I’m not one to come out and say the developers are lazy or anything naïve as that, but it definitely reeks of a decision from high management to push out a pre-loved game from yesteryear with as little effort as possible. And to be brutally honest, that sucks. Battlefront 1 and 2 deserved a lot more than this.
Classic Collection is so bad that it is actively driving people back to the original game as it bleeds players, and given that the original is less than a third of the price, I can't blame anyone for that. This is an unfinished, shoddy product that doesn't feel good to play, and that's if you can play it at all.
At the end of the day that’s the chief purpose of these remasters: to offer fans a way to play these older Star Wars Battlefront titles on current consoles, with slightly spruced up visuals, and the option to play online. They’re still inherently rough around the edges and play a little clunky, but the Classics Collection does what it says on the tin, giving these beloved games a quick dip in the Bacta tank instead of attempting to forge them anew.

The release was buggy but they fixed most of the bugs in the following months. Now it´s a solid Re-release with a few graphics enhancements but sadly nobody plays the multiplayer anymore. (And i´ve heard many people say it´s a remaster or remake but it´s neither just for those who still don´t know)

I play this game is my brother gilani and I did like it it was a good reminding of my childhood so but there's some issues as well but overall I loved it and I hope PlayStation 5 will do same with another old games like call of duty middle of Honor something like this and my writing is 8.5 out of 10.

Normally I don't go so far as to completely deny reissues of beloved classics their right to exist. In the case of the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection, however, I have to make an exception, because what is offered here at almost twice the price of the originals, which are still fully functional and available almost everywhere, offers no noticeable added value with the exception of manageable and by no means essential improvements. Anyone who owns the original versions can save money completely, while curious latecomers will be served much better - and above all cheaper - elsewhere. If the creators don't quickly add more and, above all, more stable servers, this collection will likely disappear into nothingness faster than Alderaan.

After two decades of advancements and innovation, Battlefront I and II still offer some of the most enjoyable gameplay in the shooter genre. Rich in content, new and old, the Classic Collection successfully brings two fan-favourite Star Wars games onto today’s hardware. The absence of a few modern creature comforts is disappointing, but it does little to weigh down an otherwise brilliant bundle.

This game is so awesome and fun to play. I was left sitting in tears reliving my childhood memories fondly. Thank you for this great gift to gaming. The multiplayer mode potentially needs some work idk

To the contrary of most negative reviews, the Star Wars: Battlefront Classic Collection wasn't meant for only PC players. One of the common critiques of this release is that it was "needless" because the original games already existed on platforms like Steam and Microsoft Store (for PC and Xbox platforms respectively). And while, yes, that may be true, for PlayStation, there was no way to play either Battlefront 1 or 2 unless it was a genuine PlayStation 2 copy of the game. As for Nintendo, this Classic Collection is the debut of the series on ANY Nintendo platform. So while everyone complains that this release was a low-effort cash-grab, remember that this release was not meant for PC players that complain about everything. As for the actual review itself, the game is functional and promised what the trailer advertised: two of the best Star Wars games on modern platforms with upgraded visuals and multiplayer functionality. Battlefront 1 is the one game that is probably the most polished out of the two and has the most stable gameplay and server function (at least as of 3/18/24). Battlefront II has more bugs here and there, but otherwise does function well. The multiplayer functionality with servers, at launch, were not in the best state, but as of this review...they work. Not perfectly, but there is ample room for players to hop into a match. Granted, the connection may be lost, but I don't see why this cannot be addressed in upcoming updates. One of my main gripes is that the space-craft controls are awkward as there is currently no way to invert the vertical controls, but again, not something that can't be fixed. The post-battle cutscenes are also apparently absent from this release, but this should be reimplemented, yet again, with a future update. While yes, this collection should have been given more time and resources put into it, it is still functional and still a lot of fun to play. Everyone has to also keep in mind that when these games launched in their original forms, in 2004 and '05, 99% of players never got the chance to experience multiplayer with these games. These were mostly single-player and couch-splitscreen games, so those harsh reviews just bombing the game for the server issues with online multiplayer are not taking this all into consideration. Also, as a side note, those complaining about the lack of crossplay between consoles (and consoles to PC) are forgetting that up until the last 5 years or so, crossplay simply wasn't a very accepted thing. Usually companies just stuck to their own platform ecosystem. Until games like Fortnite and Call of Duty implemented crossplay, it wasn't really "a thing". This collection is crossgen, which is better than nothing. At least that way contemporary consoles (ie. PS5) and play with last generation consoles (PS4). So take this also into consideration. Give the game a chance and within a few months, it will probably be the best way to play these fantastic games both visually, accessibility wise, and as a multiplayer experience for years to come. Please don't just blindly review-bomb this game because you're upset that the game isn't up to insane standards. They're 20 year-old games that are a blessing to play on modern platforms with multiplayer functionality at only $35! Contemporary games are often $69.99, so for under $40, I was comfortable paying the price.

Don't buy this game – at least yet! Star Wars Battlefront – Classic Collection is a troubled remake of beloved shooter-games. Server-issues, bugs and other problems harm the overall experience and overshadow the otherwise solid retro-gameplay.

Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is a reminder of how great these games were at the time they released, but it ultimately fails to do anything better for the players than the original releases did. As much as it breaks my heart, I find it hard to recommend this game to anyone in its current state.

Despite a less-than-stellar online experience as of this writing, the Star Wars Battlefront Classic Collection is still a solid and affordable package of two of the saga's best games. Even with the state of multiplayer at launch, the vast range of content in these games is every bit as enjoyable now as they were on initial release.

Nett für zwischendurch also.

It’s not bad or good either. Why would you pay $35 for this? Maybe in 480i The game would look better, but we recommended you just play the original versions for a more reasonable price, did I mention it also takes almost 70 GB of your Storage which is literally a lot while the original PC CD rom took less and sure it’s 4 discs but that’s your average port for an console game on a computer, Avoid at all costs!
