Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes

It is surprising, and not a little depressing, that all people want to talk about with this game is the running time.

Ground Zeroes is a great slice of stealth-action gaming, filled with heaps of content and strategic value -- even if it isn't quite the epic adventure some had hoped for.

Enter the best controls the franchise has known and a ton of other changes and improvements. It's a shame that the fantastic level design wears out because of how the game forces the user to play in the same place over and over. Otherwise, this introduction to the new direction of the franchise is really satisfying.

After the credits roll on the main mission and a handful of side activities unlock, the best part of Ground Zeroes is just getting started. With a dearth of secrets to find, and new challenges to master, chasing the endgame will keep you entertained for hours on end.

Ground Zeroes, with just one mission, makes clear that Phantom Pain is going to be a fantastic game. The problem is that this experience is too short, with an unjustifiable price point.

Even for longtime fans of the Metal Gear franchise, Ground Zeroes may not be worth playing. It spreads its strengths thin over too little space, relying on the repetition of a handful of unremarkable missions in the same area. That's the bad news. The good news is that the core stealth is fun, and the innovations on the gameplay front are promising.

Audacious is the word that best describes Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes. It contains quality material, but it's little more than a preview of something better, and as such, simply should not be presenting itself - deceptively - as a game in its own right.

As short as it was, loved all it had to offer. And the bigger story comes in Phantom Pain and you realize why it was better to separate the two.

It's a prologue cut out and turned into a game demo. It's fun but it just **** that this isn't in the game.

What Kind of Adventure? Stealthy/Third Person Shooter Was it fun? It seemed interesting but I just couldn’t get into it. Are there any similar games? It reminded me of Mission Impossible for the N64. A stealthy shooter that I just couldn’t get into. Favorite Character? The game is so short there is no character development. Favorite World/Stage? There was only one stage or location. Would you play it again? No, I just didn’t care for the game. Any Complaints? I thought it was really hard and there wasn’t much of an introduction or anything. It just through you into the gameplay and having never played a Metal Gear Solid game before, I didn’t know what to do. How many hours did you play it? I tried for a couple hours and I just couldn’t beat the first and only mission so I stopped.
