I understood and figured out what was going on about halfway through the movie when the reveal slowly begins, but I admit to being really confused at first (in a good, very curious way). Really interesting plot and premise. Sound design seemed to be substandard. Sometimes it was difficult for me to understand what people were saying. Great performances from the cast helped with immersion even as the craziness of it all sometimes made me take a step back as I tried to figure things out. Some missteps and plot holes serve to keep this as good, but not great. Would probably watch it again, just to see it once more from a perspective of knowing how everything fits together.

A big disappointment after the awesome first movie. The film starts off well enough, but it drags and slows down after the opening and gets... boring. I figured out the plot easy enough within the first 20 minutes after the opening scene. I was checking my phone halfway through to help keep myself awake (we watched at night), which I don't normally do when watching movies. Super corny, campy, and sometimes even downright stupid. Seriously. Some of the special effects scenes are also very... old-timey (obviously fake) and weird. When using CGI, you should never call the audience's attention to the fact that green screens are being used... it's that bad. Movies using special effects should always try to make it realistic and believable. This one fails at it. Heavy on the messaging, which is nice enough in these tough times, but a little too heavy and lots of spoon-feeding. Will never watch this again and I'm glad I didn't spend money to see it in theaters.

Loved it. Excellent music score. Interesting plot and world, some aspects of which are quite realistic and could potentially occur in the future. Great characters with real relationships and developments. Very moving, emotional, and intellectual - particularly in getting much of the science right. Definitely lived up to the hype and is worth watching. Beautiful cinematography and of course superb special effects.

Lots of recognizable faces and big names in this, which was fun to see as they all interacted. Not much else to see here. Not as humorous as it seemed it would be, but there are definitely some funny moments. Interesting to see some of the backstage goings-on of an older movie-making era. As other reviews have stated, not much character development and neither is there a substantial plot. It was not worth seeing in the theaters.

Easily one of the best Disney movies I've ever watched, and that's saying something. Surprisingly deeper and more complex than one would expect from an animated movie seemingly geared towards children. A true film for all ages, particularly even better for teens and up because some of what they're alluding to or discussing on screen would definitely fly over the heads of kids. Great writing and voice acting, as expected from Disney, and wonderful animation and art direction. If I could rate it 11/10, I would.

Highly entertaining for most of the movie. There were some rough patches in the dialogue, along with a few forced and not-as-funny-as-they-thought jokes and scenes, but overall it was a surprisingly solid experience. The bar was definitely set fairly high and, while not a full-on Deadpool comics fan, I am fond of superhero comics and Marvel comics in particular so it was fantastic to see a spot-on Deadpool performance from Ryan Reynolds. I think he actually was born to play this role. It was also very refreshing and fun to see the full potential of a superhero movie with an R-rating. 10/10 would watch again and would recommend to friends. Though, if they were any true friend of mine, they'd have already seen it...

When I saw the trailers for this movie, I was not at ALL interested in seeing it. The art and the whole idea of the movie did not appeal to me and so I never watched it even though I had heard some people say it was pretty good. Ended up watching this on a long-haul flight across the Pacific and boy was I very much impressed with it. It's very well written and the animation is of course top-notch. The fact that it serves as a real commentary on life and how there's always going to be ups and downs and it's okay to be sad and so many other very real and compelling themes... anyway, long story short: a fantastic movie by Pixar and definitely worth a watch.

Great movie. Excellent effects and direction. Matt Damon's acting was on point. It's a mostly serious movie with some humor here and there to lighten it so that it's not too crushingly sad or daunting. Pleasantly surprised to see Donald Glover in the movie - did not realize he was in it until I actually saw him on screen. The science is very accurate as far as I can tell, which I'm a **** for with these particular types of movies. Overall, a great effort and entertaining to watch at least once.

The reboot to the TV show is actually a lot better than my original expectations. The characters are great and the acting is fairly good from the two male leads - the female lead was okay, but could have done better I think. Lots of fun dialogue and events. Not too many action sequences, surprisingly, although it IS a spy movie so I suppose that spies aren't exactly supposed to be getting into too many fights what with trying to do things covertly and all. Highly entertaining and I do recommend watching it if you like humorous but still semi-serious spy movies.

Not as amazing as I expected it to be, but still good and entertaining. Both a strength and weakness is in how heavily it relies on callbacks to the previous films, particularly Episode IV: A New Hope, which it closely mimics in terms of major plot points and even imagery. The fight scenes are better than I thought they would be, which is great since I'm big into action. The special effects, of course, are lightyears beyond what Lucasarts did with the original trilogy, making the whole thing more believable and immersive. The biggest strength is undoubtedly the excellent performances of the new characters, in particular Oscar Isaac's Po and Daisy Ridley's Rey. I will admit that I was the least impressed with Boyega's portrayal of Finn. Maybe it is the way the character is written, but it simply did not seem right to me. BB-8 is of course the adorable little robot that everybody wants to have nowadays, and had a number of fun moments. There are more than a few plot holes, questionable actions by characters, and seemingly dumb plot points that, as a long-time Star Wars fan, I am ready to forgive simply because the overall package was still a good enough beginning to the next saga of Star Wars.

Pretty good cast. Lots of forced humor, though there are some truly funny bits here and there. Action is meh... I was not a fan of the fast-forwarding action parts, but the slow-mo action was nice and some of the fight choreography was sweet. For the most part the fights were a let down though. There's significant gore/dismemberment. Theres a sprinkling of parkour in here as well. Had difficulty a handful of times understanding what the bloody hell the actors were saying, but it was for the most part understandable. Some of the dry British humor and jokes went over my head (and most of the audiences, judging from the amount of laughter at some parts and complete lack of them in others where it was apparently supposed to be a funny scene). Overall, not terrible but not great.

Typical retired spy movie with some typical spy/secret agent drama. Pierce Brosnan does a decent enough job at performing as an older shadow of his previous role as agent 007. The intrigue is not as predictable as I initially thought because there IS a little twist to it. Otherwise, it's run-of-the-mill spy stuff except without a lot of fancy high-tech gadgets. Some cool visuals, other than that not much good to say. The main character, Lucy, basically becomes a god and if it wasn't for the fact that there wouldn't be much of a story or a movie if she actually dealt with all the challenges they faced head-on (which she definitely could have done) she probably would have if this were real. I dislike the false science about the brain, but I know it couldn't be helped because that false science is the foundation upon which the entire movie stands. As an aside, before I learned about what this movie was about, I honestly thought this was a live-action take on the anime show Lucy, which it has some similarities to.

As one reviewer has already mentioned, Angelababy (Angela Yeung) is lovely to watch and helps make this movie more enjoyable than it already is. The silly antics continue in this sequel with even more fight scenes and the addition of more characters, albeit shallow ones. I have to agree with the other reviewers and critics that the plot and script are still strange and arguably bad, particularly with the steampunk elements, but I still found myself entertained by the film. They definitely could have done a much better job on developing the romance of the main characters, mainly because it was rushed as if they were simply checking it off their list and then moving on to the next part of the movie. Not terrible, but not great either.

I didn't expect to like this movie, but I do. Silly, fun, and with some nice fight sequences, this film struck me as very odd at first because of some anime-style or comicbook-style visuals, a silent movie sequence, and a dash of steampunk. There are some notable martial arts actors and actresses in this movie as well, although their presence doesn't help much to bolster the film in terms of substance since there isn't much here. Much, much better than I anticipated, and already thought it would be a good movie going into it. The characters are quirky, interesting, and best of all lovable. The usual fun banter and chemistry between all the cast that is typical of Marvel movies nowadays is present. While it definitely put a lot more emphasis on being funny, this movie doesn't skimp on the action, though admittedly some of the sequences could have been better. Stunning visual effects are par for the course nowadays for these superhero movies, and this movie is no exception. The on-screen chemistry of Owen and Vince, to me, is as usual excellent in this film. In terms of laughs - this one had some not-so-funny moments but for the most part I found it entertaining and amusing. I am also admittedly a big Google fan so it was nice to see more of their campus - though a lot of information revealed about it I already knew about beforehand, it was still nice to actually see it. The romance part of the film seemed a bit forced, as if they needed to check that box off as part of their checklist to complete the movie, but it was not exactly a bad thing. Shot in a documentary-style with lots of jumping around and "live"/recorded camera feeds from the ship and from a handheld, which isn't a type of movie I generally like but I gave this a chance. The pacing and the order of things seemed a little jumbled and confused in the beginning but got better towards the middle I think they jumped around way too much. Arguably it did add to more to the mystery of what happened during the mission as well as helped to build some further tension, but I think the pacing and order of the scenes could have been done much better. The performances by the cast were actually very good, and the characters did have some depth to them. That said there were a lot of strange actions, much involving plain disregard for protocols and safety measures that astronauts training for deep space missions would simply not do. While evident that the budget wasn't exactly big, I think they did a good job with this movie. But the fact that I don't really like documentary-type films plus my dislike of the pacing, scene-order, and parts of the plot knock the rating down for me. Watchable and entertaining for the most part, but not exactly a movie I'd tell someone they have to see.

As one reviewer said the fight choreography was subpar and that same reviewer pointed out that it was extremely similar plot to Immortals (and he's right!).
