fun action but otherwise very forgettable, a bit of fun background noise maybe

I want to like this movie.Every few years I try to watch it. But it’s boring. The story is plodding and lacks adventure, a clear goal, and a threat.

Ein Agentenfilm wie James Bond. Hier gibt es aber gleich zwei Agenten in der Hauptrolle. Einen amerikanischen und einen russischen. Sie arbeiten zusammen um den Bau einer Atombombe zu verhindern. Es hat einige Story-Twists und paar lustige Szenen. Guter Actionfilm ohne zu viel von allem.

Great agent movie in the typical Ritchie style. Setting, twist, music score and actors at a very high level. Great entertainment, exciting and good entertainment. More of it.

One of my favorite movies. I still do not understand why the feedback on this is so mixed. It is a fun and enjoyable film! I really thought it was going to do well enough for a sequel but alas, that is not likely to happen :(

ANKL agents filmed Guy Ritchie. And his style is immediately felt. Well acting blows the main characters. Great light story and nice jokes. I advise everyone to watch, so much fun has not yet described the Cold War.

Russian-American and German or just an uncle.Undeniable non-professionals, but damn **** Ritchie it was the point or just the beginning of something amazing?

Could have been a 10 except for the female actress in it I mean some of her parts are cool but her snotty attitude can get on my nerves

Disappointingly formulaic, highly predictable and lacks Ritchie's usual panache. Its too long and the cast is surprisingly off, blame the script, not the actors. There were a couple of enjoyable scenes, but 3 days later I can't remember a single one. Couldn't recommend this to anyone

Guy Ritchie singe Tarantino mais avec une couche d'humour rosbif périmé, ce qui donne un film aussi ragoûtant (oui, ça rime avec dégoûtant) que la boustifaille de la perfide Albion. Comme d'habitude, son film s'époumone rapidement, se perd en clichés et en clins d'oeil lourdingues usés jusqu'à la corde. C'est de l'humour bobo branchouille (ou branchecouille comme on dit dans le bouchonnois) qui aime se regarder le nombril et rire de ses propres blagues comme un chiard qui vient de faire popo et qui revient tout fier le montrer à tout le monde. C'est aussi extrêmement prétentieux, ça fait des ronds de jambe et ça énerve prodigieusement, surtout que c'est comme ça pendant deux plombes... Superman, le pauvre, s'est égaré dans cette chienlit dont le scénario entre les poncifs du film d'espionnage tutoie régulièrement à la fois la bêtise et le grotesque de ses situations toutes plus invraisemblables les unes que les autres. De toute façon, à part des conneries, il ne se passe rien dans cette grosse merdasse ridicule mais Guy Ritchie est coutumier du fait : il ose tout et c'est même à ça qu'on le reconnaît.

Non ai livelli degli Sherlock Holmes o degli altri capolavori di Ritchie, ma lo stile inconfondibile resta, ed il film va giù piacevolmente. I tre attori protagonisti uno più bravo dell'altro.

Excellent cast elevate the average script. Ritchie shows a great sense of style and cinematography is great with some nice lighting in key scenes. Ultimately the play-it-safe inconsequential plot serves to honour the feeling of the tv original but feels like the producers wanted to take more risks with the characters and make something more realistic but switched to something more mainstream at the last minute. Overall very entertaining yet shallow.

Guy Ritchie is back with his Cold War spy flick. It's overall enjoyable, with charismatic performances from the entire cast. Armie Hammer stood out the most, though. The plot is very generic for a spy thriller, but Ritchie's unique directing style helps to overcome the movie's draggy moments.

Retro cool, love the music, setting, cast and sense of humor. The critics reviews are wrong they do not seem to get it. I hope they make more!

Fun, thrilling, style-over-substance action movie with great visuals and great dialogue. The actors have great chemistry and add a lot of good humor to the movie. Guy Ritchie is such a fun director, I really enjoy this movie.

This movies was SOO much better and funner than I ever hoped it could be. Armie Hammer completely transforms himself to the point that I'm beginning to think he is actually ;-) Russian and the internet is wrong. And Henry Cavil... - My God - he is SOOO fun and mesmerizing to watch that I genuinely want him to be James Bond more than anyone else IN THE WORLD. This is a GREAT movie that I guarantee you will love from start to finish. Bravo and well done to everyone who participated in the making of "The Man from U.N.C.L.E."!

It is fair and valid, because the film has quality to spare regarding films that try to entertain and are simplistic at all levels.

The best Guy Ritchie film, to date. A great adaptation of the original 60's television show, which is stronger, thanks to the slight changes in the characters. Great acting, a fantastic soundtrack that adds to the film in every aspect, brilliant "real" special effects, nicely set in period, and strongly directed. Well worth a watch.

The movie was okay, but not good or great. Interesting plot twists, and that's about all I can recommend. A cut below James Bond movies, maybe on the level of "I Spy."

Quite enjoyable movie even if you don't know anything about the tv series. Actually made me read up on tv series after watching the movie. I really loved that it was both funny and with action. Maybe the story could have been a bit better towards the end, but still it was great fun and with good acting.

I really dont know why the critics was so mean .. This movie is really well made with very good visual , the plot is good and some scene are really priceless . Of course even if the plot is not the most plausible , it manage to stay coherent (wich seem to be very rare these days) The cast mighty not be the best one but get the job done . Overall a good film

Enjoyable romp. The TV series actors developed a chemistry gradually over time that's incomplete here, but it's an international adventure movie that's more stylish and less gritty violent than Bourne. More like an 80s Bond feel going on. I like it enough to see it again and to defend it in the pub. Looking forward to a sequel - when do you hear that?

The Man From U.N.C.L.E is a lightweight but undeniably fun spy film that makes up for its lack of substance with impressive set pieces and great chemistry between its leads. There is plenty of fun banter and action to enjoy, and though the plot is admittedly rather light, it's hard to complain in the face of the picture's stylishness and sense of fun. Overall, The Man From U.N.C.L.E delivers just what it promises- a fun, enjoyable spy flick that overcomes a lack of substance with action, humour and Guy Ritchie's cool, slick style.

I cannot tell you how many times I've watched this movie! This isn't going to be one of those deep reviews; suffice it to say when you find a movie that you can add to your library and watch over and over again, you've found a jewel! The chemistry between the three main actors is spectacular, and this movie has it all: comedy, romance and action... not to mention the music adds to the flare :) I really enjoy this movie for a lighthearted watch, and it's one of those movies you watch when you're sick in bed, too. We all have those go-to movies, and this is one to have that is easy and fun to see when you don't want to overwork your brain & just take it easy...

The two main actors Henry Cavill and Armie Hammer were fantastic in their roles, Henry's character continuously kept up his witty, sarcastic sense of humor and the relationship between Henry and Armie's characters was handled very well. Their chemistry together was good and they kept up their humor throughout the film. The story for The Man From U.N.C.L.E isn't anything special but I think it made up for itself with everything else. If you enjoy your typical popcorn action movie and witty humor and can disregard the fact that the story isn't anything to be praised then you will enjoy this movie.

The Man from U.N.C.L.E. looks nice to watch, but its flaws is making me stop enjoying this, but I still watched the entire thing no matter how bad the flaws are.

A fantastic and entertaining movie. The movie opens with a smooth and jazzy song from Roberta flack and you know your in for a good time. This movies story is very simple and we have seen it many times before. A bad guy has a nuclear bomb and he wants to blow up to world and two mis matched spies have to work together to save man kind. Have you seen this kind of movie before yes you have. Guy richie is one one my favorite directorrs and while this movie could have been more original guy ritchie ozzes his signature style to make this movie something we have seen before into something that feels new. I appreciate that. Armie hammer and Henry cavil have fantastic chemistry together and each deliver playful and funny banter throughout as they try to one up another.Alicia Vikander was very good as Illya Kuryakin's 'wife." I really liked this movie a lot despite what critics are saying. Go check this one out. It's not terribly original but guy Richie breaths new life into this overdone plot with split screen action, vintage cars, jazz music and beautiful 1960's style costumes and very good acting by cast makes this a must watch.

It´s not the greatest film out there and its pace is far from thrilling. But still a lot of effort was put and there are action sequences to really enjoy and with a lot of personality. The bromance between the two male leads is a great watch and makes one desire it could have gone further in a way. Was probably the best part. But it still worked as a love/hate friendship. Entertaining watch.

A very pleasing action-comedy with the balanced sensitive contents. Another brilliant action-comedy from Guy Ritchie. I never saw the 60s television series of the same name, but this was very convenient for his style of portraying the tough men showing off their strength. The actors were simply wonderful, two year commitment by the two lead guys for this project definitely payed off well and Alicia Vikander filled the feminine void perfectly. I think it was one of the best trio in the movies I ever seen, very powerful and I hope it lasts for a trilogy. The story sets in the 60s during the cold war tension between the world's two superpowers. But the film's specialty was, it does not render clash between them, instead they come together to fight the rogue forces who plan blitz against them. Very humourous, highly entertaining with a swift pace and amazing action sequences. I don't think the narration had any unique twist and turn, instead I call it a smartly written screenplay. So the overall movie was so good, but not a top-notch. My disappointment came from the technical side in some of parts, especially the bike and car chase in the last quarter that you can clearly tell a fake (greenscreen/bluescreen shot). Other than the main plot and its clever scenes, the movie did not offer distinctive features. Just taking away a ½ point is what places it on a line between good and average, but I definitely consider it a good. 6½/10

The reboot to the TV show is actually a lot better than my original expectations. The characters are great and the acting is fairly good from the two male leads - the female lead was okay, but could have done better I think. Lots of fun dialogue and events. Not too many action sequences, surprisingly, although it IS a spy movie so I suppose that spies aren't exactly supposed to be getting into too many fights what with trying to do things covertly and all. Highly entertaining and I do recommend watching it if you like humorous but still semi-serious spy movies.

I know Ritchie gets a lot of flak for being a Tarantino copyist, but I really enjoy the films of the Brit that I've seen so far. They're great fun and more enjoyable than the grim-a-thons that the James Bond, Mission: Impossible and Jason Bourne franchises have churned out, though I love those as well. I thought the casting was a nice in-joke, pairing DC Comics' Superman with Marvel's Captain America, and I have loved Alicia Vikander's work since seeing her years ago in 'A Royal Affair'. I thought at the time she exuded both acting chops and sensuality out of every pore and would be a real monster if she ever went international--which she definitely has, both here and in 'Ex Machina'. Though I have never seen the TV series, I felt the camaraderie between the stars was refreshing, the car chases and other stunts were excellent, and, in a year most saturated with spy films (thankfully, for enthusiasts such as I), although it tanked at the box office, I for one hope it becomes a franchise. Why put the brakes on a good thing?...

Finally an excellent, fun filled, sexy, well directed movie! Not too much violence which is great and some wonderful acting by some hopefully up and coming actors/actresses. Guy R has nailed it again of course and the soundtrack was excellent. So tired of the typical American movie with the same annoying and unappealing actors/actresses who are so called comedians and are constantly recast over and over again in every movie that come out of the USA. Finally a gorgeous Swede, some handsome Americans, some fun sexual tension between characters, great acting, wonderful scenes, excellent actors playing the bad guys, some wonderful Italians in the movie too. Very diverse cast and I really hope Guy R continues with the series. I look forward to the upcoming shows!

Have the Daniel Craig Jones for the next James Bond to come out? This reboot of the old TV series provides an adequate fix that captures enough period style, acting, and action to tide one over with a cloak and dagger appetizer worthy to stand up to the spy movie staple entree it admirably emulates.

Joyous, clever, piece of quality froth. The chemistry between the leads combined with the outfits, and the leads joking about outfits, left me with the sweetest smile. The plot is lightweight, yes, but completely consistent with what we saw in The Man From Uncle in the 60's.

The Man From UNCLE is an action/spy thriller starring Henry Cavill, Armie Hammer, Alicia Vikander and is directed by Guy Ritchie. Set in 1963 the film revolves around American spy Napoleon Solo (Cavill) and the need for him to work together with his Russian counterpart Ilya Kuriakin (Hammer), in order to uncover a nefarious plot taking place in and around Southern Italy by some ****, using the daughter of one of them, Gaby Teller (Vikander), as a means to work their way in. The film is well directed and acted, has some excellent set-pieces and moves along at a decent pace. The main stars are all as gorgeous as they are required to be, and it does feel like a very 'romantic' view of what the television show it's based on was about. The film blends action and comedy well, with the on-screen chemistry between the three stars really visible, whether at the height of the action between the two male leads, or the sometimes awkward back and forth conversations between them and the female lead. It's not laugh out loud, nor is the action so spectacular you finish watching and need 10 minutes for your heart-rate to come back down. Overall, the positives are that it's a good all round piece of cinema, and sets itself up nicely for potential sequels. It's not all good though because, as per usual, the film uses modern day sensibilities which didn't actually exist in the period the film is actually set. No one smokes, there's no inherent sexism or racism, every locale is portrayed as fantastically 'polished', to the point it looks almost sterile. All the cars look like they've just strayed from some retro photoshoot for expensive Italian chocolates, rather than looking like actual vehicles being used everyday... I find these things extremely ****, as there are films from the era... Made in the same place(s), which the film-makers could have used to get a more realistic interpretation of the environment, beyond just the clothes people wore, and the make/model of cars they drove. But, that's a personal issue I have, and if it doesn't bother you add 2 points to the score!

I recall the 1960s TV show barely but viewed this without any regard for whether it's true to the TV show or not. The trailer for this movie misleadingly makes it look really good, but do not be fooled. It is pretty mediocre until the last half hour. Henry Cavill is handsome but has zero personality in this, and that is a big big problem. The Russian guy is much better. I had thought the two would be competing for the woman's favor throughout to add a little fun pizzaz, but no. Cavill shows no interest; it's as if he knows he's too boring for her. The whole film is done in a manner that is very stiff and rigid. Nothing really flows organically. I've never before seen a movie that was bad in the peculiar way that this movie is bad. And of course like many films today, it was significantly too long given the amount of story it had to deliver. An hour and forty five minutes would have been plenty. They could have cut out a chunk in the middle. If you are just dying to see a spy story and there's nothing else available, then rent this. Otherwise make another choice. The latest Mission Impossible or James Bond. I've seen them both and they both beat this.

A movie that contains more style than even the James Bond franchise itself. A movie with a glorious cast, tangible chemistry, polished cinematography, witty dialogue and a clever plot. A movie which has an impeccably fitting soundtrack which will find its place in your player. And it got only a 56 from critics? I am sorry, but such critics should find some occupation more suitable for them, like cleaning litter from the streets or selling their bodies for money. This right here is Guy Ritchie at his finest, a great movie I could recommend to anyone I know and I don't, so please, disregard the negative reviews and do give it a shot, just for the sake of forming an opinion of your own, and the chances are high that you are, in fact, going to thoroughly enjoy it. I sincerely hope that despite the box-office struggling the Man from U.N.C.L.E. will get a sequel.

Entertaining and breezy spy caper is well acted and fun, but is too niche to become a mainstream hit. Great chemistry between the casts and some wicked soundtrack made this flick a good rental. Also, a surprisingly subdued Guy Ritchie at the helm is also a plus. Yet another great turn by Alicia Vikander in 2015; the Ex-Machina star shines again as a 'femme fatale', and an equal to the 'boys'.

Great! I loved every minute of it! An action film that's so enjoyable and pleasant that actually lifts you! I loved the humor in it as well. I hope they make a sequel! The actor's performances were suburb and beautiful! We certainly need more of these entertaining films. Thank you for the exciting experience down memory lane, but this film is even more captivating every way around!

A pretty terrible movie. Guy Ritchie is a fine director and the 60's atmosphere was done well, but the story was awful and we've seen it all before. I loved the TV series when I was a kid and this completely fails to capture the spirit and fun of the show. Get some original ideas, Hollywood!
