All in all, Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic is a solid 7.5/10 in my book, providing a uniquely unsettling experience despite its faults. It is a game that both old fans and new are able to enjoy, one way or another, as they slowly unravel the mysteries left behind in that old costume factory, and I highly recommend it. Just don't let your previous assumptions about the franchise's history cloud your enjoyment.

Steel Wool has proved to me that they genuinely care about the franchise. It isn’t about making a quick buck. It’s about evolving a franchise that fans have known and loved for years into something bigger and better. It doesn’t matter if you’re a Five Nights at Freddy’s fan from day one or someone eager to get into the series. Secret of the Mimic is one you don’t want to miss. Pro tip? Run the ending twice, remember about the grayed-out option on the H.E.L.P.E.R. screen. You’ll thank me later. [Highly Recommended]

Five Nights at Freddy's: Secret of the Mimic is one of the best Five Nights games in recent memory, despite its issues. It reaches highs nearly comparable to the series' heyday while never quite reaching the lows of Security Breach. It's also a good entry point for new fans, which is a rarity in this franchise.

so much better than security breach in almost every way with a great story that really makes the mimic one of the most tragic characters in the franchise

FNAF: Secret of the Mimic is carried by the franchise, not the gameplay—but it’s still more FNAF, and that’s more than enough for fans. Lore, world-building, creepy animatronics—it’s all here, and with great graphical and performance optimization to boot. Just don’t expect more than that, and you’re Golden Freddy.

I did enjoy this game since I do have a tendency to enjoy scary games. The graphics were great, and the environments to explore had a lot of variety as well. I do think the enemies could have been a little more scary, along with the jumpscares.

This is NOT the fnaf we all know and love.
40$ for a 3 hours game??? This is daylight robbery.
Also, only ps5 and pc? Great Job Steel Wool, gatekeeping such a beloved franchise.
I feel so bad for fnaf, before Steel Wool it was at his peak...

I am not gonna talk about it doesnt feel like og fnaf, I have 4060 and its still laggy and full of bugs like all steelwool studios games, its a important game because of the lore but the gameplay is boring so who cares, to be honest I didnt have any expectation to this game because all of the steelwool fnaf games are boring and too buggy and sometimes unplayable but still this game gets a 0 from me. I cant understand how people enjoyed playing it because I got softlocked so many times in the game and there is no reset button or back to menu button in the game I need to quit and start the game again and its just pain when you do it for like 20 times, I dont even wanna talk about the render bugs and the long waiting screens just to wait the game render itself I dont know how steelwool manages it to make waiting screens this long I play the game at low sometimes I couldnt even read the things I was supposed to read but still 20 second waiting time my old gtx 1650 laptop was managing rdr2 better than this, some people would say it wasnt boring its scary and there are lots of puzzles but the puzzles repeats itself so many times and they are made for 4 year olds its too easy to figure it out and if I need to talk about the scary part, cheap jumpscares shouldnt exist in 2025 but I will give credit for some of the creepy animatronic designs and some of the background sound choiceoverall its buggy, not computer friendly and has a boring gameplay people will play it just for the lore or watch it from markiplier just to see the king of the fnaf struggle or say something iconic...again
