good remake of the original but its too short and simple these days. would recommend playing but do not expect anything too special. atmosphere is by far the best part about the game. fighting the monsters and then getting tpd back to the start over and over again kinda gets repetitive.

There is nothing better than killing giants and a great variety of them, something worthy of respect, it has a simple problem: the camera, but you can get used to it... This is a game to say the least, a masterpiece worthy of positive evaluation.

I loved fighting with the colossus. The developers did a great job programming this battles. However the map is so empty that it feels it misses something

I love a game that lets you figure things out on your own and challenges you, but there is a limit. Some times I would figure what I was supposed to do and the game wouldn't work or it would be so convoluted it just took the fun out of it, making it more of an exercise in frustration. I love that the story pulls the rug out from under you and the game play can be really fun and satisfying, but it just wasn't a lot of the time. Also, I just ran everywhere cause the horse was so annoying to control.

I like it BUT I think the design of the collusi/levels is outdated. I also think the platforming ****. The story and music is great tho.

Holy ****, I've never played a game that is set up like this. A loved one dies now go and kill 16 ginormous beings to redeem and keep your legacy. I love that the game gets straight to the point with the added bonuses of not having to upgrade your gear and not having extra enemies, just pure unadulterated focus on the task at hand. I wish more games would do this, hell.... they should make a genre similar to this where it's just one focus, no extra enemies for play time's sake, just the goal and that's it. Gaming was just better pre-2018. The originality in the PS2 days was another monster.

This was such a fantastic experience. I loved exploring the world with Agro and it was fun defeating all the Colossi. The music is also just really iconic too. The only thing is that I wish there was fast travel because it was really annoying having to always get to each Colossus the long way. Other than that, I would recommend this game.

That's a very personal opinion. Unfortunately, I didn't like Shadow of the Colossus. The map has beautiful landscapes, and I understand all the positive reviews, but I didn't find it interesting to have to return to the center of the map every time I defeated a colossus (even the map is a big blank space) . I thought the horse movement mechanics were terrible. I found the battles to be quite limited in terms of attacks and movements. Translated with **** (free version)

Shadow of the Colossus is a special Zelda-like PlayStation exclusive adventure that also has a place in gaming history that's entirely its own, providing 16 colossi that each have their own challenging (and at times quite esoteric) strategies that are so satisfying to accomplish. On the other hand, and this might just be because I decided to go straight to hard mode, but the protagonist (who I had to look on Wikipedia to know at all that his name is Wander) has some of the most unresponsive controls I've ever fought against.

This is one of these games that you should be admiring because it's some kind of a classic and art. To me its vast emptiness and lack of any other content it has, sided with bad controls, is just not worth my time. I got it for free which is only good thing I have it.

I wasn't expecting to like this as much as I do now after playing it for the first time. Every collossus in the game is very unique in terms of design, attack pattern, and how you have to defeat them in combat. The game never gets tiring because of how short it is. The games controls are a bit imprecise and clunky at times but it didn't ruin my time with the game at all.

Great game and graphics but by far the worst controls I have ever needed to use. The camera isn’t even playable with its auto lock mechanic it makes the game unplayable and unenjoyable as it doesn’t let you control it as it just resets to the way it wants.Great game but will never play again.

I can understand why it's a classic and I knew it was clunky and not for everyone. I liked the beginning but the more I played it the more cracks started showing. Worth trying but not completing.

Malgré ma note sévère, je recommande de jouer à Shadow of the Colossus.Pourquoi ?

This game is more important for how it inspired others like Elden Ring and Breath of the Wild, rather than by itself. Surely in the PS2 era it was consireded a little gem, but by today standards, it feels more like a curious 10h long indie. Game consists in roaming an evocative yet completely empty landscape to find and beat 16 bosses that were mostly entertaining, but sometimes excruciatingly tedious.

Yeah it is clunky sure but I really enjoyed the experience. The core gameplay loop of finding the locations of the colossi figuring out how to climb them and kill them was one of the most unique gaming experiences I've ever had. The story is also really meaningful and can get really emotional at times as you slay this beasts for a selfish reason.I am Really glad I found this magnificent game in 2025. I would wholeheartedly recommend everyone to give this game a shot but I also understand the people that dropped this because of the clunky nature of it

Shadow of the Colossus on PlayStation 4 remains a masterpiece of sensitivity and scale, with breathtaking landscapes and a melancholic atmosphere that permeates every step and every battle against the colossi. It is a unique, almost timeless experience, capable of holding the player’s attention through sheer ****, despite its “remake” label, it behaves far more like a deluxe remaster. The core of the game is almost identical to the PS2 original; the visuals have changed, but very little has been rethought or rebuilt. Elements that could have been modernised, refined, or adapted to today’s standards have simply been copied. It feels as though the original game was lifted wholesale, polished on the surface, and handed back — beautiful, but without **** is still an extraordinary game, but it lacks the boldness of a true rem

This game is beautiful and strange with some of the best boss fights ever. However the controls are a little stinky especially the horse.

Very unique experience and atmosphere, definitely worth one playthrough. Empty world with epic bosses. The big problem is the controls, the game feels very clunky, everything is slow in response, so the gameplay aspect can feel a bit frustrating. After finishing, instead of going to NG+, I’m just glad it’s over. 7/10

Elden Ring'in esinlendiği iki oyunun varsa birisi Zelda'dır, diğeri de bu. 20 yıllık bir oyun olduğunu her anında hissettirse de açık dünyadaki tasarımı, nereye nasıl gidileceğine dair yol bulma zorluğu hala keyifli. Her boss savaşının birer bulmacaya dönüşmesi, bulmaca oyunlarını hiç sevmeyen beni bile tatmin etti.

Can’t believe this game dropped in 2005. Just played the 2018 remake and wow. Just vibes and boss fights. Each fight is a fun puzzle to solve, and the whole world is very visually appealing. I wish they took the time to create a more in depth story when they remade this but that’s just me. 8.8 is a fair score for me

So immersive, the atmosphere is perfect. Riding a horse has never felt so special, everything feels so big. The emptiness says it all, it makes you wonder why you're doing all that. No UI, no clear storytelling, just a vast empty world; clearly the definition of less is more. The soundtrack makes every moment better. The gameplay can feel boring and repetitive for some, but that could be his only flaw.

This is truly a remake that forces you to consider trade-offs. There are some changes to the original masterpiece that do somewhat dampen the original's unique, foreboding atmosphere. But on the flip side, the quality of life improvements to the camera and gameplay, the exceptional graphical makeover and steadier framerate, and a soundtrack that is spotless makes this a laudable example of respecting an original vision while trying to make something that's a bit more accessible in the modern age. Do some of the solutions to these encounters remain ridiculously obtuse? Yes. Are a few of the Colossi a bit anti-climactic? Yes. But the high highs that gave this game its stellar reputation remain as exhilarating as ever.

I played SotC on each possible console. It is a unique experience and easily one of the best games of all times. The 16 colossi are masterclasses in boss design, that keep inspiring modern games. The soundtrack is a masterpiece on its own. The story is deceivingly simple and powerful, and you can't help but feel completely invested in it. The character and world design is astounding, capable of inspiring, calm, awe or dread accordingly. Possibly the game you should play if you were to play only one in your whole life.

My favorite game ever made. Few games can let me feel do much emotion with so little effort. The world is just art. The colossi are fun And you always have the feeling of something is mysterious about this world. The ps2 version is better because the remake does not understand what made the original art style and draw distance so special but overall still a good game and im very happy modern audiences can experience it. Its nothing for people who are impatient because the controls need some training and you actually have to think to beat this game. Everyone that trashes on it just has skill issues or thought it had a lifeless boring world or thought it has a great story like red dead 2. This game is nothing for those persons. Its for people who understand art

This is a game featuring one of the most enigmatic and awe-inspiring worlds, that you are forced to explore with some of the worst controls and animations in recent history. The shame of this game is that Shadow of the Colossus has what it takes to be one of the best games of all time, and for many it is, but for me the gameplay shortcomings add too much frustration that it ends up distracting from the beautiful environments, haunting ruins, angelic soundtrack, and genuinely interesting boss fights. Your character's animations and choppy. They take too long. You trip over stairs and small ledges. Walking too close to a ledge leads to a stumbling animation which can be cancelled with a jump, but somehow not by simply walking backwards. The jump animation is long and floaty, and you cannot grab ledges until the jump animation has completed, meaning you will sometimes be staring a ledge in the face only to have to wait until your character reaches the peak of his jump to finally grab the ledge. It also means that if you jump diagonally which often happens, you might jump past the ledge because, while you were close enough to it, your character hadn't finished the jump yet and was therefore unable to grab the ledge. The horse. It takes ages to start moving, and comes to a complete stop from the smallest pebble. It turns poorly, and sometimes decides to crawl along the ground at a snails pace. The camera. Do not get me started on the camera. It is never in the right place, it is constantly moving to reframe your view, fighting against your analog stick movements. There already is a function to focus on the boss, so I don't know why they felt the need to program a camera that actively forces a terrible perspective. All of this is frustrating on its own, but then there are the bosses. What should have been the highlight of the game ends up being a mixed bag. Most of the bosses are very fun, and there is a great sense of scale and wonder as you climb up the back of a colossus. But some of the puzzles to kill them are just too long, tedious, or inconsistent. Some are just obtuse. Some bosses take ages to do the correct animations, and some are just bugged. The frustration you will feel with some of these later bosses honestly makes you forget how fun the earlier ones were. And the last colossus is like Getting over it in boss form. The terrible camera and jumping controls come together to make a frustrating climb up a boss that should have been breathtaking. I enjoyed most of these fights, even if some were bothersome, but I think overall the colossi were more fun than frustrating. Just barely. The world ends up stealing the show in the end. The environments and the long, stretches of nothingness led to such a somber yet peaceful tone, that perfectly juxtaposed the battles against the giant enemies. After playing this game I feel like I could be transported to this world and be able to navigate without aid. The design is memorable, and the atmosphere is thick and beautiful. I loved exploring the vast world to find little secrets and pray at the shrines. The world ended up being a brilliant buffer between the action and the story, and it really made the game for me. I want to love this game, and in many ways I do. But in the end I am left wondering if I would have enjoyed it more simply watching it rather than playing. I love the world, I like the bosses, and I hate the controls. Overall, that leads to a positive score, but I think mixing these grading criteria is a mistake. Few works of art are perfect, and they don't succeed at everything. I think it is important to highlight the accomplishments of games, even when they might fail in other areas. This game set out to create an evocative setting, populated by mythical and imaginative beasts, and it succeeded. That is enough to earn it some respect in my eyes.

A hidden gem. The story is quite good. But the highlights of the game are its controls and gameplay. The idea of exploring the world to find the colossus (which by the way are very well designed) seems excellent to me. The controls feel natural, as if you were the protagonist yourself. The world is gigantic, which makes the exploration experience satisfying. Also the way you fight the colossus feels epic and cool. My only negative point is that the plot might get repetitive to some people.
