A great action-RPG - a few slight tweaks to the formula could see it become utterly essential. [Nov 2017, p.78]
I’ve been having a great time with PoE, and it’s fast become my go-to when I need to get in a rewarding grind. The Xbox One version may be a little late to the party, but it was absolutely worth the wait. This fantastic game takes the best of the genre and propels them to impressive new heights.
Without question, Path of Exile is a great, if not one of the greatest, values for dollar you can find on the Xbox platform at this very moment. Grinding Gear Games has demonstrated that you don't need to spend $60 and up on a game that is going to be shelved in a matter of weeks as you wait for more content to arrive. Despite a few hiccups, Path of Exiles is a pure joy to play, and with a quality microtransaction system in place (Editors Note: I know, who knew we'd say something like that), it's worth every single penny to play this game.

After over 6,000 hours played, I can say that the game is essentially a 10/10. However, it’s starting to show its age, and the performance — or rather the engine — leaves something to be desired at times. That’s why I’d rate it a 9/10, even though it’s really a 10/10 at its core. In my opinion, it’s still the best ARPG out there.

Reasons I quit. 1. Needs all of the PC features. No party finder (lonely) and buy/sell doesn't have enough filters (major issue). They should offer mods other than loot filter. No battle Royale either. 2. Crafting, maps, builds, delves, and the weird mini games are incredibly confusing for new players especially if on console. 3. Too easy to "brick" your character. Propper socketing is a nightmare. Respec too expensive. Console economy too expensive with low active player base & currency/item farmers. Unable to trade for build dependent items at reasonable prices (unlike PC). 4. Too easy to get one shotted by random mobs and not know why. 5. Video build guides entirely for PC and not console. 6. Not new player friendly. Even after 350 hours I kept feeling lost. Otherwise the game is AMAZING! Game deserves 9.5/10 on PC. 7/10 on console. I hope POE 2 fixes these issues otherwise it may have very few console players long-term.

This is absolutely one of the funnest games you will ever encounter while leveling to the cap. Then all of the sudden it does some bipolar turn and leaves you disgusted. A Diablo style clone with all the dark flavor people wanted in Diablo 3, with a giant pool of weapons and armor and the most vast skill tree I have ever seen in a game. Lag is somewhat of an issue it seems some days but I only encountered it a couple of times before a router reset had me seamlessly weaving in and out of combat. The glaringly bad problem with this game is the end game. I am not sure what they were doing but it just didn’t grab me. Diablo had that ok, you’re 70 now, let’s go get some gear whereas this was, ok you’re 70 now and have good gear, let’s turn the difficulty up 10,000% on maps and then make it almost impossible without days and days of currency farming to respec skills. I just didn’t get it. All I ever did was start another character and get it to 70 before realizing that’s as far as it went and was done. Not terrible, but doesn’t get the cherry quite on top with its horrid end game.

Path of Exile isn't a mega-budget game like Diablo, but you'd hardly know it.

I have also played the PC version, but I have always been a fan of playing these ARPG's on console because when it's done right an ARPG feels like a 90's neo geo arcade game fight em up/shoot em up. That's why I loved Diablo 3 on PS4 better then the PC version. Well, worry no more becuase Path of Exile on the Xbox One, I can tell you, has been done damn right. It's so much fun running around with my ranger shooting every thing and the Xbox one joypad feels like a dream. Now some are complaining that inventory management is more annoying with a joypad, and they are right, but it's not as dramatic as some are making it out to be, and you'll get used to it soon enough. Finally, unlike with D3 you get the full experience in the console version including multiplayer without duping and cheating that went on in D3. That fact alone and the fact that Path of Exile is a solid game on its own makes PoE Xbox One the new king of console ARPG's.

Path of Exile is an indispensable ARPG in consoles. The game is terribly addictive and comes full of content and an excellent performance. The hundreds of possibilities in the creation of characters and styles determined the game as one of the best alternatives of the generation.

Path of Exile is nothing truly new, but it is a well crafted and incredibly deep game in the loot grinding genre. Particularly recommended if you can play it with friends.

It’s a bit buggy and prone to repetition, but Path of Exile is a free-to-play Diablo clone that’s seriously worth playing. It’s dark and stylish-looking, with a rich and interesting progression system – and the cycle of slaying, looting and upgrading is as compelling as it is in Diablo 3. Given the price, it’s hard not to recommend. Grab some friends if you can, then join the trail.

All in all then and Path of Exile is an enjoyable game, held back by some peculiar design choices, both in game and in the UI.

great game, made for hardcore players with a dark environment, difficult bosses and a complete and well-balanced skill system, a huge passive skills tree

Having played the pic version a couple of years back I found myself looking forward to this console version! And I must say I am living it! It is f2p The way it should be done no pay to win items here just cosmetics! If you lived diablo 2 you will find a lot to like here! It is not perfect , the close camera angle takes getting used to and the loot pick up can be bothersome at times but it is a loot-a-holiest dream, the story and story elements could use some more polish but gameplay is great! Big thumbs up to grinding gears for this descent port!!
