A simple, nostalgic return to the Kanto region, offers little if you are a series veteran eager for complexity and challenge. But if that's not your main interest, Pokemon Let's Go has it all! It's a simple, cute and fun game that will keep you hooked for hours. An excellent starting point for newcomers, and a great nostalgia trip for those in a search for one.

If you've got a kid in your life who's never played Pokémon before? Buy this game immediately. [Issue #37 – January/February 2019, p. 67]

It’s hard to make sense of the game that’s basically a Switch port of iOS/Android remake of Pokemon Red/Green. Is it a step forward, step backward – or maybe just a shameless cash-in? Turns out, it’s a great remake – the world looks exactly as we imagined it back when we were staring at black and white pixels of original Red/Green. [Issue#235, p.44]

I really like this game at all like why battle Pokémon trainers, and the gym leaders, and the elite four and not wild pokemon yea sure just replace the the battling with pokemon to a time catching mini game I feel the people who made this though “oh they will love it” but when some people like myself hate this game I feel like the people who made this said “ oh let’s make the battle system just like the pokemon let’s go on the mobile devices” and why make your starter pokemon op like there no need for catching pokemon only to just catch them so you can do the gym leaders battle while your starter Pokemon is super over powered

This game was my first physical pokemon game ever. The first one I ever played was I think either pokemon red or blue on my cousin's phone that overheated all the time. Going back to the review itself, I really enjoyed it even though I remember I didn't like the clothes they had or how to beat the game so I just fought minibosses all the time without ever finishing. All and all I would say it's pretty solid but would I ever pick up a nintendo switch again for it? Absolutely not, thank you very much.

Whether it's your Pokémon entry point or you're returning to Kanto yet again, Pokémon Let's Go is for everyone. The lame motion controls aside, this is adventure perfection, not once feeling jaded after dozens of hours' play.

This review is tinged with a bit of nostalgia, but I was thoroughly impressed with Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! Fresh, improved, and streamlined! Having played my first Pokémon game in the 90s, this is a delightful revisit of the original Red, Blue, and Yellow games. Gone are the clunky PC boxes and game-breaking glitches. The simple roster of Pokémon with sensibly improved movepools enhances the experience without overcomplicating it. Great pleasant graphics & impressive soundtrack re-masters. As someone who has enjoyed other Pokémon games, this one is perfect for 90's kids who wish to revisit Kanto in a familiar yet refreshing way. I can't commend it enough. While I understand the criticism, for me, the positives far outweigh the negatives. The new capture mechanic, which I initially thought would be bothersome, turned out to be quite addicting! The only improvement I would welcome, is including cross-generational (pre)evolutions such as Crobat, Bellossom, Politoed, Magmortar, and Electivire. 10/10 – A balanced, simple, and fun game!

If the premise as a whole seems off-putting to you, I’d recommend giving it some time and seeing if you enjoy the game more once Kanto opens up.

Pokemon Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee are delightful reimaginings of the series' origins and a deep RPG in their own right. It makes a lot of smart improvements on the original Red, Blue and Yellow while holding on to what made them so special in the first place. Fans of the series might be let down by the lack of features they've come to expect, but Let's Go Pikachu and Let's Go Eevee take the Pokemon formula in some exciting new directions.

The game does a superb job of striking a balance between being an easy route of entry for newcomers to the series and offering just enough post-game challenge and competitive play elements (and nostalgia, of course) to please series veterans; as a result, these new titles really do offer something for everyone, which can't always be said of the mainline Pokémon entries. They might not be an absolute masterpiece, but we’d urge any Poké-fans out there to give these ones a go – if a Let’s Go Johto sequel is on the cards, we’ll happily be there waiting in line.

As a first adventure for beginners, young or old, this gets a lot right. No alarms, then, but a fair few surprises. [Jan 2019, p.119]

For what is supposed to be the next step forward for Pokémon, Pokémon: Let’s Go Pikachu! feels like it has taken a few steps back. While there are aspects of the game I do enjoy, there are also glaring issues that I cannot just ignore. Ultimately, Pokémon: Let’s Go, Pikachu! needlessly simplifies core mechanics in a series that does not require such streamlining.

A good game i do think the game is a little bit too easy (because of the multi exp) the way that we capture pokemon is okay i think, and its overall a good game most of this because it takes place in kalos

I highly dislike this game. Thats for 2 major reasons: A it's another boring, un interesting, and boiler plate Pokemon game with not much new.
B, The fact that you're required to use a single joycon with terrible controls is such a stupid decision and makes the game that much worse.
SummaryCatch Pokémon Like Never Before. The Poké Ball Plus is a Poké Ball-shaped device that can be used to play Pokémon: Let's Go, Pikachu! and Pokémon: Let's Go, Eevee! in place of your Joy-Con. You'll be able to throw Poké Balls in-game with a flick of your wrist! In addition to motion controls, the device lights up with a variety of colors,... Read More
