The jump to a new console hasn't done all that much for visuals in general, but the game is undoubtedly neater and smoother than it once was. [Issue#148, p.115]

As a devoted, long-time fan of the Dynasty Warriors series, I can confidently state that Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends represents the absolute high point of the franchise. The biggest draw of this installment is the sheer, overwhelming abundance of content, particularly the huge variety of characters, coupled with an extensive selection of weapons and customizable abilities. For players who are already familiar with the story through previous titles, it is a truly rewarding experience, especially since many characters previously relegated to supporting roles or NPCs are now fully playable warriors with their own unique paths. However, an honest assessment requires addressing the perspective of a newcomer. Someone playing the series for the very first time would likely not award this game a score of 9, primarily due to the significantly outdated graphics and the somewhat superficial historical narrative, which I believe is quite challenging for a new player to fully grasp. Despite these caveats, one fact remains clear and undeniable: anyone who is a fan of the Hack and Slash genre will find immense enjoyment in this game. It delivers hours upon hours of addictive, satisfying action that exemplifies the best elements of the genre.

The sheer weight of content that is packed into the game can't be understated; this is a big, chunky game that demands a lot of time to work all the way through it, but every step of the way is a truly entertaining one.

Simply speaking, what you’re getting here is a good, polished expansion to an already good game that was absolutely bursting with content to begin with.

The precursor to many of the amazing Musou games we would get next generation (Baring is sequel, ironicly) DW8 is the culmination of all the games that came before it and is a blast. Still the same formula people either learn and love, or cant figure out and decide they hate the game with a vengeance. Interesting game that actually very basic but still to different for many western customer that they just,, dont,, get ,,it.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition is complete by name and complete by nature, with lots of extra content to explore. Technically, however, it is an extremely bland debut of the series on PlayStation 4.

If you’re eyeing up the PlayStation 3 version of Xtreme Legends then I can’t strongly recommend it. New characters are always great, as are new stages, but the lack of thought put into the addition to Ambition Mode is disappointing to say the least.

Dynasty Warriors 8: Xtreme Legends Complete Edition has as much content as its name implies, and it’s the most stable the series has ever been. While it provides some mindless, button-mashing fun, it's still incredibly repetitive.

A classic Dynasty Warriors game with a lot of content and a lot of repetitive fights... This series really needs to evolve.

It's more Dynasty Warriors. That's about all that can be said. A power trip taking place in ancient China during the Romance of the Three Kingdoms. Fight through literal thousands of faceless mooks are you charge your way to the enemy commander and beat the snot out of them as well. I'm generalizing, but you get my gist. If you tried out any of the other Musou games and didn't like them, unless you tried out 9 first, then you probably won't like this. If you did enjoy any of the previous games, then this will probably be a blast with the same gameplay loop you're used too. Personally, it's a 10 from me, but I'm also biased in favor of the series. If you have been wanting to try out the series, I'd recommend this one.

The amount of game you get is impressive, Complete and no need for the DLC which is meaningless to the game. Finally a publisher gets it right. On that note, the game is the same ole game everyone has come to know dynasty warriors for. Button pusher, hack and slash game that seems to never get old.

Another Dynasty Warrior game? They could have at least made it in a higher resolution. If I didn't like the Romance Of Three Kingdoms series and the games based on that story I would have given this game a 5 and go on a rant about how unimaginative and lazy game developers are! If you're new to Dynasty Warriors here's the basic rundown of the game: You have 3 kingdoms to choose from, lots of characters with different fighting styles, you hack and slash your way through hundreds of enemies until you control all three kingdoms. I know what to expect from these games, but you may not. If you're new to the Dynasty Warriors series, my advice is to rent it first if you're able to.

Although I wouldn't quite give it a 1, I have to agree with another reviewer here. I played this game years ago on console and expected this to be an actual Next-gen graphics game, albeit with the same type of hack and slash gameplay. Nope. The graphics look dated. The resolution is locked at 720p and if I try to run this game in windowed mode, I can't even decide what size the window is. The animations are as wooden as I recalled them to be, no next-gen physics either. And the tutorial? Well find the "Arrow + Horse" button on your gamepad. Or like it says press the "sword button." Really? I played this game for hours on end in its earlier reincarnation on console, so it's not like I didn't know what type of game to expect, to the point where I remember the sounds... That's right they haven't updated those either. I'm so disappointed to have spent the money on this "new version" yet I hardly see anyone mention just how unbelievably unchanged this game is.

Same old doodah with no improvements from the very first game. I guess I'm one of those people who hate this game series, as none of the previous instalments have struck a chord either. It's just frustratingly boring. If you care about ancient Chinese history... Well... Buy a history book, because you'll get the details much faster that way. Also, you won't break your thumb pressing the square button approximately 2.6 million times to beat this game. What a waste of time.
