visuals, charming character designs, and excellent new voice cast are inviting to both longtime fans and curious newcomers. Between its classic campaign, addictive multiplayer, and assortment of extra features, Star Fox for the Nintendo Switch 2 is a triumphant return and fresh start for the series that proudly says that its best days are yet to come.

Star Fox 64 is not the best rail-shooter ever made (that distinction belongs to Sin & Punishment: Star Successor), but it is up there. I have no idea how well you personally will agree with that, but I do know that sitting here replaying it again, I remember how much fun that original game was. It kind of makes me happy that someone who had never even heard of the N64 original could feel like that today.

An excellent remake that retains everything that was great about the N64 original and adds just the right amount of quality of life improvement to keep it fun for modern audiences – even if it still leaves the franchise with an uncertain future.

A well-crafted remake of a thirty-year-old shooter that retains most of the original design under a modern coat of paint. It possesses undeniable charm, but keep in mind that beneath the hood of this fighter jet beats the very distinct heart of mid-90s gameplay.

By being overly faithful to the source material, this Star Fox remake misses the mark. Nintendo has revived a dated genre without injecting any meaningful gameplay modernization or worthwhile additional content. It is essentially the 1997 game ported to 2026, complete with all its structural flaws—starting with a pitifully short runtime and archaic AI. Up against modern competition and the current trend of remakes that successfully reinvent old formulas, Star Fox falls short... and leaves me worried about the upcoming release of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time for Switch 2 later this year. Here’s hoping more effort goes into that one.

A wonderful game if you like rail shooters, arcade games, the star fox franchise or are looking for a game to play a few quick rounds, then come back to it later. The graphics are absolutely stunning for an early-life Switch 2 title, the orchestrated soundtrack is amazing and the voice acting is by far not as bad as some people make you think. Yes, it's inferior to the original, but that's a very high bar. A decent multiplayer mode and new challenges that, especially the expert ones, can be pretty tough add replayability and push the time to complete around the 40 hours mark. Pro: + Graphics + Soundtrack + Gameplay + Actually new playable content + Fun new gimmicks and lore Cons: - Voice acting of the original was better, with exceptions (e.g. Rob64 is better here) - It's Star Fox, if you played one of the originals, you know all the content except the new challenges by heart - Multiplayer mode has the usual Nintendo limitations - No cute fox on foot mode

A solid rail shooter game which holds up to this day. However the price does't match with the scope of the title. As a new comer to the genre, I was impressed by the unliniar nature of the story campaign. It took me 4 playthoughs, 7 hours in total, to see all the missions, scenes and alternative routes. That what makes this game so special to deserve a 7/10 rating for me. What I like is shooting, visuals and cinematic feel. But I don't like that it's so short and limited.

Pros: Graphics look great. Gameplay is mostly the same with slight button layout, which makes somersault and u turns easier than on a 64 controller. Multi-player surprisingly is fun online. The new cutscenes in between levels are mostly good and give more chacter in story. Cons: The character design to me is very ugly and uncanny. This goes for enemy looks too, probably the worst redesign is one of the lizard generals who looks like a abomination in area 6. Falco looks the worst out of the main characters, I don't know if it's the uncanny human eyeballs or his head is too small it's just unsettling for me. Katt is also butchered in this new hyper realistic mode, where she somehow looks like she smokes. I think if they went for a more cartoon style, and or added like frog eyes to sloppy they could make this style work. It just doesn't work for me compared to the original. Probably the worst thing overall is the voice acting. Compared to 64 the voice acting is far worse. Two examples is the shogun general and the train general. The shogun general in the remake is completely changed, probably to make it more kid friendly. Where when you defeat him he just says "that was a honorable defeat" and awkwardly explodes like it was inconvenient. Then the train general in the original would panic if you hit all the locks and yell "stop! Hit the brakes! I can't stop it aghhh!", because he literally about to crash and explode. In the new one he also just awkwardly yells "stop. Hit the brakes.", he doesn't yell or act panic and he awkwardly explodes too. Those two and many other enemy units just sound rushed or unfinished, because most don't sound scared or taughting. They all sound almost bored. Other side chacters like bill and Katt have completely different style of talking. Bill and Katt almost sounds generic, like if you played their voice compared to most the other cast you probably wouldn't know who it was. The main cast I think did well however. This game doesn't add much compared to 64. So it left me wishing there was more new content added. Like more planets or routes. Or even fights with star wolf. And I wish they added content that was added to star fox zero with a more accessible control scheme. One small con I have is the enemies do not flash red now when they are damaged. Which if your brand new to the game might be hard to know if your hitting the weak points. Overall: I think the game graphics and environment are very good. I liked most of the cutscenes they added, although some millennial humor is in some, overall I liked seeing the outcomes and the differenent paths. Multi-player isn't something I like or play often, but my time with star fox online mode was fun. However, the design of most characters and their voice acting ruin most scenes. Lack of new content also makes it hard to recommend it at its current price tag. Tldr: if you love star fox 64, you probably will like this too. I don't think it's superior, but makes it a worthy entry.

Its pretty cool while you play the campagne but after that it gets pretty lame and the campagne lasts like 1 hour or even less

I hate having to give this game a bad review. It looks amazing and the gameplay principle is great... But the fact that they sell a 2h long game at full price is a joke. The game can't be labeled as anything but bad. I had high hopes for it and was utterly disapointed
