A sweet little game. It’s somewhat reminiscent of the old Telltale games. The story guides you along, and while it’s relatively short, the length perfectly suits the narrative. It falls into the same category as What Remains of Edith Finch. If you enjoy games like that, you’ll feel right at home here.

My goodness, what a journey. The important thing that everyone should remember when rating: this game costs just under €50. Now to the experience: The story is fantastically set up and accompanied by a constant melancholy. The atmosphere is practically always right. The characters act like people. Even the facial expressions. Sooner or later, you develop a heart for every single character.Gameplay - the combat system is fun. You can build your team individually and nobody has a fixed role. You can let off steam when building characters. No character is **** dodge system practically gives you a Souls experience with a fighting style a la FFX. This makes the battles fluid despite the turn-based approach. The world is also otherwise colorful and there is a lot to discover. And the music. My God, it's good. Finally, perhaps I would list the things I would consider negative, but only because I was specifically looking for them:
- Some frustrating minigames (albeit few)
- You can quickly become too strong for the story. But you have to aim for it, it doesn't happen automatically.
- I would have liked more options for fast travel. It's taken years, but finally a modern RPG has made it into my personal top 3. It shares a place with Lost Odyssey and Persona 5. Worth every minute spent.

Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine II6

First of all: I'm a huge Warhammer fan. The fan googles aside, SM2 is a pretty good game for the campaign. Sadly the multiplayer is more annoying than enjoyable. It takes 10-15 minutes between mission, because you a) have to find a party without class overlapping (can only pick one class per party) and b) it takes ages of loading between interactions like start a mission, change a party or end a mission. Also you share the loot in missions. If you are unlucky, your team mates just grab everything they can find and you can try to survive on yourself.
So... a lot of stuff to change here. Can not say anything about PvP, though. All in all I don't think I will revisit the game after the platinum trophy. If I want to fight against hordes of aliens in some multiplayer fun, I just play Helldivers 2.

That was one hot journey and I enjoyed it. About this whole difficulty stuff... maybe use the new level mechanic to deal more damage and receive less damage. Use summons, these are a part of the game design not without reason. Use items.
If you slip any of these mechanics, you don't play the game normally, you play a challenge run.

In short: a nice RPG, varied and short battles, a rather pleasant story. A great game for what it is. Perhaps a little slow at times, but that's not too bad. A clear recommendation.

First of all: don't play alone. This makes the game boring. And of course it's not designed for solo play. The game is incredibly fun in a cosy group. Looks pretty good, sometimes a bit buggy. But a recommendation for entertaining evenings in a cosy group.

It's a remaster, so not much to say. It's as good as the original game, only prettier. Technically a bit outdated these days, of course.

Octopath Traveler II9

A marvellous adventure. Plus:
- Fantastic music- Loving characters
- Fantastic battles
- A beautiful art style Minuses:
- Rather simple storylines (but that's because there are eight characters, each working through their own story)
- The character-specific gimmicks are a bit tiresome (one only talks about money, the other only about dancing... etc) Nevertheless: A clear recommendation!

Like its predecessor, the realisation of the main character is fantastic. I like everything about it. However, the game gets a small deduction due to the rather boring antagonist. Otherwise, a great game in the Spider-Man series.

It just works. Smooth fights, great story, great voice actors. Fantastic music. New York feels alive.
Relatively much side content, but that's normal for an open world. An absolute recommendation for all Spidey fans. And even those who aren't fans should have fun with this game.

Stellar Blade7
May 3, 2024
There was a huge amount of marketing hype surrounding Stellar Blade. The marketing material gave me the impression that we were getting a kind of Nier: Automata meets X-Blades. In reality, that's exactly what we got, only slower. At least it felt that way. Eve controls like a truck at times. The battles are pretty simple. The visuals are okay, the game suffers a little from the usual Asian RPG problems. The levels are not absolut straight, but they are clearly limited. Which is fine, not everything has to be open world. Important: the game may be more enjoyable, if you ignore all the collectible stuff. With collecting all the stuff the game offers you, its just annoying and makes you tired. I don't see the comparison to Souls games. The only thing they have in common is the backstap that Eve can perform. The game can score points for the (in my case German) dubbing. There is a lot to collect for those who like it. I like the background music, but it is certainly a matter of taste. I won't go into the controversy surrounding the character design, as there are better places to go in reality. All in all, I had my fun with the game, but it's probably not something I'll think about after I've finished it. It certainly doesn't live up to the hype in my opinion. It's too average for that - BUT its worth playing at least once. I guess.

Pokemon Violet4

A game at the level of ten years ago. And yet it has its moments. From a technical point of view, the game is an insult to the buyers. The world looks like a mobile game (which is certainly due to the hardware), there are heavy frame drops, the camera likes to fall through the floor. Small things are also unfortunately lazily implemented, such as status changes. Sleeping Pokemon no longer close their eyes like in Sword/Shield. On the world map, however, they do so when they are asleep. Sloppy. There is little customization for the player. The areas are quite dead. NPCs function like puppets without a soul. But that's always been the case with Pokemon, unfortunately. On the positive side - the Pokemon themselves are cool (except for some sloppy solutions like the status changes). Catching them is fun thanks to the new implementation, because it's faster. All in all, it's a game that excites me because of the technology. Still, I can't put it down. Is it worth the price? No. But for under $50, you can definitely pick it up.
