A sequel is always a hard thing to pull off. On one hand, you want to push things forward with fresh and exciting ideas, but on the other, you don’t want to alienate fans of the original nor make it feel too detached. Hades II, in my opinion, manages to deliver in every way possible. Bigger, better and even sexier, there’s no excuse for any Nintendo Switch 2 owner not to have this in their library.
If you were ever on the fence with trying the original Hades, or thought Supergiant Games couldn’t possibly outdo themselves after the first game, then you owe it to yourself to check out Hades II. This year has been stellar when it comes to great games, and Hades II still manages to stand out from the pack for me. It’s an absolutely fantastic follow-up to the original and one that shouldn’t be missed.
Hades II is much more than a sequel. Supergiant Games’ work exceeds all expectations, with a gameplay loop that keeps you hooked at every moment, even as you die trying. Its immersive narrative and thrilling action make it an essential title for action lovers.

hours played: 68. Hades 2 improves on the original hades by taking its mechanics and developing them even further. The biggest example of this is the addition of omega attacks that let you channel mana through your normal attack and special attack for stronger versions of attacks whereas in the first hades the player only had an attack and a chargeable special. The cast mechanic was also improved in hades 2 changing it from a single projectile you can fire into a circle that will trap and damage enemies making it infinitely more useful for fighting many enemies at once. Having the new mana system and omega attack system lets there be a variety of new builds that simply were not possible in the first game letting the player experiment with new builds and playstyles. The revamped keepsake system also adds to this new variety by offering various effects for the player to experiment with. One new example is the change to the god keepsakes, in the first game these keepsakes would force that god to appear and then be useless after the fact but now in hades 2 the keepsakes let you upgrade a boons rarity in addition to forcing a god which gives them a lot more value. The new weapons are all extremely unique with a variety of attacks and effects. Like the first game each weapon has four different aspects each with their own variation of the weapons attacks giving each weapon a sense of uniqueness so there's something each player can find fun about them. In hades two unlike its predecessor Hades two features two different routes for the player to take whereas in the first game the player could only do one route. In hades two the player starts with the underworld route that is structured like hades 1 areas being made up of four areas that all contain different biomes and each room gives the player a choice of the next reward just like hades 1. However, hades 2 offers a change to this formula by adding different ways to pick rewards. one example is in Oceanus where they lock different routes behind enemy's that you must defeat to unlock. The other route is the surface where the player travels up to Olympus and in the first area the player is shown all possible rewards and the player can only pick 6 forcing them to think and plan their build I believe that these mechanics would be easy enough to learn for new players and work well with the style of the game. I would personally recommend this game to my friend* I would like to see multiplier added in the future as then I could try and convince my friend to play it with me.

A solid for any library, the beauty of Hades 2 is that it takes every aspect of the original Hades and make it 10x better. More options in game play, more weapons to use, great boss fights. A perfect game to sink 100 hours into. The music was phenomenal, it was super fun to max out all of the aspects and the natural progression to being able to do harder oath of the unseen challenges felt like a great reward.

I don’t know what more you could ask for from a Hades sequel. Everything that the first game did so well, Hades 2 does it even better, letting you enjoy the story and characters of this world on a more intimate level than before while the game’s combat, encounter, and level design feel more refined as you control the battlefield and slay Chronos’ minions by the hundreds. It all comes together to remind you that Hades and Hades 2 really are the ultimate roguelikes.

How do you even sum up something as beautiful, special, memorable, and admirable as Hades 2? There is no one out there doing what Supergiant does as well as it does, and this exceptional action roguelite is some of this team’s best work on nearly every level (which is an astonishingly high bar to clear). It's the type of video game that reminds me why I love video games so damn much. The art is breathtaking, the characters are captivating, the combat is fast, fun, endlessly varied, and tactical, and the music is spectacular. May moonlight guide us. All of us.

Believe it or not, we struggled to find any flaws in Supergiant Games' latest offering. Hades 2 is a masterful game in every way: the sheer amount of content is breathtaking, the character designs are a feast for the eyes, and the gameplay boasts a depth that puts most roguelikes currently on the market to shame. So if you enjoy the genre, you simply have no excuse: you absolutely must play it.

Hades II is a benchmark for the genre. The story, characters, writing, and art direction exceed the expectations set by the original Hades. Further, the new gameplay mechanics and the addition of a second area make for a game that can keep you occupied for dozens of hours without ever getting boring. While the ending is extremely disappointing, I can confidently recommend Hades II to everyone, regardless of whether you've played other entries in the genre or not.

Hades II improves on nearly every aspect of its phenomenal predecessor with deeper combat and customization, a substantially larger world, and creative witchcraft abilities.

Immortal family drama is at the heart of Hades II, just as it was its 2020 predecessor. This time, though, the stakes are higher, the cast is larger, and the action is more demanding, mostly for the better.

Hades was probably the first roguelite I ever rolled credits on. Typically because I have either hit a roadblock or just got bored of the gameplay loop. They were absolutely masterful with every aspect before and they did the same with Hades 2. It expands on the universe and the story from the first game but does a great job of allowing you to play it even without playing the first. I highly recommend playing both though. I got this originally because the PS5 version did not release at the same time and I am not disappointed at all. The switch 2 handled this flawlessly and looked great, with the added benefit of being able to play whereever I wanted. Combat is absolutely crisp and innovative from the first entry. Visuals are as beautiful as ever and sound/music maintains it's high level of quality. Characters and voice acting are phenomenal. There's really nothing bad I can say about this game so go buy it and play it.

Checkpoint really bad in this game, multiple bosses instead of 1 means you need to fight same bosses over and over again every run which is unbelieavably stupid in my opinion, each floor only consists of same bunch of enemy in a very small area without random chest/exploration like other rogue games, character strength/progression between each run also very slow, completely waste of time.i rather f off and go play chocobo everybuddy again(another better rogue games)than finishing this A hole. Best action game of 2025 really??unbelievable, guess potato pc requirements of the game help the vote

As far as roguelikes go, Hades 2 is decent. But given how shallow these types of games are, I can’t justify anyone giving it a 10/10. It may be a 10/10 for the genre, but for an actual video game, it isn’t even close.

Fun at first. If you love playing the same level a thousand times even after beating it then this game is for you.

I played for three hours and it's definitely not my cup of tea. I also don't understand why people make such a fuss about it. It's certainly not a bad game, but it's not a very good one either.
