Tar is a fantastic character development film that focuses on Lydia Tar who is widely considered the "G.O.A.T" of female orchestra conductors in this film. The movie is deep, nearly three hours long, but it did go by fast and kept me interested in Tar's life. The beginning was slow (especially with the opening credits in reverse) at first, then heats up and shows the highs and eventually the lows of the world-renowned composer. Cate Blanchett melts into this character and carries the move into one of the best films of the year. A lot of the supporting characters were critical early on and later became the premise of Tar's downfall. Rather you like classical music or not, see this movie for Blanchett's oscar worthy performance.

Pearl is a great setup origin story to the “X” film that was perfectly orchestrated by director Ti West. Mia Goth delivers another fantastic performance as the main Protagonist/Antagonist for this movie and guides the film with pure excellence. We take for granite what a true origin story is, and this film should be the gold standard when it comes to character development and retaining the beauty of this film throughout. For horror fans and gore hounds, it delivers some impactful kills on the way to the final scene, that will leave you both satisfied and uncomfortable. I cannot wait to see what Ti West and Mia Goth have in store for the future and hope more horror films live up to the standard they set.

Black Adam is an enjoyable superhero film that seemed to be doubted by critics, but enjoyed by fans. Very entertaining superhero film that imposes a superman like protagonist and dominating everybody who stands in their way. Dwayne Johnson does a very good job portraying an emotionless superhero, but the real star of the movie is Pierce Brosnan’s character that acts like a father figure that should’ve been more involved in the file. Most of the characters are dragged down by nonsense writing and is more filler than flavor. Overall, Black Adam provides a entertaining flick with some useless characters and carries across the finish line with excitement.

Olivia Wilde brings us a unique film in light of off the field drama, with a solid drama packed film. Don’t Worry Darling combines elements of the Truman Show and Westworld into an environment that is both tense and exerting. Florence Pugh carries the movie and has been awesome ever since her breakthrough role in Midsommer. Pugh has to carry Harry Styles’ weight since his character is more of a painting on the wall, rather then a actor in this film. Styles looks good, but do not expect him to do much more than that. The film carries itself well and doesn’t feel boring, but also not super exciting at the same time. Suspenseful, Like John Carpenters The Thing, Doesn’t know what real is actaully. Can be preodictable, Smile is a solid horror flick that focuses on a person’s internal struggle and pasts the nightmare like a disease. It’s a manipulating film that tricks the audience into seeing stuff that could be real or not. The enemy is the mental version of John Carpenter’s The Thing, in which it causes torment from within. Director Parker Finn and actress Sosie Bacon execute the movie with precision and suspense that guides the audience into a direction, then jerks them in the opposite direction. The Movie does have predictable horror themes, but at the end, (a lot like The Thing) the nightmare is never fully extinct.

It is a film to be watched for cinematic appeal. Amsterdam can be dry and drawn out at times in the beginning, then gets better towards the end with the climax being reached. Christian Bale always gives an outstanding performance in any of his David O’Russell films. John David Washington and Margot Robbie compliment Bale’s performance, with Mike Myers and Michael Shannon providing some comic relief. Robert De Niro making his typical appearance in a O’Russell film that provides a critical impact to the conclusion of the film. The film is a lot of character development but the story and script feels very robotic. At times, the dialogue is too much filling with not enough flavor. I get why some audiences might lose interest around the 1st/2nd act, but at the end, it was very engaging and you wonder how much of this dramatization of this true event is accurate.

The "finale" to the Halloween series is lukewarm to slasher fans, at best. Halloween Ends introduces a main character to be Michael Myers’ apprentice, but becomes an origin character story to be the premise for most of the film. Bold move, but it’s a finale film for a reason. The fans want proper closure to Laurie Strode and her tormenter, Michael Myers. This idea could of been attempted in the many Halloween sequels leading up this, but the Director and the writers (four in total) chose the wrong time to attempt this strategy. We do not see the Boogeyman (Myers) until like halfway through the movie and barely see him for more than 20 minutes. Laurie Strode is involved a little more often but is more of the secondary cast for this movie. The movie introduces 2 new and uncompelling characters and feels like a set up for a sequel. Too bad (and thankfully) there will not be one.
