Yakuza 6: The Song of Life9
Apr 19, 2018
Great game, great story. Graphics and controls have improved massively from Yakuza 0. Especially the camera improvements are a massive QoL surge. However, the combat system feels a bit repetitive, as there is only one stance to play with (as opposed to three in Yakuza 0). This alone may cause some people to stop playing after a while. There is virtually no depth to the combat anymore. While you can use the environment to your advantage more than in previous installments, weapons and the like feel pretty toothless. It's just easier to grab and swing a human than a traffic cone... I personally like the updated level up system. In Yakuza 0 you were forced to grind hours on end for cash on both characters to max out your stats, but in Yakuza 6 you get points to level up for every single activity, including eating.

Monster Hunter: World6
Feb 13, 2018
After playing for a week-or-so, I can't shake the feeling of emptiness in the game as a whole. There are monsters, check. There are weapons and armor, check. There are items that fill up my inventory quicker than it has any place filling up, check. But, there are also very artificial ways to indicate and/or slow progress that distract you from the lack of interesting things to do, as well as repetitiveness, for only so long. But, then what? The multiplayer aspects feel half-arsed, with no real feeling of playing together. Rather, your pals help you out when you're too weak to handle yourself... Okay then... The game also gets very repetitive, very fast. I like grinding for meaningful stuff, but in MH:W, you just end up grinding ONE monster for ONE drop that allows you to make ONE weapon. I can't really put my finger on it, but it feels... meaningless. To put it in other words, you "hunt" for one specific item to make any progress and everything else that happens (other drops, other events) is utterly pointless. Summa summarum, I have big time buyers regret. Other's, be aware.

Kingdom Come: Deliverance9
Feb 13, 2018
Detailed, difficult and realistic, as promised. Kingdom Come is surely for the more hardcore-minded RPG players, and frankly, not for the younger generation whose only RPG so far has been Skyrim, Witcher 3 or both. However, this game is everything I hoped it would be, and I couldn't be happier. Storytelling is on point, albeit the game starts with the same premise as just about every other 80's movie. It's not a bad thing by any means; more like a tried and true approach. The game just **** you in from the start, and you hunger to explore all the nooks in the environment. The battle mechanics are a breath of fresh air, and realistic. For example, if you're wearing plain clothes and a looter hits you with a sword, you're done. But, don some proper armor, and you'll be fine. In every other game, your armor makes negligible difference, as the timing of blocks, parries and dodges makes for more exciting game play. Not in KC:D. **** comes at you with a knife and you're wearing undies, you are dead. I love it. There are somethings to get used to in the environment, though. For example, not everything is lootable as with many of the predecessors, and the things that are lootable don't really stick out. For example, you can find a barrel of arrows right next to a barrel of halberds, but only the arrows are lootable. Contrary to this intuition, you can pick up a bow just propped at a corner, but not an axe stuck to a tree trunk. A lot of people also complain about lock picking mechanics, which are not that intuitive. That is to say, they do not follow the same logic as in Skyrim for example, but it takes only a few tries to master the mechanic. With a little fine tuning on consoles, there should be no gripes there either. Overall, it's these little things that prevent me from giving a 10/10, while I ignore the current bugs in the game. And let's be honest, there are a LOT of bugs. If you are bothered by performance issues and expect to play a perfectly fine-tuned game, I'd recommend waiting a month or two for the devs to iron everything out.

Repetitive when played solo. Marvelous when played coop. In all honestly, this is the best coop game in years, definitely the best of 2017. Sneaking, scouting and sniping is an absolute blast with three buddies. Helicopters with mounted turrets are just magnificent fun, especially in side missions where you have to attack a moving target. There is also a lot, and I mean A LOT, of content to be cleared so you need to mark down months of coop time to go platinum coop. However, while there are a lot of missions, they are also very repetitive. Especially the side missions. As a single player game, this would be about 6/10, mostly because it gets very tedious to finish everything alone. The story on itself doesn't hold up your interest enough to rush through the content to "see what happens". In fact, there is very little story or RPG elements to begin with. Summa summarum, play it coop (if you have any friends).

Pretty much a perfect game, and certainly the best game of 2017. Everything from graphics, to story, to characters, to music, to battle mechanics, to quality of life features like fast-forwarding, is just magnificent. Really, the only gripe I have is the inconsistencies in dungeon length and safe room locations. But, with that said, it's more **** gud -type of problem.

Bungie is making a valiant effort in the race for the biggest middle finger to gamers in 2017 against EA. Do not spend any of your money on this "DLC". The "campaign" is finished in less than two hours, and most added content is in the Eververse, making it effectively behind ANOTHER paywall. To make matters worse, people who do not buy this ... thing... are locked out of end game content, including Nightfalls. Despicable.

Play it co-op. If you don't have buddies to play with, don't bother. This game is silly fun, but only when you have others with you to share the frustrating aspects of it all. Firstly, it's absolutely riddled with bugs, where you might suddenly die for no reason from full health, weapons disappearing if your inventory is full, graphical glitches, and getting stuck behind obstacles and NPC's. In the multiplayer mode, there are a bunch of silly design flaws that are just frustrating. Taking up and finishing a quest is not shared between all players, and you have to communicate verbally what you did. As above, trading an item with full inventory will result in that item being destroyed back to ether. Waypoints are not shared between all players, and so forth. Lastly, the abysmal frame rate in the remake (30fps I believe) combined with the screen blurring when running gives me a headache after a while. Bottom line, there are better single player zombie games out there, but for the price this collection is at, it is a very decent co-op venture.

Mad Max10
Jun 6, 2017
Mad Max is absolutely a great game. While it asks you to do hundreds of tasks throughout the game that follow the same basic formula, none, I repeat NONE, of the tasks are exact carbon copies of each other like in other open-world games. This is achieved by the fact that all locations, and I mean ALL of them, are completely different. Basically, you never feel like you have done the same thing twice, except you have done it a hundred times but differently. This is the beauty of this game, and what makes it so enjoyable. The combat system is also great, but requires some getting used to. While it is a rhythm-based combat system akin to Batman games, there are clear tactics for each enemy horde on how to beat them clean, or get beaten up. Every fight also feels a bit different from the next one, even if there are only a handful of different enemies. Driving is marvelous, and extremely responsive. Weaponry on the cars is highly enjoyable to use as well. Lastly, it is Mad Max. It really is difficult to find anything negative to say about this game, except that I want more of it. (The "professional" reviewers are, again, full of it).

Tales from the Borderlands: A Telltale Game Series7
May 18, 2017
The first three episodes are quality gaming. Great soundtrack, great writing, and actually funny. BUT, apparently someone decided to reallocate the development money for the last two episodes to something else, and the quality of the content drops dramatically. Add to that the numerous graphic and voiceover glitches, the fifth episode was actually worth only 3/10. It's a huge shame, as this series could have been much more than it ended up being.

EDF is a marvellous game, with tons and tons of content. You shoot millions of insects, robots, godzillas and dragons with a huge variety of guns. What is there not to like. The graphics are last gen, but when you see the true amount of enemies on your screen, you'll understand why. The only real gripe I have is that the FOV is not adjustable and too narrow, which kills you more often than it should.

Honestly, a bit underwhelming for a DLC. I was hoping that this would have added some single player campaign as well for the French, but apparently it did not. There are some new challenges in multiplayer to sink your teeth into, but it still feels too little. The only challenges that take considerable time are unlocking the new melee weapons, which you have to do by killing a bunch of enemies with a specific melee weapon you already have. Not terribly satisfying, to be honest. The new maps and game mode are OK. Not great, just OK, that is, I won't be changing my main game mode from Conquest to Frontlines any time soon.

Mass Effect: Andromeda7
Mar 26, 2017
After +20 hours played. Andromeda is a fair successor to the ME trilogy. Don't get me wrong, it is not a great successor, just fair. The characters and writing are not nearly as bad as many first hour user reviews lead on. In fact, I personally quite enjoy the story so far, and the characters are easily distinguishable, albeit, after 20 hours of gameplay, I really like only two of them. That's one less than in the whole ME trilogy. I also enjoy the flippant version of Ryder quite a lot, and I think the writing of the main character is great. Combat is OK, but not great. The cover system seems unfinished and on some areas there is virtually no viable cover available, making the battles pretty one sided. There is something oddly clunky about going in and out of cover as well, mostly because it is not always obvious what is a cover and what is not. I haven't messed around with the skills that much yet, but they seem to work as expected. Graphics is a major gripe for lot of the red naysayers, and let's be honest, the animations look horrible. Coming from titles like Horizon, it's like looking at a PS3 game. The faces are just plain bad, and there is no excuse for that considering you spend 40% of your time looking at one. The exploration is a bit of a hit and miss. On one hand, you are constantly wondering what you're going to encounter, but on the other hand, the free space exploration is dumbed down to pointless. The mini game of resource farming from planets is really, really, pointless from space, and mining on the rover is a huge pain. But, I like diving into new areas, and see what I can find, and that part is done well in this game. Besides this, there are game crashing bugs riddled across the board, that are frustrating. Luckily I've only had a couple of minutes off roll-back so far, but I'm saving a great deal more often after crash number five.

NieR: Automata9

Standout music and SFX, and surprisingly awesome story. The two gripes I really have with this game is, firstly, the battle system on foot, which is at times a bit too much. On the other hand, it is a breath of fresh air for a life-long gamer, albeit, I never could shake the feeling that the system is actively working against me, due to having to use most of my fingers to optimize each battle outcome, and struggling with all the cr*p on the screen during bigger fights. Secondly, the game isn't visually the best, and the FOV is at times frustratingly narrow/short. I can understand if some of the choices here were made to optimize performance, but the game does not actually *look* like a 2017 title. Not a big deal considering the aspects in the plus-column. Definitely worth buying through.

Horizon Zero Dawn7

Honest and unpaid review here. Firstly, is it worth buying? Yes, unless you have not played Witcher 3 and its DLC's. This is not a bad game by any means, but more like a bootleg version of Legos with the prettiest packaging known to mankind. The game looks stunning, that is for sure. However, for an action RPG, the story is remarkably uninspiring. Take, for example, that one NPC could have blown the lid open on the whole plot within one hour of game play, but chose instead to say "This is a story for a later time". Jesus.... The writing is just too lazy, with plot holes the size of craters. It does not help that the NPCs and dialogues are completely forgettable, and to be honest kind of creepy. Combat system is OK, and interesting at first, but gets extremely repetitive later on. This is not alleviated by the low variety of weapons either, where you basically play with four arch type weapons with elemental effect modifiers, but still spend 90% of the time on your basic bow.

Not a horrible game, but not good either. The battle system, against all other opinions, is very much based on either luck, button mashing, or double/triple/quadruple teaming enemies. Duels are good fun, if you can ignore the fact that you'll be at the mercy of you and your opponents network speed, and slight class imbalance. Yeah, the most insane aspect of it all is the P2P multiplayer on a game, where reaction time should determine the outcome of a duel. Sheesh.... It's amazing that the devs explained in one of the tutorial videos "how to win 2v1", while they obviously designed the game mechanics only to really work in duels. There really is nothing more frustrating in this game than trying to switch targets, which is amazing considering that the whole game is frustrating. Besides the above, the maps are small, unimaginative, and quite frankly boring. It'll be a decent purchase during summer sales, but otherwise, I'd advice everyone to save their money for some of the more promising AAA titles coming out in a month or so.

And holy c*ap, is this game is awesome! I've played about ten hours now, which felt more like ten minutes. I really expected something else, but this is the first time in years and years of gaming that I am positively surprised, and thoroughly entertained. Technically, the game works perfectly. Well done game. The single player campaign is pretty good, although it doesn't hold a candle to Bad Company. Multiplayer is where the heart of this game is. The best part of the multiplayer? It's really mind boggling how well they have captured the essence of real warfare, and what it might have been in WW1. Basically, if you are an idiot who runs around above trenches with their potato grip SMG, you're going to die. If you play smart, and calculate your movements, you'll be consistently at the top of the charts. The less you die, the better your performance. Why this game is not a 10 is that there are some odd design choices. The menus are atrocious, reminiscent of Windows 10, laggy as hell, and lack certain functionalities in key places. It feels like the menus were not properly tested before launch. Secondly, there are some balancing issues currently, that are in no way game breaking, but should be addressed post haste. My personal pet peeve is how strong the medic class is right now in terms to available equipment and guns. Overall, although using the horrendous cash-grab tactics, this is an excellent game.

Destiny: Rise of Iron8
Sep 25, 2016
The point of this DLC really is to push a bit more content for existing players. Sure, it is essentially rehashed locations, enemies, and guns, and only a few new twists in boss/enemy mechanics. But, the whole point is to have *some* new content before Destiny 2. I for one am grateful for that. The story is truly a disappointment, and no way near worth the 30 credits. However, if you play Destiny for the end-game content, gearing up for it, or perhaps for PvP, there is plenty of new things to squeeze out at least 80 hours of gameplay. The new PvP mode in the next Iron Banner will be a blast! Frankly, if you bought this DLC expecting some epic story extension, you're an unwashed ignoramus, and perhaps a noob. For the rest of us, it's pretty much what we would expect. A few more missions would be nice, but there is still NEW THINGS TO DO.

Repetitive, small game in a big sandbox, tech demo, boring. Those are the things you'll hear about this game. You're playing it wrong, it's exactly what was promised, you don't get it. Those are also things that you'll hear about this game. All of these arguments are pointless drivel. My opinion is that this title is one of those that should have been published as a 24h demo, and in order to continue playing you'd have to pay. But, controversy creates cash, and that's good for the small team behind NMS. There is a lot of room for growth in this title, that is for sure, but I personally am able sink hours in the tinkering and exploration while enjoying myself immensely. I don't like knitting, but I imagine my grandma likes knitting for the same reason I like NMS. But here's the thing, I bought this game with an expectation that it will be updated, upgraded, and made better. I don't really want more things, but I want more things to do. My grandma didn't knit socks all the time, she also knit some scarves, and whateverthehell else you can knit. If you read until here, let me give an honest to god helpful hint: Did you spend more time building your base in Fallout 4 than actually playing the core game? If yes, buy NMS. If not, don't.

This game is brilliant! Besides superb gameplay, it has a great character progression, end game, and great maps. It is clearly a multiplayer game, and soloing is either difficult or not too much fun. Some people complain about the lack of couch coop, but the thing is, this game will not play very well on the same screen. The mechanics do not really allow it, and restricting the FOV would be a serious detriment to the game. Giving it a zero because the devs omitted a feature that would break the gameplay is ludicrous, and people who give this game a red score did not even play it.

However which way you argue, this game is PAY2WIN. Sure, you are able to grind all the rewards by just playing the game, but the progress is quite aggravatingly slow. That is, compared to just "loaning" your dad's credit card. Otherwise, the gameplay is quite slow, meaning, the pace of the matches could use a lot of improvement. Right now, it's hard to tell about other balancing issues, but from the first experiences, the heroes seem fine. The card system... it's not good. That's it. Just not good. I guess, you have to have an acquired taste for a slow paced pay2win MOBA, but for the rest of us, it's just not worth the time and money.

Dark Souls III10
Apr 24, 2016
Dark Souls III has it's faults, but despite them, it is a near masterwork. I could go on and on about the good things in this game, but I'll just mention a few gear grinding faults, which do take some of the fun out of the whole experience. - Netcode is poor. It is quite a struggle to play co-op, when being able to connect is more dependent on stars aligning than clicking on all the right settings. Invading is also a such a pain in the arse, it's not even fun. If there is a fight club going, that's great, but try invading and you'll get lag stabbed to oblivion nine out of ten times. - Save the Earth-level of recycling: I do enjoy the continuity in the series, but items, enemies and boss fights feel quite recycled. It just takes that something away from feeling accomplished, when you've done the same thing with different skins many times before. - Balance issues: I'm quite disheartened about the weapon balancing in the current version. Sure, like in all souls games, everyone will have their favorite club to swing, but there two to three weapons that are too OP to be replaced. As a long-time halberd user, I was a bit irked I was forced to go the sword and shield route simply because there are easy to acquire options that are just too much better. Overall, this game is one of those that you can't miss. If From fixes some of the issues in the next game series, beyond Bloodborne, Metacritic will need to turn the score bar to 11.

Tom Clancy's The Division9
Mar 24, 2016
Better than Destiny. Division gets a lot of things right; big and small. The RPG elements and story telling are compelling. Gunplay is superb, most of the time, when the servers are not lagging. There are a TON of things to tinker with, missions to do and stories to unfold. But really, it's the little things that make Division great. How surfaces react when hit by a bullet. How lighting changes in the day/night cycle. How weather conditions have a REAL impact on the gameplay. How an enemy getting hit in the nose with the butt of your gun reacts. These are the things that are simply missing from other titles like Destiny. There is a certain element of grinding after hitting level 30. Dark Zone is the most innovative PVP arena to date, but in order to excel, you really, truly, have to grind. RNG and frankly, non-intuitive weapon perks make this process frustrating at times, where a high end weapon can be either "just ok" or "absolute beast" depending on the roll of dice. On the other hand, that's what makes you go back to killing bosses time and time again. If these reviews would include the community, I would have to deduct a point. There are some real **** playing this game: particularly, kicking people from the party in Challenging missions right after killing the boss. If these COD-kids would leave the grieving to the Dark Zone, this game would be top-notch enjoyment.

The story is superb, although heavily influenced by not so recent movies and books (no spoiler review). One of the best RPG's I have played in a long, long time. Baldur's Gate was easily my favorite game in a multi-year span before and after it came out. This game is reminiscent of that BG glory, and boy does it deliver. The best part about this title is that it is full blood RPG with great mechanics for actual roleplaying. The close second best part is that it absolutely does not hold your hand, but throws you in the fire with some basic instructions on controls. The combat system is exactly, precisely, the combat system I like the most in any third-person games. This game just **** you in and makes you spend hours upon hours exploring before you notice it's 3am. The only reason why it doesn't get a 10/10 is the menu and crafting system, which is quite tedious to say the least. Maybe PC gamers have it better, but on PS4, it is quite 2009. I had to wait until the PS4 version to get this game, forgot about it after a while, and then saw it on discount on PSN. Couldn't be happier that I finally downloaded this masterpiece. After all, it kind of got lost in the shuffle with plenty of AAA games being published at the same time, which, by the way, didn't hold the candle to Divinity: Original Sin. Not even close.

Quite disappointing. Don't believe the positive "professional" reviewers. This game, again, showed what a bunch of paid-off hacks they are. A lot of the things that made the previous Fallouts so fun are just dumbed down or broken in this latest instalment. The dialogue system is just pure garbage. I don't see any point in RPG style charisma play through what-so-ever, which is something I did in all previous Fallouts. The S.P.E.C.I.A.L. is also dumbed down to a point where your choices don't even matter. You can just upgrade your base stats at level-up, so your initial "character" does not affect your play style at all. Not that it would anyway, because I don't see any effect of the stats on the game play apart from being able to carry more **** The story so far, well, it's the same beginning as in every other Fallout really. However, the story progression and the NPC's you meet are extremely one dimensional and I actually feel like murdering them all rather than having to suffer through the painfully uninspiring dialogues. I personally do not care for the graphics that much, which seems to be a major gripe for a lot of people, but this game is just not up to par in next gen gaming. What's worse is that it is actually VERY difficult to spot enemies without using VATS due to the "improved" graphics, particularly when compared to New Vegas. At launch, it is filled with bugs and **** The framerate is at times abysmal. The character gets stuck on invisible obstacles, and so forth. If it wasn't a Fallout game, I would have quite playing after the first 4 hours. Final word: Am I going to finish the game? Abso-fcking-lutely. Am I going to replay it? No. Is this the GOTY? NO! I started playing from Taken King, and never touched the original game. Based on the mixed reviews, I think this was the perfect call, as I have enjoyed this game/DLC immensely. After a couple of weeks of doing missions and quests, and starting from level 1, I've managed to get my hands on two of the best Titan items in the game. And that's without doing any raids or Nightfalls. The Legendary Mark system seems quite well balanced, as you can rack up enough currency for a couple of purple items in one week with almost no effort. Add that to the random drops in Strikes and your character progression to around 300 Light level is actually pretty painless. The DLC is not perfect though. For one, I still have absolutely no clue what the story is about. No. **** Clue. I do enjoy Nathan Fillion in his best role since Firefly, and the banter with Ghost and Nathan is quite enjoyable. Second thing is that there actually is not much of a story to begin with. That is, the main story missions are over in about 2 hours, unless you ****. Overall, as a low entry level MMORPG-ish shooter, this game is almost perfect. No real need to make it a second job like WoW, but just kill some time before going to bed. If you want to raid, you'll get to the required level with almost no effort at all. (Maybe my positivity is due to the fact that I never played the original, but regardless, the overtly negative reviews are quite misleading and sound like fanboy rants)

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt - Hearts of Stone10

Awesome DLC, and well worth every penny/cent. I guess why I like this DLC better than the original from the get go is that I'm already emotionally invested on Geralt anc Co. unlike in the beginning of the original Witcher 3. From the very beginning, the new story feels like a new start of a roleplaying campaign after finishing an awesome session a few months back. It's just great to be on the saddle again. Some people might have expected this DLC to be a continuation on the original story, but honestly, that makes absolutely no sense. If you indeed finished the whole main story, you'll see that there is no way the story could continue on the same tracks. It's a new mission for Geralt in a long line of new missions. And why it works? Because witchers' gonna witch.

Broken Age6
Oct 7, 2015
Not having to pay for a nostalgia trip? Great deal if you ask me, but I'm mostly just glad I waited for Broken Age to come on PSN+ than the actual game content. Alright, the gameplay and story are quite enjoyable, but the little something-something that made the Broken Swords, Day of Tentacles and Monkey Islands so great is just not there. The puzzles are ridiculously easy, and mostly you just end up franticly running between areas to gather and deliver the right items. Well, to be fair, there actually is very little puzzling in this game. I do enjoy the art and dialogue quite a bit, but as an adventure game, Broken Age just falls a little short. Double-entendre on the short, since that is what this game is. Get it free while you can.

Styx: Master of Shadows9

Really surprised about all the negative reviews. Sure, this game has a bit of a learning curve in terms of the controls, but unless you are an ADD kid, it's not really a problem. Once you get the controls down, man, this has to be the best sneaking game since the original Thief. Speaking of Thief, which is a completely natural comparison, it absolutely pales next to Styx. The maps are massive, you have multiple options on how to proceed, and what I really like is the trial and error similar to Dark Souls series. Screw up and you're dead. Enter long loading screen and a roll-back to, at worst, 20 minutes ago. It just gives you this additional level of dread, where you cannot screw up without consequences. If I'd have to gripe about something, the dialogues, cutscenes and story overall are at best mediocre. The dialogue particularly just grinds my gears the wrong way. Summa summarum: Like sneaking games? Don't mind a learning curve, just like in the good old days? Don't suffer from ADD or pre-pubescent angst? Good, this game is for you.

Same old doodah with no improvements from the very first game. I guess I'm one of those people who hate this game series, as none of the previous instalments have struck a chord either. It's just frustratingly boring. If you care about ancient Chinese history... Well... Buy a history book, because you'll get the details much faster that way. Also, you won't break your thumb pressing the square button approximately 2.6 million times to beat this game. What a waste of time.

This is not a game! Repeat: This is not a game! And, marketing this as a game just because it works on a gaming console is just a blatant lie. What this piece of software proves is that "game" "reviewers" cannot be trusted in this day and age. Sigh, but there are no refunds in this genre, isn't there... Basically, what you do is GLIDE through an empty rural town following a ball of light, which sometimes has a different name. Once in a while you tilt your controller and a cutscene of ... yeah.... balls of light... starts, and you get some part of the underlying story based on a dialogue between... yeah... balls of light... In this software, you can interact with about a handful of items, including SOME doors, SOME gates, SOME telephones, and radios. Great great, that's exactly what I paid for. Before going on further tirade on how much this product ****, I'll just leave you with this: Do not buy this product! It's not a game. You're being lied to.

Sleeping Dogs: Definitive Edition4

This game is just riddled with bugs and **** and it crashes completely at least once a session. The most infuriating bugs are the disappearing objects, which either cause you to fail a mission (guy you're tailing just disappears), or causes you to lose exp (sudden vehicles out of thin air). Second thing is the melee fighting mechanics, which are the whole core of the game as the weapons are truly scarce. The only real strategy that works in a fight is to (a) grap smaller opponents, beat them up, run away, (b) kick bigger opponents once, run away, (c) wait for the guy with a knife to strike, counter and hope none of the others are too close, run away. I think the countering system is essentially broken, where even if your reaction time is on spot, the character just does nothing to avoid damage. Best just to run in circles and grab, grab, grab. Driving is frustrating as hell, and it's almost impossible to get full points on cop missions due to this. Also, the ramming? Why do something this cartoonish in an otherwise "realistic" game.... Just ridiculous. I give props to this game for the story though, and the dossiers on the main characters are actually well written and entertaining.

Rocket League10

I haven't had this much fun with a multiplayer game since Team Fortress. Rocket League really takes the cake for gameplay/affordability -ratio. Truth be told, I was originally planning to buy the new Batman, but since I got hooked on this game, I never bought it. Didn't regret this decision for a second. Only gripe I have is that the default camera is quite funky, and personally, I'm still trying to find the settings that work best for me. Regardless, can't wait for the season to start, and hopefully get a partner or two to dominate some noobs!

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt9

Many many hours in to the game, and I felt compelled to edit my original sceptics review. My god, the main story in this game is likely the best written in any game, period. I was hooked at the early steps of the game, but the Baron storyline **** me in like a promiscuous black hole. This is the first time, I'd like to say ever, when I wished I had made different choices in a video game, and actually felt feelings. Not ashamed to say, but there were tears… Gwent, best mini game ever embedded in any game, period. When someone says it's the small things that count, they mean including Gwent as part of Witcher 3. I've spent countless of hours slapping cards with people ranging from inn keepers to royalty, and I'm not going to stop until I'm done. What I'm now hoping for that down the line there will be a DLC that expands Gwent to some new unimaginable dimensions. What was I going to say…. Right! Gwent is pretty good. Well, there are still some glaring issues touched in my original review. To this date, the game has crashed on PS4 upwards to 10 times. In bigger cities, the loading times are so bad that a dialogue option doesn't pop up in time, and that merchant you're so willing to save is beaten to death before your eyes. Controls work the best if you just spam X, and run around like a headless chicken while looting. Swimming is equal to water torture. And so forth… It's not a finished game, in my opinion. I also do not really like the battle system that much. At the beginning, it was challenging, but once your gear and skill improves, battles become quite trivial. One reason for this is the skill tree. There is a very obvious "best solution" to enhance your combat abilities. It really is a no-brainer later in the game, and The One strategy for upgrading skills takes much of the challenge out from fights. Second thing about the battle system is that there is at times very little control over the character and camera movements. Particularly in tighter spaces. I've somehow managed to kill griffins without ever actually seeing the monster, if that gives you any idea… Side quests, yes, there are a TON with capital all letters. However, going through all the locations and side quests becomes quite repetitive after a while. Fair enough, there are only so many things anyone can do, and only so many ways of how to make them interesting, but riding through a bog for the 50th time to search for a body and blood tracks is not my cup of tea. I'd rather play Gwent at an inn. (Second) Final verdict: As an RPG, this game is a master piece. Despite the annoying bugs and plagues of all RPGs of massive scale, no self-respecting gamer can miss this title. This is the first game since vanilla WoW that has **** me in so badly that I just have to play to the wee hours, and do just "one more quest". Fantastic work. ******Original Review******** Close, but no cigar. A few hours in, what can I say about this game? I had high hopes based on all the hype surrounding this edition in the Witcher saga, but let's be honest here for a second: It's not a finished game. [deleted for exceeding character limit] Final verdict: If you're willing to put up with the bugs, controls and out-dated graphics, buy it. The story is compelling and the world is big. But, I would wait a few months for patches to start rolling up so the obvious problems don't spoil the experience.

Dragon Age: Inquisition0
May 17, 2015
Boring. That's the word I was looking for. Boring. I have no idea what happened to the creative minds at Bioware, but based on this game I would say they all got canned. Dragon Age series is one of those that has it's fanboys among the gaming community as well as the professional reviewers. However, only one of the groups is getting paid for their praise. As for me, I got this game (finally) from PSN sales as I really didn't like Dragon Age 2 enough to invest in the next incarnation. First one was brilliant, though, I have to admit that much. So what is wrong with DA:I? A lot. Being a solo RPG, the story is remarkably uninspired, which leads the player to repeatedly ask themselves "Why am I doing this?". Secondly, the quests, and game world for that matter, are designed to emulate and MMORPG, namely vanilla WoW. That is, Step1: Get quest, Step2: Collect materials, Step3: ???, Step4: (Don't) Profit. This leads the player to repeatedly ask themselves "Why am I doing this?". Thirdly, the battle system is, for the lack of a better adjective, broken. You can basically cruise through the whole game by pressing R2. What makes it further infuriating is that the tactical view is just absolutely useless. If you loved the battle in the first Dragon Age, don't get your hopes up. The battle system in DA:I leads the player to repeatedly ask themselves "Why am I doing this?". Fourthly, have the times in RPG gaming really changed so much that character development is equal to ordering large fries with a happy meal? You cannot distribute any attribute points, and the only thing that "improves" the characters are better weapons and armor, as skill points are only spent on new combat abilities. As seen above, you only need one button in any battle, which leads the player to repeatedly ask themselves "Why am I doing this?". Final verdict: This game is a sandbox for killing time. It's an MMO that tries to be an RPG or vice versa, while failing to be either. Can we just pull the plug on Bioware already and let Player 2 take a shot at using the jaws of life on the dead RPG scene in next-gen gaming?

A good prequel to Second Son. Good, not great. The game itself is quite short, excluding extra challenge missions, which are, truth be told, boring. However, one thing I enjoyed in this game was a portrayal of a realistic female protagonist. And I mean down to the fat legs and behind. Fine, the story itself is really silly, and once you get to the turning point of the character in the story mode, it's just downright stupid. I still cannot help but like Fetch, and I really wanted there to be more to the story after the game ended. I didn't much enjoy playing only with neon though. One thing was that you really do not need anything else besides sniper shots with the main weapon. The secondary skills are pretty much pointless, as opposed to Second Son, where you had to manage your "rockets/grenades" in order to emerge victorious in battle. In short, it's a good addition if you liked Second Son, but still leaves you wanting something more both story- and battle-wise.

Free games on PSN+ again! Ah well, I really wanted to finish this game as it got rave reviews in the PS3 version and I never got my sticky paws on it. Fine, it's an OK game to kill an hour, which is approximately how long it will take for you to beat the game unless you're a toddler or mentally handicapped. The mechanics are cool, but get old after a couple of minutes. Lack of a run button really gets on your nerves at some stages. Otherwise, it's just OK. The most difficult part in this game was hitting ladders after a jump and not fall of from the side. Don't spend your money. Get it for free. 7 is only for the interesting mechanics, which would be cool to combine with an ACTUAL game.

Wolfenstein: The Old Blood10
May 5, 2015
Is it possible to make a great game better? Apparently yes. Old Blood is set in the original **** killing timeline, which I personally think is the best **** killing timeline, and it's so satisfying to blow them to Valhalla. This version brings a few new weapons, and takes out the futuristic aspects of New Order. I feel there is more sneaking around now, but it's so much more satisfying than in New Order. The bolt action rifle is a great addition, and the head shots from afar are just pure joy. ****, I don't like ye. Well, there are still some issues with climbing a ledge, weapon wheel and grenade being mapped on the same button and such and such. But, for 20 dollars, this game is so far the clear winner of money/fun ratio for this year, and together with New Order the strongest contender for best FPS on consoles, ever. There I said it. Ever.

Wolfenstein: The New Order9
May 5, 2015
This really is the best FPS to come out on console platforms in years. Although I was sceptical about the story at first, I could see that it drew from contemporary **** mythos very nicely by the end game (see the movie Iron Sky for example). However, I have a few gripes about the story and gameplay as well. Firstly, a love story angle is, in my humble opinion, completely unnecessary in a **** slaughter game. Did it give the characters more depth? No. It just made the one "attractive" female seem like a complete floozy in the "heat of the war" or some nonsense like this. Well, it's been done over and over, so I cannot really be that annoyed by it. Secondly, weapon change wheel and throw grenade on the same button... Really? Lastly, I have to say that other commenters have griped about the stronger enemies and bosses. Here's my two cents: Weaker guys have no armor, so they duck and cover behind walls and try to get you with grenades. Bigger buys have a **** of armor, so they need no cover and have a mentality of just running you down. Bosses are cocky ****... they are cocky **** that think they are invincible. That's the story. So, it's only logical that you'll have to find their Achilles heel. Nothing wrong with the enemy design in my opinion. Final verdict: Best FPS in years. Some minor polishing issues, but still the best in years.

OlliOlli2: Welcome to Olliwood3
Apr 8, 2015
I'm quite surprised of the high scores this game is getting from reviewers. At it's core, the game is a simple side scrolling skating game, with limited amount of tricks, but a huge amount of maps. It's not a bad game per se, but it just gets very old very fast. Now, don't get me wrong, I'm a strong proponent of retro side scrollers, and I used to devour Tony Hawk's when they were still cool. The problem I have with this game is multifaceted. The most important one are the controls. The game does require a very precise timing to land all the tricks, but at least to me, the controls don't feel crisp enough to achieve this. There's just something off with the visual cues, controller input and whether or not you're successful in landing a jump to a point where luck seems to be involved more than skill. This particularly frustrating with landing a manual, where half the time you're on point, and half the time not for no apparent reason. Secondly, while there are a great amount of maps available, it doesn't alleviate the feeling of repetitiveness in the game. Bottom line, like someone before me mentioned, this game is at it's best when I start to feel like rummaging through the old boxes and fire up a Tony Hawk's for an evening or too. Your mileage may vary.

Bloodborne9
Apr 2, 2015
This game hits almost every nerve in this old Souls fan's pleasure center. Graphics are stunning. Atmosphere is cuttable with a knife. Even the story is compelling. Why it doesn't get a perfect score from me is because it reminds me too much of Bayonetta. Yes, that game with the BDSM dominatrix with a whip. I do enjoy the more fast-paced battle system, but it often feels too streamlined, and really, how many strategies are there for killing mobs? In this game, I have two. Second thing is that I feel the armor/weapon system has been made newbie-friendly in a sense that what matters the most (really) is selecting the right starting weapon for your play style, and then fortifying it to the max. There really is no alternative. Sure, you can switch weapons later on in the game, but making the new axe/sword/cane stronger than the starting weapon is really a struggle. In Souls games, you pretty much counted your stars to get a good drop later in the game (halberd for life), and then stuck to that weapon of choice after experimenting with other tools up to that point. Bloodborne has made this part of the exploration and experience moot. Secondly, while I do understand the choice of not including any uber armors in the game considering the drain life mechanics of battle, it just **** some of the soul (pun intended) out of the game. No micromanagement needed. Much like in Bayonetta. Still, love the game.

Duke Nukem 3D: Megaton Edition9
Feb 2, 2015
I remember playing the original Duke Nukem 3D with just a keyboard. Yeah, no mouse for looking up and down. That being said, I really want to tip my hat to Young-Me for being so tenuous. I didn't recall this game being so entertainingly difficult! I got **** in to the game again with this re-release, and enjoyed every minute of the nostalgia trip. Sure, everything about the game screams "old", but that's not the point. Another thing that will keep younger generations from finishing the first level is that this game is considerably harder than any modern shooter. It requires some skill to play. I mean, when was the last time any of you had to "corner skip" to kill a normal enemy…
