Call of Duty: Black Ops II

The singleplayer portion of this game was absolutely amazing, the story moreso than the gameplay. While Black Ops 1 was an amazing singleplayer experience, Black Ops 2's campaign was mind blowing. The fact that the player's decisions actually had an impact on the story was a first for the series, and actually made for a compelling story. The multiplayer was one of the best experiences since MW2, but no dedicated servers made for a subpar experience. The zombie mode was kinda fun at first what with the new quirks, but got stale really quickly.

The controls handle well, the graphics are good and Dante's Inferno is actually quite an enjoyable experience. It's bloody, gruesome and crazy, so I'm glad there's an age rating of 18 slapped on there.

I enjoyed the game to a degree. The Duke's funny lines and the story, while predictable, was pretty entertaining. Though to be fair, the majority of the enjoyment was just through comedy. Some of the levels were quite ridiculous and took really long to complete/figure out what to do, it didn't feel like a 2011 game at all, it was great only as a self-parody.

The PC port doesn't work very well and you have to assign PC controls yourself, which is annoying. The time attack mode just crashes the game, too. Otherwise, it's a decent enough Sonic game that'll touch on your nostalgia.

The multiplayer brings nothing new to Call of Duty apart from quicker movement and slightly more verticality. Every other mechanic is the same and there STILL aren't any dedicated servers, so your connection will never be optimal. The game is basically what Titanfall would have been if it was an unfinished release where you can't run on walls, and titans didn't exist. All of that being said... its call of duty. Its still fun every now and then.

This game is a lot of fun, but it's pretty much an expansion pack to Far Cry 3 in terms of capturing outposts, guns and collectables. The story builds up into something that could have potential but leaves you wanting at the end, no matter what 'story path' you take, if you can even call it that.

After playing the new Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare, I come back to write a review here. If this new call of duty's loot system was implemented into Titanfall, then Titanfall would have exploded and became the most popular shooter to date. As the new call of duty is, to put it simply, an unfinished version of this game. Though I'm a little bit biased in that I write this as a player who learnt the game very quickly and kept a stable 3.8-3.9 K/D ratio against players.

The controls are easy to get used to and the PC port is great, no performance issues whatsoever. However the game is a little predictable after a while and for the most part you will be trudging through the same thing over and over again only hoping that the next part of the story will unravel. Every time it does get to an important plot point however, it'll keep you on the edge of your seat and you'll be itching to find out what happens next.

All the reviews seem to say pretty much the same thing here. The game is incredibly mediocre, to the point where there's no way I could rate the game below or above a 5. The voice acting for most of the characters in the game is absolutely dreadful, so much so that I had to skip roughly 80% of the dialogue. Fetch quests probably take up 50% of the content in the game. The first act is a facade for progression and for the rest of the time it banks off of the interest of the completionist. The worst part is that all of these quests pretty much keep you stuck in the same city - FOR THE ENTIRE GAME. There are a few moments that make you chuckle and even fewer that invoke emotional responses from you. The combat system has so many flaws that I changed the difficulty to Casual so I would cut through all combat as fast as possible to progress through the somewhat bearable story. Overall, it just felt like a downgrade from DA: Origins.

It's not quite as deep as the main game, however the live-action scenes do give the game a little more depth. Overall it was a pretty mediocre addition to the series with one major flaw in that people do not like repetition, no matter what plot point it'll ultimately unravel.

World of Warcraft: Legion

User ScoreGarian
Jun 26, 2020
The PvE elements of this expansion were actually quite interesting to start off with, but the PvP experience is absolutely atrocious. After blizzard claim they want PvP to be balanced in every possible way, they actually managed to do the complete opposite. Some classes are 10x better in terms of mobility, damage and survival than others are. For example a demon hunter or a rogue can survive for literally 10x longer with their cooldowns than a warrior can. Warriors will just flop to the ground and die immediately in a 1v1 situation with almost any other dps class. Not to mention how bad the PvP gearing system is, you have to do PvE in order to increase your damage and viability for PvP. The new artifact system also makes it a very rigorous grind when wanting to make a new max level character and have that character actually become useful in a PvP scenario. Overall, the game got everyone's hopes up, then just crashed and burned.

This was an absolutely amazing DLC. While many fans are probably pissed that it didn't change the ending and that this DLC doesn't quite fit the theme of the game, it was an enjoyable breath of fresh air in comparison to the terrible ending. Its a Yu-gi-oh game, you get cards, you duel, there isn't much to it, but it is still great fun, especially to do so with your friends, my only complaint would be the multiplayer system and how people can leave a duel with the click of a button, they tend to do this when you're about to beat them.

Battlefield 3 is an amazing game, I never played any previous battlefield games aside from BFBC2, but I only played that for an hour or two, the multiplayer brought a huge change to the familiarity I had with Call of Duty, I very much prefer the customization, the maps, and the graphics are immense. Great job DICE. The singleplayer portion wasn't too great however, its unfortunate. It is definitely more **** to play with friends, if you're playing solo you won't enjoy it as much as you could. I still play this game today and will continue to do so.

GTA IV was good, I enjoyed playing and spent a good couple of days on it, however it wasn't enough of an improvment to GTA: San Andreas, they even removed the things that made that game great, you run slower and with seemingly less control, a car tapping your leg deals you damage, which is really annoying, they removed the availability to use planes, and the world was smaller. The two DLC stories weren't that good either, mediocre stories that cleared up only one or two scenarios in the main game, overall, they removed more than they added.
