Greetings from Lithuania." War for the Planet of the Apes" (2017) is amazing movie. It perfectly ended this trilogy and left me wanting for more. I do hope they will create another trilogy this time focusing on humans, but seeing what incredible movies they made about apes, i want them to me great characters as well."War for the Planet of the Apes" is easily one of the best movies i saw this year. The craftsmanship of this movie is nothing short of amazing. Special effects were simply flawless. Not great or amazing - they were perfect. Not for a second did i thought that i was watching CGI creations in front of me - they were there, apes, with all of emotions and etc. Andy Serkis is amazing in here. Steve Zahn stole every scene as a Bad Ape - couldn't take my eyes of him - what a movie magic. Screenplay was great, deep and dark - this is a dark movie and although it is rated PG-13 its theme is more in common with "Apocalypse Now" - starting from theme, mood and Woody Harrelson performance which more then once remanded me of Colonel Walter E. Kurtz. Overall, once again - "War for the Planet of the Apes" is an amazing motion picture. There so many quite scenes between apes that i kinda wished they just kept going. Directing by Matt Reeves was more then great - he is truly a force in Hollywood that should be get more recognition - can't wait to see his take on solo "Batman" movie. Cant' recommend this movie any higher - great movie.

Possibly the most emotional Planet Of The Apes yet i felt quite underwhelmed by it, and i still like a lot of things from it, the CGI of course was outstanding, i think Woody Harrelson was a menacing villain, the new characters are good, and Caesar life was really on the line here and i can feel every single pain, the heavy emotional weight in this movie absolutely works, and mostly i still dig the story, although i feel like it just wasn't the best story to finish a trilogy, and the pacing i feel a bit too slow, i must admit i did get a bit bored towards the end, but if you expected a spectacular big war between the human and the Apes, well you will be disappointed, as i feel like the word "War" in the title was more of like Escaping the War and try to survive rather than a straight War between the two tribes, again i don't think it was bad, it was still good for the most part, maybe i like it better after rewatch, but as for now, overall War For The Planet Of The Apes was not a bad movie, it's good for the most part, and in terms of technical aspects it was incredible, but storywise might not be the best and little problem with the pacing, so overall it was an ok finish of a trilogy, but it definitely could be better.

The trick to a Matt Reeves film is to steal secondhand. His Planet of the Apes movies are total composites; there is nothing original about the stories they tell, nothing unique about how they look, no ideas in them that haven’t already been thoroughly explored elsewhere. They’re genre pastiches with the ape skin cheat code turned on.

Admittedly Im not a big fan of planet of the apes universe. Even so, this movie managed to retread every cliché and contrivance they could. The animals are rediculously anthropomorphized and idealized. To the point that there is no discernible contrast. Except of course that men evil and apes good. Really strange casting choices and overacting. Trying to lend such gravitas to something so poorly executed kills the story.

'War for the Planet of the Apes' wraps up a great trilogy strongly. I enjoyed this installment just as much as its two predecessors, all three films are just supremely entertaining and are very well put together. Caesar is a terrific character and continues to look fantastic in this; the special effects are top notch, even the way the apes are shown in shot is expertly done. The additions of Bad Ape and Nova are neat, too. I'd personally rank it above 'Dawn' but below 'Rise', though there isn't much between them at all. Intrigued to see where they go with the proposed spin-off(s).

Just an amazing movie and tied with rise for me. Its just so good man, the scenes in the concentration camp are the highlight.

A fine conclusion to this re-booted franchise. For what is in the main an action movie there is a fair amount of depth and character development going on.

The war for the planet of the monkeys is the last part of the trilogy and it succeeded. Although it does not surpass the first part, it surpasses the second. It has a good location and the story is better. The action as in the previous parts is excellent and the effects are wonderful. War for the Planet of the Apes is a great movie. There are a lot of heavy, dramatic sequences and I would say this movie compromises entertainment for meaningful content. Everything serves the characters and story. This movie has death, suffering, plight, heroism and empathy. The effects are astonishing.. Apparently this movie requires an active viewer. A person actually has to show up, absorb the content of a film that will not pander to, "give me action" needs. It is surprising to me that the third film in this trilogy would improve so much on the previous two films. The music both blends in and adds to the drama/action. Beautiful camera work in interesting locations, and several unique characters. This movie is full of great character building, and all the big moments really land where they should. Overall, you should watch it for yourself and shouldn't believe in negative reviews. Those who gave negative reviews to this movie are those who wanted only fight/ action scenes and those who don't have knowledge of pure cinema.

I have only seen, like, the first half of the first movie, so plunging straight into this one was probably not the best idea. As far as i can tell, it's an average story, with lots of downtime and an insane production value. This movie is like christmas for every vfx enthusiast, but I just think that the more philosophical aspects - if you can even call themn that - are almost utterly abandoned, which I personally don't like that much.

Favourite movie of all time, which surprised even me. Have watched it multiple times after the initial viewing and my thoughts haven't changed. I typically prefer more critically-lauded films but for some reason I absolutely loved this brilliant end to the Apes trilogy.

Where the hell is war!too slow and boring!amazing music it was thrilling and good at emotional moments specially at climax!the visuals were stunning and actions was less but good!screenplay was bad it felt too stretched and boring.story was fresh and too realistic which is good but the way every thing turned out it was bad!acting was good Andy was phenomenal his expressions were wonderful,woody was literally amazing as villain although he has he's point of view,the girl was adorable and amazing,the new Ape was funny .the slaughter scene was dark and by that shades of dark how Ceaser got the mind of revenge was amazing but the way woody was i was stunned yaa he was having issues with world!starting 30 mins were amazing and refreshing then after slaughtering the journey and the prison i felt all pointless,it became mission rescuing rather than war but it was realistic and true to flow of story but dissapointment to me!climax was emotional and great.overall it was way too slow and boring,Good as per performances and fresh take as apes story compare to prequels it wasn't that good prequels were fun and amazing.

As usual the best part of a movie from the Planet of the Apes franchise is the story part. Fortunately this movie is not only about action as hint in the title, so I enjoyed this movie. The story itself reveals interestingly, the actors are great and the actions scenes were well done. Anyway the mainstream scenes (slow emotional kitsch and dumb dialogues for example screaming) were annoying, especially the little girl was pure kitsch.

This is really a 7.5 for me, I rounded up mainly because I loved the first 2 movies. The time jump and development in the apes culture from 1 to 2 was great but this one kind of picks up right from number 2. I think it would have been better with the laters formula.

Enfin la conclusion de la "pré-trilogie", de ce qui s'est passé avant l'épisode fondateur, à savoir le tout premier film que cette "conclusion" donne envie de (re)revoir encore une fois... on peut donc remercier ce "Suprématie" qui termine ainsi l'avènement de la planète des singes, au moins pour cela, oui. Il faut dire qu'évidemment le premier film était une excellente adaptation du très bon bouquin de Pierre Boulle... et qu'ils ont trouvé ici (les scénaristes, je suppose qu'ils sont plusieurs) une origine cocasse au nom de Nova... non Mamie n'a rien à voir là-dedans mais c'est presque aussi débile, ma foi ! Mais ce n'est pas le plus gênant parmi toutes les conneries que peut aligner ce film entre autres raccourcis aberrants, un film par ailleurs très bien réalisé et aux jolis effets spéciaux... "César" se prend donc pour Jésus et le manichéisme réducteur est ici utilisé à plein régime : qu'ils sont trop gentils les pauvres singes... et qu'ils sont trop méchants les méchants humains ! ils ne méritent que de crever sauf quelques uns ou quelques unes qui ne savent (déjà) plus dire un mot... Les singes sont donc très gentils, pas autant que Gandhi mais presque... et tellement gentiment anthropomorphiques qu'ils sombrent (déjà) dans la guimauve à deux balles (on se croirait dans Santa Barbara putain !) et l'héroïsme plus paternaliste qu'un western avec John Wayne. Bordel ! Très décevant tout ça, donc... et limite très con !

Reasonably good conclusion to Apes trilogy. Very derivative in many ways but very strong visually and musically.

It is very rare that a modern film trilogy doesn’t have a bad entry in the series but it is even rarer that every film in the series is brilliant in its own right. Any fears of the last part of the trilogy being a let down were quickly squashed as the critics gave high praise to the summer’s best intellectual blockbuster. In War for the Planet of the Apes, we rejoin Caesar and his apes as they are forced into a deadly conflict with an army of humans led by a merciless Colonel. After the ape family suffer unthinkable losses, Caesar struggles with his darker instincts and his ideas for vengeance against humankind. As the ape’s epic journey brings Caesar and the Colonel face to face, they are drawn into a monumental battle that will determine the fate of the planet. Not a single frame is wasted by director Matt Reeves. The film is full of stunning cinematography from start to finish; with dazzling sets and locations which transport you deep into the middle of the ape’s world. War for the Planet of the Apes has probably the best use of CGI and motion capture ever committed to film. Caesar’s character has been rapidly developing throughout the series and now in the close ups, you can clearly see Andy Serkis in there more than ever before. All of his facial expressions are realised and you feel exactly how he is feeling. Caesar has become mythical himself and will go down as one of the most compelling characters in modern cinema. The stunning musical score by Michael Giacchino is completely wonderful. It heightens the experience, enhances moments of silence, captures the tension and suspense and overall suits the material to a T. Giacchino is quickly cementing himself as one of the all time great film score composers. Like the other previous entries, there are many Easter-eggs and links to the series. But this time the links are much more accessible to casual fans. The script expertly sets up the state of the humans in the original 1968 film while also setting up one of the original characters in a charming way. There is much-needed humour injected into the film with the addition of the new character Bad Ape. Throughout the film’s sombre tone and dark setting, he provides some uplift. While being a hilarious and endearing character, he also surprisingly gives some of the most touching moments. War for the Planet of the Apes is a stunning conclusion to Caesar’s story but also an incredible film in its own right. It’s the completion of a masterful trilogy which works extremely well as a whole story linking together. The Apes prequel series can now be added to the list of the greatest film trilogies of all time after pulling off the near impossible of not featuring one bad film.

A great end to a surprisingly great franchise, I actually think this is the best of the three.

For starters, this movie is a technological marvel and will hold up for years to come. The CGI of the apes is nothing short of amazing and you never think it’s CGI, you believe those are actual animals with personalities. Even the camerawork makes it even more believable, because you get close ups of these apes and the apes don’t look any less believable which is very hard to do with CGI. The use of real sets and how seamlessly it blends with the CGI is another marvel because in many movies today I can easily see were CGI has been placed, but this movie does a marvelous job of using both practical and digital affects. Lastly, the king of motion capture, the man, the myth, the legend Andy Serkis! What else can I say about this man that hasn’t already been said about him in these movies. The man gives another Oscar worthy performance as Caesar and shows a totally different dynamic of the character. You see through his performance that Caesar is in a totally different place and has just had it with settling with the humans and fights only to protect his kind. Andy Serkis brings this character to life yet again through his great emotional movements and expressions he brings to life as the king of motion capture. You also see Andy Serkis bring all new, damaged, aspects of the character. You see Caesar still trying to cope with the events of Dawn that Koba caused and him still thinking about what could’ve been if they didn’t happen. You also see a scene where Caesar make a decision that goes against all of his ideals, but you find a way to agree with this decision, and Caesar acknowledges that it’s his own flaw. Andy Serkis deserves an Oscar nomination for this performance, while he probably won’t get one he solidifies himself as one of the best actors in the business. Andy Serkis will forever be the king of all apes only known as Ceasar. I thought that this movie was a compete masterpiece, but I did have to nitpick some things for the sake of this review. To start off, towards the end while the apes are attempting a mission a lot of conveniences happened so the plan is taking shape. While that cliche is used in almost every movie, it was a little too obvious while I watching the movie. Secondly, the little girl in the movie, while she did a fine job I couldn’t say she was irreplaceable. This being because a kid actor who has to speak with the performance is, to me, automatically compared to Dafne Keen in Logan. When I compared the two performances, Keen’s performance kills the other girls performance, she did do a good job but didn’t shine as much as Keen did in Logan for a child actor. Lastly, I would have to say that Battle for the Planet of the Apes would’ve been a better title because war isn’t the main focus of the story, more like a significant part in the third act that the movie led to. The last little problem I had with this movie was the act **** human character in the movie. Don’t get me wrong, I love being with Caesar more than with humans. But, in the first two, you saw certain human characters that made the decision of siding with either the apes or humans harder for me as I was watching the movies. Along with being a great action movie, the drama is in the forefront and is a great thought provoking movie.

I regret that i didnt watch this in cinemas. Would've been awesome. Every time i watch a Planet of the Apes movie i start with a mindset "yeah this is gonna be an average Hollywood movie". And especially on this movie i was blown away. This movie has beautiful images, heartbreaking scenes (i had tears in my eyes, havent had that for a long time), a mindblowing stories and the Apes are animited beautifully like in the previous movies, but a little bit better than the last times. This was my movie of the year 2017, together with Baby Driver. This is the best movie out **** triology and a ending i didnt expect. In general the movie isnt really predictable and if you watch it with the regisseurs comments you now how much work and love they put in this movie. I rarely give a 10/10, but this movie really deserve it.

War for the Planet of the Apes was gut-wrenchingly epic. Andy Serkis gives the best performance of his career, the visual effects are stunning, and the visual storytelling is down-right poetic at times.

What for a horrible ending ruined everything This ending is not sad it is frustrating

Despite it's strong first half hour, great acting and impressive CGI effects, War For the Planet of the Apes, while being better than the second movie, still manages to be inferior to the first instalment. With annoying secondary characters, cringe worthy humour and unnecessary and ineffective drama, a predictable and cliché story and an overly long running time, the movie will probably not keep you interested for the entirety of it's running time. If you really enjoyed the previous movies you may enjoy this one, if not, you'll probably be better off watching something else.

Dark, boring, predictable, and pretty much pointless. It wasn't horrible, **** was by no means "good". Just because you get some CGI creatures to do some acting via real actors, does not mean your film is good. This film is far from the original planet of the apes, and honestly...resembles it in 0 ways. It was the most boring film I have seen in a while, esp for an "action" movie, and even yet, I enjoy some boring movies if they actually teach me something about life or the world, this film did none of those things. It was boring and pointless and just meandered thinking of Ceasar mostly, not much happening, and a pretty stupid movie full of a bunch of predictable movie cliches as well. Mediocre film, and not even worth the title of "planet of the apes" More like a disney version that was dark, boring, but yet had no blood and is a sanitized pile of poor "entertainment". 5/10.

Another not innovative movie, that follow the same mistakes 75% of today's movie make. The plot was lacking a lot, and there could have been a lot more to this movie. The writing was just simply lazy. Directing style and editing style was rather average, and there was nothing new that an action movie could add. The actors where OK, and the pacing of the story was all right as well. But the story left desiring and it had no real message in the end. Which is the other thing, this title was the ending episode of this trilogy, and they made it too cliche and unsatisfying. And the biggest mistake was that it wasn't that much fun to watch than the first 'Apes' movie, and sadly wasn't entertaining enough to drag in new audiences. Also the visual effects where good, but exaggerated and straight out of a Michael Bay movie, which at this point is just boring. Overall it's a slightly above average movie.

What a spectacular conclusion to a superior trilogy. It may not be the bombastically action-packed finale that would be expected from a title like "War for the Planet of the Apes," but this film finishes the Apes origins saga in a way that's far more gripping, intelligent, and thought-provoking than a blockbuster could ever be expected to be. Caesar ought to be cemented as one of cinema's most memorable characters. This movie completes his arc so powerfully as he--for the first time in the trilogy--confronts his demons and learns what it truly means to lead. The motion-capture is perhaps the best ever put to film as the apes' emotions are so effectively portrayed. Caesar is old, tired, and battle-hardened, as are his primate companions, and it shows. The human characters here are also arguably the best of the three films as the morality of all sides of the conflict are explored. Rather than painting this war as a black-and-white good ape vs. evil human sort of struggle, the story shows it to be a psychological war. It's a deeply complex political tragedy where evil deeds are done with the best intentions. It's thought-provoking in a way that is rarely seen in cinema today Although it is the most effective of the trilogy, War does suffer from some very sluggish pacing. Slow-burning stories are not always bad, but this one does not have enough locations or differing events to keep it engaging throughout the entire runtime. The dialogue is sufficiently intelligent to mostly make up for it, but the film seems to end in a disappointingly abrupt way that doesn't quite serve as a payoff for the long, bleak drama that led up to it. Nitpicks aside, War for the Planet of the Apes is an emotionally exhausting sci-fi tale that adds the perfect cap to the provocative themes and poignant character arcs of its predecessors and makes this trilogy one of the best sci-fi series ever put to screen. War for the Planet of the Apes was one of my favorite from the Planet of the Ape movies. The special effects were out of this world! The war scenes were so incredible. The powerful story line keeps you on the edge of your seat for the entire movie. Along with that, I found myself siding with the apes, especially Caesar. You are drawn in from beginning to end. Be prepared to be emotional throughout the entire movie. A few funny scenes are throughout the movie to keep you involved. This is definitely a movie you could watch over and over.

This movie was an amazing end to the prequel trilogy. All of the prequel movies were fantastic and this was the perfect end to it all.

I am so happy that I got to see this movie, it's a beautiful ending to one of the best reboot trilogy's, the CGI and acting was perfect as well! I highly suggest you watch this movie I give it a 10/10
