There is some up and down in this sequel of the Mortal Kombat reboot. As the tournament begin for real, everything seems focus on the new characters of Johnny Cage and Kitana, and every fights around Shao Khan. Everything else seems... left on the side. Kombats shift between average to very good, like the main plot, twisted between good ideas and a lack of creativity. In the end, the movie is quite entertaining, but I was expecting better.

A reboot of the universe and the story, based on the popular video game, with the will and the money to make things right. Cheesy but funny, the movie introduce a new character (probably because there's not enough good characters in the franchise) and try to give the old ones some reality. Unfortunately, there's is no real Mortal Kombat here, despite some good fights scenes. and no real character development, as it seems to be only the beginning of the story. But there is at least a good piece of entertainment.

Supergirl is the typical story of a badass looser, finding her own way by helping a young girl in her path of revenge. Blend in the usual dull orange/blue colors of "the Flash", the plot is quite average, like most of the character's performances. I was expecting a great character and a good storyline, based on the comic book "Woman of Tomorrow". All I've got was a waste of money and a waste of time...

Through the journey of a father and his son, Sirât unfolds as a dramatic crossing of the desert, where rave parties set against the backdrop of global war reflect a world drifting toward collapse. The desert itself becomes a bridge to the afterlife, while the hardships of the journey mirror the fragility of our own lives. If the story ultimately plays like an allegory for the absurdity and futility of human existence, the director still delivers a striking visual and sonic experience that is unlikely to leave viewers indifferent.

Dangerous Animals is a typical thriller/horror B-movie, with Jai Courtney and Hassie Harrison playing the hunter and the prey on a boat surrounded by sharks. Actors' performances are convincing, the plot is decent and the pacing solid enough to give some thrills till the end. Far from great, but at least entertaining.

Jackie Chan and Tony Leung face to face in the Chinese remake of Eye in the Sky, made in 2007. Even if the storyline seems to stretch a bit too long at some point, this typical thriller/action movie smells that old Hong Kong spicy flavor, offering a compelling plot, two great action stars and a large casting of decent new faces. A solid Jackie Chan performance, definitely worth the watch.

Paul Thomas Anderson delivers a quirky/wacky movie, likely to illustrate the woke era following Covid-19 in the USA. At first, the story seems engaging, then it becomes only entertaining. Visually, everything is most of the time ordinary, with no real good choices in the soundtrack, and the actors' performances are quite average. Overall decent, but in my view, it's not really a masterpiece worthy of praise...

Inspired by the "Hamlet" masterpiece, the movie starts like a typical revenge story, then shifts around death, love, redemption, and the madness of mankind. Visually stunning, with engaging characters, the mix of medieval and modern era feels a bit odd, when everything could have been told from the same "fantasy" point of view... The end seems a bit naive, but give some Ghibli's Studio inspired vibes. A compelling anime, far from great, but worth the watch.

Him is a weird mix of horror and fiction, using professional football as a compelling metaphor of modern life. Visually polished and disturbing, the storyline focus around ambition, showing the path to success as a way to madness. A satire somehow of virility and fame, brilliant indeed, but clumsy at the same time.

Set in the American South in 1932, the film initialy portrays a fragile, segregated rural society, where blues music powerfully espresses a deep longing for freedom. As the story shifts into horror, it becomes an ironic warning against sin and the forces of darkness. Visually inspired and compelling, Sinners hides beneath its B-movie surface a surprisingly rich exploration of human nature. Definitely worth the watch !

The rise and fall of Robert Oppenheimer unfolds in a brilliant yet very long narrative. Christopher Nolan takes his time exploring the scientist’s doubts during the race to win World War II, as well as the moral dilemma he faces in the pursuit of atomic power on the brink of the Cold War. Solid overall, but at times cold and distant — much like Oppenheimer himself.

A story of rise, fall, and redemption, shot in the style of a 1990s documentary to create a sense of authenticity. Unfortunately, the film lacks narrative cohesion in its long, disjointed slices-of-life scenes, and it fails to establish a consistent tone or atmosphere to keep the viewer invested. Ultimately, it never delivers anything truly compelling.

I was expecting better. Joe Carnahan delivers an average B-movie with a solid plot, but Matt Damon and Ben Affleck’s performances do not raise the stakes to a higher level. Much of the narrative feels predictable, and the few twists are unfortunately too good to be true. Decent, but far from great.

A decent sci-fi movie, about friendship and family, mixed with action and comedy. But a bad "Predator" story...

A challenging and divisive film, that reaches for thematic depth but only partially delivers. The Long Walk explores male friendship under pressure, endurance, and a critique of a sacrificed generation, yet its slow pacing and repetitive structure could undermine these ideas. The central metaphor — life as an inevitable march toward death — is clear, but maybe heavy handed. While the ending lingers a bit too long, the film’s strong visual direction ultimately makes it worth experiencing.

Decent, but a bit disappointing. Glen Powell performance is convincing, but the storyline has only a few good ideas to offer and the plot no big surprises to deliver. At least, action and comedy brings some entertainment, but in the end, the movie fails to deliver something great to remember.

As usual, Ethan Hunt must save the world on a mission obviously impossible to achieve. The first part of this long movie seems only there to tie the strings of a predicable plot, showing in some way Ethan Hunt as the Messiah, ready again to risk everything on the usual all-in gambit. But the second part is breathtaking and the climax delivers one of the most gripping action scene ever. Not the best "Mission : Impossible", hopefully the last, but worth the watch.

Mappa studio delivers an epic high-quality animation movie, with a engaging storyline ending on a crazy final act. Some characters may feel left behind, while everything seems to focus only around the main protagonist Denji and his true/false romance. But even if some questions in the final have yet no answers, this action-fueled adventure is really something worth the watch.

A polished retro-futuristic reboot with an inspired artistic direction that pays tribute to the original comics. The straightforward plot has the merit of bringing the Fantastic Four face to face with Galactus and the Silver Surfer, all within a decent storyline. The film is undeniably entertaining, even if it ultimately lacks a bit of boldness and originality.
