Assassin's Creed III: Liberation6
Sep 1, 2021
Like Bloodlines before it, Liberation is a successful Diet version of its bigger brother, in this case AC3. Meaning it inherits all the strengths and weaknesses of that game. So while the game is impressive on a technical level, the combat and stealth are boring and the new persona system makes the gameplay drag more than it enhances. The story also feels rushes and inconsistent despite a Godly premise. And the Vita Exclusive Features feel like gimmicks.

The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild9
Jul 13, 2020
Some of the puzzles, boss fights and combat are quite disappointing. But the unparalleled level of freedom and creativity the player has overrides most issues. This is one of those rare games that constantly makes you go "You can do that".
Nintendo Switch

WWE 2K184
Jul 13, 2020
The gameplay and modes are generally fantastic...... but the absurd amount of glitches, slowdown and other issues from this port being rushed make it a chore to play. Which is disheartening considering how much I love the stuff that works.
Nintendo Switch

WWE 2K198
Jul 13, 2020
With the largest roster, most mechanics and modes of any Wrestling game, 2k19 is certainly quite packed with things to do. And the improved sim-like gameplay makes playing it tactical and rewarding. The game is held back by some underdeveloped modes and some presentation issues, but as a whole it's a step forward for the franchise

Peter Jackson's King Kong: The Official Game of the Movie6
Jul 13, 2020
While full of interesting ideas, the game fails to really take advantage of them. The interesting take on survival is undercut by the frequent and boring fights with the creatures. The overly scripted nature makes it play like a poor man's COD. Kong's sections feel exciting when you first play them but end up being very simplistic and repetitive.

The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim VR8
Jul 13, 2020
Issues in the base version of Skyrim seem to disappear in the VR Version. The basic combat feels more exhilarating when you're the one swinging the swords manually or aiming the bow. The somewhat jagged and rough visuals feel more alive when you're actually in the world. I only wish the game was expanded more to take advantage of VR like allowing the player to parry and strike using the Move Controllers and have the enemies respond better to it. Still, Skyrim VR is a must have for fans of VR.

Borderlands 2 VR8
Jul 13, 2020
A great conversion of a classic game. The VR experience makes exploring Pandora feel more unique and personal
PlayStation 4
Jul 13, 2020
Borderlands 38
Jul 13, 2020
The improvements made to gunplay make using the loot you get more fun than ever. But with a rather disconnected world and story, it can start to feel meaningless at times
PlayStation 4

Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem6
Jul 13, 2020
Visually, this looks and sounds like the real thing. But the gameplay is much too simplistic even by kids standards
PlayStation 2
Jul 12, 2020
The Incredible Hulk: Ultimate Destruction8
Jul 12, 2020
While some of the mechanics, menu and aspects of the open world and presentation are outdated, The gameplay of being Hulk is as potent as ever. Being able to run through streets, surfing on busses and fighting giant robots is some of the most enjoyment you can find in a game
GameCube

Mortal Kombat: Tournament Edition7

While klunky and unwieldy at times, This game packs enough kontent and kuality gameplay to make up for most of its issues.
Game Boy Advance

Uncharted: The Nathan Drake Collection7
Jun 23, 2020
A series of games of inconsistent quality and different strengths. You have Drake's Fortune, a raw game with a very shallow story and gameplay. You have Among Theives, a More polished game that's consistent but still shallow You have Drake's Deception, A game with high ambition but more inconsistencies.
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
The Last of Us Remastered8
Jun 23, 2020
With a story beyond what most normal games can even attempt and a very solid attempt at survival horror, TLOU is held back by its rather simplistic gameplay and bad habit of trying to overly script the player. Yet, these issues can feel like they don't exist in the grand scheme of things.
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
Grand Theft Auto V6
Jun 23, 2020
It's rare to see a game with production values like this. V has a city unlike another game, cutscenes and a love of cinema that influences it, and more hidden details than you can count. Yet, with a story that lacks purpose, structure and momentum, gameplay missions that are overly restrictive, and lazy attempts masquerading as satire, V feels like a walking contradiction.
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
Watch Dogs 28
Jun 23, 2020
While the tone and story were not to my liking, the added options to hacking and world design make simply completing even basic missions fun
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
Watch Dogs7
Jun 23, 2020
With a unique thriller and grimy aesthetic, Watch Dogs looks interesting. With its unique gameplay that mixes hacking, gunplay, stealth, multiplayer all while giving players tons of choice when approaching missions makes the game interesting. While the story could have used another some more tweaks, Watch Dogs is a great open world action game who's mechanics make GTA V look simplistic.
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
SpongeBob SquarePants: Creature from the Krusty Krab6
Jun 23, 2020
The game's biggest strength is its imagination. You have tons of amazing premises for levels, set pieces and sequences that should make this game a slam dunk. But its biggest weakness is the lack of execution. The gameplay is often overly simple to a fault making these amazing looking levels a chore to play through. The game then, is at its best when it's rushing through set-pieces then because it's able to stave off boredom better
PlayStation 2
Jun 23, 2020
Deus Ex: Mankind Divided8
Jun 23, 2020
While the story feels like a DLC in between other main events and the themes of racism and cyberpunk have lost their magic from last time, the gameplay is the best its ever been.
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
Assassin's Creed: Brotherhood6
Jun 23, 2020
While a small improvement on the gameplay over its predecessor, Brotherhood doesn't make enough improvements and inherits many of the issues 2 had. The Boring combat, rigid stealth and inconsistent story all return to bring down the experience
PlayStation 3
Jun 23, 2020
Pokemon Shield6
Jun 23, 2020
A game that takes several steps forward with features that really bring Pokemon onto the home console **** takes several steps back in the process. The overly linear nature, the inconsistent story and a lack of postgame do little to justify the hefty price tag
Nintendo Switch
Jun 23, 2020
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes7
Jun 23, 2020
While lacking content, the near-perfect stealth gameplay makes this demo a game I've played more than entire full games.
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain8
Jun 23, 2020
Mechanically, this game is pretty much perfection. You have more tools, options and tactics than most other franchises combined. But with a story that's unfinished, tons of rather tedious missions that don't take full advantage of the setup and few surprises, it hurts the experience
PlayStation 4
Jun 23, 2020
Spider-Man: Web of Shadows8
Jun 23, 2020
While the world is bland and the story often cheesy, the gameplay is incredible. The combos, the aerial battles, the web-swinging, the powers all have a lot of depth
PlayStation 3
Jun 22, 2020
Horizon Zero Dawn7
Jun 22, 2020
Horizon is a game with a cool premise and story but does very little to stand out with gameplay. FIghting giant Robots is amazing. But combat with humans, smaller robots, stealth and climbing fail to, at times, even be on par with the competition
PlayStation 4
Jun 22, 2020
Need for Speed: Most Wanted (2005)4
Jun 22, 2020
This feels like a prototype made in a weekend on a budget. Which is even sadder when you consider the GBA and Java versions are better
DS
Jun 22, 2020
The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt8
Jun 22, 2020
Some of the very best storytelling in an open-world game perhaps ever, but with shallow and often arbitrary gameplay that does not play to the game's strengths. I would absolutely rather this game have much better combat and navigation or be a Telltale style game that focuses 90% on the story because both would be better approaches than the "middle ground approach" the game currently takes.
PlayStation 4

Bio Inc. - Biomedical Plague and Infection RTS6
Jun 22, 2020
Plague Inc with a personal twist. While much more limited and not as varied, the dark humour, medical accuracies and decent gameplay make it an ok free alternative if you're very cheap
iOS (iPhone/iPad)
Jun 22, 2020
Grand Theft Auto Online4
Jun 22, 2020
The load screens alone hurt my desire to play. But the added issues with match-making, grinding and progression make it a chore to play
PlayStation 4
Jun 22, 2020
Red Dead Redemption 26
Jun 22, 2020
A game that feels like it resents being a game. One who's missions take away any sense of agency from the player and are so otherwise scripted that it defies belief. Try to be creative during a stealth mission? You get a game over and are forced to follow a slow NPC instead of using the mechanics to create your own path. Try to kill a guy you're chasing in a mission tha game tells you to kill? Game over. You weren't supposed to kill him yet, it's not cinematic enough. Add in the rigid and unresponsive gameplay that hasn't evolved much since 2008 and you have an odd game. A game that has a gorgeous and technically proficient world, but with mission design and gameplay that feels designed for a cheap 3rd person shooter from 2007. The story is amazing but at times I wish I were watching this as a TV show. At least I could fast-forward through the boring parts then.
PlayStation 4
Jun 22, 2020
The Amazing Spider-Man 25
Jun 22, 2020
This game has many interesting concepts; swinging with each hand, pretty cool stealth segments, a reputation system, but this game needed another year in development
PlayStation 4
Jun 22, 2020
GYLT7
Jun 22, 2020
Plays like a "My First Horror Game". It's good but nothing too special. Feels like it goes on for too long. I'd rather it end a bit earlier to preserve its momentum
Stadia
Jun 22, 2020
Marvel's Spider-Man8
Jun 22, 2020
If you've played a Spider-Man game before or a Batman Arkam game or a Ubisoft game, you've experienced most of what this game has to offer. This game doesn't do anything new but what it does is extremely well done
PlayStation 4
Jun 22, 2020
Hungry Shark World7
Jun 22, 2020
The progression gets tedious so play it in short bursts. There, 2D Shark Action will devour your time
iOS (iPhone/iPad)
Jun 22, 2020
Assassin's Creed Odyssey8
Jun 22, 2020
Held back by repetitive content but the added improvements to stealth, combat and exploration plus the new RPG aditions make it the best of the franchise
PlayStation 4
Jun 22, 2020
Assassin's Creed II6
Jun 22, 2020
Technically impressive with stunning presentation, but the boring combat, cheesy story and rigid stealth hold it back
Xbox 360
Jun 22, 2020
Assassin's Creed IV: Black Flag7
Jun 22, 2020
While the story is amazing, ship combat gets boring after a few hours. Ship exploration has very little to actually find. On foot, the lack of challenge or varied gamelay hurts.
PlayStation 4
Jun 22, 2020
The Last of Us Part II8
Jun 22, 2020
The gameplay is a small improvement over the past. The story, with some real inconsistent pacing, is still bold, risky and intense. Not a masterpiece, but still a technical achievement
PlayStation 4

Robbery Bob7
Nov 25, 2018
The game is pretty good. The puzzle-like approach to stealth, nice visuals and presentation all give this an interesting look.
