Scooby-Doo! Mystery Mayhem

Mystery Mayhem offers ex-stoners and kids of all ages a multi-episode mystery for the ages by pretty much reinventing the old Genesis "Ghosbusters" in 3D, only with all the extra refinements 3D affords. [Mar 2004, p.59]

The videogame resembles the cartoon so well that I instinctively reach for the remote to change the channel. Hey, look, there's a great show on the making of mop handles.
Mystery Mayhem does a fine job of capturing the feeling and atmosphere of the beloved TV series, but the overly simplistic gameplay is where the game falls short.

Top Scooby-Doo Game on PS2. New gameplay system and interesting levels. Great for kids. I don't understand why the rating is 55.

I loved this game. Its actually pretty funny and decent, the one item that i did not like in this game is that in the wild west and in the swampy bayou, the Mine cart and the motorcycle levels, they are a pain but really damn fun!

Visually, this looks and sounds like the real thing. But the gameplay is much too simplistic even by kids standards

Fans of the cartoons will be happy to know that the game contains everything from the originals, including voices and bad jokes.

This game is great for all the scooby doo fanatics out there! If you've watched all the show and don't have your fill of Shaggy and Scooby, there's no better place but this game to hear more of their jokes. It's also a real treat for all stealth game fans, because this game is up there with the best of them.

Even the youth market, at which it's aimed, should be able to clear enough of it to sate their Scooby urges in an overnight period, leaving parental wallets free for better gaming purchases.

A mixture of tedious adventuring and boredom inducing play mechanics.

Scooby-Doo: Mystery Mayhem just isn’t much fun. Blame it on its repetitive nature, the bad level design, the lame gameplay mechanics, the poor controls, or the collection mentality that composes a large part of the game – blame it on something because there’s no denying that Scooby-Doo: Mystery Mayhem is a huge bore-fest.

But unless your mommy tucks you into your Scooby-Doo bed sheets at night, you probably won’t be entirely satisfied.

Simple mechanics for the player to get a hand of the game, a cheesy and predictable yet entertaining mystery plot and the Scooby Doo characters. All of the essence of the classic Scooby Doo cartoon is perfectly added on here. Which makes it a perfect game based on a cartoon, but since it's based on a bland cartoon, the game's bland as well.
