With such a stellar cast, I was pretty disappointed. The dialogue with each of the main characters did nothing for character development whatsoever. It was the most shallow endeavor to display any single body that was on this movie that I've ever seen. I would have to say my favorite Woody Allen movie is "The Curse of the Jade Scorpion" because it developed the main characters through each and every interaction, and a great deal of that was through dialogue, humor, and mystery. This failed short on every aspect to make something interesting just... blah. All of the wardrobe and landscaping for a Woody Allen film may have been there with a few quips and quotes, but the substance was most definitely lacking.

I cannot tell you how many times I've watched this movie! This isn't going to be one of those deep reviews; suffice it to say when you find a movie that you can add to your library and watch over and over again, you've found a jewel! The chemistry between the three main actors is spectacular, and this movie has it all: comedy, romance and action... not to mention the music adds to the flare :) I really enjoy this movie for a lighthearted watch, and it's one of those movies you watch when you're sick in bed, too. We all have those go-to movies, and this is one to have that is easy and fun to see when you don't want to overwork your brain & just take it easy...

Okay... "Lucy;" i.e. "Lucifer" terribly trying to cover up a plot that is completely hinged on darkness and light, and if anyone wants to buy that feeble attempt at the end where Lucy and the monkey touch fingers, which I don't think is in homage to E.T. (lol, kidding) but to the painting of Adam to His creator, then this is just plain mockery to God in every way. I give it a two b/c I doubt I'll every give a movie a zero or for that matter a one, so this is about as low as it gets for me unless absolutely no thought, effects, or anything is put into it at all. The silly thing is that humans do use 100 percent of our brains, we just only use about 10% at a time because our brain has so many different functionality to access - it's like saying that cooking and mathematics and sex can all be done at once perfectly when they require different parts of our stimuli and brain, so the concept is half-hearted at best with a huge splash of blaspheme.

The movie is just cute enough to be a 5 because Sam Rockwell is one of the best actors I know; otherwise, five it would have held at for sure. Anna Kendrick's character is just too childish, no matter how "kooky" Sam's character is, I still think a more mature woman would have filled out all of his needs, charm, and sensibilities in the movie. Every good actor needs their counterpart to challenge them, and, unfortunately, I think Anna Kendrick just isn't seasoned enough (yet) to be in league with the likes of Sam Rockwell. This movie could have been really awesome with a Keira Knightley if you wanted to go with a more sexy route or a Melissa McCarthy if you wanted to stay on the comical route... the same clean-cut as with Kendrick... oh what might have been! DUMB ENDINGS always deserve a knock-off, which is why it goes back to a five...

This movie has a little bit of everything... and everybody - if you like all-star casts - but most importantly, is it the most entertaining of educations in recent history and an ongoing market travesty that everyone needs to be made at least somewhat aware. This movie takes complex terms and issues, and not only puts them in laymen terms, but uses pictographs, definitions, literally spelled out for you on screen, the most gorgeous, well-known celebrities from all venues to break down those terms for you in a different market altogether, i.e. the food industry or gambling in Las Vegas on the odds, etc., and that's just the side show. Everyone can find a piece of themselves in the oddities in one of these major characters that represent real people who happened to foresee the bubble before it happened. A relationship between the way the world has changed within us and, in this particular, financially, is so gripping that we all find ourselves helplessly watching, relating, and needing to know how this all happened in greater detail. No, it's not a movie that makes us want to rejoice; it's a sobering look into the future, and I find that, in a word, hopeful, because knowledge is power. Don't throw this one out of your mind as the credits roll... let it seep in, and take you where it will...

Emma Stone's character is just a mix of those in "Magic in the Moonlight" and "Birdman." Her predictability really bothered me while watching the movie. Making it even harder to watch, she and Joaquin Phoenix have absolutely no chemistry whatsoever, which would have helped make it a bit more believable considering the plot. I got so distracted and uninterested, what was supposed to be an interesting end just didn't move me at all. I guess I'm not a Woody Allen fan...
