LEGO Batman: Legacy of the Dark Knight7
Jun 29, 2026
For a kids' game in tone and gameplay, this is a surprisingly well-crafted love letter to the Dark Knight. Way too much unnecessary crap littered around the map, but overall a delightful little experience.

007 First Light8

An excellent outing as Bond. IOI knew exactly what to include to make a great first in what will hopefully be a series. Definitely room for improvement in some aspects like the gadgets and traversal, but the combat was fun and fluid.

My favorite brain-teaser puzzle game series. Some games I play so I can turn my brain off; I play Picross to turn it ON.

Resident Evil Requiem9
Mar 14, 2026
Underwhelming yet satisfying story aside, the combo of dread-inducing survival horror and bombastic action as Grace & Leon pretty much works as well as Capcom can produce. A great game that I'll need therapy before tackling a second playthrough

Open Roads6

This would probably be a 5 if I had paid more than $10 for it, but worth the price just to hear Keri Russell & Kaitlyn Dever read lines to each other. A short & sweet little story.

Resident Evil Village Gold Edition8
Jan 21, 2026
I procrastinated pulling this out of my backlog, but Requiem will soon be upon us, and I wanted to complete this before it releases. I went with the Gold edition precisely to play in third person. Village made my heart pump in all the right ways. A solid entry in the RE series, but by no means the best. Still, I love the addition to the lore, and am going to dive into the Rose DLC immediately.

This game has no business being as great as it is. Who on earth wants to play a superhero game where you play a 911 dispatcher? Me, it turns out.

Batman: Arkham Asylum9
Nov 18, 2025
Visiting this for the first time was an amazing exercise in realizing how influential Arkham Asylum actually was. I can't count the number of games I've played that obviously borrowed a mechanic or idea from this. It's basically The Matrix of gaming. I would kill to have been able to play this when it originally released. Mark Hamill is perfection as always. God, I miss Kevin Conroy.

Ghost of Tsushima: Director's Cut9
Jul 28, 2025
Having previously played GoT on PS4 when it launched, I was worried going in whether this would grab me, but it absolutely did. Jin is just so fun to play. Losing a point for a bit of a lack of variety as it can get a bit repetitious, but I still put in over 50 hours before I decided to ignore the rest of the side content and finish the story. **** Punch did such a great job, and I can't wait for Ghost of Yotei.

Persona 3 Reload9

While I was definitely prepared for the unique & fun gameplay loop after playing Persona 5, what I was not prepared for was that it would grip me just as hard and cause me even more emotional damage. This game broke me.

Like a Dragon Gaiden: The Man Who Erased His Name9
Mar 15, 2025
This is kind of the perfect Yakuza game for me, and an outstanding send-off for Kiryu. I loved returning to the bonkers real-time action. I wish more games were this short! It would have been a 10 if there had been more wacky substories, or at least one with a panty thief. ;)

Yakuza: Like a Dragon8
Mar 4, 2025
The first game I've put a rating to that I've never actually finished. But after over 100 hours over the course of a couple years, I decided to put it down rather than grind another dozen hours to level up enough to finish. While I accept (and enjoyed for a good chunk of) the switch from real-time to turn-based combat, I ultimately can't say I prefer it. That being said, I am definitely on board with Ichiban as a main protagonist. He will never replace Kiryu, but it was definitely time for a switch-up with the franchise. I just hope Infinite Wealth won't require the same awful grind. I'm just not into that aspect of games anymore.

Lost Records: Bloom & Rage Tape 17

A little too slow-paced, even if slow was kind of the point; but its intriguing premise and likeable characters are worth the stroll. I'll be diving into Tape 2 when it hits.
PlayStation 5

Silent Hill 28
Nov 26, 2024
My first dip into the incredibly unsettling world of Silent Hill. Impeccably crafted in most ways; but it gets pretty repetitive once you hit the fourth or fifth area. A great 20 hours that would have gotten a worse score if it had dragged on too much longer like some games do.

Astro Bot9
Sep 23, 2024
Team Asobi took what they made with Astro's Playroom and built upon it in the best possible way. While I don't have a lot of nostalgia for PlayStation per se, I could still really enjoy how the game was built around the fun of the brand. A great, beautiful platformer.

I waited until this was on sale and the 60fps patch was added, and it was worth every penny. This was my first ever playthrough, and, especially after having already played the sequel, every moment was just plain Rockstar at their best. Every bit the masterpiece.

Nov 21, 2023
A delightful little reason to return to Providence Oaks. Although nothing really special was added (a trophy or two would have been nice), if you liked the main game, you will probably enjoy getting to know Meredith's parents. Man, I just need more cozy delivery games like this.

Marvel's Spider-Man 28
Nov 13, 2023
A worthy sequel by Insomniac. As a personal preference, I just think I liked the first game better. This one has a little too much of a serious tone, and while some gameplay improvements were amazing, like the web-gliding, the combat wasn't as engaging this time around. Still, I believe it deserves the praise it is getting; it just doesn't seem as made-for-me as the first title. Which is ok!

Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration7

This one is hard to review. Despite the incredible variety that you eventually get in gameplay mechanics as you level up, as a whole it still got samey and tedious to finish. Still a solid entry in the franchise, though.

Yakuza 5 Remastered8

The Last of Us Remastered9
Jan 22, 2023
Wasn't sure I'd ever get around to this. It had pretty much been spoiled for me already, and I've already played TLOU2. The HBO series finally gave me the kick in the pants to pull this out of my backlog, as I was sure I wasn't familiar with the majority of the story. It holds up, and it's good; now excuse me while I go cry in the shower...

Resident Evil 7: biohazard8
Jan 15, 2023
I put this game off for so long because first-person view in any game normally tanks my interest by 90%. This was the first time I found it to be a benefit to immersion instead of a hindrance. The hype is real with this one. Ethan's nervous breathing in my ears, and the ominous music/ambience was so much more effective than jump scares, and everything comes together for a fantastic survival horror experience.

Yakuza 3 Remastered9
Dec 26, 2022
After playing through 0, and Kiwami 1 & 2, I was trepidatious when I started this clunkier, dated remaster. But it holds up better than I could have imagined. While still very much a product of the PS3 era, the gameplay still feels familiar. I was just as engrossed in the story and side adventures as ever, and received even more emotional gut punches. This is quickly becoming my favorite video game series.

Lost Judgment10
Dec 18, 2022
Lots of improvements over Judgment. I just really dig this Japanese "Jack Reacher meets Law & Order" vibe; it's like a season **** cop drama that you can play. The School Stories aspect can wear out its welcome, but the payoff for solving them all was incredibly satisfying. I really hope RGG keeps up with this series.

Yakuza Kiwami 210
Dec 5, 2022
After tackling Yakuza 0 (10/10!) and Kiwami (8/10), I was stoked to get into the next chapter in Kiryu's saga, and it was everything I wanted. Top-notch story & action, and improved mechanics hit all the right spots. They even made the waifu collector club's story incredibly satisfying by tying it all into 0's, as well. Fantastic game.

Judgment9
Aug 27, 2022
It's rare that I'll sink 50+ hours into a game over the course of a week instead of several months, but Judgment's gameplay loop and story got its hooks in me and was almost impossible to put down. Basically Japanese Jack Reacher meets Law & Order blended into a great game. More, please.

Final Fantasy VII Remake Intergrade8
Aug 18, 2022
Utterly beautiful, with an excellent combat system that integrates real-time & turn-based play seamlessly. My only gripes may be that it is a bit too bloated, and the last 2 chapters are an unending sequence of boss fights (which for a certain type of player may be a plus, though). A stellar remake.
