Magpie

User Scorevaleriiege
Mar 12, 2025
Magpie is a brilliant film that tells the story of a man trying to turn his wife’s confinement into motherhood to his advantage, only to reveal, through a stunning twist, that the opportunity he thought he had was all a lie. The film’s focus on the imbalance of responsibility in parenting was, for me, more than enough reason to watch. But the twist at the end of the film completely changes everything, leaving not only Ben but also the audience in shock. And, of course, the truth revealed at the end shifts the meaning of everything we’ve watched throughout the film.

In 2005, the Korean owner of the internet café we frequented, called Webs, told us he had brought a new game: World of Warcraft. We were already spending our days playing Warcraft's custom maps such as Footman Frenzy, Xtreme, Enfo, and X Hero Siege. Wow, at that time, wasn't even online. We started playing it together with friends over LAN. It was one of the most amazing experiences of my childhood. I cannot even describe it. Later, the game went online and started charging. Unfortunately, my family didn’t allow me to get involved in such a game. Like the families in that documentary, they didn’t understand and pushed me away. However, my friends' families allowed them. Over time, I lost many. They dedicated their days, their hours to the game. Ironically, I was the one who introduced them to the game. Of course, while I managed to sneak in occasionally, I could never experience this legend from the beginning like they did. One of my biggest regrets in life is not being able to join them in that adventure.World of Warcraft was exactly that kind of game. For this reason, I’m so happy for Mats. He managed to find himself in the greatest game in history, and despite all its challenges, he succeeded in staying a good person and made a name for himself. May whoever Mats' god is, grant him one of the best layers of **** world has changed so much, Mats. We’ve gone from families saying there are no real friends online to a place where even they play games now. I wish you could see it. WoW isn’t as cool as it used to be, but the old timers like me are still hanging around inside. Right now, I’m playing Vanilla again. If they bring your grave in the next expansion, my first job will be to visit it.“You cannot kill hope.”
