I don't know what passes for good these days. This is over acted, frankly nonsensical, immersion is rapidly broken. Basically, you can't make a movie just with pretty actress and good looking actors and call it a day, there needs to be some substance and this substance cannot be just loud and overplayed. Did I mention it was overplayed? It is.

Not as good as Stepford Wives but I enjoyed it probably because I love these types of movies. I guess this is a more updated version of The Stepford Wives. I don't know what I would do in that situation because technically, she lives a good life, but not knowing what was happening from the get-go would be frustrating.

Alice (Florence Pugh) and Jack (Harry Styles) are lucky to be living in the idealized community of Victory, the experimental company town housing the men who work for the top-secret Victory Project and their families. The 1950’s societal optimism espoused by their CEO, Frank (Chris Pine)—equal parts corporate visionary and motivational life coach—anchors every aspect of daily life in the tight-knit desert utopia. While the husbands spend every day inside the Victory Project Headquarters, working on the “development of progressive materials,” their wives—including Frank’s elegant partner, Shelley (Gemma Chan)—get to spend their time enjoying the beauty, luxury and debauchery of their community. Life is perfect, with every resident’s needs met by the company. All they ask in return is discretion and unquestioning commitment to the Victory cause. But when cracks in their idyllic life begin to appear, exposing flashes of something much more sinister lurking beneath the attractive façade, Alice can’t help questioning exactly what they’re doing in Victory, and why. Just how much is Alice willing to lose to expose what’s really going on in this paradise?

While I can understand the criticism some have of don’t worry darling, I think it was an overall good movie with interesting plot twists that left you on the edge of your seat, a bit over-hated tbh

A good psychological thriller. I seen this types of movies, but I can't say it is bad.

This is a really interesting movie. The problem is it doesn't finish well. First something that is so well acted by Pegh, who really makes the film because she is so amazing in playing who she is to be, the rest of the film is just so vague. It's really disappointing in that regard. So it's okay in the end but the vagueness really makes the film empty.

Don't Worry Darling creates a sensation outside the big screen with its scandals, yet it's not just that. The movie on the screen is one of the best of the year. Olivia Wilde's directing is surprisingly top-notch. When Matthew Libatique's images, Affonso Gonçalves' editing, and especially John Powell's music are combined with the director's vision, we receive a fantastic movie. But of course, it has to be admitted that Florence Pugh dragged the film alone. I have to say that the actress, whom I have followed fondly since Lady Macbeth, fully embraced the film despite everything that happened behind the camera. The fact that Harry Styles didn't grin shows that the movie is a beautiful and collaborative product.

What a terrible movie, poor ripped off plot, convoluted story, childish scriptwriting and the worst ending in a movie I have seen in a long time. WASTE OF TIME.

DWD's beautiful cinematography and score can't save a stale premise and moronic script that features one of the most monumentally stupid twists in the history of storytelling. Harry Styles is far from the only one getting f**ked.

The nuance that the film had throughout the build-up simply disappeared at the end. The entire story twist is explained by a supporting character, which feels like a cop out. The resolution isn't even much of a resolution, and the concluding action felt forced. There are many unanswered questions for the audience, but in all honesty, I don't think anyone is interested in trying to find the answers.

Concept, story, setup and twist are actually interesting and refreshing. And the direction is jumping between holywood period film and auter in a nice way. Why did I rate it so low? The answer is easy: the performance of Florence Pugh is absolutely dreadful. She reminded me of these super angsty teen disney movies, so fake and so full of pretentious passion I was constantly rolling my eyes. When every single supporting actress in your movie plays so much better than your main, maybe it is time to switch your main?

Rien d’alarmant. Mais quelle daube quand même, putain ! ça m’a énervé.

The movie never lives up to its potential, because Katie Silberman’s screenplay doesn’t allow that. It has, however, some fine performances (particularly Pugh’s) and top notch production design.

Stylishly shot and a wonderful Pugh were the only things to keep it barely afloat. Too many “borrowed” inspirations. Felt like Westworld meets Stepford Wives meets an old Twilight Zone episode. But never reaching close to those in story, or originality. Wilde has a long way to go and a lot to learn. For now her short “home movie” is more satisfying than this.

Wow. This is the first time that the drama behind the making of the movie is more exciting than the movie itself. Without the cast- director in- fighting, this movie would have flopped big time. It should have been called 'Don't Bore me Darling'. The problem is that it's literally a half an hour of ideas stretched literally into 2 hours. It's a pastiche of concepts from better movies. Too bad that Florence Pugh as usual gave her all; production values are actually also quite good. Probably one of the biggest disappointment of the year for me.

One of the best art directed films of 2022. Cast is spectacular. Olivia Wilde's direction is great. Florence Pugh is amazing. Demented story and the twist at the end is great. Don't understand all the fans with 0, 1, 2, 3 ratings.

Well, I’ll say this much for this one – I’m glad I didn’t pay theater ticket prices for it. Director Olivia Wilde, who made such an impressive feature debut with the high school buddy comedy “Booksmart” (2019), has definitely stumbled with her sophomore (or is it sophomoric?) outing. This mishmash of science fiction, social commentary and mystery/fantasy is too long, too unfocused, and, at times, more than a little too obvious in its message and metaphors. In this heavy-handed portrayal of 1950s idealized American life, it quickly becomes apparent that many aspects of it are a little too on the nose while simultaneously incorporating obvious anachronisms, immediately tipping off viewers to the fact that this is not a real place nor an authentic historical re-creation. That back-handed revelation seems to be somewhat casually glossed over, however, as the picture continues to try convincing the audience otherwise with only occasional references to the contrary, a practice that needlessly stretches out the story and becomes rather repetitive in the process. A number of elements seem to be included for sheer cinematic indulgence, too, such as an inordinate number of inexplicable sequences that look like an homage to the June Taylor Dancers. To its credit, this offering does have its share of strengths, such as its superb art direction and production design, gorgeous cinematography, terrific soundtrack, and capable performances by Florence Pugh and by the director in a supporting role. Nevertheless, there’s too much redundancy and extraneous material left in here, something that I sense is more attributable to the screenplay than to the director’s efforts. Wilde is a more adept filmmaker than what is apparent here, and that would seem to be more the fault of the script than the person behind the camera. Also, there are ample aspects that appear to be “derived” from other films, including “The Stepford Wives” (1975), “Ex Machina” (2014), “Minority Report” (2002) and “The Matrix” franchise. I’m not sure who’s responsible for so much egregious “borrowing,” but it, too, becomes obvious and annoying after a while, prompting one to ask, “What movie am I actually watching here anyway?” Unfortunately, there’s truly enough wrong with this release to recommend it, so I’d heartily suggest taking a look at “Booksmart” instead to see what this director is genuinely capable of.

Order in chaos? This can be terrifying I went to watch it with a focus on concept. On the recommendation of a Youtube channel, about the criticism about "order in chaos". And... I'll tell you, it's pretty disturbing! Not frighteningly, more intriguingly. First Olivia Wilde movie I watched. In addition to being an actress, she does very well working behind the camera. Pleasant direction for a second film. Florence Pugh is amazing, especially in dramatic scenes. Anyone who watched Midsommar would say the same. Harry was equally phenomenal. The art direction and photography simply did their homework, but that didn't surprise. But in combination with the soundtrack, they did a great job of holding your attention and gaining your tension. The entire movie felt like a Black Mirror feature film, so much so that the desert setting is identical to "Smithereens", the second episode of season five. Not to mention the coincidence with "Upload" and "Matrix", which certainly had its influence. The story will bring you a heavy reflection on order in chaos, enough to make your day a little uncomfortable, especially if you're one of those who ask questions about luck, bad luck, chaos and randomness. The ending is one that leaves something to be desired. They could easily have lengthened the ending a little to give the plot a deserved conclusion. But still many of the reviews here do not reflect the quality of the film. It's a great thriller. I really recommend you to watch it.

some ideas thrown there like plastic bags afloat on the sea but everything is missing: from the script to the direction. Pugh alone, however good she may be, cannot bear the brunt of a badly written and directed film. A completely messed up film.

Though it has a lot of clichés, it makes up for it with tons of atmosphere and great acting. I wasn’t entirely sure where it was going, but I had a few guesses early on what the main twist was going to be. That said it was still very entertaining and worth watching. They could have shaved a some of the scenes down as it did start to over stay it’s welcome a bit. There were several character choices that didn’t make a lot of sense near the end that made this thriller not as thrilling as well. I’d recommend it if your in the mood for something more psychological, but don’t bring the kids. There are several sex acts the play out on screen that would leave an impression. Update - After giving it a day to think of this I've lowered my score from a 5 to a 3. It ****. It's derivative to a fault. I don't hate it and I think it's still worth watching, but more to understand what not to do with your reveals and character development.

It just turned into one of my favorite movies! Olivia Wilde proved that she’s absolutely talented and is more than ready for directing… btw, her character Bunny is my favorite! Chris Pine is just the perfect villain! The energy changes every time he is on the screen! Harry Styles also proved he IS an actor… and a wonderful one, I’m sure he’s going to be giant as much he is singing. Florence and Gemma Chain are also two amazing gems! The plot was a surprise for me and the photography and music are insane!

I'm really not sure what this movie is going for. I understand the setting and the idea of these women being stuck in this cult like dystopian suburban nightmare but the direction is just so bungled that it does the film in before it has a chance to get going.

It starts off promising with all the 50s music, set design, costume, and model, but as early as i know where the story is gonna go, moving forward the movie just getting worse and worse, Don't Worry Darling is a movie with these big actor and actresses name that fills with the most stupidest, silliest, and dumbest story possible and it's not in a good way, Don't Worry Darling is basically an awful B-movie that fills with A-list actor that somehow someway give a horrible performance too, the story doesn't make any sense, it's stupid and my god is it exhausting to watch, it's 2 hours of hell, 2 hours of stupidity, i cannot stand Don't Worry Darling, i mean how can a movie starring the talented Florence Pugh, the supposedly a breakthrough performance by Harry Styles, Chris Pine, Gemma Chan, and also starring and directing the film Olivia Wilde can be this disastrously bad, if you never watch the trailer or even the plot, just based on the poster it looks like a family drama movie which i think if that's the case this movie will be great, no, Don't Worry Darling is a horror movie, yes, a fail horror thriller that wasted my 2 hours, a stupid and non-sense film that became second worst movie of the year so far just a little bit behind Halloween Ends, it's the most surprisingly bad movie of the year, what a disappointment, and just like Halloween Ends the only good thing about it is that i don't have to pay anything to watch the film and i don't have to waste my energy to watch it in the theaters.

(Mauro Lanari) Someone should explain to "Thirteen" the difference between alternative society ("Westworld" [Crichton 1973], "Logan's Run" [Anderson 1976], "The Village" [Shyamalan 2004], "The Circle" [Ponsoldt 2017], "Midsommar" [Aster 2019], "Vivarium" [Finnegan 2019], etc.) and virtual reality (the Putman of "Brains in a vat" [1981]) and therefore "The red or the blue pill?" from "The Truman Show" to "Pleasantville" and "The Matrix"), as well as that between feminism and misandrist "woke" propaganda. Carving out the only role of executioner in her opinion that can be saved ("It was my decision as a mother, to relive with my children"), together with the faithful screenwriter Katie Silberman she signs an ignoble 3rd act.

So trippy. In a good way. The plot twist was actually something I didn’t expect, not in a way that it was particularly original, but in a way where I didn’t expect the way it was delivered. It was enjoyable

I can't believe it, but Olivia Wilde has really outdone herself this time, in **** big-time, that is. I thought Booksmart was a wannabe deep and at the same time cool piece of overrated garbage, however, I was dead wrong, it seems. Don't Worry Darling is so flawed and decadent a movie?!?! that even Florence Pugh and Chris Pine could not salvage its wreck. The storyline owns no notes of creativity and repeats the same cliche of toxic dynamics in relationships; moreover, the in-your-face lack of chemistry between the so-called leads made me wince at times. Also, the overuse of jazzy tunes to reflect the era in question kinda threw me off the whole scent. Plot holes, awful casting, self-aggrandizing, and promo dramas set aside, the costume design was pretty neat.

Yes, mainstream media. We get it by now, you've been doing this for the last 3-4 years. White Men = Bad. Okay. Cool. In all honestly, despite how predictable the outcome of the movie was, it was still just about interesting enough to sit through. But honestly? Just watch The Truman Show instead.

Not sure if I'm going to watch this as it just looks like a sloppy remake of the Stepford Wives. What I will say though is that I think the drama around it was manufactured. I have no evidence, but there seems to be a trend that lackluster movies (probably determined by early screenings) tend to have pre-debut controversy surrounding them. I can't help but think this is a marketing strategy. Really, who **** cares if Florence Pugh voiced her concerns about working with Shia Le Beouff? Or how Olivia Wilde handled it (sounds like she tried to placate everyone to get her movie made; or as I call it "the director's **** job.") All designed to put an excuse in place for when the film bombs, which it appears this is doing.

This movie is about 50 years behind. It's a mish-mash of past satires, but those works were made in a different time and world. And that world is long gone, and so is the relevancy. Company town with gender-based division of labour. Come on, not fresh and not relevant. There's plenty ripe for satire in today's world. For example, where are all the undocumented Mexican helpers and gardeners ? Today's world has plenty of middle-class hypocrisy waiting for satire. This film lacks the imagination to see the present, aping past works and lacking cultural relevance

This Stepford Wives rip-off is about thirty years too late to the party. While I some marginal give credit to the cinematography and production design, that's really it. Olivia Wilde's boy toy can't act to save his life, and he's completely unbelievable with Florence Pugh, whose performance is halfway decent but repetitive. Her character is rather derivative of the arcs in both 'Midsommar' and even 'Black Widow' which delve into the increasingly overused genre of psychological thrillers. The writing and direction are the worst offenders. For the like of me, I can't imagine how Wilde interpreted Jordan Peterson in the mold of Chris Pine. She clearly doesn't have the acumen to handle any real deep philosophical themes. Her and the writers just rehashed a bitter unoriginal diatribe about misogynistic brainwashing perpetrated by the "patriarchy" that comes off as petty, deluded, and self-serving, with a plot full of more holes than a kitchen sieve. I would have found it funny, but I have more self-respect than that.

Olivia Wilde brings us a unique film in light of off the field drama, with a solid drama packed film. Don’t Worry Darling combines elements of the Truman Show and Westworld into an environment that is both tense and exerting. Florence Pugh carries the movie and has been awesome ever since her breakthrough role in Midsommer. Pugh has to carry Harry Styles’ weight since his character is more of a painting on the wall, rather then a actor in this film. Styles looks good, but do not expect him to do much more than that. The film carries itself well and doesn’t feel boring, but also not super exciting at the same time. The ending is what really ties the movie all together and saves the film from being an average film, to a good picture.Olivia Wilde brings us a unique film in light of off the field drama, with a solid drama packed film.
