Not having played Yakuza 6 yet, at first I was disappointed with the Dragon engine, which offers only painful 30 frames per second. New tech has its advantages though, as you may enter most of shops, restaurants etc. without annoying loading, which is a significant step forward from the first Kiwami, as are the physics engine, animation system and enhanced control over combat. Overall it is a very good game, but not as brilliant as Yakuza 0, especially in terms of the story. [10/2018, p.70]

It’s an odd feeling to be back in Kamurocho after wishing a bittersweet farewell to the Dragon of Dojima. Even though Kiwami 2 doesn’t quite achieve the emotional highs of the Song of Life, the polished gameplay as well as one of the finest antagonists the series has to offer makes it a must play for Yakuza fans, whether they played the original on the PS2 or not.

Minor flaws aside, Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a great reimagining, reworked with love and pride by a team who clearly understand what makes their games shine. Even though there are loads of Kiryu’s adventures to choose from at this point, this one stands apart as one of the best. It may not dethrone 0 as the definitive Yakuza experience, but it’s still an excellent entry in its own right and has essentially become the gold standard by which all remakes should be measured.

Excellent jeu de combat, réhausse la série suite à yakuza kiwami 1, très bons graphismes aussi

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a good game for a new arc of Kiryu. After what happened in Yakuza Kiwami 1, I personally felt this game was basically a freash air for kiryu. The gameplay follows the same as the previous one, however, even though it was nice to play the new arc, the story was weaker than previous , and also the non charismatic main antagonist barely had a story, there were few informations about him. The graphics are incredible, there are more stuffs to do with a better side missions.

Compared to Kiwami 1, I have to admit that the story has improved a lot, and overall I really enjoyed it.I could have finished it last week, but between the Cabaret Club and Majima Construction I ended up sinking an insane amount of time into it--------------As for the three Majima episodes… I mean, I was happy to see Makoto again, but on their own they left a lot to be **** to mention how they stripped Majima’s combat system down to the bare minimum.------------Still, all things considered, I can’t really complain.----------------Now I’ll start Yakuza 3 Remastered instead of waiting for Kiwami 3, so I can see how many things will change in the remake.

I really, really enjoyed my time with Yakuza Kiwami 2, and as a fan of the series, I’d certainly urge you to check it out. It has very few flaws, outside of some minor animation issues and the occasional cumbersome combat sequence. It also feels like a much stronger remake than even Yakuza Kiwami, which was no slouch to begin with. It also has some solid ties to both Yakuza 0 via the new elements, and pre-existing story beats that feed into the more recent Yakuza 6. So check this one out when you get a chance, you will not be disappointed.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 might not be the game to start with, but for old fans it’s a lovely trip down memory lane, and for the newcomers who have discovered the series through Yakuza 0, this title will be a true delight for you, as you get to experience how brilliant Yakuza can be when it’s at the top of its game. There have been three Yakuza games released across various platforms this year, but it’s this remake that shines as the best example of the series to date.

For me, it's one of the best games in the Yakuza series. I really like the characters, and the story is really cool.
One of the best games to control Kiryu, who's at his peak here!

Yakuza Kiwami 2 offers the best Yakuza experience money can currently buy, not to mention a story that wouldn't seem out of place in an old Kinji Fukasaku flick.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is an outstanding remake which takes the original game and revolutionizes its visuals by using new generation assets and the latest version of the Dragon Engine, in order to deliver incredibly rich locations, awesome characters and a compelling story.

Yakuza Kiwami 2 is clearly the update Yakuza 2 deserved. The very talented people over at Ryu Ga Gotoku Studios recreated the riveting Yakuza 2 plot while adding new side quests and activities. Even if a couple of elements from the original game are now missing, Kiwami 2 has more than enough content to keep players glued to their screens. It must also be noted that the Dragon Engine looks and runs better than it did in Yakuza 6. All in all, Kiwami 2 another great Yakuza game that fans of the series should not miss.

Just like a show, the second season has to contend with the apparent success of its predecessor, and it’s clear that the writers on Yakuza 2 may not have known how to extend that deeply personal tale for another 40 hours.

Fairly average. Yakuza Kiwami 2 is a nice game, the remake is useful to experience one of the 2 ps2 yakuza games in a more modern way, it also has a new saga (Although very short) that closes up some things, and this game resolves some issues or things that the original didnt explain. Gameplay wise the dragon engine removes most loading screens when entering buildings so its a lot smoother to explore the enviroment, you also get some parkour moves to climb over fences or jump from buildings. Combat is a downgrade from kiwami 1 and 0, while the dragon engine is smooth you are now locked to a single style with less of everything, it still is enjoyable but especially at the begining when you barely have skills its a complete drag. Visually for a yakuza game especially its actually really good, there are more aliasing issues than the previous games but there are better reflections and lighting with smooth animations that make the game feel more alive. Storywise its not bad but its very ridiculous and bizarre. You might seem this as normal but main story is usually very serious with some humor scenes. This game is plot twist after plot twist, it might be the piece of media that has the most plot twist i have ever seen, some of them are really good, but the sheer ammount of them is bizarre to say the least, the final scene has like 7+ plot twists alone. Its also a bit hard to keep track of the story and especially so with the names. In itself its decent but very bizarre and it kinda drags you between the middle point to close the final act. Characters were fun but some of them were cheaply written, some others were very cringe and it has many cliche moments between them. The sidecontent is good but its pretty lacking coming from other games. Sidequests some are fun, some are really fun, and others are a bit cringey, it has a pretty big ammount and for the ammount its actually pretty decent. Most side activities were pretty boring, things i do once and never again unless i need a trophy or need to please haruka. If you wanna keep track with the yakuza saga its worth at 10$

Story isn't bad, but man, the combat just got **** out of this one compared to the first Kiwami. I swear they basically forced you to use weapons in this. Using weapons is lame, I wanna punch ****

The combat in this game is laughably bad, the dodge goes nowhere and there isn't a lock on, I beat the first fight with the main bad guy and that's when I began to realize just how bad the combat system ****. for one the blocking was unreliable due to the lack of a lock on, the dodging couldn't get me far away enough to evade most of his attacks, and you can't cancel attacks by blocking or dodging so half of your attacks would get ignored and he'd kick your ass. One more thing before the fans of this game murder me, the fights with multiple enemies also ****. imagine the blocking and dodging issues I had with the boss, but 5 times worse, at least the grunts don't have as much heath. other than that I can't really say much for the story as this is the first Yakuza game I've tried. I've heard that the plot is good so I won't give it less than a 4/10 but I won't see much of that story because I refuse to play any more of this game, the bad combat was funny at first but then it got annoying

The combat rework in this game makes it impossible to play. Bosses can't be hit, they will dodge and block every single attack you throw at them, then they'll stunlock you and hit you across the room. It is literally not possible to play this game.
