Feels like they added all the fancy mechanics of other games without thinking. There are no meaningful story behind the game either. They've been caught using AI on their assets so who knows how far they've relied to make this slop.

Their nemisis system is definitely interesting but overall gameplay loop wasn't that captivating and got boring fast to the point I had to drop the game. Wasn't all that good story wise either.

Initially didn't have much expectation for an anime game. Am glad to say I've been proven wrong. The combat took me a bit to learn but once doing the basics, really felt like I was fighting as Saiyans like in the Anime.

This is probably one of those games that preached concept that sounded the best to their "investors" next to open world genre, but fully not having thoughts or design behind it. Upon recent coverage of the game explaining a lot of the performance issues/crashes I've had. And no, changing from unreal engine 4 to 5 mid production is not an excuse for the game to be in this state.

The game is beautiful while in outer space and it does have that Bethesda charm which creates some funny moments during gameplay. (Exploiting game physics and game system) Though I would have to say majority of the time it felt disjointed/empty for a space themed game from the tremendous amount of loading screens between taking off the planet to warping to another place and empty copypasta geographic you see in the planets you land. The story following the selection of leaders was not all that exciting to bump up myscores. With the theme already being explored by other games like No Man's Sky and Outerworlds, I expected more from an AAA developer. The dev noted that Covid has delayed much of their development and I do have hope in developers polishing and adding more content to further enhance the user gameplay, but as of now, this will be the score I give. Hope it gets good enough for me to change to a 10 someday.
Edit:: This game has no hope. Devs blamed it on the player's perception in the end instead of making a decent game.

Got this game recommended as a replacement for Diablo 4. As in progression, it is miles better than Diablo4, but that's pretty low of a bar to cross. The pay to progress aspect is so strong in this game, I wouldn't recommend any one in the right mind play this game. You will be constantly stressed and given a way out by the cash shop they flash constantly flash at you. Some vids notes people claiming to spend up to 100k or more in this game which seems possible with how they try to mask how much they are actually spending to upgrade gears. How is ARPG this bad in 2023?

What's the point of playing this game? There's no sense of progression. Everything scales to your level which means your combat feels pretty much the same through out the entire story which seems to be how they've added the MMO elements to allow people to play with other people.

I did enjoy playing the game. Very mature set of tone compared to their predecessor and loved it. Story wise, it was interesting while the game was building it's momentum of the story. After the character arc ends half way into the game, it gets pretty stale. This is pretty much an issue with every recent Square Enix title. The rest is this is how it suppose to be because we told you type of game. There is no dept to it other than it's main story. Everything else feels like a chore. Combat was really satisfying to play and is what brings up from being a 7.

Things I liked: Single player content- fun for me who are relatively new to the franchise/genre. It provides space for creativity where you can create your very own combination of skills from different masters for your avatar. Has decent grind to get you familiar with the game. Avatars- Customizable to you're liking along with skill sets you get from world tour. Connections filters and wifi indicator- Much needed modern QOL as it's p2p and not server based game. People on the other end will suffer your poor internet quality without this. Rank-seems to have healthy population to match you with close skill Earn-able skins via world tour- Love how they treat the current char costumes as you can earn by progressing through out your single content. Battle hub- Unique place to interact with people. Would love more variation at some point. Netcode- Having the game designed around the netcode makes the usually stutter very unnoticeable. Still bad against people with poor network quality or wifi, but we have indicators to filter them out. Input syncing- They seemed to have address the dilemma that other FG had in the past of not being able to pick out side of very few stages due to it's lag by isolating the syncing to only player's input. Have had 0 de-sync or roll back problems aside from match with people using wi-fi Modern control- Had my little cousin play in this control set and he had a blast. Although I'm a bit salty about losing to him, I'm happy more people can enjoy the genre. Plus, it's limited in some control so I wouldn't be worried about as you progress higher into the rank. What I didn't like Random errors- Happens mid match, matchmaking & also during world tour. I would like this fixed asap. Battle hub arcade stand- Although Battle Hub provides unique space for people to interact and track of the hottest streaking player, not having connection filter/wifi filter makes the experience very much not favorable. You are forced to fight someone on the spot without any clear indication of their connection quality. Weekly/Daily challenges-Does not leave room for casual to earn as it's based only on winning the match. Sees a lot of people going after avatar lvl way below them to earn these rewards. It kills the fun and creates more room for toxcity.

Pixel JRPG had a strong start with it's visuals and music presentation. Sadly, story it self is too short and generic to be a story driven game. The combat improvement also stops half way into the game, making it very tiresome and repetitive through out rest of the game. Very disappointed on how it became bland very quickly into the game.

Halo 2 and 3 being all time favorite game, this kinda makes me sad. I used to wow at the purple/pinkish sky as I looked out of the pod after landing in the OG halo. It has vastly improved in terms of quality from initial game play peak, but the rest seems badly tuned/hollow. For gunplay, I think it's being held back by the design of old game play of Halo. No satisfaction from shooting after playing other modern FPS games as it takes way too long to kill enemies whether it's the pistol or other guns making it feel very hollow. From the initial isolated environment to marines you encounter along the way feels way out of place in terms of expression as they are way too optimistic and happy imo in the condition they're in. Storytelling wasn't bad, but I have nothing to remember this game by as the story did not progressing at all.

Combats are satisfying and have different types of build that are worth exploring. Creates true action combat DnD feeling with the addition of DLC. I would probably have rated this at 7 or 8 without it. Some wishlist for the next game: >introduction of medal golem mechanics much earlier on into the game. >Skill that requires party interaction(exp.Ladder Blade ) to be more snappier and rewarding. >The stats build up to be noted out of the box- you have to sort of plan ahead to make some the class work. Would have liked more indication of these stats rather than being hidden and realizing it later on into the game. >Co-op >More end game- Bitter Black isles was best part of the game imo, I felt longing for more randomness as I finished the game. Spawns have these, but the dungeon structure it self does not.

The Banner Saga 30
Jul 5, 2023
This franchise is abandoned. I cannot recommend this to anyone if playing on steam. This one is full of bugs to the point it's unplayable. Game crash, Game save lost, UI being bugged, character soft locked. People seemed to have been pointing out these issues since release, but devs went on with their days by just typing acknowledgement and never fixing the issues. UI bugs seems to apply to some characters who are under leveled compared to the saves given by default. To be more clear, if you have a save from Banner Saga 2 and the character has movement/attack range of 3 while default save character have 4, it will show the movement capability as 4 while only having the ability to move 3. This is a deal breaker in these type of games where you need to plan ahead to fight enemies.

The game has decent shooting and was enjoying for the most part, but I'm moving this game down from 9 to 7. People are just spamming reports non-stop to the person up in the leader board and actually succeeds in banning them. It says they are sent into review, but there's no way they're going through all of it. I think it just auto 24hr/perma ban at certain threshold. Edit: WTF is is this claymore meta. I literally cannot go through bushes.

The game is rising action part of the story and although it is not very strong in that context, it makes it up by opening up a bit more in terms of combat. The gripe would would be unable to play this game through the whole series in 1 save due to Banner Saga 3 being abandoned.

If it's your first Kingdom game, I can see this being rated a lot higher than what I've rated. Having played the previous franchise, it brings barely nothing new or fun to the game. It's just the same game with of QOL that makes the game a lot less random/ managing with co-op.

The UI is pretty much 1 to 1 replica of what the person would see in irl boradgame. That being said, it's poorly implemented as a PC game without clear indication of the the card or the in-game mechanics. So many times have I miss-interpreted the cards for another, only to get penalty for death. Having physical copy of the cards and rules at your hand are vastly better than playing this game.

This game absolutely blows it out of the park with their story telling and old disney style art direction. I would have given this game 10/10 if Banner Saga 3 was actually playable. Banner Saga 3 being literally abandoned(Game crash, save lost, bugged UI for the entierely of it's release still as I'm writing this) makes the repeatability of this game 0 as I can no longer play through the series using 1 save.

Prime example of another Korean MMO Devs going out of their ways on steam to keep positive vibe when there is none. Got flagged for cheating when I when I was just **** talking to my friends in game how horrible some class felt. VAC flagging kills the account as a whole on STEAM. Had to make a different account because of this. The game is long dead only 1 year into the release, but I just wanted to leave this behind as it fcked with my account and they never took it back.

The latest patch 1.24 along with the edition of PS crossplay seems to have broken record of their prior experience. A lot players still unable to connect to online, getting kicked back to main menu with network errors, unable to join Tower lobbies, half of the maps aren't playable because it takes toll on console players causing spike in roll backs. Devs have gone silent and players as of now have no way to troubleshoot these issues who are stuck with the product.
