In the superhero genre, this is one of those cases where the sequel could have doubled what the previous film achieved, but it allowed the special effects to do almost all the work. That's why it feels a bit wasted, although not entirely. It can be watched with minimal expectations.

Greetings from Lithuania.
It's clear that creators of "Aquaman" really had ideas only for a one movie. I really enjoyed the first one and like to rewatch it from time to time, this one on the other hand isn't as good by far. It is a very generic and mediocre superhero flick. Like highly forgettable one. While it is on, it is not the worst one by far either - it is colorful, loud with tons and tons of CGI. But the story is very generic. Dialogs are very mediocre. Like you have seen all this many times. Overall, knowing now that this was the final film in this franchise and DC universe itself, one can't stop thinking that it was unavoidable for WB to restart this universe. "Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" is a proof that when ideas runs out, all that is left is very generic.

Generally Good movie. Actions were cool. Most of the CGI has to be improved. Solid 7/10.

Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom returns Jason Momoa as the iconic superhero, and while the film has its flaws, it proves to be an engaging follow-up. Initially, I had concerns about the humor in the film, fearing that the character would be reduced to a joke, much like the direction taken with Thor in recent MCU films. However, Aquaman’s character is grounded with moments of seriousness, especially when he proposes the idea of revealing Atlantis to the world—a notion that the other kingdoms vehemently oppose. This sequence, though simple, reassured me that the movie would avoid turning Aquaman into a complete caricature. The chemistry between Arthur Curry and his brother Orm was a pleasant surprise, adding depth to the film’s dynamic.James Wan’s direction shines with dynamic camera work and subtle references to classic films like Planet of the Vampires, which enrich the visual experience. The villain’s stop-motion design was a standout, though the character’s development felt secondary to the larger story. Mera also has a more substantial role than expected, giving a strong performance despite the ongoing controversy surrounding Amber Heard. However, the movie struggles with humor, particularly in the early scenes, where juvenile jokes (like a baby urinating on Aquaman) hurt the pacing. The film also leans heavily on MCU-style humor, which might not sit well with all audiences. The plot is fairly predictable, and the off-screen death of Willem Dafoe’s character was a major disappointment. Another jarring moment occurred when Mera suddenly kisses a character, which felt forced and out of place. The music, while fitting, relied too much on cliched **** the end, Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is an entertaining sequel with solid performances, impressive visuals, and some missed opportunities. While it may not break new ground, it’s a fun ride that leaves you eager to revisit the first film and look forward to future adventures with Aquaman.

i like all the actors in this movie; they have all done lots of good stuff in the past - some have done excellent stuff. But this movie is still dreadful.
the plot is generic; CGI big baddie has been awakened by other baddie, Aquaman has to team up with his brother to stop him.
The movie looks like a cartoon and the people are so obviously acting in front of green screens that it just looks absurd. in fact it looks like they used AI to create the actors' images and voices, because they all look like robots. Jason Momoa really does his best and so does Patrick Wilson - no one else gets to attempt to act - but it's just not enough.

I ordered the Blu-ray disc a couple of weeks ago. I watched it last night. The first half was a little slow and plodding, but the second have picked up as one would expect. However, I think the filmmakers missed a chance at telling a really good story. All in all it was entertaining, but not as good as the first movie. Cheers.

"Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom" (Cmas 2023, 2hr, D/James Wan) This should've been an outstanding sequel to 2018's Aquaman but instead you get something akin to a video game adaptation. This director has so much more potential but the gazillions in budget were just squandered on VFX as if this was a half-hearted Netflix production. But worse is that the writing is just horrid, and to find that Wan and Momoa both have writing credits for this! I mean baby peeing in daddy's face is an ancient romcom trope, who the @$#% permitted this into the screenplay of a big budget action movie?! And there are too many other such travesties to bother with here, very very disappointing.

This film is so bad it's difficult to understand why they even released it. Aquaman is depicted as a smack-talking buffoon. None of the other characters have more depth than a kiddie pool. The plot seems to have been written by a 10-year old boy who played too much World of Warcraft: Wrath of the Lich King. It's as if some executive studied every misstep that Disney made ruining the Marvel franchise and then tried to out-fail them.

Went in with little expectations, came out disappointed. Acting wise, most of the cast did a decent job, even though I found the acting of the character Mera to be lacking.

I had low expectations since I heard some bad reviews, but I really think it was ok. Of course not much new in it and quite predictable plot mostly, but still an ok watch as a popcorn movie.

Aquaman and The Lost Kingdom
This superhero flick is the sequel to 2018's Aquaman. In this, Aquaman has to partner with his estranged half-brother, Orm, to take down Black Manta who's seeking revenge against Aquaman and his family. Plot-wise, Aquaman 2 boasts of rehashed tropes and delves into this with so much predictability. This movie tries to convince us that the stakes for the heroes are dire but ultimately fails at the journey. We're taken from one contrived subplot to another with a bad case of exposition. The use of comedy here is distasteful, there are barely laugh-out-loud funny moments as hard as the movie tries. The set pieces and overall feel of the effects are vapid, there's no form of excitement as CGI meets more CGI. The best part of this movie is the dynamic between Aquaman and Orm, which adopts a buddy comedy style perfectly suited to their characters. Jason Momoa is Aquaman through and through, and his performance is spot-on, breathing with the eccentricities he's previously brought to this character. Patrick Wilson is the principal highlight of this movie, his portrayal of Orm is delightful. As a villain Yahya Abdul-Mateen II is inadequate, his character isn't interesting enough and isn't given a good approach seeing how his role is reminiscent of Killmonger in Black Panther, but lacking the brilliance Michael B Jordan was able to channel. Following the Heard vs Depp case of 2022, it's obvious that the movie struggles with placing importance on her character, ultimately being indecisive on how much screen time to give her. Aquaman 2 heavily lacks identity as it borrows numerous styles from various movies without any thought as to how to tie them seamlessly. It ultimately is a movie that can still be enjoyed if you put your expectations very low and just bank on the chemistry between Aquaman and Orm. 4.5/10

Didn't hate it. Environmentalist box-checking and superhero fatigue aside, there was enough action, special effects, and Momoa swagger to keep us entertained until the end. It's true, it seems as though even the actors are tired of this genre of movie. Movie seemed to abruptly end, which honestly we were OK with, strangely enough - we were simply done.

What a mess of a movie. The visual effects are atrociously bad, the writing and dialogue are terrible a lot of the time, the comedy feels like the force humour you saw in a lot of Marvel movies, the pacing is slow, plot is disjointed and messy with weak character development from Aquaman himself. The biggest disappointment is the villain, Black Manta. He is Aquaman's most iconic villain but he is so underwhelming in this movie because the plot has some ancient evil king poisoning his mind throughout. He ended up still feeling like a side villain. There are some cool action set pieces, especially the trident fight at the end which had great choreography. Aquaman and Orm having this buddy copy dynamic was fun to watch. It is a shame that this is how the DCEU ended.

Aquaman 2 was lost from the start. The story is kind of generic but at least follows the first one. The acting is bland and robotic. Orm is the best of them. One fun part was all the dialogues and interactions of the two brothers. The CGI is actually quite good, but from the middle to the ending, the composition falls apart. It's atrocious at the end. The action is decent. I give it 52%. Overall it does show that this was doomed from the start. Average at best

It's bad because Amber Heard is in it but it's still a good movie because it had everything you wanted like it's a good movie it's just that we're all just upset over Amber Heard we didn't want her in the movie but she was in the movie but we focus on more on Aquaman and his lifeBeing a dad and being a king and dealing with a lot of strugglesLike this movie is really good

Its really tough to surprise an audience with a super hero movie these days. There's not really much innovation here outside of the unique visual style and character designs. Soundtrack and cast are great with superb OTT vfx and action sequences. Its fun. Like a live action Saturday morning cartoon. I enjoyed it!

The script is literally a watered out generic superhero movie, and it lacks the pedigree like Superman to be carried by the hero on it's own.
Who knows, maybe the writers dog stepped on a bee?

This movie made me feel nothing. I didn’t laugh at how bad it was. I didn’t enjoy for itself. I don’t recommend this movie to anyone unless they’re considering a lobotomy because this movie would really work as a wake-up call, because it simulates such. There was no ending moral message, there were many opportunities to develop an ending that made me feel anything, but no, no such luck in this cruel world.

Better than you think it is 'final' DCEU flick is clearly not designed as such. It is a stand alone film and a direct sequel of the blockbusting original. It is not as good, but in parts on par with the original. The production is still top notch, combining a strange 'old school Tsui Hark fantasy' with modern Hollywood sensibilities. As it is, this is actually one of the better superhero film and in term of quality at least, left the DCEU on a less bittersweet note.

They should have recast Mera with Frank Reynolds. We get it, there's a reset on the horizon (if we even want one...) Better to recoup some costs by releasing this triceratop-sized pile of **** that was ****** since Jump Street. But, they could have at least garnered some goodwill for future projects by recasting Mera. I honestly hope WB gets bought by Universal, so people with some sense can decide how the money should be spent and not throw it at all the wrong things.

IN A NUTSHELL:
Aquaman balances his duties as king and as a member of the Justice League, all while planning a wedding. Black Manta is on the hunt for Atlantean tech to help rebuild his armor. Orm plots to escape his Atlantean prison.
James Wan directed the movie, as well as helped write the script with Jason Momoa and David Leslie Johnson-McGoldrick. THINGS I LIKED:
Jason Momoa is so much fun in this role. He has the wild-child look and comedic chops to hold your attention every time he’s on screen, and he looks like he’s having a blast. He’s given story credit because he was the first one to pitch a story for this sequel. I love that we get to see Aquaman’s seahorse named Storm.
Other noteworthy cast members include Patrick Wilson, Amber Heard, Yahya Abdul-Mateen II, Nicole Kidman, Dolph Lundgren, Randall Park, Tom Curry, and even Ben Affleck! Vincent Regan plays the role of King Atlan instead of Graham McTavish who had that role in the 2018 Aquaman movie.
Can you believe that with all of the movies Nicole Kidman has been in, this is her very first sequel where she performed in two movies of the same story?
The immediately starts out with action and a summary of what Aquaman has been up to since the last movie, including diaper changes for his new baby, all to the tune of “Born To Be Wild.”
The special effects are pretty cool.
Beautiful underwater, as well as landscape scenery
There is plenty of humor, both visual and spoken. Love it.
I love that Aquaman gave a shoutout to single parents as true superheroes.
We get to meet all kinds of new underwater creatures in the film.
Fun soundtrack
There are several movie-poster moments that are perfectly designed to make audiences cheer. THINGS I DIDN’T LIKE:
A lot of the action sequences look like video game footage rather than live action. SO much CGI.
There’s an attempt to recreate the fun Star Wars cantina scene underwater, complete with odd creatures, entertainers, and a Jabba the Hut evil, fat boss. Come on, DC Comics…think of something new. Many other moments are “borrowed” from better films too. Are those a respectful nod of other films or just lazy writing?
There is SO much going on here when it comes to plot, characters, and even knowing where to look during action sequences. In fact, just for any of it to make sense, there are several long exposition scenes to explain what’s going on and how it connects to the past.
It has been announced that this is the 15th and last addition to the DC Extended Universe. If that’s really true, then it’s a disappointing letdown rather than an exciting finale. This is also the last movie to involve Water Hamada since his resignation in 2022.
The world-building is great; however, the cuts are way too fast so we barely have time to really look at and admire what’s in each scene.
The villains are forgettable.
I don’t read comic books, so I’d love to hear the perspective from someone who does! TIPS FOR PARENTS: LOTS of violence with various weapons
High dead-body count (bloodless)Talk of buttholes
TONS of explosions and destruction

I walked out of the theatre 2/3 into it. The plot is utter nonsense, the dialogue is cringeworthy, and the acting leaves so much more to be desired. TBH, what we have is a guttered, quickly-written script for a dying extended universe that perfectly captures everything that went wrong in the DCEU.

Really sad to see Jason Momoa hurt his career by choosing to act along side the atrocious acting of AH as Mera. Despite her being guilty in court, the greedy film producers at DC decided to hire her. The movie was bland, boring, and made little sense. I would watch Captain Marvel 3 times over this movie. Let Aquaman and Mera sink to the bottom of the ocean. It's time to move on.

In essence, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom” is a poorly crafted film that unsuccessfully concludes the already unsuccessful DC universe. Even a camera maestro like James Wan delivers a weak performance, resulting in a movie devoid of seriousness and failing to deliver the anticipated action, making it an unpleasant watch. I didn’t have high expectations. Thinking I would derive enjoyment from the second film as I did from the first, given that James Wan was directing. I thought I would grab my popcorn, have fun, and leave. However, the film didn’t even allow me to savor my popcorn with its cringe-worthy jokes.

Got a few hours to waste. Nothing really interesting happens bunch of creatures introduced. It Didn't have time to do a full skull island evil bad guy base. They spent 5 mins with some "monster" running through a jungle. They Didn't need 30mins resetting the family up. Alot of money on wasted potential.

"Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom" disappoints as a sequel in the DC Universe. Its basic storyline lacks the depth and innovation expected from a modern superhero film. The narrative is predictable, missing opportunities to explore more complex themes or deliver unexpected **** acting overall feels wooden, lacking the emotional resonance needed to connect with the characters deeply. This detachment is further exacerbated by subpar CGI, which fails to bring the fantastical underwater world of Aquaman to life. Instead of immersing the audience in a visually stunning experience, the CGI often feels awkward and unconvincing. Moreover, the movie struggles with its identity, unable to decide whether it wants to be a lighthearted adventure or a more serious epic. It attempts to juggle humor, action, and drama but fails to balance these elements effectively, leading to a disjointed viewing **** summary, "Aquaman: The Lost Kingdom" falls short of its potential. It's a film that might entertain die-hard fans of the franchise but is unlikely to impress a broader audience or leave a lasting mark in the realm of superhero cinema. The film, regrettably, is a missed opportunity to build upon the unique aspects of its aquatic hero and his world

Generic, but very watchable, optimistic and quite fun! I like family theme and interactions Arthur - Orm... I like scale of world - without this "time space multiverse" bulls...! To much CGI - result: lots of mediocre CGI. Some jokes landed, rest not so much. But still fun to watch! PS And way better than "The Marvels"!!!

I did not like this movie at all. It was incredibly boring. It has the same viilian as the first movie.
The storyline is complete grbage, it feels like the movie was written either by AI or a 10 year old. I will never watch this movie again. If anyine sees this review, DO NOT watch this at the cinema. Wait a few weeks for it to come to streaming. Save your money and go see something else.
