It's beautiful, this was my first Superman movie and it felt like a big hug or coming home after a long day, I am never going back to Marvel after this, especially with how they are blowing it right now, this genuinely gave me hope for a better tomorrow

He is Superboy, he is not yet to be Superman in this movie. Nobody respects him and he surely don’t respect himself. There’s too many flaws within the story. People criticize Man of Steel cause is was way to “dark”, but the scene of Lex Luthor with a gun is so family friendly (if you saw the movie then you know what I mean). The cast has potential is they are giving the right script, Mr Terrific is the best part of the movie. Anyone else felt that Gunn didn’t gave them the correct script to their cast.

A pure-hearted, accessible film that modernizes and refines the Man of Steel. Amidst the presentation of some complex issues the film brings up, its main strength is showing how Superman confronts those with a kind of naivete, innocence and blind benevolence. Rather than try to tease apart many of the sociopolitical complexities subtly raised by the film, it does as its main character does: Tackles them with the idea that above all else, purity of intent, kindness, benevolence and the preservation of human life supersede all other issues. Some will see this as an oversimplification, while others (like myself) will find that perhaps there is something simpler to everything than how we see it. Neither perspective is "wrong," though some may wish to see Superman approach such complexities differently. Overall, I think this is a thoughtful and respectful portrayal of Superman (and the other characters surrounding him), and one of my favourite James Gunn movies.

Superman 2025This film opens with a timeline of events from the point superpowered beings first appeared on earth, to the moments of superman's defeat against his evil clone, ultraman. I'm not sure what this first scene is supposed to do. We're told a history of superman's being on planet earth,, but that isn't enough to understand Superman's character. We're told he's some godlike figure that originates from great events without actually seeing why he or these events are great. That is where this film fails in telling the story of Superman. We are meant to believe Superman is important but that sense of importance is not actually crafted. I think the best way i can describe James Gunn's style of filmmaking is to hide flat storytelling under quirky, zany direction. His style of filmmaking is to craft off-beat scenes where exaggerated characters plot through uncomfortably awkward dialogue and perplexing events, all set against a backdrop of aesthetically stimulating cinematography and effects. His films are entertaining and they leave an impression, but during the entirety of this film, you can't ignore the sense that the story is told in a flat rhythm. Everything moves at the same tempo, and there's not a lot of detail stands out that you can distinguish from the rest. James Gunn compensates for this by adding his own quirks and comedy, but it is still very restrained in how it is shown to us. This works in the films favor if all James Gunn wanted to do was tell an overarching plotline of a Superman story that includes all the important parts and smooths over any details, but it makes the film very forgettable. This film doesn't really leave an impression in our minds except for the weirdness of it. A lot of this film doesn't make sense to me, and it disturbs me to think about it in any way that does. Why did Superman's planet explode killing everybody but he barely escapes? Why does he pretend to be a normal person when he deals with things normal people never deal with? And if he wants to be a normal person, why does he live alone in a crystal fortress in antartica? Why is he fighting an evil clone of himself? Why are monsters constantly appearing out of nowhere to destroy Metropolis? Why are there pocket dimensions where people are kept prisoners in? How are we supposed to understand what black holes and anti-matter rivers are when those things are just theories in our world? Do any of these things even make sense? I don't think so, and it'd be scary if they did. James Gunn is ambitious with his storytelling to try to fit all of these ideas in one movie, but this film isn't able to show why Superman or the events surrounding him are so great. James Gunn took on a gargantuan task of showing how one man can represent abstract truths that most people don't even comprehend. Sure we understand these things in our own ways, but saying one person represents them is absurd because those definitions will change in our minds. We'll see multiple things as "truth" or "justice" or "the American way" that all contradict each other. How can we expect one man to represent all these contradicting things? I'm not sure how any director is supposed to show that. I criticized this film for James Gunn's style of director, but considering the story he's trying to tell, what could we really expect? Superman comics are incredibly large stories that go over the heads of most people. How should he have translated any of this into films we can understand? The comic book medium is very different than films. There's a level of realism we expect in films that we don't in comic books. I think James Gunn made the best attempt he could, but it'd be impossible to satisfy everyone with this film. Without James Gunn's sensibilities that make this film lively, sincere and not overly self-serious, a Superman story would be very uncomfortable and insane like the Zack Snyder DC verse. Personally, I don't need to see anymore from superhero comics in general, but this film definitely deserves a A for effort and quality. It's excellently made and incredibly entertaining, and every single person involved did an outstanding job. I'm happy to watch this again, or anything James Gunn is making. But I have an uncomfortable feeling about this film that won't go away no matter how much I try to like it. As much as I enjoy silly, imaginative things, I don't think I can ignore how silly and weird all this is. All power to you smarty-pants that are fans of this kind of stuff. But as someone who failed upper level physics (like an honors program for high school), never understood anything about chemistry, only passed trigonometry because my teacher was kind hearted, and has no idea how he passed calculus (don't ever ask me what a derivative is), I don't think this stuff is for me. And honestly, I'm ok with that.

All very post GOTG James Gunn, never quite gets the balance between funny and serious so sits in no mans land. Very average. Jimmy Olsen is basically Alan Partridge. Holt is very goos. Lois is as annoying and self righteous as ever but played well by RB.

Overall, it was a good film. The people were right it is just like a comic book. It was very brightly colored and lighthearted. Superman himself is very lighthearted and caring. It is especially memorable when he saved the squirrel form being squished. Good casting for superman. Its nice that Krypto finally gets shown, his strength was unexpected. This version of Lex Luthor should put on some weight, to be more like a Jabba the Hut Mob boss as in the Superman cartoon. But Luthor otherwise did a good job at being a villain. The best scene is where superman is using his laser vision against multiple enemies. It was very emotional when the people were being invaded and they raised superman's banner and chanted his name hoping he would save them. I had to take a point off for the depiction of Superman's parents. This was not necessary, and really disliked. Also had to take a point off because Supergirl's behavior is just so wrong. She was not needed in the film if she is going to act so crass.

Superman is by far the best Superman movie. No other film has given him such a faithful and profound representation. Christopher Reece's Superman was the best for a long time until this movie came along. What I love most is that the film feels comic book-like but at the same time can be taken seriously. And i love this version of lex luthor My only criticisms are that Clark Kent's alter ego barely appears and that it has unnecessary characters that were redundant

This new Superman soars in this confident heartfelt reboot that brings the Man of Steel back to his comic-book roots in truth, justice and old-fashioned optimism. It's not revolutionary, it's inspiring and that's more than enough.

Really enjoyed it! Felt very "comic book-y". Didn't like how they turned the El's into bad people, though. That and the few lines describing Supergirl were probably the only things I didn't like. But, the thing about the El's could be easily retconned, if they want... hopefully they do.

A bombastic and snarky take on the Superman character that is trademark James Gunn. It's not worth comparing this iteration with its predecessors as it's a completely different interpretation of the source material.

Just watched Superman for the second time, the first being probably five months ago. It really is a terrific superman movie. The best Superman movies wear their hearts on their sleeve, and this one certainly does. I also love the actors, the script and the action. Very much looking forward to the next one, and also how this new iteration of the DC universe evolves. So far, so good!

Gunn gets it. Everyone knows who Superman is. We don't need a drawn-out introduction, just get us into the action. Casting is great; Tudyk is funny as Gary, Corenswet does a great job as Superman, and Hoult is a perfect Luthor. This is one of my all-time favourite superhero movies because it doesn't try to be anything its not.

Greetings from Lithuania. "Superman" (2025) is a movie that i didn't expect anything from it, and after watching it at home (skipped the movie theater due to total fatigue for superhero flicks long time ago) and i can say that it didn't surprised me a bit. Like it is OK film so see it once and has some good moments, but overall it is everything one would expect from a film from James Gunn. Like he adds to a Superman what he add to Suicide Squad and more to Guardians of the Galaxy. His humor is here, and that is the thing that worked for some parts. But also this same humour prevents me to take this film seriously when things just happening on screen, and you have already seen this stuff done till death at this point. The third act of the film i couldn't care about the outcome because of plot armor we know that they will try to milk this franchise to death so all of the characters will have to return.Overall, i honestly think that this new DC universe is going to fail very quickly at the box office, and that is all that matter for creators here - clearly. This "Superman" is just a soulless attempt to cash the cow, but even with their biggest name like Superman it barely made any money, and i don't think that next film Supergirl will do any better, quite the opposite. On it's own it is a just an OK film at its best, but doesn't bring anything new to the ill fated superhero genre at this point. I honestly liked all previous Superman movies more, especially "Man of Steel" was way better.

Action sequences are a solid 10, but the story and dialogue are not even a 2. In this kind of movie, you know a hero defeats a villain, but how they do it is what makes it interesting, yet nothing new. Same structure they always use.

This film is a beautiful mess. Gone (thankfully) is the brooding, "be not afraid" Superman of Henry Cavill, and he is replaced by a human being who just happens to be an alien. Despite some inclusions in the film, there is no political messaging. The message is safe but wonderfully done, and it is simply to care for everyone. And, unlike Marvel, it doesn't feel like it means that in a stoic, "fight for your friends" way, even though that's what happens in the movie (spoilers, I guess lol). Speaking as a huge (pre-Endgame, though much of the newer stuff too) Marvel fan, this is better than most of those films. Superman 2025 is fully immersed in the zany rainbow of superhumans and doesn't once try to explain itself. It has some pacing issues here and there but ultimately this film is just fun and wholesome. No one stops to brood or make big important speeches. There are no characters in this film as far as I'm concerned, just people, with all their complexities and imperfections, and they live in this comic book world and they and us as the audience just have to deal with that. Also, this isn't a Guardians of the Galaxy movie. It's less funny and has less music (though the choices are still perfect when they show up). This film is unique and fully sincere, and it doesn't try to hide it or drown it in a modern spin. This is a silly comic book movie with a serious comic book message, and it was fun and at some points it made me cry and it didn't stop to take a breath through the whole run time. This is the first Superman movie I have watched that is not only good and not only cinematic, but genuinely fun, lovable and infectiously rewatchable. If you don't give a damn about comic book movies, you'd probably at least still enjoy this film. If you do, you'll probably love it. Unless you're a Snyder fan, in which case agree to disagree and you'll probably despise this movie.

****. Tone is off, plot is riddled with holes, characters and plot are written poorly. Put aside the bright colors and flashy action sequences, and you're left with a mess. Gunn should have delegated writer and director duties to someone who knew and respected the titular character and source material. As it stands, this movie just plays like every other James Gunn comic book adaptation, using a mold that does not work with Superman, because Supes is not Star-Lord. He's not the Suicide Squad. The Justice League is not his usual band of irreverent miscreants. One size does not fit all, and this movie serves as case in point. James Gunn is a one trick pony, and that trick is tired.

Superman is a good first step to introduce the mainstream film audience into the DC mythos. James Gun finds good balance between the edgy elseworld inaccuracy of Zack Snyder, and the over-the-top sometimes eye-rolling clichès of Joss Whedon. Pros: The film has a completely original story that still hits the essentials of the characters at heart. Superman's sincerity and kindness, Luthor's psychopathy and secondhandeness, Lois's assertiveness and tact were all portrayed great thanks to both the writing and acting. The story was appropriately about a existential threat and highly incorporated his farmville lifestyle, whereas some previous Superman adaptations fail whenever they are overtly about his power and mysticism. I also enjoyed the film's cinematography and motif. It has lush coloration, bloom, and wide encompassing shots, especially compared to the current state of the genre. The film also has decent comedy and action without its runtime being consumed by it. Cons: While the story overall was novel and heartwarming, there is a bigproblem with it head-bashing about the ongoing Isreal-Palestine conflict, and it isn't impartial about the nuances to say the least. I think it's fine to draw parallels to the real world's events and even take a position on them, but making them almost identical iconography and blindly good vs. evil is bordering offensive. Was also disappointed that Krypto was relegated to a Jar Jar Binks-esque comic relief. While not often, he can bog down most scenes he's in (notably a scenenear the end). There was also some backlash against some altering of the Superman's backstory in the film, but I didn't mind this change much as I think it helped reinforce the theme and focus on Clark's upbringing. Overall, a nice romp for DC fans and newcomers alike. Pretty heartwarming and intriguing, hopefully sets the standard for mainstream superhero movies from here.

Superman is a good movie better than man of steel. Superman 2025 is a comic book movie and not used in a political way people want us to think. With that a side the movies biggest flaw the pacing is way to fast it goes from scene to scene without any breaks until right before the final **** movie is like Superman The animated seirses and it does it well. The DCU is off to a strong start.

An ambitious attempt to reboot the DC Universe and a decent piece of entertainment. The plot is solid, even if quite predictable to say the least, with some engaging ideas. Far from great, but the movie lives up to the hype in some way.

A somewhat different take on Superman movies. Less of a love story and more an action movie. I would say they struck a nice balance between the Reeves & Cavill movies. This was made more in the spirit of a Marvel Movie (Pre-endgame).

A mostly poor film where they try very hard to add humour, but it keeps failing. The CGI is decent enough I guess! You know when they added Scrappy Doo that DC is on its way out! And then there was the addition of Supergirl at the end, just to reiterate the point! I won't be watching it again!

It was a decent super hero movie. Honestly, one of the best parts of it was how self contained it was, despite the plethora of characters. It was a Superman movie though, so everything's pretend stakes. I'm just not entirely sure this movie truly had a message, or theme. People change at the drop of a hat pretty regularly and they didn't do a good job of adapting the Superman of the comics, even if it was the better adaptation we've had in several years. Decent enough movie though. Watch it for free on your streaming service.

“Superman looks big and expensive, but the story feels recycled. The villain isn’t well-defined, the tone swings between gloomy and jokey, and the Justice League reads more like a distraction than real support. With thin character work and too many loud CGI set pieces, it never finds real stakes—and I was extremely excited that the movie was over.” A waste of time.

This film makes Quest for Peace look good! So much garbage it’s hard to know where to start. From the complete miss casting of David who delivers his lines like Brendan Fraser in The Mummy! A script that really feels like Gunn wrote it in one evening. Awful fisheye flight sequences. So much money wasted on a film that fails to respect the legacy. It feels like Gunn has treated Superman as Disney treated Starwars.

Si eres un lisiado mental que aplaude como una foco un discurso progre sobre inmigración, si amas el CGI y las tramas absurdas sin justificación ninguna, es tu película. Superman es un lisiado mental en su propia película, es lamentable.

This movie surprised me. I have never loved a Superman movie; I wasn't a fan growing up either. This move was good though. It had heart. It was a good movie that actually made you care about Superman. I was also worried about the directors' political motives (and there is political part), but it didn't detract from the movie in a negative way. I'm glad I watched this movie and would highly recommend for all ages.

I have been a fan of Superman since watching the re-runs of the George Reeves Superman of the 50s.Christopher Reeve was great and Henry Cavill was excellent. The other Supermen were all invincible unless he was exposed to kryptonite. He was also intellegent and in control. This movie made him vulnerable and less than intellegent. I found the movie slow and drawn out. There's no way I could recommend this and hope they can relaunch more like Henry Cavill's Superman, especially in the Justice League Superman. Hopefully, they'll do better.

For a first solo superman movie in the new DCU to have so many characters is baffling to me, when you are supposed to focus on superman's character development. Most people who don't read comics don't know these guys and they are just thrown in with not enough screentime to understand their characters properly. The movie also has such a plain and simple bad guy who lacks the different layers of motivations to make a him a standout supervillain. The movie also has weird flying sequences of superman's head zoomed in by the camera that is worse than MoS which is 12 years older!!

This was supposed to be a "summer blockbuster" I guess. Well, it felt like a "movie with Superman" but not a "Superman" movie. I don't even know what Luthor wanted to achieve in the end. The humour fell flat. The Justice Gang was stupid. I cared about nobody. There was virtually no Clark Kent. A movie doesn't have a heart just because the protagonist says so. Krypto was the only redeeming quality of this thing.
